Food is good, service is terrible. 5-6 waiters all wandering around but pretending not seeing us even until 40-50 minutes after we’ve finished our dishes. This is something incredibly rude that I’ve never seen before in any Michelin-star restaurant. Prevent going to this spot if possible.

This was an incredibly romantic restaurant! Would recommend for date night! For us the snacks, starters, bread, and dessert stole the show. The fish mains were solid - but we have a lighter pallet for fish, so while perfectly executed they were eclipsed by the amazing snacks to start and dessert to end. Service was flawless and everyone was incredibly kind. Impressive as the woman seated next to us was kind of rude. Pictures is this little caviar cheese puff, when paired with champagne is the best caviar bite I’ve had this year. Enjoy!

Sister to the multi-starred 212, BDLM is their Bistronomy take on fish cookery. Not without its own single star, Mer is, however, my absolute favourite of the boutique group. Mostly a long, long counter built around a galley kitchen, it utterly nails vibes and affordable, modernist (all dishes possess a deft, contemporary touch) bistro style. The sourcing and cooking are, of course, insane and the staff charming, whilst that open-kitchen concept brings the insight of chefs at work in extremely close-quarters - making it all look effortless I should add. Simply put, even by modern era standards, Bistro strikes an often strived for, rarely achieved, balance.

I love the ease and casualness of the atmosphere - sitting at the bar you have a personal connection with the chefs preparing the dishes. Compared to other Michelin restaurants I find the portions here more substantial, the serving are enough that if you want to share different plates with your companions to try, you can do so. Our favourites were the crab cocktail and the Dutch shrimps for starters, the tuna toro and langoustines for seconds, and the monkfish and wagyu for main. You CAN NOT miss the wagyu. And the pistachio dessert was so good!

I’m not usually a fan of seafood, but I visited Bistro de La Mer with two colleagues and decided to give it a try. From oysters with caviar to eel croquettes and several other dishes, everything exceeded my expectations. The flavors were refined, the presentation beautiful, and every course felt like a small surprise. The desserts — especially the Dame Blanche and pistachio ice cream — were simply outstanding. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive, explaining each dish with genuine passion. Even the chef and manager took the time to stop by for a friendly chat. What a delightful and memorable evening! Bistro de La Mer turned out to be a culinary experience I never expected to love. Thank you to the entire team for making it truly special.

We had a reservation for lunch here and it turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip. You definitely need a reservation here — every seat was taken even during lunch service, and it’s easy to see why. From start to finish, everything was beautifully executed — both in flavor and presentation. To start, the kitchen sent out an amuse-bouche of lobster bisque in a tiny coffee cup — rich, oceany, and so comforting, especially for us Arizonans who were freezing in the Dutch “fall” weather (probably mild for locals, but it felt icy to us 😄). We each began with their special oysters (Gillardeau topped with O-toro tuna and Ossetra caviar) — fresh, briny, and luxurious. Each bite was a little explosion of the sea. The Beignet of Brandade was another standout: warm, bite-sized puffs topped with a generous scoop of caviar and a touch of sour cream — decadent and perfectly balanced. We shared several small plates, each one a delight. The raw mackerel with wasabi ice cream and vinaigrette was a party in the mouth — tangy, refreshing, and surprisingly harmonious. The razor clam salad was vibrant and clean, while the pan-fried scallops were tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. For mains, my husband ordered the pike-perch — delicately steamed, served with chicory, ham sauce, and autumn truffle — absolutely divine. I had the squid with peppers, which was so tender with just the right amount of heat. We skipped the dessert, because we had planned to go to get some cookies at Van Stapele after lunch. :) So we just ordered coffee and they gave us a couple of yummy madeleines. We each had a glass of Champagne to begin, followed by wine pairings. The total came to about USD $360 for the two of us — worth every euro for the quality, creativity, and service we received. A quick note: all the tables are high-tops with bar stools, but they’re quite comfortable, and it gives the restaurant a lively, open-kitchen vibe. Most diners at the bar seemed to be enjoying the set menu, but we went à la carte and were happy with our picks. Service was prompt, efficient, and genuinely friendly, and the chefs clearly know their craft — each dish came out beautifully timed and confidently presented. Overall, Bistro de la Mer is well deserving of its Michelin star — a cozy yet elegant seafood haven where every bite feels like a small celebration. Highly recommend for anyone looking for refined seafood and modern creativity in the heart of Amsterdam.

If you pass by this trap, please change sidewalks and run away. Not even equivalent to a lousy brasserie, I hate the person from the Michelin guide who left a bad review on this place and, how can anyone give a star to such a dive? We booked the basement lounge for 10 people including 3 children (well noted in the reservation). Not even special preparations for toddlers, they ate nothing except bread and butter but they paid the same price as adults. As for the meal and the service: pitiful from A to Z. We even had dessert with the bread and crumbs from the meal, still on the table!?... 150€/person with a bottle of white at 80€, not even an aperitif, nor coffee, so disgusted with the moment which should have been festive, my son's 40th birthday.... After contacting the manager and expressing my regret, the only response was: sorry we had a lot of people, that one is not good. I am now rushing to write to Michelin to get an explanation for this stolen star which cheated the customers.

What a wonderful evening at Bistro de la Mer! We started with a selection of oysters: Zeeland Flat, Zeeland Creuse, Irish Mór, and Gillardeau with caviar and tuna. All super fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. We also had a glass of Sebastian Daviaux Extra Brut champagne, wonderfully refreshing and the perfect way to start the evening. Then came the dishes: The mackerel with wasabi ice cream and a vinaigrette of oxtail vinegar and smoked sprat was a true taste sensation; the mackerel was buttery soft and the ice cream was refreshing and surprising. The Dutch shrimp with celeriac, horseradish, and XO sauce were wonderfully refined. The tuna O-toro "kissed by fire" with caponata was top-quality, super fresh, and bursting with flavor. The pan-fried langoustines with beetroot, smoked bacon, and a sauce of 1001 nights spices were perfectly cooked and full of character. The squid with padrón and nduja, squid and green pepper sauce was delicious and beautifully balanced. My absolute favorite was the monkfish "Rossini" with duck liver, umeboshi, and dashi-Albufera sauce, perfectly prepared and refined in every detail. To finish, the pistachio ice cream with caramelized white chocolate mousse and kataifi was so delicious it'll leave you speechless. Oh, and the service was super friendly, professional, and fast. A culinary experience from start to finish, with great attention to flavor, texture, and presentation. We will definitely be back!

Unfortunately, not a Michelin-worthy experience. The afternoon started chaotically: the welcome drink was forgotten, and attention was only received after we'd been beckoned. The service was spotty – wrong orders were given to tables next to us, dirty plates were left behind, and water wasn't refilled despite paying for service. No menu explanation beforehand, which made choosing a wine difficult (though there was an explanation of the dishes themselves). The amuse-bouche didn't arrive for an hour, and the first course took a long time. The restaurant looked unkempt (dust, cobwebs, broken chair), and the food was inconsistent: the carbonara with eel and truffle lacked balance, and the wasabi was served too often. All in all: a nice setup, but too many details were missed in the service and execution.

An evening at Bistro de la Mer can be summarized as a combination of high-quality food and noticeably chaotic service. The welcome was disorganized: it took a considerable time before we were helped, and even once we were seated, we had to wait for attention. After our glass of champagne was finally poured, a peculiar order followed: the amuse-bouche and the menu appeared before the promised appetizers (eel croquette and oyster), which arrived twenty minutes later. This inevitably detracted from the experience. The cuisine, on the other hand, received little but praise. The dishes – from the crab to the Dutch shrimp – were excellent in taste and demonstrated craftsmanship. However, here too, there were some service glitches: our appetizers initially ended up at the wrong table. With the second course, the scallops, the confusion was repeated. Only when the chef personally served the last two dishes did calm and precision return. Finally, the billing process also proved to be somewhat flawed. A miscue was corrected to our advantage—not our intention, but illustrative of an evening where Murphy's Law was looming. Conclusion: Bistro de la Mer's kitchen delivers high-quality dishes, but the service isn't up to par with what you'd expect from a restaurant in this segment. Those who come purely for the taste will be rewarded. Those expecting a flawless experience should hope that the organization behind the scenes gets back on track quickly.

I had the daily menu with fresh fish, and my partner chose the vegetarian option—both perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented, and surprisingly creative. What I especially remember is the balance between quality and price: for a central location in Amsterdam, you get more than your money's worth here. Even the little things make a difference: bread with homemade dip beforehand, the pace of the courses that was just right, and the genuine smiles at every table. Mediocre is the word I want to conclude. Chef seems know something about the fish, but maybe not as good as what Japanese do (don’t get me wrong, not a Japanese) If your fish is good and fresh enough, you don’t need to use forms or gelatin to make the taste richer. Otherwise it will ruin the taste of fish itself. And for the carbonara, don’t understand why truffle and eel. This smoked eel tastes like they directly bought from Hanos. If not, then sorry, maybe next time directly buy from Hanos and you can get the same flavor. The dessert is nice, and it’s nothing to do with fish.

You walk into this Michelin star restaurant and it looks like a bar. It was packed, completely full of patrons. I asked the person behind the bar if our reservation was in the bar, he said, this is the restaurant, ambient noise was very loud so I could not understand fully what the dynamic was. We sat at a high top table next to the wall less than 1 meter from the bar. I asked for a dry martini and the server said we don’t offer full bar drinks and that they would try and make a martini, at that point I looked around and saw the the bar was not a bar, but rather a kitchen behind the bar and all the patrons seated at the bar were dining. Just a very strange set up. The Martini came and it was awful. The person who made The drink had no idea what a Martini is, I sent it back and got a Negroni, that he knew how to make. Food was spectacular, servers explained each dish as you would expect in a Michelin star restaurant. But we saw small drain flies on the wall at our table, they looked like fleas but after we investigated they were 12 to 15 drain flies or mud flies just hanging out on the wall next to our heads. I did not like the atmosphere as it was too small and not a conducive space for a fine dining restaurant.

I started with a mackerel dish. Not my favorite fish, but the flavor pleasantly surprised me. Very good dish. Then I had the catfish. Served on green asparagus with sauce. The flavor was excellent. In my case, the sauce had already soaked into the fish quite a bit. This diminished the fish's texture. The thicker parts of the fish were better in that respect. And the flavor was good. The whole dish was nicely complemented by the delicious Spatburgunder. Dessert isn't my cup of tea. The blackberry and white chocolate dessert was also delicious, but the ice cream was too sweet for me, so I had to sell it to my partner :-)

1 star. The food is very very good. The atmosphere is old Dutch - dark, old, wood, etc. The big problem is timing. If you are not the first at 17:30, you will wait for long. But the stuff reacts to your complains and tries to bring the dishes faster. But it’s too many guests and small kitchen space. During lunch it’s much less problem.

Food was 4.5/5 for me. Overall good and tasty but not the best food I’ve ever had and thought portion was slightly small. Shrimp bisque is very fishy but I didn’t mind and enjoyed it. Cherry dessert was surprisingly enjoyable and a refreshing end to dinner. Bread and butter - 5/5. The highlight of my experience here. Crispy outside but soft inside. Tasty butter to pair with the bread. Service - 3/5. The worst part of the dining experience. We had told the server we would like to order wine after we ordered our food first. After our appetizer is served, we asked for the drinks menu again but they never brought us one. They also never changed our plates even though it was full of bread crumbs. Overall expected better for a Michelin restaurant. Atmosphere - 3/5. I was ok with the bar seats but noticed a ton of flies? on the wall which made the food a little unappetizing. I visited on a warmer day for Amsterdam and felt the restaurant was a little stuffy. Not entirely sure this is all within the restaurants’ control so kept overall rating a 4.

Mixed feelings. Yes, I enjoyed my meal everywhere. Was it worth the money? Well, well. Was everything tasty and more than enough? Well. Was the atmosphere and service good? Well, well. They ran out of eel croquettes, so we got shrimp croquettes. They cost €13/14 for two small ones, but you barely taste the shrimp and are mostly a starchy mass, with a hint of cinnamon when you add the tarragon mayo. A Holtkamp or fishmonger shrimp croquette is better. Starters 10/10 The rigatoni entree, for €33, has far too little eel. You don't taste any of it because of the pepper and truffle, so maybe it doesn't matter. Portions of both langoustine entrees were too small. Main course 8/10. Dessert 9/10, especially the pistachio. You eat very little everywhere, though you could certainly use an extra sandwich or some carbohydrates. Wine is poured upon delivery, and you can then empty your €100+ bottle yourself throughout the evening. The same goes for the €8 water bottle. The stools could use a subtle cushion. Tables along the wall should be 6cm lower, which is really odd. Especially when the appetizer comes in a tall glass; you can practically slide it into your mouth. The tables are also very grand café-like, 1990s style, which I don't think is appropriate for the food. Be careful if you're with two or more people; many seats are next to each other, so be sure to discuss this when making your reservation.

They charge you 4 eur per person for tap water. I spent a light lunch with 2 glasses of wine for the same money of a dinner with a bottle of wine. Food and service is ok but I will not come back to this place nor go to their Juweler to face the same. Wine cups are at least 10 and 14 and they pour you less than the minimum. Oysters are ok at 5. You will spend much more than you believe.

Despite seeing some negative reviews, I walked in without reservation (week day) and got a spot directly. Service had a good atmosphere with a fun team. The bisque served in entrance was strong in taste and intelligently presented. The crab as well, with very interesting texture. Only a bit mild despite the promises of jalapeños spices, same later for the octopus. Very well cooked and presented but quite mild despite n'duja in the recipe. Flavors were very good though and in the context of more northern countries not as used to pepperish and spicy tastes it remains quite normal. Desert infused in cherry beer was exceptional. Wine choice was also very relevant.

Discovered the restaurant through the Michelin app and was initially drawn to the seafood-focused menu. The amuse and starter were generally aligned with my preferences; however, the inclusion of the shrimp mustache in the starter was problematic — its size and texture were overly coarse and detracted from the overall dish. The main course featured wolfish prepared with miso, which I found somewhat bitter and not particularly well-balanced to my palate. The dessert, while competent, lacked creativity and failed to leave a lasting impression. Overall, the experience was acceptable, but the menu did not quite resonate with my personal taste.

We decided to spend our evening at this wonderful place. The main concept is that some dishes are prepared right in front of you at the bar, while around 70% are cooked in the main kitchen and then decorated and served by the chefs at the bar. A throwback that thinks forward, six types of Oysters plus one dressed in O-Toro and Caviar to start, Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot are also happy to offer gooey Eel Croquettas or a Crab Parfait beneath delicate Jalapeño Cream plus Spanish Prawn Tartare perfumed by Vanilla and Elderflower. I didn't think it was Michelin-worthy. My fish was too salty (I think because of the desiccant they put on it). My companion's wasn't. I did get another dish right away, but then you don't eat together anymore but in stages. And that's not okay. What I found most annoying was the seating. High tables and bar with very uncomfortable wooden stools. So after 1 hour you start sliding back and forth on the stools. And they are not properly adjusted to the height of the table. If you are small, you just slide the food down. Two dishes were in a high coupe so I had to take them on my lap to be able to eat them properly. I don't think it's worth repeating. Our experience at Bistro de la Mer was a mixed bag. Cordial staff and food was good, by and large. Wonderful oysters and the dutch shrimp was divine, however the rest was sub-par. Service left much to be desired. Long waiting times and staff seemed to be confused at times. Had to ask to be billed no less than three times. At the end we almost begged the staff to pay for our dinner! It felt that the staff was struggling with the volume of patrons. One would expect a michelin star resturant to be able to handle a busy Saturday better. Bistro de la Mer is a good semi-formal/semi casual dining place, especially for seafood lovers, but not a Michelin Star level one.

The chef explained what they cooked and how they cooked it and they serve you themselves. Also they really take what we feel seriously and exchanged when something didn't set right with the tastebuds as I didn't know they taste beforehand. Stumbled across this place while wandering around. The menu looked interesting and the restaurant looked inviting so went in. Pretty much every seat here is a chef's table, watching the team working hard to prepare the food is both fascinating and enjoyable. We selected a little lunch tasting menu. All the team were extremely friendly. Nice little explanation with every course by either a waitress or chef and the food was exceptional. Loved the layout of this place, the experience and of course the delicious food. My favourite eatery during my visit to Amsterdam, I hope to go back one day. Thanks!

I was very disappointed. The value for money was poor, and the food itself was not very tasty. I had high expectations because it was a one-star Michelin restaurant, but to be honest, I didn't think it was tasty at all. My wife and I had the Chef’s Menu (4-course tasting) and it was fantastic. We probably could have done one between the two of us since they were large portions, but made for a memorable experience nonetheless. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The butter that is served with the bread is phenomenal and the wine list is extensive. Would highly recommend for a nice dinner in Amsterdam and worthy of their star status in my opinion.

I went here for the restaurantweek and got a 5 course menu. I had it accompanied by some oysters before the meal. The quality of the food is amazing and balanced. It rarely happens that I don't prefer extra salt on my food. We were situated at the bar which was nice because we could observe the chefs in the kitchen. The main downsides were the comfortableness of the chairs and the service not always being clear in what we got to eat. But it happens when it's crowded!

Unfortunately did not live up to the expectation (of a Michelin star restaurant). Food was technically of a high standard as well as quality of ingredients, however the combination thereof and/or taste were nice however not great or fantastic and sometime just too simple in my taste. Only dish my wife and I really loved was the truffle pasta. Dame Blanche from the 80s as a desert which seemed the same as the local brasserie, why? Also sat on one of the tables on the side which had the same bar stools as the bar however the tables were higher so not really a comfortable sit. Scratched wooden table top may have been a funky design attempt, however risked looking cheap. Heavily scratched steps leading down to the basement for the restrooms, again do not get it. Basement was freezing cold. Forgotten coffee with the deserts.

An establishment where the food is quite good, the fish is treated with care and they know how to cook it, despite the fact that it is often combined with too strong flavors and almost all the dishes have meat, as if the fish alone were not tasty enough. The service is nice, but a little slow, and the fact that you are only served at the bar does not make it very easy and often drinks are spilled or the diner has to push the dishes to the waiter. The atmosphere is nice and quiet, but there are hardly any tables to sit at.

The Best and Amazing Meal to Remember in Amsterdam! Anantara Grand Hotel highly recommended us to try this Michelin star restaurant besides their own. So we did, big party in our tummies! Zyril was super friendly and helped us choose the best dishes! The crab appetizer creates a flavor bomb in my mouth and we could not stop having it, every bite with different flavors. The mussels are so fresh and melt in your mouth, perfectly done. My 14-year old absolutely surprised me as she normally does not like mussels but she had more than me! The Rigatoni had very generous amount of black truffles! It was done perfect Al dente. My monkfish with goose liver was unbelievably perfectly cooked and executed. After cleaning up the entire plate, I think I could have another one! To end a perfect meal, the pistachios dessert and Dutch madeleine, we finished every pieces! How could a mom and 14-y/o daughter could eat this much lunch! Absolute great meal to remember! Our highest recommendation and hand down outstanding restaurant in Amsterdam!

Highly recommend this bistro when in Amsterdam, especially for seafood lovers. From start to finish, every dish was a delight. The Gamba Roja is served crudo-style, appreciate its tenderness and natural sweetness, while deeper flavors gradually unfold on your palate. The North Sea crab cocktail, a house signature recommended by the staff, features delicate crab meat at the bottom, topped with avocado and a light foam. Once mixed, the layers create an enjoyable contrast of textures in every bite. The pan-fried squid was perfectly executed, while the Monkfish Rossini was a true highlight—the fish cooked al dente, with foie gras adding a rich, buttery depth to the dish. Worst dinner experience ever. I choose this place to share with my wife and kids to experience a good meal. They maybe be a good kitchen but they totally forgot about the human part of a restaurant. We arrive 15’ before the couple that was seated next to us. They bring the bread to them not only before us. They never bring the bread to us. We orden 15’ before them. They bring the exact same dish to them before us. Clearly there was an intention to tell us we have to leave. Maybe we weren’t that “chic” but I confirmed when after they bring the dishes to the couple that was next to us and we never get our dishes I asked for the check ( without ever received our dishes or tried at least a bit ) as a hint for them that they were giving us a really bad experience and the BRING THE CHECK. THEY VHARGE US FOR A DINNER WE NEVER GOT. So yo can have as many Michelin starts as you want but if you forgot about they main thing about having a restaurant that is bringing a great memory for another human being for me is worthless

Aangeboden door ons kroost uit dankbaarheid togen wij op een woensdagmiddag naar de Bistro de la Mer. Oudste dochter uitgerekend en op loopafstand. Wij kregen een 5-gangenmenu aangeboden. De amuse was een voortreffelijke bisque van Hollandse garnalen met salted lemon. Een waardig begin. Als extraatje namen we nog een portie oesters uit Ierland, Frankrijk en natuurlijk ons eigen Zeeland. Wat een geweldig product verse oesters, daar word je blij van. Terwijl de chef tegenover je Hollandse garnalen staat te pellen (uit Harlingen) krijgen wij onze eerste gang gepresenteerd. Een noordzeekrab cocktail met avocado en jalapeno. Dit is echt een topper en gaat ongetwijfeld een signature dish worden. We vervolgden met eengamba roja geplet met vanille en vlierbloesem. Heerlijk maar de vanille zorgde wat mij betreft voor wat onbalans in het smaakpalet. Maar een kniesoor die daar op let. De gestoomde mosselen in een saus van kerrie waren weer perfect op smaak. Daar zou je bijna je vingers bij opeten. Het hoofdgerecht was snoekbaars in een saus van zuurkool. Prachtig hoe de subtiele smaak van deze prachtige vis bewaard blijft en zelfs opgehaald wordt door de zuurkool en het kalamansi-citoenblad. Een geslaagd gerecht met uiterst delicate smaken. Het dessert was gemarineerde grapefruit met citrussorbet en riesling sabayon. Een waardige afsluiter van een fraaie culinaire middag.

Nice little restaurant, focused on fish (the name already reveals that), but you may come across something from a different animal here and there. So we got a delicious piece of duck liver on the catfish. Delicious food, lunch on December 24. Most places are at the bar, which gives a nice insight into the kitchen, you can see exactly what the chefs and service are doing. Plus a nice chat. Mini tour to the wine cellar, also suitable for private dining, from the super enthusiastic sommelier. All in all, great!

Avons réservé le salon en sous sol pour 10 personnes dont 3 enfants (bien notifié dans la réservation). Pas même de préparations spéciales pour les bambins, ils ont rien mangé à part du pain et du beurre mais ils on payé le même prix que les adultes. Quand au repas et le service: pitoyable de À à Z. On à même pris le dessert avec le pain et les miettes du repas, encore sur la table !?... 150€/personne avec une bouteilles de blanc à 80€, même pas d'apéritif, ni café, tellement dégoutés du moment qui aurait dû être festif, les 40 ans de mon fils.... Après mettre rapproché du responsable et exprimé mon regret, la seule réponse a été: désolé on avait du monde, elle n'est pas bonne celle là. A few days ago I went to eat at @bistrodelamerams. A cozy fish restaurant in Amsterdam on the Utrechtsestraat. When you enter you can smell that it is a fish restaurant without the fish smell being dominant. It smells slightly salty and I can't wait to taste the dishes. You can choose to eat at the bar or at a two-person console table. I chose the latter. The table hangs on the wall, quite high. You sit on a stool. That sounds uncomfortable, but it was actually fine. The table does not have much space, but because the dishes are served on one plate, this is easy to do. We were greeted by friendly staff who all know what they are serving and explain it in detail. We got a Bisque on the house and a glass of Champagne. The menu is not large and that is a good thing because there are so many beautiful dishes on it that it is difficult to choose even now. I finally chose: • Starter: North Sea crab cocktail with avocado and jalapeño ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (complete combination, excellent) • Intermediate course: Steamed mussels, kalamansi-lime leaf vinaigrette and curry sauce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ (the curry sauce was really great) • Main course: Monkfish “Rossini”, with fried duck liver, umeboshi and dashi-Albufera sauce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ (nice firm fish with a nice sauce, but strong) • Dessert: Pistachio ice cream, caramelized white chocolate mousse and kataifi ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ (best dessert ever, pistachio ice cream where luckily the pistachio was not overpowering) The presentation of all dishes was beautiful. Prepared with love and lots of attention. For me that is already 50% of a restaurant experience. So a big 10 for this. The dishes were all a true explosion of taste. Each dish made me curious about the next dish. And even though I was really stuffed and not really a “dessert person,” I decided to have dessert. And WOW, this really was the best dessert ever. This bistro is a gem! We booked the 4 course tasting menu for NYE 2024. I’m vegan but my travel friend is not. Wow!! The head chef excels at accommodating and complex flavors!! The vegan broth was seaweed based with a complex umami to die for! The Beets were delicious with a multi flavor vinaigrette. The mushroom pasta also was packed with flavor to deeply satisfy. In the nice top 100, with a Michelin star, then you go for experience... Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. The arrival was fine, nice casual atmosphere in a narrow, noisy restaurant with an open kitchen/bar where all the staff were busy working together. The coats were not accepted, you could hang them in a mini wardrobe and mostly over the bar stools where the guests sat. We had reserved a console table, I think it was just 60-70 cm wide, the stools were too low so that at 1.85m I only had to lower my head to eat from my plate. The table was so full that the cutlery was in a box and the menu had to be placed on my lap while I was turned so that I did not bump my elbow against the wall. Woman's bag had to be put on the floor because the bag hooks were loose. Sloppy. A friendly, slightly unusual host came to give some advice about the menu and wine. Wine was delicious (Chablis) bread with butter too. Amuse arrived, excellent Dutch shrimp bisque. Despite the strange table, we were looking forward to it. Another waiter suddenly came to take our order, just after he left our host came to ask the same thing again. Then our entree was served, instead of our starter. Could happen, but they walked away with it again without saying anything. The starter came, a kind of prawn carpaccio with vanilla and elderflower, there was no balance at all and too much vanilla. "The chef says that's how it should be", we were allowed to do that. Other starter was king crab was tasty, a 7, presentation nothing special. Intermediate course mussel, tasty, foam too high in taste but tasty, a piece of celery in each mussel, abundant. Main course to cry about. Perfectly cooked squid, without taste, topped with sharp spices, a black pool of sauce and 2 padron peppers. I'm still thinking about what the intention was. Pike perch okay, but certainly not Michelin worthy in terms of presentation and refinement. We just left without coffee or desert. Feedback given, some dishes from the bill, decent but not relevant, was a very mediocre start to a special evening for us.

Or the personal is too dump or lazy to fix an appointment properly. Maybe food is excellent (we had a wonderful experience in the Juwelier) but a Michelin starred restaurant should also work on service before dinner. I am really disappointed and angry.

Very pleasant atmosphere and relaxed service. The dishes are strongly seasoned - you have to like that. The mussels in curry foam and the monkfish with duck liver were quite excellent. It also fills you up well - so we only had a sweet wine for dessert :)

Very disappointing experience. The burger was extremely dry and almost tasteless. The vegetables felt undercooked and added no flavor at all. We asked to replace the burger with a steak, but the steak arrived after a very long wait and looked honestly terrible. It was not properly cooked, so we decided to cancel it altogether. The fries were another letdown — both too dry and too oily at the same time, which made them unpleasant to eat. The only thing that was somewhat okay was the mac & cheese, but unfortunately one decent item can’t save the overall experience. For the price and expectations, this was far below standard. I wouldn’t normally write a negative review, but this visit really missed the mark.

Decent taste pasta for a reasonable price point considering Amsterdam. Would recommend penne à la vodka with shrimps.
