Cafe DS in Van Galenbuurt

Alfresco area perfect in warmer weather. Gives you a somewhat secluded atmosphere that is a perfect contrast to the normal Amsterdam dining experience. My personal favourite vibe, recommend.

Extremely discriminatory location. You have to fit their mold to get in. If you're with too many men, too old, too young, too "boring," Moroccan, or anything else they don't like, you won't get in. I doubt that's even legal. I've filed a complaint and will never recommend anyone to go there again.

A TV program is workin on getting these guys where they belong (especially the bouncers) for their racist en discrimination behavior at the door is against the law and should not be tolorated! Hope they make them getting in big trouble

The experience started off well, with the atmospehere looking nice and the service being friendly. However, we sat in a nice spot around the middle, and were not told what to expect. Just as we ordered our coffee after lunch, a really large group of people arrived, seemingly after some protest, who completely surrounded us, kept putting their things on our table, were screaming and shouting alll around us, and at some point to get each others` attention even started banging on our table, even though we were very clearly not part of this event. Moreover, the staff even opened the doors so they could get in more easily, which made us really cold, as it was less than 10 degrees outside. This completely ruined our experience, which could`ve been easlity avoided by the stuff warning us beforehand, and possibly suggesting a more quite spot to us. Additioanlly, when we went to pay, there was even an extra chanrge on the bill (which they did take off when we pointed it out), but noone even asked us how our experience was, nor did we get any sort of an apology for how our time there was ruined. At the start i would`re really said this to be a good experience, but after how our time there ended, i would not ever go back.

Ik was hier met collega's en de sfeer is er echt fijn en de drankjes waren echt goed alleen het duurde echt mega lang voordat we onze dingen kregen. Verder top tent en echt leuk dat er bij ook een restaurant en een club zit. Top

Weekhap was echt heel karig. Gegrilde courgette met zwarte rijst, en ook niet snaakvol. Niet een hele of zelfs een halve courgette maar een dun plakje met daarin een heel klein beetje rijst, op een bergje sla. Top dat je een week hap voor €11,50 wil aanbieden, maar dit was nauwelijks een voorgerecht te noemen. Jammer want de sfeer en bediening was top.

Kom hier graag voor een drankje af en toe. Zowel de sfeer binnen als op het terras is erg aangenaam. Soms staat de muziek binnen wat hard.

Matige ervaring in het restaurant, vooral door een beperkt aanbod. Geen tapbier en slechts 3 soorten op de fles (waarvan 2 IPA??). 4 gangen diner: als je geen vis eet krijg je 4 keer een vega hapje. Geen aanrader. Een vraag hierover aan personeel leverde beetje wijsneuzerige reactie op.

Enorm jammer om te horen dat deze fantastische plek per januari 2024 gaat sluiten! Zulke bijzondere mensen gezien in een relaxte sfeer; ik kom hier zeker vaker. Oja, de taart vonden we veel te zoet!

Één van onze favoriete plaatsen! Casual chique met soort Berlijnse vibe. Er wordt met allerlei dieeten rekening gehouden en het menu zou niet misstaan in een Michelin ster restaurant met een bourgondisch tintje. Wijnen goed gepaird. Weer een top avond gehad!

Just came back from the party on 12th May. The club is nice, we always like to party there. Only issue is that you can really never know if you’ll get in or not. I guess that the random selection criteria, and cringey displays of cheap power at the door from a cheap and cringey “selector” create quite some hype. My advice is: decide soon enough if you want to have fun in another club, or queue for hours to TRY to get in this one. Lofi, Garage Noord, Radion, Shelter… plenty of alternatives!

Fascinated by the atmosphere. Infused with love and happy vibes. The food was an extraordinary experience. De school is a must!

Lovely place! They have wifi to study and a table with sockets. The food is very good as well as the coffee. I am not a granola person but their Sunshine Jar is just amazing

I love the club soooooo much, the safety for queer people inside is amazing, but the queue for presale tickets/jackets is just not human. You would think that with a presale ticket you would have priority, meanwhile the queue for people without a ticket is going way quicker! I really wanna come back to this club but waiting hours in the queue WITH a presale ticket does not seem to fair! I hope they will organize this better in the future, as the club & events are super inclusive and nice :)

7-gangen menu was voor het grootste deel niet lekker, geen uitgebalanceerde smaken en het duurde veel te lang tussen de gangen in. De zeebaars ceviche was de grootste teleurstelling van de avond. Voor het geld dat ik heb uitgegeven ben ik erg teleurgesteld in deze avond.

Queue for presale tickets was around 10min at 1am while the on the door queue was too long to see the end. Venue was amazing. Huge open spaces, amazing underground main stage with good sound system. Bar area was great. Defo recommend for techno seeking people

We had the best time here, the food was delicious and we drank a lot of wine. The staff was also really nice. The next day we got destroyed in the club… fun fun.

Great club. I had a great time and a long time dancing. It is a magical place full of magical people. Waiting time is long but that is what you sign up for if you want a good raving experience. Some people complained about not being able to enter in groups. That should be common knowledge especially with these kind of places. I have been rejected from DeSchool too but at the end of the day there is no hard feelings since it just was not the right night. Sometimes the staff is a bit passive aggressive but it is what it is. As long as you stay calm and confident you will get in

Toffe tent, jas wordt netjes aangenomen, personeel kent goed wat op de kaart staat. Service is nice. Het 5 gangen menu was lekker, maar wel uit verhouding. Er zitten super goede combinaties tussen maar verwacht geen fatsoenlijke hoeveelheid vlees op je bord ;)

Mooie rustige tuin. Heerlijk om te zitten. Lekker gelunched. Fijn dat alles wat je eet ook heel goed smaakt, bv de tomaatjes waren heerlijk en zoet, zoals het eigenlijk hoort maar nooit meer krijgt. Geweldig dat er ook glutenvrij brood was. Een aanrader voor iedereen die voor echte smaak gaat. Leuke bediening.

The coffee was delicious, the place is quiet and relaxed, we order some waffles with avocado but it could have been better.

Prima gegeten, jammer van de 50€ die in rekening werd gebracht ivm no show van 2 personen. 12 man ipv 14. Wij hebben daar een kattig gevoel aan overgehouden. Viel niet over te praten.

Gekozen voor een 5-gangen diner. Elke gang was een ware belevenis, met veel diverse producten: heerlijk!! Locatie is eenvoudig. Het personeel is zeer goed, vriendelijk en zorgen voor een uitstekende uitleg bij het eten. Een aanrader!!

Wir waren im Leonardo am Rembrandtpark untergebracht, hatten abends noch Hunger, wollten aber nicht mehr weit fahren und der De-School-Komplex liegt direkt gegenüber. Eigentlich war uns "De School" eher als Club bekannt, daher waren wir ziemlich überrascht, zu sehen, dass zu dem Club auch noch ein Café und ein High-Cuisine-Restaurant gehören. Um das Café soll es heute gehen, nachdem es kaum möglich ist, für das Restaurant am selben Tag eine Reservierung zu bekommen. Im Café kann man bis 21:30 Dinner essen, es gibt ein vegetarisches Wochengericht (als wir da waren: Cannelloni mit Pinienkernen und Käse-Spinatfüllung) und diverse Snacks. Tagsüber kann man auch Frühstücken und Lunchen. Wer viel Auswahl braucht, für den ist es wohl eher nichts, aber für uns hat es so gepasst. Die Qualität vom Essen war gut, der Service war schnell und freundlich und hervorzuheben ist die coole Inneneinrichtung und die tolle Atmosphäre in einer alten Schule. Wer auf Betonarchitektur mit klaren Linien und viel Schwarz-Weiß steht, wird hier wohl glücklich. Es gibt eine kleine, aber feine Weinkarte (der Rosé weiß zu überzeugen) und ein paar Cocktails. Das Essen ist für Amsterdamer Verhältnisse wirklich anständig vom Preis her. Das Publikum ist jung und hat an einem Samstagabend so gewirkt, als würde es direkt nach dem Café in den Club weiterziehen, darauf haben wir aber verzichtet. Wir kommen gerne wieder - nächstes Mal vielleicht auch das Restaurant. Wirklich eine tolle Adresse in einem Stadtteil, der nicht gerade allzu viele Gastroanlaufpunkte hat.

Gisteravond hier gegeten. De sfeer is heel goed, de bediening ook. We namen het 5-gangen menu en dat was qua smaak en originaliteit prima... maar de hoeveelheid!! Wij zijn 2 vrouwen, zeker geen grote eters- het tegenovergestelde zelfs- maar de porties waren echt heel klein. Het ‘hoofdgerecht ‘ was een miniem stukje vlees, de gangen daarvoor waren prachtig aangekleed, maar ook ‘eenhaps’dingen. Iets doorgeschoten in de ‘haute cuisine’ dus. En gemiddelde man met normale eetlust moet hierna zeker nog langs de snackbar.
