The wine pairing is highly recommended, as each wine truly elevates the dish. 🍷 The atmosphere is cosy, with surprisingly good acoustics, and you feel as if you’ve been transported to Cape Town. Lovely tasting menu in an intimate, elegant atmosphere. The chef prepares an interesting set of dishes combining genuine South African influences and flavors with Continental techniques and local ingredients. Think South African along the lines of Franschoek and Stellenbosch, with that level of taste. The wine selections are entirely South African and quite good. Truly an unusual and interesting restaurant for global foodies.

It's unfortunate that the five stars I give you aren't a Michelin star. We started by walking through the door and Martin greeted us with enthusiasm and joy. He showed us to the first table in front of the Chef, whom he introduced to us, Italo. He gave us a warm welcome and invited us to sit. To start, we ordered pink Champagne. The first course was Beef Tongue Skewers. The second course was Ceviche, exceptional; the flavor between the citrus, oils, and textures of the sauce is simply exceptional. The third course was Duck. The meat was cooked to a point that bordered on perfection, and the sauce was inviting. The fourth course was Piri Piri Chicken, a roasted flavor with citrus, accompanied by arepas and guacamole from Venezuela, reminiscent of the fusion of South African and Latin American cultures. We closed with a dessert that invites us to savor these wonderful flavors forever. Thank you, Mr. Italo, for allowing us to taste the wonderful delicacy of your menu. Martín's attention: offering us the right drinks for each dish, explaining the ingredients in the pairing, and providing 10-point service that you'd only find in a 5-star restaurant. The bathrooms: I think their inclusion and cleanliness are fantastic. Thank you for this experience.

I visited CTSC many times now. Very impressive food, probably the best service in town and cosy atmosphere

Service was Top, but the food and the amount for THAT price….critical. Also a little slow for that super small portion. Usually if the starters are ok, the rest will follow that taste. This was ok, but nothing special. There was only one of the four dishes I actually liked- and as being a cook myself two dishes were too salty, not in harmony, too much vinegar in the sauce of the meat…there was no "experience" or emotions while eating. Also our menu was completely different than the other pictures, maybe this one was not their best. I hoped for more because of the reviews - but I would not come again. 160€ for a glass of wine, water and 4 course. I would rather eat vegan at hearth again and again, because that I will remember forever.

The food at Cape Town Social Club is excellent and wonderfully varied. The service is top notch attentive, thoughtful, and detail-oriented. They checked in about allergies, kept our water refilled, and made sure we felt looked after throughout. I enjoyed it so much I had to return, and the second time was even better! They made my birthday extra special with a complimentary glass of bubbles and a cake with fireworks. A truly memorable touch. The only downside is that the seats near the door can feel a bit drafty. Still, a fantastic experience overall, highly recommended!

At the South African Cape Town Social Club, we had chosen the ‘6 course Signature’, a refined menu with each course a new surprise of taste, smell and presentation, everything was served informatively and service-oriented by the super nice waitress. Just outside the Leidseplein a top location for an evening of gastronomic enjoyment.

This cozy upmarket restaurant was the perfect place to bring my international colleagues to get a sense of South African food, but with excellent quality and attentive service. Ross from CTSC was quick to make us feel welcome and walk us through the menu and the special menu on offer. Following this I have made another booking in July to bring more of my colleagues. Was here a couple of months ago. The food and the service were amazing. Going for a second visit this week!

CTSC is a nice little gem tucked away from the Main Street. We were 4 of us and the team who served us were knowledgeable, good with wine recommendations and the pace of the meal. The kitchen was also flexible with creating vegetarian and pescatarian menus as per our groups need, although one has to indicate this in advance. We opted for the 4 course menu and our only disappointment was that the portion sizes of some of the courses were too small- main and dessert. There was no bread either except a small slice each served at the beginning with 1 of the courses. Also struck us as slightly odd that we were told at the beginning if we were still hungry after the 4 courses, we could order a portion of the dry aged beef. Doesn’t work if half the group don’t eat meat and not something you’d expect to feel after 4 courses- hungry! Another unpleasant but not overwhelmingly bad experience, was that the kitchen at some point was a bit too smoky and being a small place it was a tad uncomfortable. This however doesn’t take away from the fact that the food and service were amazing. Would definitely visit again if the portion sizes improved.

Pas de choix pour le menu hormis des petites entrées à la carte. Les 4 plats servis dans le menu (pas de menu à 6 services ce soir) sont d'un excellent niveau. Tout en équilibre, les cuissons sont parfaites, les assiettes sont superbes et les saveurs incroyables ! Je tiens à rajouter que notre serveuse à traduit, avec l'aide de son smartphone, toutes les présentations des plats . Elle était exceptionnelle ! Nous avons payé pour notre repas 200€ (pour 2 avec au total 4 verres de vin).

An Unforgettable Culinary Journey with Perfect Pairings! I recently had the absolute pleasure of experiencing the 6-Course Signature menu at CTSC, and it was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable meals I've had in a long time. From start to finish, the creativity, quality, and execution were exceptional, but what truly elevated the evening to legendary status was the phenomenal wine pairing. The journey began with a delightful oyster topped roe Amuse-Bouche, which perfectly set the tone for the culinary adventure ahead. Each subsequent course was a masterpiece: * The Seasonal Fish was delicate and aromatic, bathed in a subtle Mussel Broth enhanced with fresh Coriander and a hint of Smoke. * The Potato Terrine was a surprising delight – the earthy Oyster Mushrooms and bright Fennel were beautifully balanced by the bold Gorgonzola. A truly inspired combination. * Next, the Duck was cooked beautifully, its richness perfectly offset by a flavourful Chutney, earthy Mushrooms, and the pleasant tang of Pickled Mustard Seed. * The Pork Belly was divine – meltingly tender with an incredibly crisp exterior, wonderfully complemented by the sweet and sour Tamarind glaze and fresh Pak Choi. * The final savoury course, Lamb neck, was exceptionally tender and flavourful, paired thoughtfully with sweet Pumpkin and tart Blueberry notes (my favorite dish!) Concluding the meal, the Poached Pear dessert was a unique and refreshing ending, intriguingly spiced with Turmeric and the distinct flavour of Baobab. Now, onto the Wine Pairing my wife and I each did a half pairing (we for sure walked home, if ya know what I mean). This is where the experience went from great to truly outstanding. Each wine was selected with incredible care and precision, not merely complementing but genuinely enhancing every dish. The synergy between the food and wine was remarkable – highlighting subtle flavours in the dishes while showcasing the character of the wines. It was evident that a great deal of thought and expertise went into these selections, making it genuinely one of the best pairings I've ever encountered. The wine and lamb pairing was out of this world! If you're looking for an exceptional dining experience that delights the palate and showcases the art of food and wine pairing, I cannot recommend the 6-Course Signature menu highly enough. It's a must-try, especially with the wine pairing! We will definitely be returning.

This is my second time visiting Cape Town Social Club, and if there is anything Alex and the team do well, it is making you feel welcome, spoiled, and at home the moment you walk through the door. We had the four-course menu for lunch and ended up having the best possible last day in Amsterdam. Best value for money culinary experience by far, paired with fantastic South African wines and dishes that explode with flavour in your mouth. Living up to the true South African food and wine experience. Warm and welcoming staff who are so passionate about food and fine dining! Alex, the owner is one of the finest hosts you'll meet in hospitality, having worked 11 years myself in the industry, make sure to order the Espresso Martini after dinner, Alex is a real professional mixologist and makes the best damn Espresso Martini I've ever had! Our favourite Top Class dining experience. We've eaten at many more highly rated and expensive Michelin star restaurants around the world, yet Cape Town Social Club in our opinion is already at that level and above! Be sure to give them your dietary requirements in advance when making a reservation, reservations are required here, as they prepare each meal in advance to ensure the freshest and highest quality ingredients! We come to eat here regularly and they have such talented chefs in the kitchen with Seb and now also with the newest addition of their Venezuelan power duo couple! A must visit for any special occasion or to score points with your loved ones! 😉

What shall I say? Been to lots of higher rated restaurants, restaurants with michelin stars etc, but the experience and food here is unmatched. Alex and his team are so so good, friendly, funny, warm-hearted and they make you feel like having a fine dining-party with friends. Alex is also a very good mixologist, he served one of the best espresso martinis I‘ve ever had, and I had plenty ;). The 6 course diner was a feast, Charly the „water-man“ did a fantastic job. We will come back as soon as possible. Lots of love to Alex and his team!

Food was very good! Service was okay and we had to pay a fine of €10 each for not letting them know in advance that we’re vegetarian. That was a bit disappointing because it’s nothing unusual in Amsterdam to request a vegetarian option. From that moment on it felt like we were a bit of a burden to the service team. Restaurant is lovely though and food and wine really good.

Just read the reviews by Reinout Ezinga and I couldn’t agree more with her since I just had the same experience at this place. Overall it was disappointing Experience at CTSC: Overpriced and Underwhelming A couple weeks back, I dined at CTSC, and unfortunately, my experience mirrored the frustrations expressed by Reinout Ezinga. The meal left much to be desired, both in terms of quality and value. First, the cod served to my group was not only uncooked but also lacked freshness. This resulted in a stomach upset for a couple of us over the next few days, which was truly disappointing. The flavor of the food as a whole was mediocre at best—nothing to justify the high prices the restaurant charges. The presentation was equally underwhelming, and the dishes failed to impress in terms of taste or creativity. we were charged an extra €1 per piece for bread, which felt unreasonable and this was not mentioned by the service staff , and a €8 water fee that seemed excessive for what was essentially a “water”. Overall, CTSC is overpriced for the quality of food and service provided. I won’t be returning, nor would I recommend it to others seeking a satisfying dining experience.

Heerlijk eten, fantastische wijn. Degene die reserveerde koos voor ons het 4 gangen surprise menu. Dat was echt erg lekker. Met als hoogtepunt het langzaam gegaarde lamsvlees. De sauzen waren uit de kunst. Maar ook een surprise was de post 'gratuity' op de rekening van maar liefst 87 Euro! Dat vind ik een flinke afgedwongen fooi voor een diner voor 6 personen, en dat was achteraf toch wel een smet op een verder vlekkeloze avond, met top-bediening van Sophia en collega's.

The food was really substandard for a place of this level. Risotto ball appetizer no taste. The pear dish was not bad, but the sauce was too high in acidity and therefore not in balance and perhaps a little more could have been done with the pear. Then the cod: it was brine inedible and therefore sent back. It was resolved well and a new one was received, but this mouse was completely without taste. Fish was now mediocre; bordering on overbaked and a bit dry. Sauce not well bound and too low in taste. I think the main course of meat was a kind of brisket, it was way too dry. Vega tempeh was the worst thing of the evening. Should not be called tempeh and is simply not good in terms of structure and taste. Cheese board mediocre. Staff very friendly but not personal. Complaints were resolved ok, but a bit perfunctory. 1st wine when pairing is a sour bomb of chemicals. Alternative that we got mewoah. Sorry for the critical one review, but it just doesn't often happen that so many elements are wrong

We had a great evening here. Alex was super involved with the dietary requirements and the surprise I wanted to share. We even called in advance to coordinate everything properly. The other employees in the service were just so friendly that we had to get used to them at first after the service we are used to in Amsterdam. We took the 6-course menu and the dishes served were fantastic, as were the accompanying wines. I would therefore certainly not go for the 4-course menu. Then you miss 2 great dishes. Surprising and tasty combinations and everything was just right. We received very personal attention from the staff and were made to feel so welcome. Definitely a little bit of Cape Town here in Amsterdam. This restaurant is now in my top 5 favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. A real enrichment for the city.

Had a delicious meal at Cape Town Social Club! Fantastic service from Greg (who, like the rest of the staff, is from South Africa). Flavors of the food took us back to Cape Town, and in combination with delicious South African wines, this made for an amazing dinner. Highly recommended!

Better eat before as 4 course miniature meals will leave you hungry, while extreme long time for waiting to get that next tinny meal will make you dream proper food. Fine dining does not equal hunger and 70 euro should at least guarantee proper dinner. Pitty as otherwise nice and professional service lady.

Nous avons passé une excellente soirée grâce au service (imposé) avec amuse bouche puis 4 plats et dessert en ayant choisi des vins au verre. Personnel présent mais discret, un service parfait La cuisine est délicieuse de saveurs variées, les assiettes arrivent chaudes (un plus qui se fait rare et que nous avons beaucoup apprécié). I had an incredible experience at Cape Town Social Club. I was slightly delayed coming from the Airport and they accommodated me without any hesitation. The courses were so well paced and the chef has curated an amazing menu packed with such phenomenal flavours!. The service staff extremely clued up on everything from food to drink, Zandie and his front of house team are truly fantastic! The atmosphere was amazing and the decor of the restaurant was so aesthetically pleasing! I had a great dinner and was definitely an experience for the books! Being in hospitality myself I would 11/10 recommend and I will definitely be going again next time I visit Amsterdam!

We were recommended this restaurant by friends so we decided to go with my partner to try it out. The service and staff were really great we were welcomed and taken care of very well the entire night. The food was very tasty we loved it (we chose 6 courses) I couldn’t drink alcohol unfortunately that night but they had a very nice non alcoholic sparkling wine that was delicious and dry so tasting the same as a normal sparkling wine. Price is really great for the quality and good vibe that you get. I recommend this place. We will be back :)

Excellent and personal service from start to finish, great atmosphere, and at least 3 of the 6 dishes impressed while the remaining ones were of course still very good. We also had the wine pairing which was good, albeit a bit overpriced at 70 euros for 6 slightly-more-than-half glasses. It could have been fine if every single glass was over the moon, but we only felt that about 2-3 of them, and the rest were "just" good. They were very open about the ability to switch a wine out if it wasn't to your liking, which is nice to offer, however, I am not gonna go through that hassle as long as the wine is good. And charging 4 euros per person for water feels ridiculous at a venue of this caliber. Would come back, but skip the pairing!

So good! We have been to some incredible Michelin rated restaurants before, and a very famous South african one in Nice, that's absolutely amazing, and we think that Cape Town Social Club is better. Cannot wait to go back.

Exceptional Fine Dining; The food was great, especially when paired with the recommended selection of surprising wines. The staff managed to elevate the whole experience with their excellent service: it is clear they pride themselves on their typical South-African hospitality and live up to their own high standards.

This cozy little restaurant is a perfect hidden gem in a narrow Amsterdam street. You are not eating at a restaurant here, it feels like you are eating at a friend’s house and you are treated as such by the entire staff. Amazing food, great wines and wonderful service, provided by passionate people.

Absolutely amazing experience!!! It was our first time trying South African cuisine. The hospitality and service was exceptional, Alex and his crew took great care of us. They were very welcoming, friendly, and genuinely proud to share their dishes, wine-selection, and stories with us. Every plate was extremely tasty and satisfying in their own way and so were the wine-pairings. It was admiring to see how passionate Alex is about his restaurant, his dishes, and his wines. We had an amazing time and would 200% recommend !! Thank you again Alex and the team for a great night 🥂

One of the best new restaurants in Amsterdam that opened last year. I have been here now 3 times. The extremely friendly and knowledgeable South African staff is a true gem, the food is delicious and the price for it all is reasonable. Will for sure be back ! Keep up the good work.

Went for a Saturday lunch and had the 4-course menu with a few of their optional add-ons. Food was amazing - every dish was delicious, creative, well-balanced and beautiful put together! Wines were all amazing and paired well, a great introduction to South African wines. Service was very friendly and laid-back but completely on-point. I have recommended to friends already and look forward to going back again!

Wat een ervaring! Wat was dit toch een prachtige avond met fantastisch eten en geweldige wijnen! Na een paar vragen kwamen er wat geweldige anekdotes uit zuid Afrika en waar ik echt moest geen eten als ik er weer heen ging. Voelde echt alsof ik Alex en sophie al jaren kon! Great find in the heart of Amsterdam. Choice of 4 or 6 courses, no à la carte options, but great care for special requests. A priori classic ingredients - ceviche, pork neck, chicken - but amazingly prepared and surprising flavors. Pricey but worth it if you want a quiet delicious night out. All South African wine list, for all tastes.

We had a great evening at this restaurant just a stone's throw from Leidseplein. Alex and Sophie know how to provide the dishes with beautiful South African wines and conviviality. The food that the two top chefs in the kitchen manage to put on the table is fantastic. The pork neck and the peach dish were our favorites. And don't forget the skewers with beef tongue. Phenomenal! We will definitely come back!

What an amazing experience! We were a group of 11 celebrating a special event, and had several dietary restrictions, but the Cape Town Social Club team was super flexible and accommodated everything for us. The food is delicious, the staff is awesome and very helpful, and the atmosphere is relaxed and distinct. 100% recommended!!!
