Cafe Kooper Leidseplein in De Weteringschans

Café Kooper is a cozy brown-café located at Leidseplein 16, right in the heart of Amsterdam. It doubles as a café-restaurant and bar, open from morning until late-night, with themed student nights, DJs from Thursday to Saturday, and broadcasts of Ajax and Dutch national team matches .

Mediocre bar, toilet for guests costs extra

Even though it was more intended for a day bar rather than a night one, I liked it anyway.

I really recommend this place . The food , drinks and costumer service are amazing Especially a waiter Franek we spent here one week and we were here everyday he was taking care of us really much . The garden was super cozy :)

12 euro for a pint of lagunitas...STAY AWAY!!!!!

Kkr tent, waited an hour with two glasses of wine. We have asked several times where it is. And it will always take a while. But in the end we wait an hour for our wine. It wasn't busy at all, half the tables were empty. Bad shit tent

Wir wollten uns eine Pause gönnen und hier etwas essen und trinken. Die Kellnerin war am Anfang sehr aufdringlich, obwohl nicht viel los war. Ich konnte nicht mal die Karte durchlesen und wurde sehr gestresst. Die Gedränke kamrn allerdings sehr schnell. Wir wären eigentlich hergekommen, um etwas zu essen aber jedesmal, wenn wir gefragt haben, wurden wir ignoriert. Alle anderen Tische wurden aber bedient. Nachdem wir eine Ewigkeit gewartet haben, haben wir bezahlt und sind gegangen. Nie wieder!

Super fun! delicious cocktails and the chicken nachos are also very tasty. You sit comfortably under the heater so it is not cold. Definitely recommended!

Undgå for alt i verden dette sted. Deres køkkenhygiejne gav os en seriøse madforgiftning i 2 1/2 døgn. Det blev så til de sidste dage i Amsterdam tilbragt hhv i sengen og bøjet over toilettet på hotelværelset.

The burgers are very good here, and the bitteballen quite tasty as well. The cheese tosti however was really disappointing as it had one of the thinnest slices of ham and almost no cheese inside, although the cheese in the outside was nice. The outdoor seating is quite nice, but our server was inattentive despite there being very few customers early in the evening.

We wanted to have a drink and my husband wanted to use the facilities, he was asked to pay to have access to them...outrageous!

They charged us dubbel. Me at the table and my friend before going to the bathroom (which they charge for 0.5€ even if you are a customer) Be aware of this scam!

Muchos asientos al aire libre para que la gente vea mientras disfruta de una bebida o una comida. Paramos aquí después de una visita al Museo Van Gogh. Sentado fuera y servidor vino bastante rápido. Pedí bebidas, mejillones y papas fritas, y una ensalada César de pollo. Todo estaba delicioso! El pollo en la ensalada estaba muy bueno, los mejillones se cocinaron al vapor en vino blanco y se sirvieron con una variedad de salsas para mojar. Las patatas fritas eran las mejores que tuvimos en un restaurante en Amsterdam. Recomendado!

The beer tasted very bad and looked very old, the staf is nice and inside the bar/club it looks cool. Conclusion: dont get the Heiniken bc it doesn't taste like Heiniken

For the price the food is nothing special at all. Not bad but also not that good. The patio area is nice and the service was great, the staff were super pleasant and helpful. It’s a bit expensive for what you get but if price doesn’t matter to you then it’s a fine place to eat and drink.

Came here with my mam and Kim greeted us straight away with a smile, helped pick things out off the menus and catered to us for the entire night. Coming back here for the rest of the trip for the fantastic food, cocktails, beer and outstanding service! 10/10 recommend if you’re in for a lil nibble and good vibe around the place

El almuerzo fue horrible. La camarera fue muy grosera y me cobró 15 euros de más. La comida era del supermercado local y los nachos donde piedra dura. No voy a volver a comer allí. Realmente decepcionado

Super tasty cocktails and nice ambience. Unfortunately you have to pay extra for the toilet even if you are a guest. That doesn't work! And paying for each drink separately is a bit annoying, but ok. Is now common. The prices are also typical for Amsterdam.

Had a meal and a couple drinks here, the staff are nice and friendly, the steak was very yum, I had mine medium rare and was so good.

We were sitting on the terrace when the waitress came to take our order, and I asked her for something as simple as a napkin. She told me she couldn’t bring it because she was very busy and asked me to go inside the bar to get it myself. It’s supposed to be a basic expectation for all establishments to have at least paper napkins available in case of spills or for whatever you might need. When I went inside to look for one, the bar was practically empty, so there weren’t many people. I don’t understand what she was so busy with; it seemed like she was doing me a favor by bringing our drinks, which obviously isn’t her job or obligation. Too much arrogance for a simple bar on a corner in Amsterdam…”

They don't even give food but what music, great technazo and the DJs made us vote

Had such a brilliant time here . Staff were absolutely amazing, so friendly and polite. Really accommodating. drinks were fantastic: I would return to Amsterdam just to come back here. Thanks a million guys

A huge joke. The service is not worth much. Several servers passed by us, asked us to push us to clean tables without ever taking our order. A good 15 minute wait before the order is taken, even though the bar is almost empty. The waiter doesn't understand much, he has to repeat a simple order 3 times: two beers. Fast service. Back to the hassle of paying… the servers have disappeared.

Lovely cafe food. Great friendly service. The whole area is covered with canopies and outdoor heaters. So we kept warm whilst eating outside during our visit in March.

Quite nice food, service was a little slow but very friendly

Horrible. We placed an order, they brought the wrong order and then the right one. We ate normally and in the end we were made to pay for both. Even if you don't ask for the first one. The guy who talked to us was very inelegant and uneducated. I do not recommend!

Stopped for a burger and chips with a beet after work when I was in Amsterdam a few weeks ago. The burger wasn't slightly over, but not dry. Generous amount of fries. Prices a bit steep, especially for a South African.

I loved the atmosphere, a very lively Brazilian DJ was playing! I loved it, the people were super lively and the bar staff was super friendly!!! It is worth it

Lekkere panini gegeten, klein maar fijn, voor een redelijke prijs. De bediening was vriendelijk, maar ik verwacht in Nederland wel in het Nederlands bediend te worden. De dienster verstond wel enkele woordjes Nederlands, maar sprak geen woord Nederlands, kon zelfs niet tot twee tellen in de plaatselijke taal. Jammer...

Lekkere koffie, doch zeer duur en geen bediening in het Nederlands !

Leider war es eine absolute Enttäuschung. Das Personal war super lieb, hat aber ganz schön auf sich warten lassen. Das Essen war sehr teuer und war absolut nicht den Preis wert. Keine Empfehlung

Vanavond hier gegeten, eerst duurde het al 45 minuten voordat wij eten konden bestellen. De bediening was niet zo snel. Eenmaal ons eten gekregen was de burger nog rauw, de koe loeide nog, en het broodje was aangebrand. (Zie foto’s) met z’n tweeën gegeten en een van ons heeft nu een voedselvergiftiging door de burger en keiharde frietjes. De broodjes met smeersels waren daarentegen wel erg lekker.

Deze week met 220 collega's in Amsterdam geweest. Van de officiële feeatlocatie na afloop met 120 collega's naar het leidseplein gelopen. De medewerkers van Cafe Kooper ontving ons met open armen. De goede barmedewerkers, DJ en uitsmijter reageerden perfect op de situatie en hebben er een mooi feestje van gemaakt! Ook op het terras was er ruimte voor een gezellig gesprek. Top avond gehad!

Opzichzelf was het terras wel gezellig. Maar de glazen die bij ons drinken kwamen waren enorm vies! Zaten sporen op van God weet wat. Heb gewoon uit mijn flesje gedronken.

One of the best burgers I've tried in Amsterdam, with fresh soft bun and very well prepared. Staff did a good enough job even during busy hectic period. Would recommend.

Lively place ! Friendly staff and I got served my (beautiful !) beer until quite late. I just love Leidseplein, and this bar, I will certainly return to next time I'm in Amsterdam, absolutely !

Lovely friendly staff and really nice outdoor seating under heaters. The food is delicious, we got two cheese toasties and the bread was some of the nicest I've tasted. Would highly recommend trying the 'Cheesy Tosti'.

Gutes Café/Restaurant. Bestes Wasser mit Löffel, welches ich jemals in den Genuss kommen durfte zu trinken. Unbedingtes Muss für jeden Wasserfreund da draußen

The place to be op het leidseplein! Onwijs leuke avond gehad! Personeel is attent en vlot. Buiten kan je fijn zitten op het terras en binnen is het altijd feest! Weekenden DJ aanwezig! Altijd een gezellige sfeer hier!

Amazing spot in the city centre of Amsterdam. You are in the middle of the city where you can sit down and have a quality drink and soak the energy of Amsterdam Leidseplein. Their drinks and cocktails are really good, recommend to try the strawberry mojito!
