Bistro Fred in Wijk 19 Joure

A classy "bistro," more like a restaurant. Definitely worth a visit in Joure—and then a quick stop at the ice cream parlor next door. Delicious.

Good place to sit and have a drink

The food here is super good! Both lunch and dinner are delicious! For lunch the Jouster sandwich or the Club Sandwich is really our favorite! Very friendly service! Definitely recommended to eat in Joure.

It was very busy because of the nice weather. The staff (and the kitchen and the bar) could barely keep up. Despite that, we ate well. We only had to wait a very long time for the well-prepared dishes. The staff did keep smiling and attentive.

We happened to pass by here during a weekend trip to Friesland, looking for dinner... We saw an empty table for 4 people and were immediately welcomed. The food was super super delicious! We had the curries, two burgers and a portion of bitterballen with fries. Everything was very tasty, top service and cozy atmosphere! We will be back!

Wir waren am Sonntag mal wieder im Bistro Fred. Leider war es diesmal nicht mehr ok 😞. Kleine Portionen, das Spargelgericht war ein Witz, ohne Vorspeise wird da keiner satt. Bei der Entenbrust fehlte das Kartoffelgratin und ein extra bestellter Salat wurde gleich ganz vergessen 😞. Nur einen Punkt gibt es dafür, dass mein Freund und ich beim bezahlen am Tresen beobachten konnten, dass einer Bedienung ein Spieß mit 3 Kroketten oder ähnlich vom Teller fiel. Auf dem Rückweg zur Küche legte Sie den Spieß wieder auf den Teller und machte sich wieder auf den Weg zum Gast 😳 Ich sag nur guten Appetit 🫣 Das geht gar nicht !!! Bistro Fred, für uns nicht wieder

Just had a super meal at Fred's. Have been staying in Joure for a few days and several people had recommended we come here. we are not vegetarian, but ordered vegetarian food and it was superb. Very friendly service, good music and a cosy, friendly atmosphere. A really great evening.

Bediening top ! Ambiance goed Eten dramatisch !! Ribeye stuk karton, en ik vraag me überhaupt af of het wel ribeye was. Alleen voor twee stukken vlees en een broodplankje met 5 glazen (goede) wijn 76 E betaald. Hier eet ik nooit meer !

Afgelopen week mosselpan gegeten. Een uur na inname enorme buikpijn.en buikloop .Zeer waarschijnlijk een bedorven mossel. Bij telefonisch contact verhaal gedaan. Reactie medewerkster en baas Fred: vervelend , kan gebeuren.

Delicious food (I had the menu which is mentioned separately: salmon tartare as starter, guinea fowl as a main course and a delicious dessert afterwards), and a very friendly lady from the service at the table! We will definitely come again even though we don't live nearby!

Had a wonderful evening on the terrace. Delicious food, excellent price-quality ratio. Nice modest service. Delicious bread. Dishes have an excellent balance between taste, presentation and quantity. Only the patio chairs are not comfortable, which is a shame.

Het Jouster broodje was zeer smakelijk en ook nog gezond en voor een aantrekkelijke prijs - een aanrader. We zaten bij goed weer op terras buiten op een comfortabele bank.

Snelle, goede en vriendelijke bediening. Heerlijk geluncht 😃😃 Niet een heel uitgebreide kaart maar wat er op staat prima. Ruime keuze voor vega en zelfs koolhydraat arm op de kaart!

Have been coming to Joure regularly for years as part of a day trip. Just like that, or because of a festival or whatever, such as the 'Boerebrulloft'. Had a perfect day. The harness racing on unsaddled horses in particular appeals to me on that day. But now...."Bistro Fred" on the Douwe Egbertsplein. My favorite lunch address. Ideal as a rest or starting point or whatever. Conveniently located. Lovely terrace, pleasant, attractive interior. Everything clean, excellent and clean sanitary facilities, pleasant and fast service, excellent price/quality ratio, etc. In short... if you are in Joure, or it is on your route, this is definitely an address to go to. Just do it! You will definitely come back afterwards!!! I certainly do! Had 2 favorites there for lunch Carpaccio/brown bread and the BistroLunch (Carpaccio/bread instead of Chicken sandwich, Croquette/bread, Mustard soup). All delicious! Highly recommended. Ed Jansen

Nice atmosphere and lots of selection. Unfortunately only two vegetarian dishes. But that was also very good.

Vies, vies, vies!! Wij aten op het terras. De tafels en kussens in de stoelen waren heel erg vies en ons bestek werd, NAAST het servet, precies in de viezigheid neergelegd. We kregen een schaaltje met pinda's en zout , waar een dikke zwarte haar in zat. Mijn man at een uitensoep vooraf en daarna een hamburger, die niet gaar was van binnen (hamburgers mogen nooit als biefstuk gebakken worden!) . Tot overmaat van ramp werd hij dezelfde nacht mega ziek; heeft 5 dagen buikloop gehad. Kortom, dit restaurant echt NOOIT meer!!!

Good food, good extensive menu and not very expensive

What a nice and pleasant service! But most importantly, beautiful and tasty dishes! The four of us enjoyed the daily menu and also the menu separately! Name one downside? Well, go ahead, you have to order the vegetables and/or fries separately!

Excellent three-course menu with an excellent price-quality ratio. Tasty and surprising. Very smooth and friendly service. We were just having drinks and asked if we could switch tables because it was quieter for our dachshund. No problem! A recommended dining opportunity. Compliments. Eating on a nice, warm Sunday evening should be a celebration. That did not go well. Most dishes on the menu were sold out by 7:30 PM. The "choice" of only 1 dish remained for both of us. How can you go so wrong if you already know a week in advance that it will be the first warm Sunday and the terrace will probably be full?

Ended up in Joure by boat this afternoon, had lunch at Bistro Fred, super tasty! Decided to eat again tonight, it was really top quality for a great price! Cheers! The smoked ribeye starter was masterful, really good.

Staff were very friendly, but the food took a long time and came across as tired. The sandwich beforehand was fine, dips very sparse and not very tasty. Asparagus not peeled properly, baby potatoes still very hard and a lot of nutmeg over the entire dish, which destroyed the taste of the asparagus. Indicated, nothing offered in compensation and had to pay the full price. We won't go again

Wine tasted stale, probably the bottle had been open for a long time. Sandwiches with very little spread and what was there was certainly not special. We had to wait a long time for the main course and when we got it, the potatoes were not cooked and the asparagus was not properly peeled. We also missed the sauce that comes with the dish in the photos on Google. Indicated this at the end and thanked us for our feedback, but not compensated.

As always, when we are on holiday in Friesland/NL, a visit to the small, very comfortably furnished "Bistro Fred" is a must. Delicious, creatively prepared food, very good wines, Brand-Pilsener (the oldest ((1340)) brewery in the Netherlands) on tap, always attentive, perfect service... what more could you want?! Kind regards from Bremen. We look forward to the next culinary experience.

Unbedarft sind wir in Freds Bistro eingekehrt. Zuerst Vorspeisen, dann auf Nachfrage auch die Dinnerkarte bekommen. Leider nicht des niederländischen so mächtig, also auf englisch bestellt. Was kam war sehr überraschend und besonders schmackhaft. Fisch des Tages, Meeresfrüchtemix und da Missverständnis meinerseits, ein paniertes Schnitzel, mit Gemüse und Speckstreifen, welches mich dann extrem überrascht hat. Noch nie so ein leckeres Schnitzel gegessen. Hab erst beim Essen bemerkt, dass es kein Fisch war. Schlussendlich rundum gelungene Speisen in einem urgemütlichen Restaurant. We went to Fred's Bistro without any preconceived notions. First appetizers, then on request also get the dinner menu. Unfortunately, not the Dutch so powerful, so ordered in English. What came was very surprising and particularly tasty. Fish of the day, seafood mix and since misunderstanding on my part, a breaded schnitzel, with vegetables and bacon strips, which then surprised me extremely. Never eaten such a delicious schnitzel. Did not notice until eating that it was not fish. Finally, all around successful food in a very cozy restaurant.

Wir haben zu zweit am Nachmittag obwohl noch Lunchzeit war eine Riesenportion Muscheln im Topf in einem sehr leckeren Sud bekommen. Dazu knusprige dicke Fritten, Knoblauch- und Currysauce. Ich esse gerne und öfters Muscheln und diese waren wirklich außerordentlich lecker. Weiter so!

Wir hatten an einem Mittwoch Abend einen Tisch für 4 Personen reserviert. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und haben dort vorzüglich gespeist. Die Vorspeisen, die Paella und das Desert waren Spitzenklasse und wir haben in den 7 Tagen in Friesland nirgendwo besser gegessen.

Heerlijke mosselen, pro-actieve, humoristische en vriendelijke bediening, gezellig terras.

Vandaag heerlijk gegeten waarbij de bediening van Samantha wel heel plezierig was. Heerlijk opgewekt, behulpzaam gewoon een hele fijne bediening en het eten smaakte voortreffelijk. Een aanrader als je in Joure bent.

Het duurde even voordat we geholpen werden en ook het serveren van de drankjes duurde lang. Buiten stond een menu wat eigenlijk pas voor het diner was, dat was bij binnenkomst voor ons onduidelijk. Maar goed we konden het toen we erom vroegen wel bestellen. Voor een diner maaltijd vinden we het niet heel veel, wel genoeg voor een lunch, maar daar was het dan wel iets te prijzig voor. Het smaakte wel lekker.
