Good variety of beer, really busy and crowded after 11 pm

The first bar we found in Amsterdam and by far the best we found. Amazing beer selection. Great vibes. Awesomely friendly staff. This feels just like my favourite bar at home. I will be back if I am ever in Amsterdam.

A Shocking Experience of Racism in Amsterdam – June 19, 2025 I never expected to encounter blatant racism in a city as multicultural and progressive as Amsterdam—but sadly, that’s exactly what happened. Date: 19/06/2025 My friends and I were denied entry based solely on our skin color. While others were freely entering and being served, we were vocally and deliberately excluded. One staff member even said, “I’ll make sure you don’t get served,” before physically pushing us around in a clear attempt to intimidate and humiliate. It was only after we raised the issue with another staff member—who treated us with basic human decency and served us—that the original individual came over to issue an apology. However, it was clear that he only did so because we had taken pictures and were prepared to document what had happened. As a brown person, these situations are unfortunately not unfamiliar. But this time, I’m choosing not to stay silent. This review is for others who might go through similar experiences—to let you know you are not alone. And it’s for those who perpetuate or excuse this kind of behavior: Do better. I’ve chosen not to publish the photo of the individual involved, though we know exactly who he is—and so do his colleagues. Hopefully, this will be a moment of reflection and change.

El barrio en general, es un infierno turístico. Para lo que yo llamaría un viajero experimentado, el lugar es fantástico. Tuvimos excelentes conversaciones, servicio y bebidas. Absolutamente un no se pierda si usted es el tipo de viajero que quiere disfrutar de la cultura de bar local y hablar con la gente.

Small but nice pub. Dozens of specialty beers on location and always a good cross-section of local people. This is the standard place to hang out.

I was here yesterday. And it was amazing how florence the bartender handled the Service super nice. I got some free Tab water so i could try some really nice beers without a hangover in the morning ä. Also i came alone but made some dutchie friends 11/10 experience

Great little bar, sorry I'm English I can't get my head around calling it a café, tucked away just off the Leidesplein. Great selection of beers and other drinks. The bartender was even mixing up cocktails. I had a lovely Neipa from Two Chefs Brewing which is a local one, as good as anything I've had in Yorkshire (well maybe)

Cozy vibes and unmissable beers. Make this your regular. Lots of new taps and too many bottled beers to count, it's small but it fits a whole lot of cheer. One of the best cafes in the nearby area, just outside the bland tourism chaos of the neighbourhood.

Nice bar down this backstreet. Small and quite cosy, with a very large selection of beers - some on tap but the majority are in cans/bottles. Quite expensive, as is most of Amsterdam, but worth it for a quick stop.

Took a chance on this bar while trying to get out of the area to go somewhere else and wow! What a cosy bar. We could have stayed here all night and we came here a few times during our short Amsterdam visit. Loads of selection, extremely friendly staff and perfect vibes.

We had a great night here. It's on a pretty horrible street so our expectations were low and the Dutch guy in our party was frankly depressed by the vibes of the area. So finding this cosy beer bar with a great beer list, friendly service and a nice easy vibe was kind of a miracle. I am pregnant so I wasn't sampling the magic but we'll be back when I can drink for sure. Many beers I've never had and a few old favourites. Thanks for the good times!

Vinimos aquí dos veces durante nuestros pocos días en Amsterdam. El camarero, Reda, era muy divertido. Hablamos y nos reímos - él era todo sonrisas y amigable con todos. Encontré mi cerveza favorita (Palm) y bebimos todo lo que tenían en stock! Cuando volvamos a visitar a nuestros amigos de nuevo me aseguraré de pasar por otra noche relajante y saludar.

I almost don’t want to review this place because I love it so much I don’t want it to get too popular. With that said, I do love this place because it has an amazing beer selection. More importantly, the staff (and the customers) are very friendly. You can just show up alone and find yourself in the middle of good conversation.

Door een hevige regenbui moesten wij ergens schuilen en zodoende kwamen we doorweekt in het kleine Cafe de Spuyt (dus niet de spruit) terecht. Aan snelle, schichtige blik naar de muur en de daarop bevestigde bierkaart informeerde ons over het verrassend grote bieraanbod. Bierprijzen waren redelijk hoog (maar voor Amsterdam normaal), de toiletten authentiek aftands en het publiek redelijk gemêleerd. Kortom, een prima café in een verder veel te toeristische omgeving.

We meet up every year at the cafe next to De Spruyt, but since that one is closed due to renovations we ended up here. We had a great night. There is a good vibe and bartenders are awesome. We had nothing to eat, so can't comment on that. Drinks were cold, multiple choices in beer and rum. But most of all just the vibe. Hope to go back soon

I dropped in here by accident to wait out the rain. It turned out to be a cozy bar with a large selection of beers. There are well-known brands like Leffe, Kriek, Chimay, Duvel, and many unknown ones. At least for me. Most of the assortment, of course, is Belgian beer. All this is written in chalk on a large blackboard. You feel the excitement of choosing like a student on an exam when choosing a ticket. I took a draft "beer from the chef" -Two chefs brewing. An interesting experience...

Simpel uitgeruste degelijke kroeg met zeer uitgebreide bierkaart EN bijbehorende glazen. Ik was er op een rustige avond maar heb me prima vermaakt... Een aanrader voor degene die een biertje wil pakken maar niet naar de standaard plekken wil gaan...

Rode a bike here specifically because I got a tip they offer Westvleteren 12. Well, they did, but were charging over 30 Euros for it, which seemed like it is exploiting tourists. Went to Sterk instead and bought all I could want for much more reasonable prices (as the monastary prefers it). Cute bar otherwise, but didn't seem popular.

Hang out for many. Bar for everyone. Usually end up here after a concert at Paradiso or Melkweg. Great draft menu. Overall large beer menu. Snacks are great too. You’ll find many locals in this street that’s mainly filled with tourists. If you want more than a beer go for the white dead (white beer with an old jenever on the side).

Joined a good friends birthday after party at this local, and absolutely loved it! Huge collection of beers & spirits, well priced and the location is centrally located down a very happening side street. Open till 4am and well worth a visit for the all night crowd!

Increíble selección de cervezas en un encantador y antiguo bar muy pintoresco. Se pone muy ocupado más tarde en la noche. Mi esposo y yo disfrutamos del ambiente más tranquilo temprano en la noche. Muy recomendable si te gusta y te encanta la cerveza artesanal.
