Nice atmosphere and good service but the meat was overcooked and the fish was dry and the price was high for what we got. The tapas were pretty good.

We didn't eat, we just went in for a beer to celebrate being Spanish. A Spanish girl served us, and she was very kind and friendly. We had a great time; there's a tabletop fireplace, and it has two floors decorated with Spanish posters for olive oil, wine, etc. The price wasn't bad considering what else is there. The alcohol was fantastic.

Excellent tapas and outstanding service! Every dish we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made for a wonderful dining experience. If you’re looking for a great place for tapas in Amsterdam, Castillo Tapas y Steaks is definitely worth a visit!

WOW!!!! Not only is the food INCREDIBLE…the staff are the kindest souls we have ever met!! We were a group of 7 ( 5 adults and 2 children under 2) and honestly the staff couldn’t do enough! They were so kind with my son and niece, and so patient with them! The mixed grill…oh my god I am going to be dreaming about that forever!!!! Thank you so much for such an incredible night and dinner!!!

The staff were friendly, but unfortunately the food and overall experience fell well below expectations. For example, we ordered the bread with garlic butter and were served what appeared to be a sandwich bun with margarine instead. Our meal was also interrupted by an individual who approached our table, and repeatedly solicited us. Staff later acknowledged this was a known individual who has caused issues for customers in the past, yet no one intervened and we were left to deal with the situation ourselves.

A pleasant surprise during our visit to Amsterdam, we ate very well and met a very kind and friendly compatriot, Gabriel (the "chicha" hehe).

The food was okay, but a tourist trap. The fajitas were expensive, with a good amount of meat but clearly not enough raw vegetables. We asked for more, and the waiter said he'd see what he could do. He came back saying it was fine and then added them as an extra €9. The same went for the sauces, which were all extra. The card machine didn't work; after several attempts and multiple cards, we had to pay in cash.

Delicious food, great service, fantastic atmosphere. We would definitely come back on our next trip to Amsterdam.

The restaurant has a Spanish flag, but it's actually a very strange mix of food (Mexican, Argentinian, and Spanish). We ordered paella, the worst paella I've ever had. The ribeye steak was okay, but overcooked for my taste. I don't recommend this place.

The tapas were poor quality and very small for the price. The place is very expensive and the quality is terrible. The waitress was very friendly and helpful, but I wouldn't recommend it if you want a meal or a snack. I would never go back to this place.

I can recommend this restaurant, it's very tasty and unusual. We had a good meal. The service was superb! Bravo 🫶🏻 The only thing I didn't like was the atmosphere, it was like sitting in a cellar, not cozy. But overall, if you want a tasty meal, I recommend it. The owner was very kind to us.

The friendliness of the staff was amazing. I have had tapas many times and this was by far the best I've had. The lovely ambience and from start to finish, this has been a wonderful experience. We can only thank the staff here for a wonderful evening my partner and I have had. Thank you again and we will be back when we come back to Amsterdam.

A wonderful place for a great dinner if you're in the center of Amsterdam. It's a quiet and cozy spot with a delicious menu and super tasty, home-style food. Super central yet away from all the city noise. The staff is wonderful and efficient. 100000/10.

Delicious food and friendly staff

The food was really delicious, the service was fast and friendly, and the music and decor created a nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

I ordered a medium-rare steak, but it was served rare 1.5 hours after I placed my order. It was also very tough and difficult to chew. The restrooms were incredibly dirty. Since we were near the door, we were constantly exposed to arguments between customers who came in with social deal and were turned away at the door.

I didn’t realise tapas meant tiny portions of disappointment. The only thing authentically Spanish here was my regret. I’ve had more flavour from airport WiFi. The padrón peppers arrived looking like they’d lost the will to live somewhere between the fryer and the plate, glistening not with olive oil but with resignation. Garlic was technically present, emotionally absent. The octopus appeared diced into pieces so small it felt less like a dish and more like a crime scene reconstruction, scattered over shredded lettuce as if someone panicked halfway through plating. I genuinely wasn’t sure whether to eat it or brush it off the table. Then came the bacon-wrapped bites, lined up with the solemnity of catering at a provincial conference. Perfectly edible, entirely forgettable, and about as Spanish as a motorway service station. Even the pan con tomate managed the remarkable feat of making bread, tomato and olive oil taste like an administrative decision. Credit where it’s due. The service was warm and the waitress excellent. Which only makes the experience more confusing, because the location and ambience suggest this should be an easy success. Instead, it feels like a restaurant that remembers Spain vaguely, the way someone remembers a holiday they mostly spent at the hotel buffet. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

I ordered steak but they served rare and fat

The food is good, but the service is extremely slow.

We booked through Social Deal, and unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. Upon arrival, we were informed that we had to wait for the owner. When he came downstairs, he explained that he had told Social Deal that the offer wasn't valid today and that we had to cancel our reservation. He said we would then get a full refund. When I indicated that if we couldn't stay, I would want an immediate refund, he couldn't guarantee it. He said he felt sorry for us and that we could therefore sit down anyway. However, after five minutes, he returned to inform us that we could only stay for 1.5 hours because the table was reserved. We found this very strange, since we had also paid for drinks. It's truly ridiculous to be treated this way after a paid reservation. When we went outside for a smoke, it seemed as if the owner immediately wanted to give our table to someone else. This feeling strongly left us with the impression that we were only seen as a nuisance. We were treated like we were worthless, just to maybe earn a few extra euros. Our order was taken immediately, while the people next to us were given plenty of time to make their choice. Then, for an hour and a half, we were completely forgotten. When we finally asked if we were getting our food, it was served... but it was COLD. We absolutely do not recommend this place. The way we were treated was truly scandalous and disrespectful. The only positive note of the evening was the waiter, Gabriel, who did his best to brighten the mood.

Food was decent to good, so you could eat here for a fair price, BUT the personal and the atmosphere will creep you out. We were being stared at and stressed out. Also music was way too loud Would not recommend.

I so wanted to like this place, but I don't think their strength is tapas. The 'Argentine' empanadas were made with bread dough, too thick, no crumble, true Argentine empanadas are flacky, this was fried bread. The cheese crockets, although relatively tasty, were really not filled with cheese. The manchego and the iberico ham was great, but that's only slicing.

You won’t find great food, basic recipes with barely the flavour profiles you would get from a proper Spanish place

Just had a fantastic fillet steak. Really high quality meat, cooked rear and to perfection. Staff were very friendly and I personally loved their choice of music.

The atmosphere was really cool. Ezequiel, the guy who served us, was very nice and patient.

Love this place for Tapas and drinks. Gabriel is super friendly and accommodating. Our favorite server in Amsterdam. The olives are great and the jamon iberico is melt in your mouth good. Had it twice. Shrimp was also delicious. Cant wait to try a steak next. Definitely recommend. Will return.

Best café in Amsterdam center the staff are super nice

My husband and I stopped in here for an early dinner while on a trip from the US. We were met with wonderful hospitality when we sat down. I ordered the Salmón a la Parilla, him the Tango Plato, both from the Platos Completos portion of the menu. We’re both snobs respectively of salmon and steak and completely LOVED our meals. I wish I had taken pictures to share them. He said the steaks were just a bit overdone but the flavor outweighed it to where that didn’t matter. The salmon was flaky and buttery with a wonderful chimichurri on top. I would definitely recommend!

Really comfortable hispanic restaurant. The staff was authentic hispanic and the food was really good. I can recommend the Paella and selfmade sangria. At this combo you will spend about 25,00 € per Person for a great service kind staff and good food.

The first clue make me run away from this “Spanish” restaurant … Entradas ????? ENTRANTES!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 This happens in 2025… They don’t even care to write properly Spanish and all the menu it’s from South America… though in Europe they knew the difference between America and Europe but looks like they not…. The meat was good. Unfortunately, the experience was negative. Ultimately, we were disappointed with the service and the staff: they asked us to pay one price first, then another. So, we paid the indicated amount, and then, as we left, they asked our friend to pay €50 more (the bill had already been paid). We asked for an explanation, but realized they were pulling our leg, so we left; the situation wasn't pleasant! Not recommended!

Heel vriendelijke bediening. Tapas en wijn besteld, niet heel verrassend, maar gewoon in orde. Ligt aan de looproute naar het Rembrandtplein, dus leuk terras als je mensen wil kijken.

For German tourists, unfortunately a scam... The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is great, but the prices are unfortunately far too high and the portions far too small. The meat could easily be made at home. The salad is a tiny dollop, like a teaspoon. So, in any case, there are better restaurants in Amsterdam. Not recommended! Steak €22

We had delicious tapas here. The dishes are tasty but too salty for my taste. The service has a heart for his work and is very attentive. A nice cosy restaurant to visit again.

This was a random drop in. The service was excellent from the moment we walked towards the door. The menu is solid. We had the salmon and chicken. Excellent. Give it a go.

Very good experience, much better than the other steak restaurants on the street which seemed to be a little stingy with the rations. We had the entrecôte and the ribs and chicken mix with fries and potatoes and it was excellent! Review: great eater, good value for money.

The atmosphere and staff are very nice, the waiter at the door speaks many languages ​​and very well, but the mahou was a liquid remotely similar to beer, and the prices were exaggerated.

My husband and I are staying at the NH across the street and this was a perfect walk. What a cozy place! We walked in and got the little corner table. The keeper took care of us and was so friendly and welcoming. The drinks were tasty (margaritas) and the variety of the menu was nice. The garlic mushrooms and garlic shrimp were phenomenal. Also liked the Cheese croquettes. And the star of the show was the 450g steak my husband got that he loved. If it wasnt late in the evening we probably would have stayed longer for more drinks and dessert. Such a great spot.

The food was great! We had tomato soup and empanandas as starters and the fajitas for 2 as main courses. Absolutely great!! The service was also very friendly and helpful and the food came quickly. I would recommend it to everyone🤩

It's a pretty small place on a very lively street, but the fajita was amazing, the server was soso nice and it was all and all just great. we really loved it and would and will recommend!

We were looking for a tapas restaurant and found this place randomly on maps. We had some Chorizo and onion rings as starters and ordered the Fachita Mix for two. The food was seasoned just right and was served quickly and hot. The waiters were really friendly too. We had an overall great dinner and would highly recommend going here for something nice to eat.

Nice little restaurant, good food and very friendly staff. The restaurant is close to Rembrandtplein, where we first had a drink and then had a good steak.

Food not great at all. The garlic bread was a sliced baguette with garlic 'something' (margarine) separate. Cheese croquettes were blue cheese? Not stated. Tomato bread tasted odd as did the chicken in tomato sauce. Everything was tepid. Owner very nice and friendly but would NOT recommend the food sadly.

Ok first off for tapas the prices are immaculate. I was able to eat 6 plates, 2 glasses of wine for €50. The service was great but the best part was the food. I honestly recommend this place for anyone in the area. I will be back next time I visit Amsterdam.
