Burgerlijk in Wijk 00 Centrum

We were the first of the evening. We were greeted by staff who spoke only English. After placing our order, someone returned within a minute to inform us that the starter and main course were out of stock and that I could order something else. Strange, considering we were the first, and then they should have taken it off the menu or told us beforehand. When one of the waiters asked if everything had been good and we indicated we were finished, he simply left our plates and walked away. We still wanted coffee, but the staff was too busy ignoring everyone else. The toilet was littered with paper, which wasn't very inviting. The food we received wasn't bad at all, very tasty, but you don't go here for hospitality and service.

A fantastic, cozy burger restaurant, and the burgers are out of this world, truly SO delicious!! Unfortunately, we were only in town for the weekend, otherwise I would come back again and again 😊 The service was so lovely and friendly; we even received complimentary aperitifs and dessert and had a wonderful, relaxing evening that we will remember forever and that made our weekend perfect. Thank you so much 🧡 Highly recommended!

Mini burger, long wait and not special in taste, no not again

I really enjoyed eating at Burgerlijk; they had so many interesting and original burgers, a refreshing change from so many others! The service was excellent, and our food arrived quite quickly. The portions were generous, at least for me, and most importantly, it was absolutely delicious. Honestly, a fantastic find! I'll be back 😊

A wide variety of burgers, including vegetarian and fish options. However, the meat wasn't very good. The sides were good, especially the fries and salad. They also had several cocktail options. The service was a bit slow. Overall, it was reasonably priced.

The staff showed little initiative, and our sauce didn't arrive until our fries were almost cold. The baked potato wasn't good. Overall, the burgers were good, but the pulled pork lacked flavor, and the green beans on the Black Tiger burger were actually green beans, which we found an unusual combination. The price was high, because you pay extra for side dishes and sauce. We had made a reservation for 9, but were given two separate tables, which we ended up pushing together ourselves.

terrible service and the check didn’t add up. They charged us too much money for our drinks and didn’t even apologise after admiting they made a mistake. We also had to wait 40 minutes to get our cold burgers.

I have been asking for my missing payslips for months on end and the owner has been ignoring me. Very shady and illegal stuff is happening in this place and it needs to be checked by the authorities. The rats are crawling all over the kitchen, the management is not taking health concerns of employees seriously, and the food itself is rotten and still served. (This is from the past experiences of old employees, now the reality could be different). Be aware when visiting that your money is supporting a very deficient and unethical business environment.

I've already eaten here a few years ago, and at the time it was a nice place to enjoy good burgers. Unfortunately, our recent return was a disappointment. The portions were small, and the meat was really cooked to perfection. The hamburger didn't seem to have been seared properly: it tasted more like boiled meat than grilled, perhaps because a frozen product had released a lot of water during cooking? That's the impression it gave. It wasn't inedible, but that's not what anyone goes to a restaurant for. Also, the burger was supposed to be truffle-flavored, but it didn't taste like truffle at all. It's a shame, because the service was pleasant, the decor was nice, and the wait time was good.

Awesome! The best (vegan) burgers in Maastricht and the surrounding area. For a tasty burger and fries, Burgerlijk is the place to be. They have a wide selection of delicious and original burgers, snacks, and delicious fries. There are also several options for vegans. Our favorite is the vegan tempeh burger. And for dessert, they have the most delicious vegan tiramisu ever—highly recommended. Burglijk is a cozy restaurant in the heart of Maastricht that just keeps getting better. The staff and owner are very friendly and helpful. Manager Ard and chef Amirreza are fantastic. We always enjoy coming to Burgerlijk and enjoy the most delicious burgers every time. Burgerlijk is burger-delicious! Highly recommended for everyone!

The food was delicious! Plenty of very good, tasty vegan options. The sweet potato fries were a bit overcooked, and the burger had too much mayo for my liking.

The seaweed burger was simply "beyond," with a green-colored bun and different sauce, way too soggy. Drizzly music that was too overpowering, and a very dirty restroom. A bad experience. The staff was friendly, though.

Not recommended. THERE ARE RATS! I have seen them with my own eyes. The burgers are very expensive considering they are not even homemade. The quality of the bread is very bad, it's also bought bread that comes packaged in a plastic bag full of preservatives. The burgers are nothing special, the only thing different are the sauces, maybe mayonnaise with something. There are many places in Maastricht where you can enjoy and eat quality food. Burguerlijk is NOT one of them.

Everything was super good: the burgers, the drinks, the service, the place. They also offer gluten free burgers and it didn’t disappoint. The staff was even careful to mention the sauces that contained gluten.

We went around 1:00 PM and there were few people there. They have a wide variety of burgers, with vegetarian and vegan options. The waiter was super attentive and friendly the whole time. Personally, my burger was quite good, and for dessert, a spectacular Oreo milkshake.

A wonderful, owner-run restaurant offering a variety of dishes, primarily specialty dishes. Delicious, whether fish, veal, chicken, or soy, each dish is an experience in its own way. The service is very friendly and unobtrusively attentive. This small restaurant also impresses with its simple, cozy atmosphere and truly good music. If you're in Maastricht, you should stop here for an evening.

We had to wait for 45 minutes for the burgers. They were very tasty. The atmosphere was a bit chilly, as was the temperature. The waitress was wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt, which was rather unusual considering the approaching freezing temperature outside. We were simply cold, but felt too embarrassed to eat in our coats. Not recommended.

It takes a while to get your food but when it comes, everything is hot and ready at the same time. Good/big portion sizes. No complaints about anything. Worth the wait!

We've been there about three times. Had a good burger, but the price-quality ratio is a bit off. Every time, a minimum wait of an hour for a single burger? Last time, there was a women's sorority or party going on, 12 people screaming and singing at the top of their lungs, and the staff happily joining in and filming, etc. It was great fun while you're trying to eat, but your Apple Watch is peaking at 95 dB. When we told them we'd waited an hour and 20 minutes this time, we were told there was a large group. Unfortunately, this is always the case, even when there are only a few people. It's strange how, during that hour, not a single burger left the kitchen, and in the last 20 minutes, burgers arrived one by one. This time, everyone around us was complaining. The annoying thing about this was that it felt like you were getting another burger even though you were there much later. Superb, but also really delicious cheesecake, by the way.

Absolutely. We were there twice (promise kept: try the WAGYU burger). Attentive, unobtrusive, and very friendly service (we were asked if there was anything we thought could be improved (we had tipped, so that can't have been the reason). On the first visit: vanilla shake and vegan tiramisu, chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, vegan burger (Beyond); on the second visit: vegan burger (Tempe), falafel and Wagyu burger, as well as a milkshake and beer. All excellent quality.

I’ve had better burgers at McDonald’s — and that’s not an exaggeration. The burgers came with little to no sauce, and whatever was there had soaked into the buns, which weren’t even toasted. The pulled pork tasted like it had been sitting around for a month, dry and flavorless. They were served with "coleslaw" which once again was very dry and unflavoured. They somehow even managed to ruin the fries. The first batch was nearly black, and after sending them back, we were served fries that were only slightly less burnt. Not acceptable, especially given how overpriced everything was for the quality we received. That said, the staff were friendly and polite — the only redeeming part of the visit. But great service can’t make up for food this poor. I won’t be coming back and definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

Had one of the top 5 burgers of my life here, and it was just their classic burger with cheese and bacon. Really cozy spot, really attentive and nice staff, and the food was not only incredibly tasty but the kitchen did a great job managing a lot of big orders at one time; my burger came out as hot as it could have been.

It's also a very cute shop with fine details and very attentive, friendly staff - we'll be happy to come back immediately!

If you ever crave a burger when you are at or close to Maastricht, look no further and make your way to Burgerlijk! Their burgers (especially their Wagyu burgers as shown in the pictures) are hard to beat! And did I mention their sweet potato fries? Pair these crispy pieces of heaven with their delectable burgers and you will most certainly be in for a treat! Cost-wise, the prices are more or less par for the course for most restaurants in the Netherlands; getting one of their juicy burgers along with a helping of sweet potato fries and a drink will set you back a little below 25 EUR. While this restaurant is definitely not the cheapest, I still find myself frequenting Burgerlijk for its delicious grub! Overall, I recommend Burgerlijk to anyone who loves a good burger! Aside from the amazing food, the restaurant has some of the kindest waiters and its interior exudes a very cozy ambiance.

Super nice staff and great food

Very tasty burger, pulled pork had a good taste. Crispy fries. Bread with dip beforehand was tasty, chocobomb dessert felt a little less freshly prepared, but was tasty. Drinks were good, especially the fresh lemonade. The room was cozy, but it was cold. They left the front door open, and regularly the door to the back, where the freezer is also located.

Friendly staff, we got our food pretty quickly. It's a very cozy building. Also very nice for vegetarians and vegans because you can replace almost all burgers with a vegetarian and vegan burger.

It took about 1 hour for the food to arrive, not counting the half hour we waited before. The burgers are extremely average and the price is above similar ones. The waiters are very helpful, but that's the only positive point. I won't come again.

Unfortunately things continue to go downhill. We were guests here several times a year. The service has been decreasing in terms of speed for a year, but now for the second time in a row the quality of the burgers is also decreasing. From your favorite store for the last time. We're out at this point. On a good day, you can only get around here on average...

We had to wait a very long time, both for our food and for service. The fries were way too salty, and the burger wasn't that great either. We really didn't have high expectations, but unfortunately, this wasn't up to the mark :(

I don't often write reviews, but this was really nerve-wracking. Nice ambience and nice service. But: waited over 1 hour for the burger. The fries came too late. Then they were burned. Was able to return it but we were so frustrated that we couldn't really enjoy it. Unfortunately, not a good visit to the restaurant.

Burgers good but arrived lukewarm at the table. We waited for our fries for 5-10 minutes. Considering how hot the burgers were, we were almost done with them when the fries arrived. Speaking of those, the aftertaste and mushy textures of the fries weren't amazing, especially for the price. Some fries had a seafood aftertaste… not very pleasant.

For me the portions where very small. I must wait to long for service so skipped The dessert. The staff was more busy with each other then helping me and the other table. The place is great and the green burger was very nice.

Great burgers, but that's it. Not what I expected from a burger restaurant. Portions are also fine. The restaurant looks homely and I like that.

This food was overpriced and quite frankly disgusting. All burgers were ridiculously tall, and the buns were stale. I ordered the tempeh burger which had such a foul taste that I couldn’t finish it despite having been ravenous upon entry. My group ordered the chicken burger, the lamb burger, and the classic burger, so we had a good idea of the menu, and no one had anything nice to say about their food. There are slices of cucumber in every burger for some unknown reason. Highly do not recommend coming here. Plus, this is one of those burger spots that thinks it’s appropriate to not serve fries with a burger which is a truly inhumane thing to do. A burger is eaten with fries. If I pay some 15 euro for one of the worst burgers of my life and you honestly ask me would I like to pay some 4 euro extra for some fries that I would bet money to say actually come from a bag, you are a terrible terrible restauranteur. Avoid this place, spend your money elsewhere.

A bit of a disappointment as we ordered online where the price for the Pulled Pork Burger was always 11,50€, same thing on the wall of the restaurant but when we paid, we were told that the price was 15.. The food was nice but we had a big order with 8 portions of sweet potato fries and received two boxes that we had to divide by 8, which made the quantities extremely small for 4,50€. This is a bit disappointing because the food was obviously still of good quality but maybe a commercial gesture would have been appreciated, also for the waiting time as we were told to arrive within 20min and had to wait another 20min in the restaurant.

The quality of this place has definitely deteriorated; it’s not like it used to be. The bread was cold, the meat tasted like it came from a supermarket, and the fries were of very poor quality. On top of that, I want to point out that the manager of this place is anything but a manager. She was completely unable to handle a situation involving legitimate complaints from our side, becoming irritated and rude... I wouldn’t recommend anyone to eat at this place.

The food is nothing special to die for. The service is awful. We ordered one wangyu burger and two classic burgers. After about 20 minutes, the waitress came to the table to rewrite our order because she had lost the paper she had written it. We told her again what we wanted and she left. After this time, many tables that had ordered between our first order and the repetition of it, were served. Moreover, when our order was ready, we realised that the waitress had noted only one classic burger! She insisted on us never mentioning "two" classic burgers, which is not true, since we have two children that eat only this kind of burger. We gave the two burgers to our children to eat and I and my wife shared a half of a boiled potato with sour cream. The waitress removed the drinks from the bill as an act of compensation, but this was meaningless, since we waited for over one hour to eat, while the prepaid car parking time was running, and we ended up still hungry. We paid 36€ and still had to find another place to eat, me and my wife. Find another place to eat or make sure that the waitress has written your order correctly.

The Lamsburger was perfect with its juicy meat and delicious cheese. I’d definitely recommend this place for hamburgers in Maastricht. However, the tiramisu wasn’t my favorite, it had an intense flavor that felt a bit overwhelming. While it wasn’t bad, I wouldn’t order it again.

A special thanks to the chef there (I think his name was Reza) who answered all my questions about the menu with such care and kindness. Our visit to Burgerlijk in Maastricht was disappointing. It was uncomfortably cold in the restaurant, which several guests noticed. Two types of bitterballen turned out to be unavailable, without indicating this in advance. The dishes were mediocre: the burger was dry and overdone, the buns tasted like supermarket quality, and the cheese bitterballen were tasteless with too little sauce. The "homemade" lemonade was also disappointing and tasted like spa red. Moreover, the service left much to be desired; we sat for a long time with empty glasses and couldn't order a new drink because no one came. All in all definitely not worth the price.

It was freezing in the shop. Heating was not allowed to be on. Waited fifty minutes for an order for 2 people. Fries and sandwiches were served cold. Only the meat was (still) warm. Shame….

I have no idea what's going on with this place. It started well, friendly service. It was around 2:30 PM, so not really busy, so we quickly had a tasty hamburger during the Christmas shopping. But that turned out to be different than planned. We had to wait almost 40 minutes for our starter. 1 portion of croquettes/ which one escapes me. Very frustrating when there are only 8 people in the restaurant. But then we had to wait for the burgers. And wait. And wait. But when I saw the cook busy in the kitchen (semi-open kitchen) I lost all appetite. I still don't know what he was doing, but if you have to prepare food that way you have no right to be in a kitchen. So after more than an hour and 20 min of waiting we canceled the order. The other couple in the business did the same because they were also tired of waiting. They had their grandchild and had been waiting for almost 2 hours (with 8 people in the restaurant) Our experience is really not good. No idea who was in the kitchen, we really liked the menu, but the chef really didn't know what he was doing.

Cozy restaurant but felt like I was in a fridge from the moment I got in to the moment I left. The burger patty itself was very tasty however the burger buns were cold and had very little sauce, fries were over cooked and dry. The waiters were lovely other than the fact it was a long wait to get our food. Overall I would not come again.
