Went to this restaurant Friday both had pasta I had mushroom with masala wine sauce my husband had the slow cook meat special. He also had the most wonderful tiramisu. Andreas and Tanya are wonderful and a visit to this restaurant is a must

It's a cozy restaurant, but the food was unfortunately disappointing, or we made the wrong choices (two eggplant casseroles and one chef's pasta). The Frittura di Pesce starter was okay. Furthermore, it took a very long time for our dishes to be served. When two of our tablemates were already halfway through their casseroles, I finally received my pasta – with Parma ham crumbs, even though I had clearly stated beforehand that I didn't want that. The dish was taken back without an apology or explanation of how long it would take again. My tablemates had already finished by the time my correct dish finally arrived. I think it's a shame that the kitchen doesn't try to serve the dishes simultaneously and that there was so little attention to service and communication. From my own experience in the hospitality industry, I know this could definitely be improved. I think that the level of service here in the Netherlands is simply not what people are accustomed to, unfortunately. Not worth repeating, as far as I'm concerned...

Had a delicious meal in a cozy restaurant.

I don't know what happened here. Used to be a cosy place with great food and character. Now - standard fast food type Italian fare served by arrogant staff at premium prices - tasteless fridge bruschetta, tasteless cheesy lasagna, etc. Literally no taste, which is rare. And not even fast, took a long time to get served. To be avoided by (Italian) food lovers.

It was delicious. Great atmosphere, even better service. The wines were brilliant and affordable, and the food was super tasty. The meat was a bit tough, but still delicious.

We had a fantastic evening at this restaurant! We started with the unique appetizers, Arrosticini and a Crostone, which were truly delicious. The main courses were equally impressive: artichoke sausage pasta and tagliata di manzo with truffle. Truly delicious! If you're looking for authentic, traditional Italian cuisine that goes beyond the classic pasta pesto or bolognese, this restaurant is definitely recommended!

Located in a residential area, it's not the kind of place you'd normally think of going. But you'd be wrong! The food is delicious, and the service is very friendly and pleasant. You'll leave happy after a great time.

Finally, an Italian restaurant without pizza or just pasta, but with a real Italian dinner: antipasto, pasta, primi, and dolce! All of excellent quality! With delicious wines. Served by attentive, friendly staff. A bit noisy when it's full. And that's in Noord... a 6-minute walk from the ferry... wow!!

Super disappointed! This place does not serve pizza anymore, which was the best. We always came from the center to Noord to eat the nduja pizza, where to our surprise, this place turned into a sub-par pasta restaurant. Nothing special anymore and they changed the menu for no reason. Sadly enough, won’t be coming here anymore. RIP best pizza in Amsterdam.

Wanted to give 1 star - but out of respect this is the verdict. If you want good pasta potions that is tasty and soft with a high probability that there is decent amounts of meat (not an italian roulette) then look elsewhere.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam! Even though they don't serve pizzas anymore, their menu is great, I can really recommend the Carmelle 'dello chef' ripiene di pistacchio e limone!

We've been here many times, and the food is always excellent. The staff is always friendly, but also honest, and if something is too much, they'll always let you know. We always enjoy our meal here.

Well, I align with all the other reviews thinking deleting one of the best pizzas in town is a bad idea. Our experience wasn't the same as always and we decided to skip Il Pecorino in the future. We've been clients from before the renovation, we've been clients during the Wilhelmina period and regular in the new restaurant. Thanks for all these years. Best, Daniel.

Delicious food, nice decor, and friendly staff. Unfortunately, it's always very noisy and quite expensive for pasta.

The pulpo carpatio tasted like nothing, and the large salad was limp with only tomato dressing. Melanzane was delicious. Good service.

It was just awful, I will never come to this place again. After all, at first we waited for them to find us a place, and the most important thing is that we saw that people had already left and we could have taken it! But they didn’t tell us anything and when we asked again, they said that they were no longer working! Excuse me, what is this called?

Unfortunately,we could try anything. Waiters we not friendly at all.Firstly, they said us that they don’t have space,so we can sit for the special tables where we can order drinks. We were waiting for someone to order drinks ,at least,but nobody came. Then we asked if we can already order drinks and food,cause we saw 3 free tables in area where everyone eaten. And a waiter said that they “don’t take new people” only people who have reservations. It’s okay if they don’t have place, it was not okay to ask us to wait and then reject us.

Super yummy food, can't wait to go back

I recently had dinner at Il Pecorino and my experience was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. We began with a burrata served over sautéed spinaches, roasted cherry tomatoes and a slice of toasted bread. The presentation was inviting and the flavors even more so: the burrata was luxuriously creamy, pairing beautifully with the delicate bitterness of the greens and the sweetness of the tomatoes. The crunchy toast added a final touch of texture, making it a perfectly balanced starter. For the first course, I chose a classic gricia. The pasta was cooked to perfection, enveloped in a creamy, silky sauce made from cheese and a hint of black pepper. The guanciale was crisp on the outside yet meltingly tender inside, adding richness and depth to every bite. The orecchiette with cherry tomatoes and leafy greens was another highlight of the evening. The dish was vibrant both in appearance and flavor, with the pasta carrying just the right bite. The tomatoes burst with sweetness, while the greens added a pleasant freshness. Service was attentive and friendly. A special mention must go to Tanya and Andreas, the owners, whose warmth and genuine kindness made the evening truly memorable. Their hospitality added a personal touch that made us feel like welcomed guests rather than just customers. Overall Il Pecorino exceeded expectations with its authentic cuisine and heartfelt atmosphere. We already know we’ll be back here in 2027 😜

(If I could, I'd give it many more stars!) We discovered this restaurant almost by chance, and it was one of the best experiences of our Amsterdam vacation. The food is authentic, delicious, and truly home-cooked: pasta and quality ingredients that instantly transport you to Italy. The staff is exquisite, extremely kind, and always smiling, and the location is meticulously designed, with a pleasant atmosphere, thanks in part to the music. A special thanks goes to the owners, who not only welcomed us warmly but also recommended many things to see in the city: a conversation that made us feel more like friends than customers. I absolutely recommend this place to everyone, especially Italians who miss real Italian cuisine. It was like finding a little piece of home here in Amsterdam. ❤️

A fantastic experience from start to finish! It's not often you find an Italian restaurant abroad where you feel truly welcomed and pampered. In a previous post the owner accused me of being unfair and angry with my latest review, because I couldn’t get my beloved pizza anymore. ABSOLUTELY NOT !!! I totally accept the fact that you can make your own business decisions by taking your number one item, your pizza, completely off the menu. I came back one more time to give you another opportunity to serve me with the choice of your Italian dishes. The result? As bad as a week ago, and of course we mentioned it to your staff. It’s not about the pizza, it’s about the dishes on your menu and how they taste… Am I angry ? No, just being honest ☺️

Unfortunately a lot of people do not have a very good understanding of Italian food and its amazing variaties. Il Pecorino serves you the excellence of Italy with pride and amazing skill and friendly service. Will be back monthly! One of those little spots of happiness.

The perfect recipe of losing loyal customers !! One might think that if you stop selling your number one favorite dish, which was by far the delicious and famous pizza, you will replace it with something better? That’s where the disappointment starts. You could have kept the pizza on the menu and offer additional dishes ?? No, instead you wanted to get rid off your favorite pizza. The pasta dishes we had were quite tasteless with a watery sauce. Really nothing to brag about it. We now have to find another place to call our favorite Italian restaurant in Amsterdam Noord. By the way, service and atmosphere are still wonderful !! It‘s just the food, which should be key for any restaurant.

Great place. No more pizzas since May 1st, but delicious traditional Italian trattoria dishes.

Apparently there’s new owners. Honestly this place used to my favorite little spot in Noord. But they don’t serve pizza anymore which was the best ???? It was traditional Napoli pizza. SO DISAPPOINTING. I settled for the lasagna which was decent, but the others that I was with didn’t enjoy - the portions were extremely small and no flavor at all. The menu options are terrible. Service was fine but when we asked what happened to the pizza they were just like “idk” and super cold. I also think it's interesting / shady with how they still use the same restaurant name and interior style too, when the staff and menu is completely changed. They should use a completely different name if they're going to change the restaurant so much. Not coming back here. I’m so shocked.

What happened to this place? I see many people complain about the pizza, but please let's forget about it, there are many other pizza places. What I find shocking is how much worse the menu' choices, the quality of the food, and the management became. I ordered an orata in crosta. I guess you guys have not even seen a picture of what it should look like? They brought me an orata al cartoccio (cooked in kitchen paper), with boiled potatoes over it and a couple of cherry tomatoes for some reason. There was no crust (as to get that you need to cook it without the cartoccio, it is supposed to be crunchy, not boiled), and there were potatoes also on the bottom, under the skin??? Then as side I ordered oven potatoes, which were dry and soft (they just seemed boiled and covered in herbs). I honestly doubt they ever saw an oven. I also had a "frittura di pesce", which included for some reason 5 shrimp heads (yes just heads - why would you fry that???). The food (besides the fried fish) arrived 1.5 hours after we arrived there. People around us were also waiting and the restaurant was not even that busy. Nobody said sorry for that, until I complained at the end. About prices and portions, they were the same before but at least before it was worth it. The place was great, what happened to you? I wish the pizza was the problem.

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing; the food was not good, expensive, and we had to wait over an hour and a half for it to be served. Really poor service. We used to be regulars (and not just for the pizzas...), but we won't be back now.

We had a wonderful meal here in a cozy atmosphere. The food was delicious, and most of the staff were friendly and welcoming. A truly lovely place to be! Unfortunately, there was one moment that somewhat detracted from the experience. When I politely mentioned that something was missing from my plate (compared to the same dish served by my dining companion), I was treated rather rudely. Instead of a simple solution or understanding, I received a condescending response that ingredients "aren't counted per plate" and a rather curt response. That was a shame—such a small effort could have made a huge difference in the customer experience. Fortunately, the rest of the evening and the company made up for it. But hopefully, this is taken to heart, as it detracts from an otherwise very positive experience.

It looks very good and I’m sure I will eat well, but please notice that they are NO pizzeria anymore, they do not have pizzas on the menu anymore.

Great food. The outdoor seating was nice, but a little noisy. I can't comment on the indoor seating. Both of my companions and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

No more pizza! Small portions of overly hard pasta for around 20 euros. Not that special. The staff was nice but not trained. The "boss" openly criticized the staff. Disappointment... Really overpriced, too.

Unfortunately, they removed Pizzas from the menu. We tried the other pasta and fish dishes but they were bland and not comparable to the amazing pizzas they used to serve.

What a lovely place this is! We landed at Chichetterria, the charming Venetian tapas bar that has opened next to the restaurant. Delicious Italian wines (also good non-alcoholic sparkling wine!), tasty snacks that also look fantastic, and super friendly service! It's really cool to take pizza off the menu and focus on gourmet Italian food. Highly recommended for a cozy summer drink!

Portions too small and way overpriced... The staff is nice. That was NEVER 140 grams of linguine. We had spaghetti at another restaurant. This portion was almost twice as large. By the way, the final comment from your employee was, in retrospect, cheeky. Sending us somewhere else to get cheaper dessert. Yes, the bill was lower, the rest was an undeserved tip.

The restaurant has a warm and comfortable atmosphere, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, which made for a pleasant dining experience. The roasted pork was a standout — incredibly juicy with perfectly crispy skin. It was quite satisfying. However, the seafood dish was a bit underwhelming. It lacked flavor on its own and relied heavily on a splash of lemon juice to add any taste. I asked if they had ketchup or a cream-based sauce to enhance the dish, but surprisingly, they didn’t offer either. It’s a bit odd for a restaurant not to have basic condiments like ketchup.

Two people paid 110 euros for a pasta starter and three beers. The portions are so small that you leave just as hungry as you arrived.

A nice Italian restaurant. You will be helped by staff with a passion. A passion for Italian cuisine and a passion to introduce customers to it. And that is something different than eating pizza. We enjoyed it and will definitely come back. It is highly recommended. So people, make a reservation.

Great spot, love the Trattoria, but the new little bar of Il Pecorino La Cicchiteria is awesome! It just opend. We had a lovely evening here with great Italian snacks and fantastic cocktails and prosecco. Service is so kind! Best spot in Amsterdam Noord (nice terrace) for a summer drink or better: Italian aperitivo! We will come again!

An atmospheric place where you immediately feel like you are in Italy, with fine Italian wines, champagne, delicious snacks and a relaxed, warm atmosphere. Extra nice: they also serve surprisingly tasty non-alcoholic wines and champagne 🍾perfect for those who want to drink something different, without compromising on taste or experience. Thanks to Hilde (grazie!) we came here with our VrouMiBo group and what a great evening we had! The service was friendly and personal, the food delicious and the ambiance perfect for an evening with friends. An absolute must for those who love la dolce vita in Amsterdam & Italian🫶 We will definitely be back!

Il Pecorino is a super cozy and hospitable restaurant with delicious dishes and a beautiful terrace. We come here regularly for dinner and we are very enthusiastic about the new menu: even more choice from the Italian kitchen! Tanya, Simos and the others make every visit a party!

We had a wonderful meal at the Cichetteria of Il Pecorino. All different snacks from Venice. The service is very friendly, adequate and fast. We sat on the terrace the whole evening and every time something delicious came. It looked beautifully cared for and the quality was delicious. I have known Il Pecorino for a long time, and it is an asset that the Cichetteria is there now. But if you fancy dishes, that is also possible. But something different and certainly just as tasty is also nice. There are plenty of pizzerias. Next time we will eat there again with our team. Speech therapy practice Oud Noord.

Dear Il Pecorino, would you please consider putting pizzas back on the menu? I came back to eat yesterday and I was very confused that there are no pizzas on the menu anymore. Your pizzas were great and you were one of my favorite places for an uncomplicated, cozy and tasty bite to eat in an authentic setting. I'm sure I'm not the only one, and neither are you ;-) I wasn't impressed with my meat dish; it clearly didn't show much passion or creativity compared to the price, but my company's pasta was good. However, I don't think many people come for your pastas, especially not the people in the north like me who are mainly fans of your pizzas. Anyway, the moment pizzas are back on the menu is the moment I'll come back. For people who don't feel like pizza, this is still a great place for a bite - I think

Had a good meal at il Pecorino, also fast service and that was good because we had limited time. The porchetta was tasty but could have been a bit juicier. The trattoria really comes across as Italian, keep in mind that the portions of primo and secundo are matched in size. It will be full early in the evening, so reservations are recommended.

Ordered spaghetti de nero. Unfortunately I found it below par. The mussels and vongole were hard to find. I find the price-quality ratio out of balance. Also ordered lasagna. 1 part of the lasagna was without minced meat. The service was great. The atmosphere was cozy!

Super nice restaurant to enjoy delicious authentic Italian food! Recently you can now enjoy the real Venetian Cicchetti here. Venetian 'tapas'. A cozy wine bar has been created where you can enjoy these delicacies with a glass of good wine. And then on to the restaurant to enjoy a delicious pasta or, like us, the porchetta with the excellent fried potatoes. To finish with a real Italian coffee and a glass of Limoncello. All this in a cozy relaxed atmosphere where the hostess Tanja plays the biggest role. She makes you feel 'at home' and takes the time for every guest to have a chat, to give advice or to have a good laugh. An absolute must!

Good vibes, friendly and attentive staff, and a menu which was very much to our liking. Enjoyed the antipasto Italiano. The lasagna was okay and the staff recommended gnocchi with truffles sauce was also okay. Desserts were enjoyable. On balance, a solid 4 out of 5 rating.

Be aware that the menu has changed! With that the prices went up quite a bit. Food was great but we did not expect this.

The new menu is simply awful. They don't serve pizza anymore and the pastas are tasteless, expensive and the portions are super small. We ordered the salmon pistachio pasta and we could barely see any salmon in it, and the pasta and its paste was super dry. We had to go grab fast food after our dinner since we were still so hungry. As long as this menu is around, we won't go there again.

Just bad. Zero service, ZERO quality and still expensive

A new menu so time to visit Il Pecorino again. All the pizzas are gone, but what has replaced them is more than worth it. Mouth-watering pasta and meat dishes, as well as vegetarian dishes, are well represented. As always, the Antipasto per due, nice selection of Italian meats, buffalo mozzarella, cheese and bread and the main course the porchetta. Suckling pig roulade with Italian herbs from the wood-fired oven, served with rosemary potatoes. Awesome!!! My table companion went for the Tagliata di Manzo alla Toscana, thinly sliced ​​rib-eye with tomatoes, Gran Padano and balsamic vinegar and there was nothing to complain about there either. Desserts were the tiramisu (always good) and I had a ricotta with pear tart. Fresh, sweet (but not too sweet) and not too heavy. Nothing but praise for the service, the enthusiasm regarding the new menu is clearly evident. We will definitely come back to taste more of the new menu. All in all, more than successful.

Nice Italian-themed place. Service was smooth and friendly. All drinks are of Italian origin, whether wine or soft drinks, which is fun to discover. Bruschetta's were served simply and quickly, but we did ask to wait for the pizzas because we had the feeling that the pizzas would arrive quickly. They were just okay. Overall satisfied.

Frankly ? We entered the restaurant last night not knowing that we had to reserve in advance for 4 people...it was 7:30 p.m.... We reserved immediately for the next evening at 8 p.m. As soon as we arrived today at 8:05 p.m. the hostess who is perhaps the boss informed us that we would only have pizza for 4. We were surprised and explained to us that the pizzeria restaurant was going to close and no longer make pizzas and would only turn into a trattoria. That Neapolitan pizza dough has to rest for 48 hours and they don't have enough pizza dough to go around. So we had to order only two pizzas and pasta dishes. The 2 pizzas were good, the pasta was also good but we never heard that there were pizza restrictions when entering a pizzeria. I am informed that someone supposedly left me a message on my phone that I never received... in short... it's a shame because we could have given you a good rating for your kitchen and your decoration. The reception, however, still needs to be improved...you may do better with your new trattoria without pizzas...or you will lose customers as you go along... If you like Italy and its customs you should also know that it is customary to offer a limoncello or an amaretto at the end of the meal...but hey....

Price/quality far below par. Served portions of pasta minimal. Not very tasty. This eatery is a thriving goldmine for the owner. But for me as a customer no reason to return.

At the start we were told that the pizzas would take 45 minutes. Partly for that reason we ordered starters. These were tasty but also very expensive. It doesn't amount to much in terms of quantity. You can skip the basket of bread (pizza dough?) with a bowl of olives next to it. That's not special. The wine is served in small wine glasses at €6 per glass. The pizzas were a disappointment and in my opinion really not OK: too much dough (thick edge) but above all too burnt. I find it a miracle that they were served and put down without them. Not only were there visibly burnt pieces on it, there was also burnt flour on the bottom of the pizza. The taste was therefore negatively affected: burnt food, even partially, is simply not tasty. All in all not recommended. Due to the delay with the pizzas, we didn't feel like saying anything about it. For the money we spent, you can get better food in many other places in Amsterdam without this aftertaste.
