The spare ribs were dry and tough, the portion was small, and the fries were hard. You only get spare ribs; nothing is included. You have to order them separately. My neighbors' meat wasn't prepared properly either. English-speaking service is common these days. Sorry, I was disappointed.

We sat down anyway because we were hungry, and the rest of the menu looked good too. However, all the menus that included spare ribs were no longer available, which was a real shame. A bowl of glowing hot coals and rosemary sprigs arrived with the appetizer. No one knew what it was for (decoration), so we had it removed immediately. The food was otherwise good, but the service from the young ladies was awful. They chatted a lot behind the bar, but during service, there was no smile, and no one said a word when drinks or food were being served. They won't see us here anymore.

Very mid overall, steak was good not amazing, service was nice not great, and the atmosphere was very loud. If you wanna have a few beers and steak with some friends this is the place. For a date, not.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Steakhouse Carnal in Maastricht, and I must say: this is, without a doubt, the best piece of meat I've ever eaten. Under the guidance of manager Radu, we received very professional and friendly service, which only enhanced the overall experience.

I had a delicious meal and appreciated the glimpse into the kitchen, which completes the experience. The only downside was that the extractor fan wasn't working. It does create a lot of smoke... which is disappointing.

Even though they specialized in meat, my meat’s taste and smell was just not right and I couldn’t eat. However the waiter acknoweldge and didn’t make me pay.

We walked in here last Sunday around 5 p.m. After asking if we could sit down for dinner, we were told we couldn't come back until 5 p.m. The staff was on a break, even though people were eating. A strange experience.

Started off with calamari, which was good. Then ordered 2 medium-rare stakes. One of them was more blue than rare. Other than that - food was good. Extremely poor service, I would say - no service at all. Food order was taken and then our table was left alone. Sitting with empty glasses for 20 mins and then going to the counter to pay, not what you expect at this place. I could clearly see place being understaffed on Saturday lunch time. Instead of spending a nice anniversary, left disappointed. Spent at max an hour, as it was a bad experience, the day was slightly ruined. Not coming back

Carnal again today! And I have to say, it was friendly and, of course, delicious again😉😄 Carnal was really good. I've been there several times, and this time I had the BBQ plate. It was really well filled, a decent portion, and everything tasted delicious! Definitely recommended! Only the side dishes are around €4 for a small salad and fries. But the service was friendly, the food was good 👍, definitely recommended!

I can recommend the burger. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and gave our table plenty of attention (which, as other reviews have mentioned, wasn't the case before).

Chicken Burger is probably better from the friterie next door. Filet very thick and taste overall poor. Salad with rotten tomatoes.

Ordered a premium platter, chicken was dry, ribs were okay, lots of fat, T-bone steak was okay. Chaotic service, and the interior needs replacing.

We ordered a tenderloin skewer and a tenderloin. Both arrived cold. The skewers were served with a few pieces of charcoal, which helped somewhat. We sent the steak back, and it arrived back after 5 minutes. For a steakhouse, this is not good enough.

Today I went for dinner with my girlfriend and my oldest daughter. We came for delicious spare ribs and opted for the 1kg ribs to share. I can describe the food in one word: DELICIOUS! Delicious flavor, perfectly cooked! The meat fell off the bone! Definitely a good portion for a good eater! I can say they have the best ribs in town! The service was very friendly and the food arrived incredibly quickly! P.S.: The caipirinha cocktail was also highly recommended!! Hats off to the service and kitchen! You've found some new fans! We'll definitely be back soon!

Overpriced and disappointing. Our Tomahawk and T-Bone were both overcooked despite ordering medium. No sauce served at first, no one asked – when it finally came, it was cold, store-bought BBQ. Potato sauce also cheap and ready-made. Tomahawk re-cooked but still nowhere near worth the price. Poor value, would not recommend. ---

Do yourself a favour and try this when in need of a delicious protein boost. I usually don’t write reviews but I enjoyed every minute in this restaurant! We were a party of 4 and got 3x the antricote and 1x the spare ribs. Everything was cooked great, arrived decently quickly and the waiter was more than nice, trying to accommodate our requests even with a rush evening hour going on and a full restaurant. Will be coming again with great pleasure!

Carnal in Maastricht wants to be your go-to steakhouse — and sometimes, it really is. On a good day, the steak is absolutely delicious: juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. You’ll feel like you made the right choice. On a not-so-good day? Let’s just say your steak might be having an identity crisis. The vibe is modern and moody — very “first date that might lead to a second if the ribeye comes through.” The service is friendly, the cocktails are solid, and the starters are surprisingly tasty (special shout-out to the grilled veggies — the unsung heroes of the menu). Now, let’s talk price. Carnal is definitely feeling itself a bit. The bill arrives like a plot twist — not outrageous, but enough to make you pause and think, “Hmm, was that steak really €35 good or just €28 okay?” It depends on the night. Still, when they hit the mark, they hit it well. It’s the kind of place you go when you’re feeling a little fancy, a little feisty, and willing to take a chance on some flame-grilled greatness. Would I go back? Yes — with a hopeful heart and a backup dinner plan just in case.

We asked if they had pulled beef, and he offered to make an exception for us, a pulled beef burger. When the burgers arrived, they were completely tasteless and far too sweet due to the barbecue sauce. The meat was also too dry; it felt like a barbecue sauce burger. Absolutely not recommended, and I would never eat here again. (A bad experience, unfortunately.)

Great food great atmosphere a must visit

The terms were good, and they were friendly and knew what they were doing. The menu stated that the tenderloin would be free of tendon and fat (which is a claim), but that turned out to be completely untrue. It's a shame, because such a claim naturally raises expectations. The meat was also too raw; I had ordered medium rare, and it was still cold. After sending it back, the meat did come back with the correct rare. Unfortunately, they only took the meat, so the side dishes and sauce had gotten cold while they were cooking the meat.

Food-wise, a great choice. Delicious, flavorful, and well-prepared dishes. Unfortunately, there's still a lot wrong with the service; ordering a drink feels secondary to me (while that's precisely where you should be making your profit, Carnal!), no attention to customers after the food is served, and forgotten orders. In short, there's still a lot of room for improvement to earn an even higher rating. Given previous reviews with similar criticisms about the service, it seems they haven't learned anything from this.

The service staff was friendly and quick. The ribs lacked flavour and were dry. The coleslaw was disappointing.

Ouch, ouch... There were mice running around the place. When we politely pointed this out at the cash register while paying, quietly, without making a show of it in front of the whole restaurant, the waitress simply said: "Every restaurant has that." Furthermore, the €132 piece of meat was good, but too expensive for that price. €100/€110 is average for the same piece in a similar location. We didn't get any bread or olive oil. It was forgotten. Service: very, very poor. We never had to call a waiter or waitress over without having to call them over, even though they walked past several times without making eye contact. I was a regular. 2 or 4 times a year, for about 8 years (?). The last time it was less so, but now, everything has gone downhill. It's a real shame because I've lost a great place. It no longer has the vibe it used to have.

Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. We had tagliata, chicken basket, and nachos as a starter. The nachos were tasty, but the tagliata was too tough, and the chicken was fried far too long. For our main course, we had the tenderloin medium-rare and the BBQ platter with pulled beef, half a chicken, sausage, and ribs. We ended up with the tenderloin cooked all the way through, but after we pointed this out to the staff, we were given a new piece of tenderloin, which was delicious. But the BBQ platter was truly disappointing; the chicken was so dry that it had absolutely no flavor. And the ribs were dry and not fresh—not tasty at all. We reported this to the staff, but nothing was done about it. There were also too few staff for the number of customers we had. All in all, the food was not good, it was way too expensive for what it was, and the service was poor. They will never see us again.

Delicious food, highly recommended

A charming restaurant. And that's where the positive feeling from our visit ends. We ordered drinks and they didn't arrive. A 300-gram tenderloin for €42 turned out not to be tenderloin at all, but tough steak. After complaining, the kitchen sent the waitress a piece of raw meat that was supposed to be tenderloin. Tenderloin doesn't look like that; you could see veins of fat and tendons in the raw piece... It was also cut incorrectly. The fact that the chef didn't come out himself clearly shows they don't stand behind their product. The mushrooms we ordered (because they weren't included) were far from freshly fried. The waitress can't be blamed for this. It's not her job to know that. She was friendly, but after our complaint, she didn't offer any compensation. Time to pay and never return.

Disappointing across the board It’s hard to be kind as the experience was poor on most levels on the positive great location in centre Maastricht in nice area Ribeye was not seasoned at all which was kinda shocking for a steakhouse Peppercorn sauce was basically just gravy no real hint of pepper or any peppercorn I asked the waiter was it a mistake perhaps wrong order unfortunately not There were five of us and all of us felt it was very poor certainly not a steakhouse If your a meat lover give it a miss

The best stake place is Maastricht. Friendly staff, great food and nice service. Highly recommended if you have a crave for nice meat cuts and burgers.

We ate there today with 10 people. Service was good and very attentive. Everyone enjoyed the food. Overall, the 10 of us were very satisfied and can recommend it.

Waiters without patience. Dont explain. In rush. The meet arrived without forks and knife. Ketchop arrived even later. The ribs was too dry.we ordered 3 portions. All dry. Toilets could be cleaner. Yesterday we had dinner at Steakhouse Carnal in Maastricht. We both chose the T-bone dry aged and this was without a doubt the tastiest T-bone we have ever eaten: perfectly prepared and full of flavour. The staff was friendly and despite the crowds we were helped quickly. For two T-bones, three sauces, a baked potato, fries, corn, a bottle of wine, a cocktail, two half-litres of beer, two shots and a bottle of water we paid €225. Not a small amount, but considering the quality of the meat it was absolutely worth it. We will definitely come back here!

Steakhouse Carnal is an absolute must for anyone who loves good meat and a refined, yet accessible atmosphere. The ribeye was a culinary highlight, and the mushrooms and homemade herb mayonnaise brought it all to an even higher level. We will definitely be back - this was a treat from start to finish! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It was my first time there, but also my last. Leaving service and everything else aside, I just want to write about the food. It was the worst steak I've ever eaten, and it took over 45 minutes to arrive even though the place was empty. And because it was rare rather than medium well, I had to wait another 20 minutes until the meat arrived black. I think the photo says it all!

Nice ambiance and great service but lunch was very disappointing. Loaded fries with chicken is very boring and the chicken bone dry. Sandwich chicken with the same dry chicken and further the sandwich is uninspired. Too high price for lunch dishes without love.

We tried the whole menu- steaks are chewy as if you bought them at discounted price from Lidl, ribs overcooked and definitely not tasty, calamaris - a disaster , bone marrow was good, carpaccio was good, prawns- meh… I’m a big fan of tiramisu - definitely far from good. Service - Tables are full of empty plates but no one takes care of it. Coffee machine is off, so they say no to 15 people willing to drink coffee. Atmosphere - we were in a cage with a fan hung on the wall and cables going down to the floor. If you spill your beer you get electrocuted. Overall- would not come back mostly because the food was below average

Our group of 20+ people was situated in totally different area as discussed upon reservation. They wanted everything ordered the day before which is quite difficult for such a big group and didn’t give us any other options. At the end of the night they said the coffee machine is off so we cannot have any coffees…

Wasn't worth it. Service was very friendly. Ordered the tenderloin twice. The menu gives the impression that fries are included. However, this is not the case, which made the bill higher than expected. The tenderloin was very tough and had little taste.

We ate outside on a Sunday in May with the most beautiful weather. Tender meat (ribeye and tenderloin skewer) perfectly cooked to our liking. The pepper sauce was not thickened enough. The wine easily contrasted with the meat. We have no trouble recommending this address. There is one downside, but this apparently applies to many restaurants in the Netherlands: Dutch-incompetent staff are unacceptable.

While we were still looking at the menu, they asked twice if we wanted to order. In such a hurry? It really wasn't a pleasant experience. While ordering she said that we could ask her anything if something was unclear, but when we asked some questions she didn't even listen properly and just gave some answers. When we wanted to change a dish while ordering, she also reacted very impatiently. 🙄 Have I done something wrong to you? If you find your work that annoying, then you really don't have to do it.

I waited over 1 hour for my food and a new drink order was not taken... The food was a disaster! The meat was like the sole of a shoe and the quality was poor. All I can say is NEVER again

Really not incredible. We took two hamburgers and the second with extra meat. If I had known. The beef is really too thick and not at all pleasant to eat. You have to look for the cheese. It's a shame for a brand that calls itself Steak house..etc.

Very mediocre, but not the prices!

Yesterday we went to eat at Carnal for the first time. We had a nice meal, but the whole experience was a little less for us. It is annoying that the service does not speak Dutch, but we will get over that, just make sure that your service is a little friendlier. We sat at a small table at the back of the shop, where it was quite dark.

Very nice place to dine in and enjoy good food and nice beers. We went with my brothers to spend a bit of family time and we choose Carnal for the great meat and atmosphere. He had the big platter and shared in 3 and was more then enough and of course all matched with nice beers. Compliments to the Italian chefs for the dish and the Greek waitress for the service, see you next time guys. I definitely recommend this place to all

Excellent place for carnivores. Vegetarians should refrain. The truffle burger was sublime! With fries (for a business dinner...it's fine). I highly recommend it.

Nice ambiance, but a bit worn. Our steaks were delicious and tender. However, one was a bit too raw to be called medium. The dessert (creme brulee and brownie) was delicious. Service was okay.

Long hair in spareribs 🤮🤮 Ordered more often from CRIB, a part of carnal. Normally quite satisfied but recently received spareribs with a long hair in the marinade. Then your appetite is gone. Apart from the fact that the ribs then contained a lot of fat and almost no meat. Too bad that feedback is not responded to. Hence this review.

We had dinner here, we ordered spare ribs. Unfortunately, these were very disappointing, the meat was tough. Little taste. Decided to say something about this, the owner resolved it very well by removing all spare ribs from our bill. Too bad the food was not as expected, but the owner acted well. In my opinion, the quality has deteriorated sharply due to the enormous crowds.

Whenever we are craving good steaks, cocktails, and friendly service we head straight to Carnal! Their hot & spicy ribs aren’t too spicy for this American family but have great flavor. We love the BBQ butter to dip our steaks in. If the chef’s side is spicy green beans, do yourself a favor & order it. The bartender makes a killer mojito and the drunken brownie is the perfect end to a delicious meal!

Had the dry-aged T-bone 600 grams together with my son. With corn on the cob! Highly recommended, it was delicious!
