They Hate Tourists and Immigrants: Awful, awful, awful Never Go!! The waitress (I don’t know her name) was extremely rude. In the middle of the bar, I was arguing with the waitress because of her racist behaviour. She told me that I am not allowed to enter inside. When I said why? She said get out!! If I had the time, I would call the police and take the case into the court. This is the worst place ever I have seen in Europe. Don’t go. They are not friendly and not happy when they see tourist

The bald waiter (the one everyone seems to have the same issue with) tried to force my friend to drink alcohol - there were four of us and the other three had bought drinks (myself included). He stood over my friend and told her she either had to buy alcohol or leave and insisted this is a rule in Amsterdam. Really intimidating experience and made everyone deeply uncomfortable. They have since responded with an immature and irrelevant comment. Do better for yourself!

We were kicked out while we were still deciding what to order. The waiter came over and asked what we’d like, and we said we were still choosing. We were reading the menu and checking photos of the dishes on our phones since we’re not familiar with the food, it was our first time in the Netherlands. The waiter then said, ‘Well, you’re not reading the menu, you’re on your phones.’ Rude. But honestly, maybe it was a good thing we didn’t stay. After reading some of the other reviews of the place, you get a pretty clear idea of what it’s like.

If you really care about the scores and reviews, just fire that guy then everything will works fine. Solve the problem at its root, this guy doesn't really have much connection with modern civilization. But if you don't, there would be another shop name lined up for you: "Café Foreigners GTFO, Baldhead FK The World"

We were sitting on the terrace with an aperol and we were cold and then Robbert came to us with a few blankets, such personal service! I love it!

El camarero / camarero se acercó a nosotros tres veces en probablemente tres minutos, progresivamente cada vez más grosero, ya que dijimos que nuestro amigo estaba adentro pidiendo. Luego volvió a entrar para comprobar si nuestro amigo estaba pidiendo - también vale la pena señalar que todo el lado en el que estábamos sentados estaba completamente vacío, no estábamos tomando una mesa valiosa. Volvió a la mesa, procediendo a decir que no podía encontrar a nuestro amigo e incluso si está pagando por una bebida, no estamos pagando a los clientes, así que me ofrecí a irme, pero dijo que estaba bien. Luego entró al baño y verificó si estaba en el baño. Mi amigo volvió y se sentó y el camarero volvió la tercera vez para decir que no podíamos sentarnos allí, a pesar de decirnos lo contrario dos veces antes. Específicamente la forma en que hablaba era tan innecesariamente degradante.

All reviews about rudeness, people being pushed away by staff, too direct and the like. I can certainly deny it. There are always two sides to the story and they are not presented here. As long as you can just say thank you, please, and goodbye (as you should) then you've come a long way. In short, a wonderful tent, with a great atmosphere! Café Heuvel is one of the best cafés in Amsterdam

Great neighborhood pub, we have been coming here a few times a week for 20 years, hospitality reigns supreme, nice and friendly staff.

I spent 1 hour and 15 minutes in this café today. I noticed that the level of friendliness from the two people behind the counter varies depending on the customer: Dutch customer: very friendly White foreign customers: moderately friendly Non-white foreign customers: very unfriendly When I simply asked for a price, the bartender accused me of causing trouble... Strange attitude.

Tuve una experiencia decepcionante en este café. Pedimos dos expresos, y el personal era antipático y poco atractivo — sin saludos, sin conversaciones y apenas reconocimiento. Cuando llegó el momento de pagar, ni siquiera miraron hacia arriba, simplemente colocaron el recibo en el mostrador en silencio. El café en sí era muy caro por la calidad. En general, un lugar que no recomendaría si valoras el buen servicio y un ambiente acogedor.

We came in to have a tea and the bald man serving at the bar scoffed and was unhappy. I think he was unhappy we only ordered one thing but there was literally no one there so it’s not like we were taking room away. It was an uncomfortable experience. Why would you treat paying customers like that? Embarrassing. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

Heuvel is a friendly bar, popular with locals, they also have a great terrace where you can relax and watch the world go by.

Arrogant, unfriendly and above all incompetent!!! After waiting for more than 20 minutes, you weren't served, even though the café wasn't overly busy. One can do it, the other can't. These two guys definitely don't know how to do gastronomy!!!!

Went there for drinks last night with my friends, a girl was hyperventilating on the floor and the servers were not helpful and tried to kick her out, I’m definitely not going back, to a place that treats the patrons this way

I had a shocking experience at this bar. A waiter forcefully pushed me out of his way without warning. When I calmly questioned him, he dismissed me, saying he works there, as if that justified his behavior. When I asserted that it wasn’t okay, he became hostile and started mocking me, even as I became visibly distressed and began to cry. Feeling overwhelmed and unsafe, I reacted, and instead of de-escalating the situation, the staff sided with him and treated me with zero empathy, despite the fact that I was on the floor, hyperventilating. The complete lack of professionalism and compassion from the staff was deeply upsetting. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a safe, respectful environment.

I have been to this place a few times for a casual drink as I live around the corner. After today’s experience will not come back. I suggested this place to my friends and we went for a drink in the terrace in December. When we arrived 2 out of 3 friends ordered and one of them decided he did not want to order anything at the moment. The waiter very quickly replied “oh you are enjoying the warmth of the heater right? Then you are going to order something!” Acting like it was rush hour and we were occupying a table and not consuming. Important to highlight that the terrace was half empty, so for sure we were not keeping them from making money. This is the type of bullying attitude I will not tolerate, and having worked in hospitality, the waiter has a huge lack of customer service and respect. I’m not the type of person to make a scene, so I have ordered 2 Tonics for myself to “cover” my friend, we had our drink and left. so Really hope those couple of euros helped reach your target and pay the electricity bill for the heaters of your empty terrace.🌈

El servicio más horrible en Amsterdam. Mis amigos y yo estábamos teniendo un día maravilloso, disfrutando del sol y el ambiente encantador de la ciudad, solo para que se arruine completamente por el barman grosero, verbalmente abusivo, horrible (¿quizás incluso propietario?). Quédate muy, muy lejos de este lugar. La peor experiencia que he tenido desde que me mudé a los Países Bajos.

Gran lugar para sentarse fuera y ver el mundo pasar mientras toma un par de pintas a la hora del almuerzo. El bar está en una encrucijada muy pequeña donde las bicicletas mandan. Muy entretenido ver a los lugareños virando para evitar que los turistas deambulen por el carril bici. La cerveza es buena, los servidores todo amigable, si ves una mesa agarrala como las barras si se pone muy ocupada

El barman más oxidado, pero un café / bar muy pintoresco. Actuó como misógino en mi contra (soy una mujer para el contexto). Llevaba una camisa blanca. Pedí un 2 Heinekens, uno para mi mamá y yo (en Irlanda que normalmente significaría una pinta). Empezó a servir un vaso pequeño, luego dije “Lo siento, quería decir 2 pintas” y luego dijo “Nunca dijiste pintas”. Mirando hacia atrás, tal vez debería haberlo hecho. Le dije que en Irlanda nunca tenemos que decirlo en Irlanda (para que supiera por qué ya que la cultura es diferente). Luego dijo groseramente “Bueno no estás en Irlanda estás en Holanda” (gracias por escenificar lo obvio por cierto : ) ) ni siquiera fue lo que dijo sino la forma en que me miró y sonrió. Me pareció extraño... de alguna manera me quedé sintiéndome avergonzado frente al bar y pensé que él se lo habría dicho a mi hermano y a mi papá... creo que no. Volveremos a los Países Bajos, pero no aquí nunca más.

To flee! To be avoided at all costs...to summarize, we were almost insulted by the waiter because my three-year-old son stayed in the toilet for more than 3 minutes and he told us that we were scaring away the customers (so if we scares customers away, so much the better they will thank us). Basically, I had ordered a zero coke, while my husband was in the toilet with our son, when he came back, he told me that the woman inside the cafe is angry because my son was in the toilet (a real sketch) so I tell the waiter that I'm paying zero for my coke and we leave and then he gets angry saying that we didn't order enough that there are three of us etc and that we had taken advantage of the toilets hahaha. A real crazy person! In short, really the kind of place to avoid...read the other comments, I'm not the only one...it's quite hilarious!

We wanted to have a drink outside on the terrace. Many tables are empty, but there is a dirty ashtray on every table, which I personally don't like for my nose when I drink coffee. I put the dirty ashtray on another table, the waiter comes and just puts it back... Maybe there are other people who want to smoke was his answer. Not at a table where we sit? Weird and rude action. Coffee wasn't special either, just ready-made from the machine, not hot either.

Für uns die beste Kneipe in der Stadt! Gut gezapftes Bier, freundliche Bedienung mit Humor. Jeden Abend sind wir zum Abschlussbier gekommen mit der Hoffnung, einen freien Platz zu ergattern. Nicht immer einfach, das Lokal ist sehr beliebt. Wir kommen wieder !!!
