Café "Het Bruine Paard" in Jordaan

Stopped for a few scoops whilst walking around the local area. Attentive service, great, cosy atmosphere and good selection of drinks. Would visit again

yuppie place, was there with Danny at the doorbell, I ordered a croquette, got a warm brown people croquette fresh from the poop onto my plate.

Lovely little bar, with snacks etc. Seats and heating outside, Toilets are clean and modern. Beer was good. Great place to watch the world go by.

The two men at the bar made this pub even more inviting! A lovely interior, great stories, and a quiet place to sit. A real Amsterdam atmosphere.

Sat on the patio today. Two very nice, humorous women working. We had delicious toasted sandwiches. Good coffee. And fast service.

Cozy pub, I like to come there and certainly enjoy the old-fashioned Amsterdam humor. If you can't handle that, you should order your drink in English at Rembrandt or Leidse Square.

The atmosphere is very beautiful and romantic. We sat by the canal and enjoyed our coffees. The staff is both pleasant and does their job well. Everything we ordered came exactly as we wanted. I recommend it.

Fine, not high quality, but not bad either. Nice spot on the canal to people watch and have a drink. Service just fine, not bad but not very enthusiastic either. Little choice in terms of snacks. But grilled sausage with cheese was tasty.

Nice spot with outdoor seating right by a canal. It is in a tourist area, but the prices weren't bad. Service was also very good, the staff were friendly and quite funny as well. Ended up visiting here a couple of times in the end.

Everything was perfect in Amsterdam until we got to that bar. An unpleasant waitress and even worse coffee.

Typical café in a great location with few tables outside by the canal. Due to the premium location, the service is usually bad, because no matter what they do, they would always have customers. On the flip side, it's easier to grab a table beside the canal than in other popular places around the area.

Great for a drink and a rest before your city walk, also lots of fun watching all the tourists passing by and a very nice plus: clean and nice toilet

Im sure theres a lot of unwarranted “rude server” reviews out in the world, but unfortunately the ones for this place are true. At least for the waitress that we had. Doesnt feel good to write that, but I don’t want others to have the same experience.

One of Jordaan's most iconic 'brown ' cafés, Het Bruine Paard, or the Brown Horse, is located on Prinsengracht, close to Noorder Kerk. A magnificent plaque of a brown horse protrudes over the establishment's entrance and commemorates the occasion, over 125 years ago, when a horse and cart, from a fire station on the opposite side of the road, slipped on the bridge, crashing head on into the building. The café has a geat view of the canal and its constant stream of boats. Weather permitting, there's a small outside terrace for even better viewing. This is a great place to come for coffee and apple pie, or try the 'local' favourite known as "kopstoot" or "headbanger", icy cold pilsner, accompanied by jenever, a Dutch syle gin.

Heel onvriendelijke persoon die ons kwam bedienen. Wij waren hier samen met vrienden uit Brazilië, maar voelden ons helemaal niet welkom op het terras. Koude bediening, korte antwoorden, onvriendelijke blikken en op de kop toe hoorden wij hem de opmerking roepen "Er zijn hier veel te veel toeristen", luid genoeg zodat we het konden horen. Ongelooflijk dat iemand deze houding kan hebben en midden in stad Amsterdam in een horeca-zaak kan werken. Ons zal je hier nooit meer terugzien.

Tolle Lage für eine Pause. Die Kellnerin ist wirklich sehr nett. Trink ein oder zwei Bier dort, es wird dir gefallen...

Lekker worst en kaasplankje maar erg duur

Great little bar off the beaten track, useful to recharge the batteries with nice hot chocolate and coffee all very reasonably priced. Toilets are good and clean. Very friendly and polite staff. Suggestions for even better experience: have some typical Duch snacks like bitterballen, ossenworst, kletskoppen, etc which tourists can try with their drink.

Mooi gezellig bruin café met opmerkzame vriendelijke bediening en prachtig uitzicht voor en achter. Verwarmd terras aan de Prinsengracht Een geweldig lekkere, goed heet geserveerde Glühwein gedronken 👌🏾 Die ook nog zeer betaalbaar is. En ook dankbaar gebruik gemaakt van de supermoderne, mooie en schone toiletten.

Heerlijk gedronken en lekkere hapje

Zoek je een gezellige sfeer, dan ben je hier wel op het juiste adres. We waren op een zaterdag daar met kinderen, we werden goed geholpen. Super vriendelijk medewerker. We hebben niet gegeten, alleen gedronken. En het drinken is gewoon goed.

Few options if you are a beer person, but the atmosphere is really nice still a good place to grab a pint.

Small choice of beers, few snacks, no bitterballen… nothing terrible, would be perfectly fine as they do have a nice terrace but the service was barely polite. It makes you feel like a tourist - probably their target population anyway.

Gezellig terras, een echt Amsterdams bruin café. Het personeel is vriendelijk en er hing een gezellige sfeer. Wij vonden het alleen jammer dat ze geen warme borrelhappen hadden. Maar zou alsnog een keer terug komen.

Po dnešním maratonu jsme si zasloužil drink, ovšem sehnat pěkné místo k sezení je umění. Dali jsme si proseco a Amsterdamskou hovězí uzenou klobásu, super.

Naast dat Rik (of Rick) sowieso een gezellige barman is, zou je hier een tussenstop kunnen maken maar ook gemakkelijk een hele avond kunnen spenderen... Zijn ouders hebben hem de kneepjes van het vak sowieso goed meegegeven ;-)

El personal es extremadamente grosero! ! En primer lugar, nos llevó una eternidad obtener el café que pedimos. Segundo, cuando lo bebimos, nos echaron "porque querían ganar más dinero", son palabras, no mías. . Hazte un favor y ve a otro lugar. Amsterdam está llena de excelentes bares, con gran hospitalidad. .

Lo pasé muy bien y me reí mucho con el cantinero Rick. Encantador, pequeño, típico bar holandés. Noche memorable!
