I hadn't been to this bakery in years. And today, my visit reminded me why. A very unfriendly saleswoman with red hair. While she was taking my order, she was having a long conversation with another customer. Meanwhile, she completely ignored me. She didn't even bother to look at me. Not a hello. I read here that there are many more complaints about her performance. Maybe the owner doesn't care, or maybe she's too expensive to fire? I also ordered an almond croissant (€3.75). It was very dry/old.

Everything i had there is actually tasty. That being said, this is the most expensive bakery, the staff merely hate you once you enter, everything is cold even at 09.00 in the morning and during summer, flies cover most of the inside of the display, enjoy these expensive good before you purchase them. Remaining hungry is better than visiting this place.

Avoid this place! I was very frustrated with the rude service I received today. Unfortunately, I didn't Google it beforehand. I would have seen the many other negative reviews for this place. Apparently, the same employee has been behaving this way for a while. How can they keep someone who degrades the reputation of the place with this kind of rude and aggressive behavior toward customers? The food isn't good enough to make such rude behavior worthwhile. Just go to one of the other nearby cafes and restaurants.

Lady with the red hairs does indeed seem to be a discriminatory. Really unfriendly to me but friendly again against the white woman behind me. Strange, haven’t seen this in a long time in Amsterdam. I’m even Dutch speaking, so that can’t even be it. Such a shame, cause the food is nice.

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt this experience was worth sharing. The atmosphere was anything but friendly—not even a simple greeting or smile was forthcoming. The prices are on the high side, which you might accept if the quality and service were good. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There were some lovely croissants on display on the counter, so I agreed when the saleswoman asked if I wanted them warmed up. To my surprise, she quickly grabbed two burnt croissants from somewhere else and quickly put them in a bag so I couldn't see them. It felt unfair and misleading. A waste of the chance for a pleasant start to the day.

Racist and Rude, avoid this place When the question "How much is Koffiebroodje?", is answered with "It's not cheap here". It's not a good sign. I tried this place 4 times, on different occasions. Both the ladies are super rude and they just don't care. Firstly not sure what they are going through in their life, but they bring all their frustration into this store. Secondly NO HYGIENE, they use same hands to clean the door, wipe the counter ,touch nd pack the food. Both ladies also make faces as if we are stealing their items. They should show minimum courtesy to their customers. KINDLY avoid this place 🙏

Had an awful experience with the red-haired lady. It’s unbelievable that someone in a customer-facing role can behave so poorly and still keep their job. She’s not great with Dutch-speaking customers either—no greeting, no thank you, just turning her back and walking away. While serving, she multitasks in the worst way, like opening the entrance door with the same hands she uses to toss croissants into the bag. And when I say "toss," I mean it literally—throwing them in carelessly, crumbling them to pieces. Truly a terrible interaction.

The best cheese croissants, you would actually want the recipe for everything there because it is so good. It's a shame about the employees, especially the one that is mentioned repeatedly, the branch at South station, is extremely rude and apparently makes a sport of not treating people kindly. So in case you noticed it, it wasn't your fault.

Before going in this shop and purchase, you should first read what others people have said about the store. This is my first time to buy lunch here, but I regretted it. Croissant way too greasy with oil or butter. I also asked if I could choose a healthy sandwich without pork, the dark-skinned employee who was making the sandwiches responded irritated and curtly that she was busy making sandwiches. Since she is already making sandwiches, it seems to me that she could take 2 minutes to make a healthy sandwich without pork. Such a shame for such an experience! (Also very expensive)

I didn’t have the same experience with the service as others mentioned in their reviews. The staff might not have been extremely friendly, but they were perfectly fine for a quick interaction – just a simple "I want this, pay for it, and that's it." I liked the taste, and I came three mornings in a row for pastries. The croissants and pain au chocolat were very nice. I also liked the variety of sandwiches, but I wasn’t in the mood to try them.

I visited your bakery this morning, excited to try some treats. Unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant due to the extremely rude and xenophobic behavior of a red-haired lady working there. I greeted her with a smile and a "good morning," but was met with rudeness instead. As an expat, I responded in English when she spoke Dutch, asking for a soft cookie and a chocolate muffin. She curtly told me the cookies weren't soft (which they clearly were). Despite this, I still ordered one along with a muffin. However, when I got home, I discovered she had given me a vanilla muffin instead of the chocolate one I ordered. To add to the frustration, the cookie turned out to be soft, exactly as I had asked! I urge the management to address this issue. This employee clearly needs training on both the products and, more importantly, customer service. Customers come to spend their money and expect a basic level of courtesy and competence in return. A simple "thank you" isn't too much to ask. Given the number of similar reviews, it's disheartening to see that many others have also had negative experiences, especially with this same employee. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to improvements. IF I COULD GIVE LESS THAN 0 STARS I WOULD DEFINITELY DO THAT!

Beautiful place and beautiful shop, tasty sandwiches, but anyone who works gets feedback...! You should not react like that to customers, absolutely disrespectful, they already give an impression with their face, very grumpy irritated!!! Customers are your everything.. without them you are bankrupt.. it can be busy but you can ask the customers nicely if they can wait for a little while, it is completely normal! But if you say “no, I don't have that right now, just choose something else here, I can't be too busy right now” then you go to other people and still react unkindly to them... absolutely worthless! I will never buy bread from there again and I will absolutely not give any advice to go there! I hope they change employees otherwise they won't stay open that long.. bankrupt soon..!

Came here half an hour before closing time, worker was filling a big trash bag with food that was not sold to throw away - she is not allowed by the owner to give it away, only to throw it away in the trash. This practice of extreme food waste should be criminalized and the owner should make an effort to donate her excess food instead of throwing it away.

I never leave reviews but I will make an exception. This morning I went to get a quick bite for the road to work. I came in and said in Dutch Good morning. My presence was not acknowledged. I stood by the counter for couple of minutes. Nothing. Two ladies ignored me. Then something unbelievable happened- a man walked in and got served before I did. I laugh at it now but that is one of the worst customer experience I have ever encountered! Rude! If it was my business these ladies would get fired on the spot! I won’t be returning.

The bakery is open from 7:00 am however you go at 8:00 am you don’t get a reply when you say good morning and can’t get any additional pastries until 9:00 am. If you need pastries for a birthday you need them early, before arriving to the office. If it’s open so early why not everything is available, which probably I could understand if the 2 persons working were a BIT friendly. All the expectations are gone. After reading the reviews, I’m glad I am not the only who thinks that the issue here is the unfriendliness of the or a person working there! Other than that I wish the bakery to keep having the great success tot nu toe.

Bread is alright although bit pricey, but the service is terrible... been few times because is convenient coming to work, but I’ve promised myself not to comeback. The old lady that attended me, was coughing over the bread exaggerating with a really bad crest cough. I've gotten a sandwich three times for my commute. Each time, the rolls were old and soggy instead of baked. You expect to get a nice, fresh sandwich at 8:30. But today was absolutely out of whack. I paid €6 for a "salmon sandwich," but it was a day-old roll with nothing on it. You can't charge people €6 for this. I took two bites and then threw it away.

Groot Gelderlandplein was recommended to me by an acquaintance as a good place to shop, my friend said! That was indeed the case, except at Bakkerij Jongejans. I was yelled at by an old fishwife from her counter by the pastries. I was standing in the wrong aisle by the bread and had one loaf in my hand. I wanted to ask her something and walked over with the bread, but she yelled that I wasn't allowed and that I was in the wrong aisle! I've never been there, so I might have made a mistake, but to be yelled at like that by an old fishwife with blonde hair and drawn eyebrows, I'd go to the market because at least they want to sell you something! Or is she the owner who's fed up with it, or an employee biding her time until retirement?! I think she's more likely a bitter woman who has wasted her life in a bakery because she can't do anything else! A shameless purchase for a shop on Gelderlandplein!
