During our stay at the hotel, we dined at this bistro, having made a reservation through the hotel reception. We received a friendly welcome and received very prompt service. We chose the three-course menu (which you won't find until the end of the menu). The dishes were beautifully presented and delicious, so excellent value for money. Highly recommended during your stay at Van der Valk Eindhoven.

Dinner is always good at Van der Valk. The service isn't just in Dutch, it's Eindhoven, so well... not a problem for me. One comment about the airflow, though: it's not ideal if you have a table right under it, but luckily we were able to move. I would also ask those using laptops during dinner to sit in a different area instead of the restaurant.

When we arrived, they didn't speak much Dutch, but it was okay. We were shown to our seats, where we sat in a somewhat outdated chair that wasn't very comfortable, but that was okay too. The sandwich we received wasn't very tasty, and the oil on the table was simply disgusting. The starter was very tasty; one person had a salad, the other a steak tartare. It was presented very nicely and served at the table. The main course was also excellent. Dessert was so-so; I didn't see anything special, so I opted for coffee and a cognac. The lady serving us came back and greeted us with good evening for the umpteenth time. I asked her what cognac they had, but she didn't know and went to ask. A man returned with coffee and cognac, but I had to guess which one it was. It was also served in a beer glass, which was quite unusual. Our daughter and partner's desserts were okay, but we did have to ask for cutlery. I would also recommend rinsing a cup that children are allowed to bring before taking it. When we asked for the bill, each table also received a candy; I think we'd run out. All in all, there is still some potential in this restaurant! Regards

The chicken was raw. The lettuce had no dressing. The fries were cold. The risotto was brine-salted. After sending it back, the same chicken came back hard and dry. And the salad didn't have the nuts. One of the teenage staff members said the chicken was probably supposed to be raw. We were offered a free drink. We got sick during the night. And couldn't keep anything down. Both of us. The next day, the first day of our vacation, we were still sick.

Yesterday, we went to dinner at this restaurant with mixed feelings after reading several reviews, and to our surprise, the food was delicious and the service was top-notch! The atmosphere was lively, and everything went smoothly! I chose the three-course menu, which was offered for €44. Absolutely fantastic for the price! My wife had the mussels, which were also delicious... In short, a big fat 5 stars for this restaurant, and we'd love to return.

The restaurant is nice, the food could be better… I went a few times and overall it's not bad. I don't speak English or Dutch, but I tried the last time I used a translator to order a coffee and something to eat. The waiter brought me milk and never came back to my table, even though I tried to call him again. I felt such disdain that I wanted to cry. I will never go back.

The staff is useless. Completely un-attentive. Our "waiter" was walking around having long conversations with people and completely ignoring us. In the end we collared a young waitress who appeared new but was very sweet and helpful and she managed to get us both our starter and main course even though it did take two hours. She is the only reason I have given two stars. The first "waiter" also took our drinks voucher but didn't apply it to the bill.

June 16, 2025, we had dinner here with five people. The service was good. The staff was attentive. The food was also good. However, they put beer mats under many of the tables to stabilize them. Personally, I find the round tables too small for five people. It's also strange that you get four bowls of fries for a group of five. But we asked for and received extra.

The service was inattentive and unresponsive. The meat wasn't cooked properly, medium, but I received it rare. I sent it back, and the same steak was cut in half and cooked. The flavor was completely gone. The asparagus was overcooked, and it wasn't clear whether the baby potatoes were fried or boiled. All in all, a disappointing experience; I wouldn't recommend it again!

Too few staff, and therefore long, very long waits for the next rounds of our High Tea. The distribution of appetizers was illogical, for example, with 6 people, we had 3, 4, or 5 appetizers. The appetizers, or rather, the food, were absolutely fine 👍🏻

Ouch, this was a bit disappointing. Not the food, because there was nothing wrong with that. But the service was truly terrible. We waited at least fifteen minutes for a menu, there was little attention from the staff (not even upon arrival), the service was chaotic, and we waited a long time for the bill. Such a shame.

Onderweg naar Nijmegen hebben we een tussenstop gemaakt bij hotel Vander Valk om de wagen op te laden aan de tesla supercharger. Super gemakkelijk want bij het hotel hoort ook een brasserie waar de lunch kan genomen worden. Wij hadden alles al vooraf gepland en ook het menu online bekeken. Groot was de teleurstelling als bleek dat de kaart minder keuze biedt dan online vermeld. Nog groter werd de teleurstelling toen gemeld werd dat 1 van onze keuzes niet beschikbaar was en we iets anders moesten kiezen. Bijgevolg kregen 3 van ons de warme maaltijd voorgeschoteld en moest de vierde persoon een kwartier wachten tot het bord op tafel kwam. Toch wel een lange tijd om enkele eieren met kaas te bakken. Niet aangenaam voor deze persoon om te beginnen eten wanneer de anderen al bijna klaar zijn. Dit kon gemakkelijk vermeden worden als de kelners op voorhand zouden geïnformeerd worden wat niet beschikbaar is. Nochtans was de bediening anders wel uitstekend.

Made a reservation here for dinner on the way back from Utrecht. Chosen Natural mussels. I suspect these were about the worst portion of mussels I have ever eaten. To start with the fries were cold. The top layer of the mussels was also cold and the bottom one was very muddled, almost hot. Which indicates they were warmed up. Mussels nature is also a wrong name. Previously boiled mussels in water. No taste at all and I easily got all the vegetables together in 1 tablespoon. When the person who came to pay asked if everything was okay, I reported all of this. His response: "This is the first time someone has said the mussels were not OK." Which I also thought was a completely inappropriate response! I invited him to take a tablespoon and taste it... then it became quiet. Money wasted

Last night we had dinner at Van der Valk Eindhoven/Brasserie Martinus. Shocking how bad. Order was not recorded properly, so we did not receive the bread we ordered in advance. The portions are really very meager. The menu states "Our main courses are served with fresh fries and mayonnaise", but this is a lie. When we asked about this, we were told that the salmon did contain mashed potatoes. Yes, two teaspoons that is! We then ordered extra fries, but that only came after asking several times and the portion size was really a shame. The Chateaubriand was also a disappointment. The Dame Blanches were supposed to be served with 3 scoops of ice cream, but you also had to look for those with a magnifying glass. And all that for just under EUR 50 per person. A shame for those prices.

Zaterdagmiddag geluncht met 7 personen. We vonden de lunchkaart erg beperkt, maar opzich was het nog wel te doen. Bestelden soep vooraf en daarna uitsmijter. Kregen de soep met brood en het bord met de uitsmijter gelijktijdig geserveerd! Daarna werd mijn nog half volle flesje bronwater meegenomen door de serveerster , en aan het eind bleek de Almond koffie die wel op de kaart stond niet te bestaan😱🙈. Ook het bestellen van een ijsje was niet mogelijk! Maar goed de soep was lekker de afgekoelde uitsmijter ook wel. Aan het einde afgerekend ( de rekening door tweeën laten splitsen) en dus door onze vrienden en onszelf betaald. Lopen we de hal in komt er serveerster achter ons aangerend dat we niet betaald hadden! Erg gezellig als al die mensen om je heen je staan aan te gapen. Voor ons dus na meer dan twintig jaar traditie geen van der valk Eindhoven meer!

The ambiance added little to the overall experience. My experience with the high tea was further clouded by the unfriendly staff. Unfortunately, their lack of hospitality added another disappointing element to my visit. I hope these comments help improve the overall service at this location.

Op onze terugrit van Limburg naar Noord Holland zochten we een plek om even snel langs de snelweg te kunnen eten. We waren met vijf volwassenen en drie kinderen. De kindermenu's waren erg royaal. Het voorgerecht was iets te veel van het goede, maar o zo smaakvol (tomatensoep). De volwassenen hadden garnalen cocktail en vitello tonato wat erg lekker was. Als hoofdgerecht hadden we de zalm, sukade, vispotje en kreeft. Allemaal erg lekker. Het toetje (witte dame) was iets minder, omdat het ijs wat kristalletjes bevatte. Alsof het al een keer lichtelijk was gesmolten en opnieuw in de vriezer was gedaan. De koffie was wel weer helemaal prima. Al met al was het boven verwachting verrassend lekker!

Hier gegeten met 7 man. Bij iedereen scheelde er wel wat aan. Droge kipsaté en de saté was ver te zoeken. Koud voorgerecht of carpaccio met heel veel mayonaise er over heen. Witte zalm, droog varkenshaasje met harde buitenkant of een vispannetje met teveel saus. Wel jammer want we hebben er wel vaker gegeten. Ook moesten we 40 minuten wachten op het dessert en het was niet eens heel lekker. De rekening 356 euro en alleen een excuus.

Eerste drankje …..5 vd 6 mensen heeft zn drankje, en na een tijdje moeten we zelf vragen of ze aub t drankje (die we op de bar zien staan) willen brengen. We kunnen eindelijk proosten. Eten besteld…..15 min later komen ze zeggen dat de mosselen op zijn. Uur na aankomst, vragen we of we wat brood mogen (honger) en hoe lang t jog gaat duren. Eindelijk voorgerecht! Dat was goed. Half uur later hoofdgerecht. De steaks waren koud. Kip sate bedekt met pindasaus en kroepoek chips. En zelfs de frietjes waren hard en aangebrand. Druk was t niet, dus daar kon t niet aan liggen. We dachten vd Valk, lekker id buurt, eten niet slecht, hier gaan we dineren. Nou dit vd Valk restaurant…..waardeloos.

Went out for dinner for the first time yesterday. The atmosphere was very nice and nice, but the waitresses were very short. For example, the waitress came to us for the first time, her opening line was just 'Hi'... Didn't sound very pleasant. Furthermore, we had both had the main course and during dessert we discovered that we had not had our fries. So I actually paid a lot for a smaller schnitzel. Dessert was tasty, but already melted when it arrived... We'll have to think about whether we'll go here for the second time.

3 stars. We had to wait 15 minutes until someone finally came to us to indicate a place where we could sit. The employees were all very friendly. The food is delicious, but the price-quality ratio is very poor. With the satay: 1 skewer, small pot of vegetables, handful of prawn crackers and a mini bowl (in which you normally serve tapas) fries for 2 people, instead of getting them per person. And that for just under €22. The prices on the menu on the website are no longer correct, it has all gone up.

Come for lunch with 8 people. Were quickly led to a table. It took 20 minutes before the menus were brought and the drinks were taken. Apart from a wood splinter in the satay, there was nothing to complain about the food. Reported this to the floor manager, but we did not see him again. The coffee after dinner was served between the dirty plates. Two employees reported that they were coming to clean up, but they thought the empty tables around were more important. There was no greeting upon departure. Sorry about the bad service!

Driegangenmenu bij Van der Valk. Het personeel was niet in staat om gasten te verwelkomen, we hebben na vijf minuten wachten bij de ingang onszelf moeten verwelkomen. Het menu kwam wel snel bij ons terecht. Vervolgens hebben we echter 50 minuten moeten wachten op ons voorgerecht. Op het bord van de soep paste een hele pizza, alleen er zat maar 100ml soep in. Het hoofdgerecht was oke. Vervolgens weer een uur moeten wachten op de rekening na het aanvragen. Zelfs op Schiphol tijdens de zomermaanden moet je minder lang wachten.

Al jaren vaste klant bij van der Valk, eten is altijd goed maar de laatste tijd zijn er alleen Engelstalge mensen in dienst lijkt wel. Nu heb ik daar geen probleem mee maar als ze van te voren zouden vragen of men het een probleem vindt dat ze alleen Engels kunnen spreken komt dat veel vriendelijker over dan klanten per abuis in het Engels aanspreken. Het is maar een tip! Nog beter zou het zijn voordat ze deze vraag zouden stellen als ze toch de woorden goedemorgen, goedemiddag en goedenavond kunnen zeggen.

17 maart j.l. zijn wij wezen eten bij Brasserie Martinus. De avond begon goed, aardig personeel en snel geholpen. Wij kozen voor de 3 gangen. Het voorgerecht kwam redelijk snel op tafel. De hoofdgerechten volgden niet snel daarna. We hadden 2x kipdij sate en 1x de varkenshaas. Helaas waren zowel de sate als de varkenshaas erg droog en smaakloos. Ook waren de boontjes bij de sate erg taai. Wij hebben dan ook niet alles opgegeten en dit gemeld bij het personeel. Helaas kwam hier geen feedback op terug. Voordat de tafel helemaal was leeg geruimd werd het dessert al gebracht. Graag hadden wij even willen wachten na het hoofdgerecht en hadden we wat later met een lekker kopje koffie van ons dessert willen genieten. Het voelde dan ook erg gehaast en hebben met moeite direct na het hoofdgerecht ons dessert naar binnen gewerkt. Wij zijn vaker bij een van der Valk wezen eten en zijn nog nooit teleurgesteld naar huis gegaan, maar wij zullen op deze locatie niet snel terug komen.

The museum is great, but the food at Brasserie Next is truly awful. It's bottom-of-the-barrel fast-food quality. Getting a 3D-printed burger sounds cool, but it just tastes like a bad veggie burger. The garnish is also basic and uninspired. We had two different burgers, and each was bad in its own way. By the way, I have nothing against veggie burgers in general, but these were terrible. The fries—like the burgers—were lukewarm and undercooked. The architecture of the space and the view of the pond and the UFO are wonderful. So: best to just look, not eat! Oh, and the cappuccino was perfectly fine. And the prices are from the future: expensive!

So sad to hear this wonderful cafe is closing its doors on 24 March! I have enjoyed the few visits here since coming to Eindhoven in January. It’s one of the best places in the city and it will be missed. Take the opportunity to visit before it closes. The coffee is amazing.

The food at Brasserie Rita was fine in itself — the mussels were well-prepared, and the dessert (lava cake) was also delicious. But the service was truly subpar. The starter (classic shrimp cocktail) unexpectedly included avocado, which I'm allergic to. When I pointed this out immediately, the waiter reacted downright rude and defensive. Instead of offering any input or apology, I ended up arguing about allergens. Eventually, a new plate was brought, but without an explanation and with fewer garnishes than the original. For the rest of the evening, no one came by to ask if we wanted another drink or if everything was to our liking, even though there were only three occupied tables. No explanation was given about the cheese board either. In short: compliments to the kitchen, but the service and hospitality leave much to be desired. It's a shame, because it significantly detracts from the overall experience.
