I had reserved a specific table (like many others have suggested in reviews) for my boyfriend birthday. We had to wait half an hour to be seated when we did show up, specifically so we could have the table I requested a month ago, and we were sat by the stairs next to the cleaning bucket instead. Our waiter was extremely rude, even put his hand up at me aggressively when I wanted to get his attention and didn’t even look at me. It’s a shame the service and hospitality is so awful because it is a very pretty restaurant with very nice food.

The delightful lady that served me tonight was awesome. Sara. Every recommendation she made was 100% correct. She served me with grace and was perfect in every way. It is about the 10th time I have eaten at Casa Di David and tonight was the best so far. EVERY TIME I come to Amsterdam I eat here, whether alone, with family or with business colleagues and customers. Great food. Good atmosphere. genuine passion.

Difficult to describe. Beautiful location, good food, friendly service, but conversation at the table is barely possible. Many large tables with very noisy guests produce an awful lot of noise. Not a place for an intimate dinner.

The food is amazing, and the portion size was just perfect. Our waiter was attentive, quick and seemed like she had a great overview of her section, which really added to the experience. However, the noise level is a bit too high for the cozy atmosphere they’re trying to create, which sadly brings down the entire experience. We had to lean over the table and almost shout to hear each other. Just listen to the video. Sometimes less is more. I think even with fewer tables, this restaurant would still be busy every day, with the food and service you can get here. And you’d actually be able to hear each other, too!

Excellent Italian restaurant. True Italian cuisine, the lasagna is better here than in Italy. Each dish speaks to a different tradition, and the pizza is excellent. In addition to the excellent food, the all-Italian staff makes this place unique. Ludovica and Sara, with their cheerfulness and professionalism, add an extra touch... Make a reservation, it's always full.

Beautiful location right on the canal. Service wasn't great, they generally seemed disinterested in us or the table near us. Would recommend for the location and atmosphere.

We had a truly wonderful dining experience at Casa di David. Everything we ordered was fresh and prepared with great care: * **Insalata David:** The burrata, pesto, greens, and tomatoes were exceptionally fresh, crisp, and well-balanced. * **David’s Pizza:** Perfect thin crust with a wonderfully crispy edge, generous mozzarella, and flavorful mushrooms. * **Carbonara:** My daughter ordered this, and after tasting it myself, I can easily say it was hands down one of the best carbonaras we have ever had. From the moment we arrived, we really enjoyed the atmosphere. The restaurant has a warm, welcoming and lively feeling that makes it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal, whether you are visiting Amsterdam as a tourist or you live locally. The highlight for us was definitely the pizza — it was absolutely perfect. It was beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and exactly what you hope for when ordering a good Italian pizza. The salad was also fresh and delicious, and everything we ordered was very enjoyable. What made the experience even better was the overall combination of good food, pleasant surroundings and a very enjoyable atmosphere. A classic Italian restaurant in Amsterdam. We've tried several Italian restaurants, but honestly, there are better. Excellent service and hospitality; almost all the waiters speak Italian. The upstairs is difficult to access via the internal stairs. The first course was served with pre-cooked pasta, which tasted like it was overcooked, never al dente. We also found that the sauce contained butter or cream. We were only told about the pre-cooked pasta after we'd placed our order. The prices were medium-high, in line with similar establishments in Amsterdam... but as mentioned, there are better. Our experience wasn't entirely positive.

Hi, the food tastes very good. However, we received the wrong food, which we found very bad, and the price-performance ratio is not good.

We had family dinner here and it was simply exquisite. Tempting appetizers - bruschetta and eggplant to go with drinks, Hugo spritz was a standout cocktail. Main course the Toscany pizza and Chicken salad were brilliant. They also had butternut squash ravioli for vegetarians. Rounded off with lovely tiramisu & affogato deserts! Quite the busy place on a Monday evening but entire staff was super friendly and helpful 👏🏼

Every single dish was absolutely delicious.there is a nice buzz at the restaurant, all staff are friendly & attentive. The octopus salad & sea food linguini were an excellent choice! Highly recommend & would go back again!

My wife and I visited Casa di David during our honeymoon, and it ended up being one of our favorite meals in Amsterdam. The pasta was easily some of the best we’ve ever had, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Reservations are definitely a must because the restaurant was packed. Our waitress was wonderful, even though she was clearly very busy, and she still made us feel well taken care of. We’d absolutely recommend Casa di David to anyone looking for incredible Italian food in Amsterdam!

Linguine alle vongole with bottarga is a must-try. Pair it with a Chardonnay. I highly recommend this dish.

She seemed to be running the whole restaurant with ease — moving from table to table with incredible energy, a great sense of humor, and a smile that never faded. Her juggling act of service was something we’ve never seen before. Her food recommendations were spot‑on, and every dish she guided us toward was excellent. If you’re looking for fantastic Italian food paired with true 5‑star service, make sure you ask for Alexandra. She’s a standout and made our evening unforgettable.

Ate here twice during our short stay in Amsterdam. The food and wine selection were great! Service was fantastic and several staff members recognized us and welcomed us back. Atmosphere is great for lunch or dinner.

Such a lovely place with an amazing vibe! When we were getting seated, a group of three women next to us told us they’ve been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years and it’s still their absolute favorite. That speaks volumes! Even though the place was completely packed, the service was incredibly fast. The waiters were so sweet, knew the menu inside out, and gave us great recommendations. It’s beautiful, cozy, and has such a warm atmosphere. We’re already planning to copy those ladies and make this our go-to spot for the next 25 years!!!

We stumbled upon this place the other night and was able to get a table with our friends. Not only is it fun to watch them make the pizzas, our service Alex was terrific. She was friendly, attentive and so accommodating. Mostly everyone in our group had pizza and I tried the Spaghetti with clams. Everything was outstanding. So good, that my husband and I plan to come back tomorrow night, as it will be our last night in Amsterdam.

We walked in at the busiest time and they still say us! We had such an amazing meal and our waitress Alex completely made the night — she was so kind and attentive and answered our many questions about the wine list and food options. Thanks!! We came a family of 5, at evening,the restaurant was not full We ordered 1 bruschetta for starters and 5 dishes of pasta. 2 of them were kids pasta We got the starter after few minutes and then waited more than 45 mins for the pasta. No one approached us or update us , kids got crazy Also there is no AC and it was really hot in there

I am really not sure why my hotel recommended this restaurant. The service and food was at best not good. The pizza was so greasy without much flavor. Truffle pasta tasteless. Waiter never came around to ask how food was. Would never recommend.

The host was really nice, in a place so crowded with so many people coming in and out I was happy he made time for me as I waited for my table. It was less than an hour to get in (no reservation 1 person), so I was lucky. The food however was underwhelming — I ordered the cacio e pepe and it turned out it was a bechamel white sauce type, nothing like what I had in Rome. The Parmesan cheese was disappointing also, it was thinly grated and not fresh. No surprise it was all Americans eating there and not one Italian in sight! A lot of hype around this restaurant and little substance.

The waiters are very rude. I went 3 times. All the waiters were arrogant and rude. The food is also quite ordinary.

We were warmly welcomed and escorted to our seats upstairs. The restaurant feels authentic and has a lovely atmosphere. The service was professional and friendly, with an eye for detail. The dishes were delicious. After dining here again after several years, there is still nothing to complain about. We were with a large group, but that was not an issue. I think many of the party will come back again; I certainly will!

It’s genuinely surprising how this place manages to hold a rating above average. The interior was extremely crowded and poorly ventilated, making the overall experience quite uncomfortable. Service was noticeably slow — well beyond what would be considered acceptable for a restaurant of this level. As for the food, it was largely disappointing. . What stood out even more was the lack of basic service awareness: despite sending the dish back and placing an additional order, the staff didn’t even bother to ask what the issue was. No follow-up, no concern. It feels like a place that relies heavily on tourist traffic and, as a result, has stopped caring about both quality and service. Unfortunately, that shows.

My boyfriend and I had a delicious meal here! We hadn't made a reservation, but that wasn't a problem! We were welcomed very warmly and were able to order our food very quickly. For years, this has been a well-known Italian restaurant in the city center. We have been coming here for years; the quality of the food is high and consistent, and the atmosphere is always good. It had been a while since we had eaten here, so we went for a delicious Italian meal on Saturday evening before enjoying a good movie at the cinema. The restaurant is always busy, or rather, packed. Tables are placed very close together, making it a bit noisy. The tables themselves are also very small, which makes it a bit cramped. The best seats are upstairs by the window. Starters are tasty and the right size. Be sure to book the antipasto mix as a starter. The pizzas are also very tasty, as are the pastas. Moreover, you will find the ultimate tiramisu here. Delicious! The service is usually friendly. They do not always speak Dutch and English very well. Sometimes this comes across as curt. It is also annoying that they do not serve all dishes at once; consequently, the bruschetta had already been placed on the table, while our other guests only received the antipasto mix 10 minutes later, which is certainly annoying. Furthermore, our waiter often forgot to set the table with new cutlery and napkins. We didn't make a fuss about it, and it wasn't, but for a "luxury" Italian restaurant, that really shouldn't happen. In short, a delicious Italian restaurant in the city center of Amsterdam, definitely worth a visit!

If you’re an American craving sub par Italian food, you’ll find yourself at home at Casa di David. From the server calling me “signore” to the scroll menus and the undercooked-over-seasoned pasta, each passing minute I spent in Casa di David felt like I was plunging further into Dante’s Inferno.
