Most miserable service you can ever expect. High prices, low service seems to be the motto of this bakery. Never again!

The staff is incredibly unfriendly and completely uninterested. The lady with red/orange hair almost throws your order across the counter... very disappointing.

5,6euro for a very little bottled fruitjuice like 200ml? Robbery!

A really bad store experience. The staff just ignored me and kept focusing on her own tasks while I clearly let know my presence. She didn’t want to help at all, until I said hi to her again.

I hadn't been to this bakery in years. And today, my visit reminded me why. A very unfriendly saleswoman with red hair. While she was taking my order, she was having a long conversation with another customer. Meanwhile, she completely ignored me. She didn't even bother to look at me. Not a hello. I read here that there are many more complaints about her performance. Maybe the owner doesn't care, or maybe she's too expensive to fire? I also ordered an almond croissant (€3.75). It was very dry/old.

Everything i had there is actually tasty. That being said, this is the most expensive bakery, the staff merely hate you once you enter, everything is cold even at 09.00 in the morning and during summer, flies cover most of the inside of the display, enjoy these expensive good before you purchase them. Remaining hungry is better than visiting this place.

Personally, I've had nothing but positive experiences: the staff were helpful and patient; and the baked goods were delicious!

Avoid this place! I was very frustrated with the rude service I received today. Unfortunately, I didn't Google it beforehand. I would have seen the many other negative reviews for this place. Apparently, the same employee has been behaving this way for a while. How can they keep someone who degrades the reputation of the place with this kind of rude and aggressive behavior toward customers? The food isn't good enough to make such rude behavior worthwhile. Just go to one of the other nearby cafes and restaurants.

Lady with the red hairs does indeed seem to be a discriminatory. Really unfriendly to me but friendly again against the white woman behind me. Strange, haven’t seen this in a long time in Amsterdam. I’m even Dutch speaking, so that can’t even be it. Such a shame, cause the food is nice.

Super rude red-haired saleswoman never experienced anything like that before, a real shame considering the price you have to pay!

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt this experience was worth sharing. The atmosphere was anything but friendly—not even a simple greeting or smile was forthcoming. The prices are on the high side, which you might accept if the quality and service were good. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There were some lovely croissants on display on the counter, so I agreed when the saleswoman asked if I wanted them warmed up. To my surprise, she quickly grabbed two burnt croissants from somewhere else and quickly put them in a bag so I couldn't see them. It felt unfair and misleading. A waste of the chance for a pleasant start to the day.

I only went in to grab baked goods for home. They have very nice sourdough bread, and Hazelnut Madelines were excellent.

Racist and Rude, avoid this place When the question "How much is Koffiebroodje?", is answered with "It's not cheap here". It's not a good sign. I tried this place 4 times, on different occasions. Both the ladies are super rude and they just don't care. Firstly not sure what they are going through in their life, but they bring all their frustration into this store. Secondly NO HYGIENE, they use same hands to clean the door, wipe the counter ,touch nd pack the food. Both ladies also make faces as if we are stealing their items. They should show minimum courtesy to their customers. KINDLY avoid this place 🙏

Terrible experience with the shop. The staff treated me like an animal.

I was here yesterday 13:30 but the lady just ignored me and picked the guest who came after me. I was the only one when I came in. So.i left immediately.

Had an awful experience with the red-haired lady. It’s unbelievable that someone in a customer-facing role can behave so poorly and still keep their job. She’s not great with Dutch-speaking customers either—no greeting, no thank you, just turning her back and walking away. While serving, she multitasks in the worst way, like opening the entrance door with the same hands she uses to toss croissants into the bag. And when I say "toss," I mean it literally—throwing them in carelessly, crumbling them to pieces. Truly a terrible interaction.

The best cheese croissants, you would actually want the recipe for everything there because it is so good. It's a shame about the employees, especially the one that is mentioned repeatedly, the branch at South station, is extremely rude and apparently makes a sport of not treating people kindly. So in case you noticed it, it wasn't your fault.

Why do I relate price with good quality in this place?? With not cheap price I hoped something better, but just grocery store level bakery.. and the women literally put croissant and pizza in one bag😂I wonder how much does one extra bag cost??

Lady with the red hair is always rude. When you come into the store, she's always staring at her phone and acting as if the costumer doesn't exist. You expect this behaviour from a teenager, lol. I'm surprised she still has a job considering all these reviews.

Before going in this shop and purchase, you should first read what others people have said about the store. This is my first time to buy lunch here, but I regretted it. The staff was an impatient。 The payment amount is more expensive than the amount on the menu list. And there are egg shells in the sandwich.

One croissant is 2.55 super over priced and shopkeeper is not happy to talk to you. 12/9 thursday morning 9am shift fyi

Very unpleasant experience, came there every day for my breakfast, but today I miss the mark, bought a sandwich and a currant bun, amount 8.40. I ask if it is true that a sandwich is so expensive, and she looks at me as if I am a stupid child. , another customer also says that you should go to the AH if you think it is expensive, in the end the lady had bought the wrong product and it was just her fault, and this lady in question is always sullen while citizens spend a lot of money for a sandwich , she had no money to pay this back so was forced to take something else, very unpleasant, and now definitely go to the AH!!

Unknowledgeable and unfriendly staff, just say what ingredients might or might not be in it. This can have serious consequences for allergy sufferers. Moreover, the cake was also moldy 🤮

Terrible service and croissant €4.25

Croissant way too greasy with oil or butter. I also asked if I could choose a healthy sandwich without pork, the dark-skinned employee who was making the sandwiches responded irritated and curtly that she was busy making sandwiches. Since she is already making sandwiches, it seems to me that she could take 2 minutes to make a healthy sandwich without pork. Such a shame for such an experience! (Also very expensive)

The umpteenth time that the lady behind the counter didn't think I was worth a look, word or smile. Not one word! It's a shame, as it made me feel considerably less cheerful. Never again for me.

Good products but pretty bad service.

I didn’t have the same experience with the service as others mentioned in their reviews. The staff might not have been extremely friendly, but they were perfectly fine for a quick interaction – just a simple "I want this, pay for it, and that's it." I liked the taste, and I came three mornings in a row for pastries. The croissants and pain au chocolat were very nice. I also liked the variety of sandwiches, but I wasn’t in the mood to try them.

€4 for a sausage roll. Are you not quite well or something? For that money I demand that it be made of gold and be wrapped by the nicest waitress on earth, but nothing could be further from the truth! You get an ice-cold sandwich (not even offered to warm it up) from the grumpiest person who found it just a little too difficult to say a simple 'good morning'. Whole morning ruined. What a rotten place.

I visited your bakery this morning, excited to try some treats. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant due to the extremely rude and xenophobic behavior of a red-haired lady working there. I greeted her with a smile and a "good morning," but was met with rudeness instead. As an expat, I responded in English when she spoke Dutch, asking for a soft cookie and a chocolate muffin. She curtly told me the cookies weren't soft (which they clearly were). Despite this, I still ordered one along with a muffin. However, when I got home, I discovered she had given me a vanilla muffin instead of the chocolate one I ordered. To add to the frustration, the cookie turned out to be soft, exactly as I had asked! I urge the management to address this issue. This employee clearly needs training on both the products and, more importantly, customer service. Customers come to spend their money and expect a basic level of courtesy and competence in return. A simple "thank you" isn't too much to ask. Given the number of similar reviews, it's disheartening to see that many others have also had negative experiences, especially with this same employee. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to improvements. IF I COULD GIVE LESS THAN 0 STARS I WOULD DEFINITELY DO THAT!

Beautiful place and beautiful shop, tasty sandwiches, but anyone who works gets feedback...! You should not react like that to customers, absolutely disrespectful, they already give an impression with their face, very grumpy irritated!!! Customers are your everything.. without them you are bankrupt.. it can be busy but you can ask the customers nicely if they can wait for a little while, it is completely normal! But if you say “no, I don't have that right now, just choose something else here, I can't be too busy right now” then you go to other people and still react unkindly to them... absolutely worthless! I will never buy bread from there again and I will absolutely not give any advice to go there! I hope they change employees otherwise they won't stay open that long.. bankrupt soon..!

Came here half an hour before closing time, worker was filling a big trash bag with food that was not sold to throw away - she is not allowed by the owner to give it away, only to throw it away in the trash. This practice of extreme food waste should be criminalized and the owner should make an effort to donate her excess food instead of throwing it away.

Very prompt service, the red haired lady was extremely nice. We showed up and she offered the kiddos each a small raisin roll to snack on. We grabbed some chocolate croissants and were on our way

The food is good, quite expensive for basic stuff. It would not be so bad if the customer service was good. Unfortunately service is horrible, the ladies always look mad and irritated. Especially the old one. I don’t feel welcome at all.

I never leave reviews but I will make an exception. This morning I went to get a quick bite for the road to work. I came in and said in Dutch Good morning. My presence was not acknowledged. I stood by the counter for couple of minutes. Nothing. Two ladies ignored me. Then something unbelievable happened- a man walked in and got served before I did. I laugh at it now but that is one of the worst customer experience I have ever encountered! Rude! If it was my business these ladies would get fired on the spot! I won’t be returning.

Unfriendly service, you get the feeling that you are bothering them if you want to order. In particular the Zuidplein location, a female staff member with red curly hair. Hospitality is absolutely not an issue in this case. And that at such high prices. Outdated these days.

The bakery is open from 7:00 am however you go at 8:00 am you don’t get a reply when you say good morning and can’t get any additional pastries until 9:00 am. If you need pastries for a birthday you need them early, before arriving to the office. If it’s open so early why not everything is available, which probably I could understand if the 2 persons working were a BIT friendly. All the expectations are gone. After reading the reviews, I’m glad I am not the only who thinks that the issue here is the unfriendliness of the or a person working there! Other than that I wish the bakery to keep having the great success tot nu toe.

Very unfriendly service, there is one specific lady almost hostile to the customers

I almost considered not going due to the low rating, but I am glad I went anyway. It appears most of the low scores correlate with poor customer service a year ago. Today, no complaints. Workers were helpful and nice, and the food was delicious! No complaints here!

Just get a quick sandwich. I chose a cheese sandwich. And I was very pleasantly surprised. Very crispy and tasty even though it was already cold. Highly recommended!

They are really good but today I saw the lady use her hands (no gloves) to handle the products and that freaked me out a bit, so I ran away today :D

We werden uitstekend geholpen door een vriendelijke dame met een licht Duits accent. Mijn collega en ik zochten 14 gebakjes, bedoelt als gezamenlijke verjaardagstraktatie, waarbij kundig werden geadviseerd. Volgend jaar, mits onze opdracht wordt verlengd, komen we hier zeker terug. It is that I paid 3.70€ for a croissant with cheese - I can still stand because it was really delicious, but the behavior of the lady who served me this morning really was not nice, open at 7:00 I was 7:05 and the lady clearly was offended at me that I wants to buy something when she has something else to do (spread the goods on the shelves) such people should not work in public places because they can spoil someone from a day wound, she didn't even answer me bye goodbye. There is still a young girl working there who is very nice and I like to shop then

Kaasbroodje is very good, but everything is ridiculously pricey. It used to be 1,90 only 7 years ago, now almost double. THAT IS NOT INFLATION

Heerlijk belegde broodjes en gebak. En goede koffie. Ieder pauze weer een feestje

Wat een arrogante, klant onvriendelijke bediening. Was vrijdagmiddag, was de enige klant, na 5 minuten gewacht te hebben werd ik dan geholpen. Mocht niet meer aan tafel mijn broodje nuttigen omdat het net was schoongemaakt... was 14.00 uur! Volgens personeelslid had hij nog veel te doen en het was paasweekend...

Good quality, but service is terrible and way too expensive

Bread is alright although bit pricey, but the service is terrible... been few times because is convenient coming to work, but I’ve promised myself not to comeback. The old lady that attended me, was coughing over the bread exaggerating with a really bad crest cough. Almost through the bread over the counter....I said “thanks and good morning” and she looked the other way and walked away... Lovely way to start the day Miss!
