Came here for my birthday. Pretty good food, and good wine pairing. A bit expensive but that’s ok with the quality. Highly recommended!

Best food and service I have had in ages! We were there on a wednesdaynight and it was nice and quiet.

What a beautiful experience. The food is excellent and in our opinion absolutely top notch for the price. Service from Sophia was wonderful too. Highly recommend.

Wonderful vibe, truly immersed in South Africa with a typical Capetonian feel. Top class cuisine and a smart South African wine menu too. We love the place, we go there often, you should too!

We had a wonderful evening and fantastic food. Host Alex created a great atmosphere and we ended the evening with the guests at the table next to us. This place lives up to its name ;) We enjoyed it!

What shall I say? Been to lots of higher rated restaurants, restaurants with michelin stars etc, but the experience and food here is unmatched. Alex and his team are so so good, friendly, funny, warm-hearted and they make you feel like having a fine dining-party with friends. Alex is also a very good mixologist, he served one of the best espresso martinis I‘ve ever had, and I had plenty ;). The 6 course diner was a feast, Charly the „water-man“ did a fantastic job. We will come back as soon as possible. Lots of love to Alex and his team!

Visiting Cape Town is always a highlight and great experience. Good food and excellent wines with a great host. Absolute our favorite restaurant. Alexander knows how to turn it into an unforgettable moment.

Food was very good! Service was okay and we had to pay a fine of €10 each for not letting them know in advance that we’re vegetarian. That was a bit disappointing because it’s nothing unusual in Amsterdam to request a vegetarian option. From that moment on it felt like we were a bit of a burden to the service team. Restaurant is lovely though and food and wine really good.

Just read the reviews by Reinout Ezinga and I couldn’t agree more with her since I just had the same experience at this place. Overall it was disappointing Experience at CTSC: Overpriced and Underwhelming A couple weeks back, I dined at CTSC, and unfortunately, my experience mirrored the frustrations expressed by Reinout Ezinga. The meal left much to be desired, both in terms of quality and value. First, the cod served to my group was not only uncooked but also lacked freshness. This resulted in a stomach upset for a couple of us over the next few days, which was truly disappointing. The flavor of the food as a whole was mediocre at best—nothing to justify the high prices the restaurant charges. The presentation was equally underwhelming, and the dishes failed to impress in terms of taste or creativity. we were charged an extra €1 per piece for bread, which felt unreasonable and this was not mentioned by the service staff , and a €8 water fee that seemed excessive for what was essentially a “water”. Overall, CTSC is overpriced for the quality of food and service provided. I won’t be returning, nor would I recommend it to others seeking a satisfying dining experience.

Heerlijk eten, fantastische wijn. Degene die reserveerde koos voor ons het 4 gangen surprise menu. Dat was echt erg lekker. Met als hoogtepunt het langzaam gegaarde lamsvlees. De sauzen waren uit de kunst. Maar ook een surprise was de post 'gratuity' op de rekening van maar liefst 87 Euro! Dat vind ik een flinke afgedwongen fooi voor een diner voor 6 personen, en dat was achteraf toch wel een smet op een verder vlekkeloze avond, met top-bediening van Sophia en collega's.

The pacing between courses was just right, giving us time to enjoy every flavor and still have a wonderfully flowing evening. The food was really substandard for a place of this level. Risotto ball appetizer no taste. The pear dish was not bad, but the sauce was too high in acidity and therefore not in balance and perhaps a little more could have been done with the pear. Then the cod: it was brine inedible and therefore sent back. It was resolved well and a new one was received, but this mouse was completely without taste. Fish was now mediocre; bordering on overbaked and a bit dry. Sauce not well bound and too low in taste. I think the main course of meat was a kind of brisket, it was way too dry. Vega tempeh was the worst thing of the evening. Should not be called tempeh and is simply not good in terms of structure and taste. Cheese board mediocre. Staff very friendly but not personal. Complaints were resolved ok, but a bit perfunctory. 1st wine when pairing is a sour bomb of chemicals. Alternative that we got mewoah. Sorry for the critical one review, but it just doesn't often happen that so many elements are wrong

Very friendly service who also take the time to explain everything. Food in combination with wine pairing was great! Beautiful wines. Definitely worth repeating!

We had a great evening here. Alex was super involved with the dietary requirements and the surprise I wanted to share. We even called in advance to coordinate everything properly. The other employees in the service were just so friendly that we had to get used to them at first after the service we are used to in Amsterdam. We took the 6-course menu and the dishes served were fantastic, as were the accompanying wines. I would therefore certainly not go for the 4-course menu. Then you miss 2 great dishes. Surprising and tasty combinations and everything was just right. We received very personal attention from the staff and were made to feel so welcome. Definitely a little bit of Cape Town here in Amsterdam. This restaurant is now in my top 5 favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. A real enrichment for the city.

Had a delicious meal at Cape Town Social Club! Fantastic service from Greg (who, like the rest of the staff, is from South Africa). Flavors of the food took us back to Cape Town, and in combination with delicious South African wines, this made for an amazing dinner. Highly recommended!

Better eat before as 4 course miniature meals will leave you hungry, while extreme long time for waiting to get that next tinny meal will make you dream proper food. Fine dining does not equal hunger and 70 euro should at least guarantee proper dinner. Pitty as otherwise nice and professional service lady.

the person who served us Sophia was awesome so friendly and she was very knowledgeable about the food being served also the chefs Paola and Italo had a strong grasp of plating with their expertise in presenting the dishes. my dietary requirements were taken into account and that was very special to me.

My favorite meal in Amsterdam. DO NOT SKIP THE ESPRESSO MARTINI — best I’ve ever had. Food was unbelievable and I felt like I got a real taste of South Africa. Super friendly staff. Can’t say enough good things. MUST VISIT

Everything was perfect! The service was super friendly and attentive. He even gave us tips for South Africa and safari tours. The food was very unique and delicious. I highly recommend the duck and the cod! Please do yourself a favor and try the espresso martini with dessert. All in all we will be back and are very grateful for such an unforgettable evening!

Outstanding in every sense of the word. These guys (and gals) are true professionals. We were in Amsterdam for the first leg of our honeymoon and the staff at Cape Town Social Club made our experience so special. We did the 6 course tasting menu with wine pairing and everything was absolutely delicious!

Nous avons été accueillis avec gentillesse et avons pu accéder par chance à une table non réservée. Nous avons passé une excellente soirée grâce au service (imposé) avec amuse bouche puis 4 plats et dessert en ayant choisi des vins au verre. Personnel présent mais discret, un service parfait La cuisine est délicieuse de saveurs variées, les assiettes arrivent chaudes (un plus qui se fait rare et que nous avons beaucoup apprécié). Les cuissons sont parfaites, les associations inventives et pertinentes ! Merci pour cette soirée réussie!

I had an incredible experience at Cape Town Social Club. I was slightly delayed coming from the Airport and they accommodated me without any hesitation. The courses were so well paced and the chef has curated an amazing menu packed with such phenomenal flavours!. The service staff extremely clued up on everything from food to drink, Zandie and his front of house team are truly fantastic! The atmosphere was amazing and the decor of the restaurant was so aesthetically pleasing! I had a great dinner and was definitely an experience for the books! Being in hospitality myself I would 11/10 recommend and I will definitely be going again next time I visit Amsterdam!

We were recommended this restaurant by friends so we decided to go with my partner to try it out. The service and staff were really great we were welcomed and taken care of very well the entire night. The food was very tasty we loved it (we chose 6 courses) I couldn’t drink alcohol unfortunately that night but they had a very nice non alcoholic sparkling wine that was delicious and dry so tasting the same as a normal sparkling wine. Price is really great for the quality and good vibe that you get. I recommend this place. We will be back :)

Excellent and personal service from start to finish, great atmosphere, and at least 3 of the 6 dishes impressed while the remaining ones were of course still very good. We also had the wine pairing which was good, albeit a bit overpriced at 70 euros for 6 slightly-more-than-half glasses. It could have been fine if every single glass was over the moon, but we only felt that about 2-3 of them, and the rest were "just" good. They were very open about the ability to switch a wine out if it wasn't to your liking, which is nice to offer, however, I am not gonna go through that hassle as long as the wine is good. And charging 4 euros per person for water feels ridiculous at a venue of this caliber. Would come back, but skip the pairing!

So good! We have been to some incredible Michelin rated restaurants before, and a very famous South african one in Nice, that's absolutely amazing, and we think that Cape Town Social Club is better. Cannot wait to go back.

Exceptional Fine Dining; The food was great, especially when paired with the recommended selection of surprising wines. The staff managed to elevate the whole experience with their excellent service: it is clear they pride themselves on their typical South-African hospitality and live up to their own high standards.

This cozy little restaurant is a perfect hidden gem in a narrow Amsterdam street. You are not eating at a restaurant here, it feels like you are eating at a friend’s house and you are treated as such by the entire staff. Amazing food, great wines and wonderful service, provided by passionate people.

Absolutely amazing experience!!! It was our first time trying South African cuisine. The hospitality and service was exceptional, Alex and his crew took great care of us. They were very welcoming, friendly, and genuinely proud to share their dishes, wine-selection, and stories with us. Every plate was extremely tasty and satisfying in their own way and so were the wine-pairings. It was admiring to see how passionate Alex is about his restaurant, his dishes, and his wines. One of the best new restaurants in Amsterdam that opened last year. I have been here now 3 times. The extremely friendly and knowledgeable South African staff is a true gem, the food is delicious and the price for it all is reasonable. Will for sure be back ! Keep up the good work.

Went for a Saturday lunch and had the 4-course menu with a few of their optional add-ons. Food was amazing - every dish was delicious, creative, well-balanced and beautiful put together! Wines were all amazing and paired well, a great introduction to South African wines. Service was very friendly and laid-back but completely on-point. I have recommended to friends already and look forward to going back again!

Great find in the heart of Amsterdam. Choice of 4 or 6 courses, no à la carte options, but great care for special requests. A priori classic ingredients - ceviche, pork neck, chicken - but amazingly prepared and surprising flavors. Pricey but worth it if you want a quiet delicious night out. All South African wine list, for all tastes.

We had a great evening at this restaurant just a stone's throw from Leidseplein. Alex and Sophie know how to provide the dishes with beautiful South African wines and conviviality. The food that the two top chefs in the kitchen manage to put on the table is fantastic. The pork neck and the peach dish were our favorites. And don't forget the skewers with beef tongue. Phenomenal! We will definitely come back!

We were a group of 11 celebrating a special event, and had several dietary restrictions, but the Cape Town Social Club team was super flexible and accommodated everything for us. The food is delicious, the staff is awesome and very helpful, and the atmosphere is relaxed and distinct. 100% recommended!!!

THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN AMSTERDAM WITHOUT A MICHELIN STAR! My gf and I visited here the night before my birthday and what a way to see it out. Alex the owner, along with our waiter Greg were so welcoming and engaging. The food, presentation and wine pairings were exceptional and very good value. When we come back to Amsterdam, this will be the first place we will come to and the first place we will recommend to friends.

Wow! Food and service exemplary! The food is just incredible, such intense flavours and super interesting dishes, and it’s the warmest welcome and most incredible wine pairing. Obvs as a chamoniard I loved the Chamonix cab franc from franchoek, but this has been a real revelation of the best of SA produce (to someone that lived there for years). We will definitely be back! We booked into this restaurant with a group of friends and our expectations were far exceeded. Exquisite dishes, fantastic wines and warm, sincere and enthusiastic service. Rarely have you laughed so hard in a restaurant where the other guests also picked up the atmosphere perfectly. At one point almost everyone was talking to everyone, Americans (were on honeymoon), Germans and Dutch a cacophony of fun, interspersed with those delicious dishes. Bravo and congratulations for this hospitality!

Very tasty food and delicious wines. We had the 6 course menu and, although not super surprising, everything was really well executed and tasty. The wine list is modest but full of good wines, you can find something to match every dish, but it is quite expensive (many wines are around 15 euros per glass). The service is excellent; attentive, pleasant and friendly.

What an incredible dining experience! Everything was cooked to perfection and the flavours were nothing short of cosmic! The staff are amazing and go above and beyond! We had 2 vegetarians with us! We did let CTSC know before hand and they catered some outstanding alternatives! The wine recommendations and knowledge was next level! Thanks to the CTSC team for a night that we will never forget! We had dinner there last Friday. Amazing place to visit, food was delicious, perfect pairing of wines. However, the biggest compliment goes to the team and in particular to Alex and Sophia. What a level of humour, fun, energy and service!!

I loved the 4-course dinner with a wonderful wine pairing. The atmosphere and interior were tasteful but not too formal. The selection of South African wine and the authentic South African team serving the delicious food made the experience special. The service was excellent, and we had a fantastic evening. This was such a dream! Loved every minute of my time at the Cape Town social club. As a South African, the flavours of the food and the wine pairings were on point. The service was impeccable and I couldn’t recommend it more. A must visit for everyone spending time in Amsterdam.

It's unfortunate that the five stars I give you are not a Michelin star. We started by entering through the door and Martin welcomed us with enthusiasm and joy. He presented us to the first table in front of the Chef, who he introduced us to, Italo; who gave us a warm welcome and invited us to sit down. We ordered a pink Champagne to start. The first course “Beef tongue skewers”. Second course: “Ceviche”, exceptional, the flavor between the citrus, oils and textures of what makes up its sauce is simply exceptional. Third course: “Duck”, the meat was at the point that bordered on perfection and a sauce that invited you to continue. Fourth course: Piri Piri Chicken, a roasted flavor with citrus accompanied with arepas and guasacaca from Venezuela, which recalls the fusion between South African and Latin American culture. We close with a dessert that invites you not to stop tasting these wonderful flavors. Thank you very much to Mr. Italo for allowing us to taste a wonderful delicacy such as your menu. To Martín's attention, offer us the indicated drinks for each dish, explain the composition of what makes up the pairing, provide a 10-level attention that is only seen in a superior 5-star Restaurant. The bathrooms: I think their inclusivity and hygiene are great. Thank you for this experience.

I had an exceptional experience at the Cape Town Social Club! We opted for the four-course menu with wine pairings, and every dish was delightful, complemented perfectly by the high-quality wines. The highlight, however, was the outstanding service. Our main waiter, Greg, ensured we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Upon arrival, we realized that except for the start and dessert every dish contained meat, which my girlfriend doesn't particularly enjoy. The restaurant graciously accommodated her by substituting one of her dishes with fish at the last minute, which we greatly appreciated.

We chose a 4 course meal and went for a white and red wine of which the red was recommended by waitress Sophia. We experienced the main waiter Martin as a bit too much, was trying too hard. Personally I’m not a fan of using my first name while being served. He Interrupted us just a little too often. It seemed like his extreme friendliness tried to compensate with the portion size and price-quality. We had a nice evening but would not return. + Navy blue styling of the restaurant. + Waiters Sophia and Ross. + explanation of the dishes. + oysters and ceviche and bread with butter were very nice. - Portion size (still hungry when I got home) - Constant water top up - Bright light coming from the oven in the kitchen - €8 for water service - tables were placed a little too close to each other. - The floor in the toilet was wet (mixed toilets) For a similar price, but better food/service experience I suggest trying Graphite near Rembrandtplein.

Cape Town Social Club has a special place in my heart - the food is delicious, has great wines but the most important has the home feeling. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and have passion for what they are doing. Will definitely come back multiple times ❤️

Via heerlijk het 6 gangen menu geboekt. Ik las in recensies over een pijpenla als interieur, maar dat viel gelukkig erg mee, inderdaad meer lang dan breed, maar ook heel sfeervol ingericht, we voelen ons meteen thuis. Zoals op de website aangekondigd is de voertaal (zoals zo vaak in Amsterdam) alleen Engels. Maar wel heel hartelijk en met oprechte belanstelling. Ook heerlijk Zuid Afrikaanse wijnen als pairing bij het eten is zeer aan te bevelen. Wij hadden vanuit onze Zuid Afrikaanse ervaringen gehoopt op struisvogel, maar ook al ontbrak die, het smaakte allemaal geweldig.

Cool little restaurant. Loved the dark navy interiors. We went for the 4 course menu - delicious plates and great portions. The dessert could have been better (the white thing is way too sugary). Service was outstanding (Ross). I gave the atmosphere just 3 because the AC was too cold all the time and the lights were too bright. Dimmed would be cosier;)

My entire experience here was absolutely AMAZING!! The food, the wine, the service, the sweet staffs, everything was just perfect. I was so satisfied with the four courses. The biltong here is a must try too! My best memory in Amsterdam and I definitely will book in again when I travel back!!

The overall experience at this restaurant was amazing. We were warmly welcomed by Sophie and Martin, who expertly introduced the rest of their team. We went for the 6 course dining experience and every dish was surprising and incredibly tasty. I have eaten at many of the top restaurants in Cape Town where this restaurant draws inspiration from and I can gladly say this restaurant is on par, if not ahead of all of those.

If you are looking to experience something unique in Amsterdam, then you're in for a real treat at the CTSC. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, friendly staff who are knowledgable and attentive without being in your face. The wine list boasts an extraordinary list of some of the finest South African tastemakers. Reading your way through the snacks and food menu will get your taste buds dancing before you've even seen the first dish. We did the 4 course tasting menu, shared a cold bottle of white and finished off with the most wonderful desert. This team are clearly passionate about their offering and make you feel just as you should as a guest. Comfortable, informed, relaxed and satisfied. Well done to Alex, Seb and their team of professionals. We'll definitely be back, couldn't recommend this place any more.

Get what you pay for here. Great atmosphere and amazing food that’s well thought out and explained by the waiters. If you want to eat large portions and are not interested in high quality food, maybe not the place for you. But my wife and I loved it and would be back if we lived in the area.

Food was good. Portion and wine pairing appropriate. Our table waiter (I think was Craig) was very polite and explained each dish and wine with a level of confidence. The clearing waiter commented on how I looked gorgeous which was a little too familiar and Alex another waiter was quite animated and talkative. Both female serving staff were very friendly and polite. Seating was quite busy, a little more space between tables as I bumped into a neighbouring table on exit which caused embarrassment (I am a slim build and wonder how a larger person might attempt the same manoeuvre ) The decor was very tasteful, the blue velvet was very much enjoyed visually. The African style lamps made for an exotic feel. General ambiance was pleasant.

I would not recommend the restaurant to anybody unless they are looking for a matey atmosphere, whereby the main waiter believes in socialising with the clients (and bringing it to our attention when he left the restaurant to see his family, accompanied by a putting his hand on my husbands shoulder) and another waiter (thin mustache) thinks it appropriate to call me gorgeous. He was clearing the tables and also believed he had to make a point in highlighting that numerous times. When we left he waited outside to shake our hands. Why would anybody believe we would expect to be said goodby by an unprofessional helper pretending he represents the restaurant. The young man Greg/Craig and the young woman showed impeccable behavior, but the other two - no thank you. We did not come to pay for admiring self centred staff.

Good food, but small(ish) portions. Wine pairing very good 100% South African. I thought that the menu could easily have been more S/A, but apart from a very small portion of Biltong (which we paid extra for), I didn't get an African vibe. I can go to Makro or Silgro and buy Ostrich or drive to Carrefour in Antwerp and buy Zebra, so why can't a S/A restaurant source these meats? Our waitress was excellent and South African, but apart from her and the wines I missed the warmth of Cape Town on a cold rainy night in Amsterdam.

Don’t let the limited number of reviews fool you, my wife and I are hardcore foodies and cocktail lovers and this was probably the best overall experiences we’ve had at any restaurant. Every part of the 6 course signature menu was perfect, even when a course involved an ingredient I don’t normally like. The chefs are that good. Martin, Sophia and the other staff were amazing. Their personalities, attentiveness and desire to make sure every course and drink were perfect completed the overall experience. I don’t drink wine so I was a bit hesitant about there not being a cocktail menu. I had nothing to worry about as after my first cocktail I let Alex, one of the owners and the mixologist, get creative and surprise me and for four cocktails in a row I was not disappointed. We spent the entire night there and we wish we had the time to come back a second time this trip, but without a doubt we will be back whenever we visit again.

Full recommendation! Go there! It is rare that a dining experience anywhere, but especially in Amsterdam, is a hit from the get go to the last minute. Cape Town Social Club make you feel welcome from the moment you walk into the door and until you walk out of the door again they will make sure you have everything you want or need. Constant attention to the smallest details, folded napkins, small talk when someone steps out to the loo, you'll never find your water or wine glass empty. Every member of the staff you engage with gives you their full attention. The food is fantastic. Presentation, quality, it's smart, tasty a proper experience. Make sure you buy some of their Szechuan butter. We met the owner, Alex, who really seems to run this place with all his passion. And this shows, amplified by his team. Rarely do I write such detailed reviews, but I feel this place deserves a bit of my time and attention after we received so much of theirs yesterday. This has been the best dining experience in Amsterdam and the best dining experience in a long time!

We loved our visit to the Cape Town Social Club and I can't wait to come back. The food was absolutely delicious and each course was well thought through. The atmosphere was really cozy, and the open kitchen only added to this. Also, the service is beyond wonderful and better than any service I have experienced in a long time. Every single person there was there was effortlessly keen on us having a great time, and really knowledgeable about the dishes & drinks. Highly recommend!
