This place was recommended to me to have a really good filtered coffee and it delivered on that promise (tried Ethiopia). Plus, it is a cozy coffee shop with very good vibes.

This place is very close to our home, basically our neighborhood café. Their lattes are great – the milk taste isn’t overwhelming, you can really taste the coffee. As for the prices, they are average for Amsterdam.

Great cafe to work/study since they have spots for it downstairs. We liked the chai latte (4,5) and the brownie (very fudgy, 3,99)

Super kids friendly, great coffee, good atmosphere. Recently I found out they added decaf coffee(extre fee needed, except for iced black coffee)

Didn’t get served, no communication so I walked out. Would not recommend.

I liked the coffee and the banana bread was really nice, but the problem was that the atmosphere was not that nice as i read in the comments that it’s very quite and suitable to study, work or even just set there with your laptop and i was not able to concentrate as the music was a bit annoying and the study/work area was filled with people that were laughing when it was only an area for that specific thing. But all in all it’s very spacious and nice

Cute cafe with a nice menu. It’s self service which is friendly and quick. You can also buy coffee beans here. Only down side is there is a cat in the cafe. For people with allergies and also not very hygienic.

My absolute favorite cafe. I love the lemon poppy seed cake they offer! The coffee is also amazing, only had the cappuccino every time i went but it’s totally amazing! Only thing i didn’t like was the cat living there o saw once. She was looking at me angrily and started hissing at me when o wanted to eat my cake so o had to eat it standing scared she would jump on me.

Lovely coffee in a nice spot near the park. However very much Amsterdam style serve yourself, including having to move dirty cups and plates from tables. Saw an elderly person having to carry in plates/cups that were left on the table for a while. When it's busy you'll have to wait standing in a cramped line, as there is no table service. Service makes a place! 🙏

been coming here for years, but i wont anymore. the staff and location are great, but the coffee and food is overpriced and the espresso recently I had was so acidic/sour that it was not enjoyable.

Great coffee , and that’s what they’re about Had a vegan cake once, was quite dry. Tosti’s are nice. Staff is efficient and friendly ! Nice location and terrace outside. Downstairs atmosphere feels a little off, but perhaps good if you wanna just work.

The staff was incredibly rude. I went in, asked for a coffee, I was asked "what type", and without thinking I said "an americano". The employee scoffed at me and said "we don't serve americano because that's horrible". They could've just said that they don't serve americanos, they didn't need to be incredibly dismissive. They should get over themselves.

Really nice coffee joint! What's especially inclusive of this place is that there is a basement for people who want to work/study and an upper area for people who come to just socialize and drink a coffee. It's nice how they cater towards both groups. The coffee itself is also very nice, although it's a bit strange they only offer double espressos (no singles) and serve them in regular coffee cups. Either way, it's a very nice spot!

This is a great place for coffee and it is also great to work. I would not go expecting to eat, but with great hunger for a very tasty coffee! If you want a place to work unbothered, this might just be it!

Great coffee and cinnamon roll. Downstairs are with plenty of power sockets. The music is a bit loud though for calls.

What a nice and chill place with amazing service! Recommended for a coffee or lemonade.

I rarely give a bad review, but this really doesn't feel right to me. A home made ice tea for almost 4 euros, great. But if you then get a very small glass full of ice, that is not okay. It was 3 small sips and then the ice tea was gone and I was left staring at a glass full of ice. If you ask 4 euros for some lemonade, that's fine, but grab a large glass, 2 ice cubes and fill it up with the drink!

This place is a gem! Always craving their chocolate vegan bars + one of the few spots in this city you can always be sure to drink a great filter coffee that matches the varietal / country. They have baristas who genuinely like coffee, I come here on a daily basis and bring my family members here. A family friendly place always packed with dogs and babies, a spot with beautiful energy!

Excellent choice of coffee and cappuccino, good desserts, outside the center but in a nice area, no table service, downstairs area reserved for the use of PCs and tablets... highly recommended

I used to come here a lot a few years ago. I visited recently to discover it has now been remodeled. The cozy ambiance is now gone.

There is a sunny terrace (3 tables I think) some bully took our table the other day but anyway the coffee is good, you can bring your sustainable cup and have your to-go coffee in the park on the benches, the place itself was a bit too busy and downstairs is a bit dark

Used to be my favourite spot in Amsterdam, where the neighbourhood would meet. I used to go there all the time because of the laid back atmosphere and the friendly staff. The renovation and change in direction destroyed it completely and turned it into yet another impersonal yuppie place. RIP Caffènation

Drinks were fine, service was nice and helpful. Atmosphere of, well, I think it's so hip that I don't get it. Collection from a second-hand Berlin warehouse, hard primary colors, it must suit your taste. Quite original, I have to give them that.

The new specialty coffee bar Caffènation Amsterdam serves coffee from home-roasted beans. And whether you go for one of the standard variants or a very tasty special? The coffee here is good. Very good! Don't feel like coffee? Then try the homemade sodas or ice teas. And don't forget to add a piece of homemade chocolate!

Amazing vegan food and great service

A decent coffee place with two floors) levels and enough seating options. The prices are reasonable too. What I didn't like was the option to tip from the card reader while making a payment. For a self service café where one has to stand in a queue and pick up the order, I don't see why tipping should even be asked. Other than that, the decor and the choice of mugs and cups could be improved. The staff was friendly.

The coffee literally tasted sour and like manure. When complaining, I got a new one, equally rubbish. The people next to me were complaining as well. We were told they have new coffee beans which are a little funky and have a fermented taste. I haven't been so dissatisfied with my coffee before. Brownie was OK though.

Under the motto, first time, and not again... Short-sighted and unfriendly attitude of the owner. Fortunately, there are plenty of more hospitable and better options around the corner...

Literally my new go-to place. Their standard is two shots of espresso and oat milk. Felt like I walked into a literal dream. The place is so cozy and has a lot of seating despite my first impression that it was a small place. And the staff makes the coffee experience even better. A definite recommend :)

Wat een goede koffie en leuke sfeer. Het personeel weet precies wat goed is! Ik ben geen kenner en ben altijd een beetje perplex on ‘specialty koffie’ zaken. Maar barista Kenza heeft me aan de hand genomen en waar ik eerst altijd een gewone koffie bestelde ben ik nu elke keer dat ik kom nieuwe dingen aan het proberen!

A must if you love great coffee. On top of pastries and cakes they now do sandwiches! Check the board on the bar to find out what they have for the day. Mostly vegan/ vegetarian options. Staff is very nice and friendly and they always have great music. It's a great spot to work from, stop to have a coffee or grab one to go :)

I'd like to emphasize that since my last review, the management has actively responded to feedback. A batch brew is consistently available now, which is a commendable improvement. Kudos to the owner for these positive changes! While their coffee consistently delights, there were moments when the service felt a bit rushed. However, since the new ownership, opening times have significantly improved, and they've brought in an adept team which has enhanced the overall customer experience. The prices, though on the premium side, align with the quality of service and product they offer. In summation, Caffenation Amsterdam undeniably excels on the coffee front. With the recent improvements, I'm optimistic about the growth of their customer experience. I always cherish my time here and am eager to see how the place evolves with its renewed focus on customer satisfaction.

Hands down some of the best coffee in the city.

Wat me opviel is dat bij een twee mans bezetting en maar 6-7 tafels bezet, je toch de koffie op moet halen. Als ze het zouden brengen en ophalen kunnen hebben ze een extra service moment en kan de tevredenheid worden getoetst en eventueel extra worden verkocht. Wij hadden wel zin in een tweede bakkie.

We had the audacity to order in the local vernacular, Dutch. Coffee was pretty sub-mediocre. We were asked im advance for a tip.
