Great cafe, situated on a busy crossing with lots to see so great entertainment. Staff is very friendly and amicable. Beers are good.

I highly recommend it, it's excellent in every way. The apple pie was delicious with the coffee, and the service was very good. 👍

Unfortunately, only cow's milk is available, no alternatives. They should move with the times and offer at least one vegan option.

Near Leidse square this great bar with a unique blend of mostly locals and some tourists. The meatballs are a must, delivered fast as the drinks and shots by friendly staff. The place stands out by taking you back in time and somehow does seem contemporary. If you run into Bartje, say hi a lovely guy.

We were hoping to stop in for a quick snack here, but the food menu was very limited and none of the options allowed for our person with a gluten/dairy/beef allergy unfortunately. We ended up getting some coffees instead. Location is nice, but seating is tight along the benches inside. Service was prompt.

We visited this cafe yesterday as we noticed the apple pie that was being served , This looked delicious so we had some coffee and the apple pie , It was indeed delicious and the atmosphere was good watching people passing by , we sat down and we were noticed quickly ordered our drinks and apple pie the waiter was very friendly and our our was with us pretty quickly, We were visiting Amsterdam from the UK and stumbled across this cafe, I have read previous reviews comments but for us the drinks were good the Food was fantastic and the staff very friendly, we will visit again when we return to the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

It has remained the place "to be" for as long as I can remember.

Went there for a coffee, attracted by the good location of the place. However it was a bad situation. The service level was in a certain way passive aggressive. I am not sure whether it was because I am tourist from Asia or maybe the staff had a bad day. All in all, I was not happy about the coffee and service.

A proper Dutch local bar — nothing more, nothing less, and proud of it. Great terrace, cosy interior, and all the traditional snacks to go with your drink. If you’re after trendy beverages, matcha, bubble tea though! look elsewhere. If you want an authentic neighbourhood atmosphere that locals keep coming back to, this is your place.

You live in a country governed by law and protected by freedom of expression. If you truly believe in what you’re doing, then be honest about it and say it openly. Isn’t it basically “all foreigners get out, I only do business with local people”? Fine, I’ll say it for you. I know you don’t have the guts to say it yourself that's why you reported my review. You look down on foreigners (even though you’re in no position to), yet you don’t dare stop taking their money. How pathetic you are. If you need help making a “No foreigners allowed” sign to put at your door, I’m happy to help for free and even mail it to you. Let me know.

Avoid this place at all costs! This café is openly racist! My husband, who is of European descent, went in, and I, who am not, was told they were full even though there were empty seats... We ignored the waiter's comment and went in. When we left, we witnessed the same scene with two women of Asian descent... In short, this café is fundamentally racist, the drinks are expensive, and the atmosphere is gloomy! AVOID AT ALL COSTS...

They Hate Tourists and Immigrants: Awful, awful, awful Never Go!! The waitress (I don’t know her name) was extremely rude. In the middle of the bar, I was arguing with the waitress because of her racist behaviour. She told me that I am not allowed to enter inside. When I said why? She said get out!! If I had the time, I would call the police and take the case into the court. This is the worst place ever I have seen in Europe. Don’t go. They are not friendly and not happy when they see tourist

Terrible service. Awful manners. The lady and the young men were so rude I can't believe it till now

The bald waiter (the one everyone seems to have the same issue with) tried to force my friend to drink alcohol - there were four of us and the other three had bought drinks (myself included). He stood over my friend and told her she either had to buy alcohol or leave and insisted this is a rule in Amsterdam. Really intimidating experience and made everyone deeply uncomfortable. They have since responded with an immature and irrelevant comment. Do better for yourself!

Two small beers (3,75) is cheaper than 1 big beer (8,50). Weird. When I pointed this out by asking for two small beers poured into a big glass I was ignored service :,). Enjoy!

We were kicked out while we were still deciding what to order. The waiter came over and asked what we’d like, and we said we were still choosing. We were reading the menu and checking photos of the dishes on our phones since we’re not familiar with the food, it was our first time in the Netherlands. The waiter then said, ‘Well, you’re not reading the menu, you’re on your phones.’ Rude. But honestly, maybe it was a good thing we didn’t stay. After reading some of the other reviews of the place, you get a pretty clear idea of what it’s like.

As a born Amsterdammer I can say that this is truly one of the nicest places in Amsterdam. In addition, always laughing with the staff.

We were sitting on the terrace with an aperol and we were cold and then Robbert came to us with a few blankets, such personal service! I love it!

El camarero / camarero se acercó a nosotros tres veces en probablemente tres minutos, progresivamente cada vez más grosero, ya que dijimos que nuestro amigo estaba adentro pidiendo. Luego volvió a entrar para comprobar si nuestro amigo estaba pidiendo - también vale la pena señalar que todo el lado en el que estábamos sentados estaba completamente vacío, no estábamos tomando una mesa valiosa. Volvió a la mesa, procediendo a decir que no podía encontrar a nuestro amigo e incluso si está pagando por una bebida, no estamos pagando a los clientes, así que me ofrecí a irme, pero dijo que estaba bien. Luego entró al baño y verificó si estaba en el baño. Mi amigo volvió y se sentó y el camarero volvió la tercera vez para decir que no podíamos sentarnos allí, a pesar de decirnos lo contrario dos veces antes. Específicamente la forma en que hablaba era tan innecesariamente degradante.

All reviews about rudeness, people being pushed away by staff, too direct and the like. I can certainly deny it. There are always two sides to the story and they are not presented here. As long as you can just say thank you, please, and goodbye (as you should) then you've come a long way. In short, a wonderful tent, with a great atmosphere! Café Heuvel is one of the best cafés in Amsterdam

Great neighborhood pub, we have been coming here a few times a week for 20 years, hospitality reigns supreme, nice and friendly staff.

I spent 1 hour and 15 minutes in this café today. I noticed that the level of friendliness from the two people behind the counter varies depending on the customer: Dutch customer: very friendly White foreign customers: moderately friendly Non-white foreign customers: very unfriendly When I simply asked for a price, the bartender accused me of causing trouble... Strange attitude.

Tuve una experiencia decepcionante en este café. Pedimos dos expresos, y el personal era antipático y poco atractivo — sin saludos, sin conversaciones y apenas reconocimiento. Cuando llegó el momento de pagar, ni siquiera miraron hacia arriba, simplemente colocaron el recibo en el mostrador en silencio. El café en sí era muy caro por la calidad. En general, un lugar que no recomendaría si valoras el buen servicio y un ambiente acogedor.

We came in to have a tea and the bald man serving at the bar scoffed and was unhappy. I think he was unhappy we only ordered one thing but there was literally no one there so it’s not like we were taking room away. It was an uncomfortable experience. Why would you treat paying customers like that? Embarrassing. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!
