The food was delicious, and the staff was so friendly. She sang along to the birthday song. A sweet, cheerful lady. We had a wonderful time again. ♡

Nice ambient, good service and decent tapas, they were fast bringing the food, which was good but nothing spectacular. I really appreciated the variety of Spanish beers.

Since moving to Amsterdam, Duende had been one of my favorite places. I went a couple of times a year and always got good quality food, great flavor, and friendly service. Last Friday, I went without a reservation for drinks and a bite to eat with friends. We sat outside (which I don't mind) but waited over 40 minutes for our food. Then a member of the staff told me that the food was in the kitchen waiting and no one had brought it. However, my bad review is due to the loss of the flavor that had made me want to come back: - Tomato bread: quite good, no complaints. Calamari: dry and, in my opinion, from a bag. Galician-style octopus (the disappointment of the night): it was my dish of choice every time I came, and I found two octopus skewers. The octopus was quite chewy.

I've been to this place twice and we love the vibe and the food. It's a pleasant atmosphere, and the tapas are delicious and generously portioned. It's good for small or large groups; last time there were eight of us, and we all enjoyed the place and the food, and we had a great time chatting happily.

I've eaten here probably 100 times with my family, and every time the food, service, and atmosphere are top-notch! Highly recommended.

Such a great place! Piece of Spain in Amsterdam. The flamenco shows are great. The setting is a really spanish and the dancers are fabulous. Food is really good and the personel is amazingly kind. The food was incredibly delicious; everything arrived quickly but not all at once, allowing you to enjoy everything. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was very pleasant—not too fancy, but also clean and inviting. 100% recommended.

The quality/price of the food is one of the best I found in Netherlands and the people working there is really nice and efficient (it's difficult to find it in Netherlands sometimes). While listening to beautiful flamenco guitar playing, we ate some delicious tapas, drank some nice wine and enjoyed the atmosphere in this small theater.

A wonderful place for some Spanish tapas. The menu is extensive with many delicious options at a reasonable price. Personally, I found the sangria a bit lacking in flavor, but the food was well-seasoned. The chicken thigh was perfectly seasoned and very tender, the prawns were tasty and in a good portion, and the Serrano ham was also delicious. The atmosphere was very lively and trendy, and the service was friendly, although I can imagine that if it's very busy and you want to order frequently, it can be difficult to get the server's attention quickly. All in all, highly recommended, and we will definitely be back!

We went to this place at the almost end of the shift/kitchen, but they were so gentle even with a busy night. The food is “calientita” and it feels like home. The staff was cheerful. One of the bests tapas of Amsterdam.

A super cozy tapas bar with exceptionally friendly staff. I was served by Alex and Fior, and it felt like I was eating at my cousins' table; I almost didn't want to go home. Their ceviche was a feast for my taste buds. Definitely recommended.

Probably, but very difficult to prove. We got a mild case of food poisoning. A few hours after dinner, my wife got diarrhea, and I did the next morning. Sardines and shrimp??????🙄

Worst restaurant and service ever…. Waitress took our order and made us wait 45 minutes only to tell us that she forgot to put our entire order through to the kitchen, after the kitchen closed! Don’t waste your time here and get quality food elsewhere.

Used to be a great Tapas place - but not anymore. Yesterday it took over an hour to get drinks, the waiter forgot half our order multiple times. The food also went down in quality with half cold albóndigas and the absolutely tiniest portion of patatas bravas I have ever seen.

Overall dining at Duende is an amazing experience - the staff is great and the foods even better. I went here twice during my stay in Amsterdam and can say everything I tried was amazing. The dates with bacon, ceviche, and ropa vieja were definitely my favorites but everything from the boquerones to queso frito was top tier. And to top it all off I’d definitely recommend their orange dessert. The restaurant also has some solid sherrys the house sangria is worth a try, or if you just want a glass of white the wine list pairs very well with their menu. And of course, the staff is very attentive and helpful. If you’re in Amsterdam and looking for some flavors of Spain I can’t recommend Duende Tapas Bar enough

A good place to take a break and have something to eat

Friday afternoon drinks with ladies from Harderwijk, taken out into the city like a true Amsterdammer. They loved the atmosphere and location. The two Danes enjoyed their meal. The ratings are also based on their opinions. Personally, I just speak Dutch when I order.

One of the worst experiences in Amsterdam if to talk about service. This arrogant and unpleasant waitress messed up all the orders several times and for some reason acted as if it was our fault. The food was good but the portion size doesn't correspond to the price even though it's a tapas bar. Never back again just because there are many far better places.

We were a family of 4 (kids 7 and 5) and the food and ambiance was perfect. There were young folks, older folks, it was ideal. Service was excellent and the food was quite delicious. My 5 year old ate for the first time a croquette.

Food was fine. Portions are small, even by tapas standards. Service was slow and disconnected - it took 15 minutes just to order a drink. Too expensive for the experience we had. Won’t go back.

Everything was excellent, a highly recommended place. My daughter celebrated her 18th birthday with 22 guests and everyone was delighted.

I hadn't been here for years, to one of the oldest tapas bars in the Netherlands. But the good memories of the coziness and the delicious food came back immediately. Much is still exactly as it used to be and that feels familiar. As soon as the first tapas plates are on the table, you immediately feel like you're in Spain. Most dishes were very good, although here and there a little improvement is possible. The Spanish orange filled with orange ice cream was a perfect ending 🍨🍊😋. The location is great - and when the weather is nice you can taste the atmosphere on the terrace even better

Highly recommended! Authentic tapas at a reasonable price in a quieter Jordaan location. We got there at opening to avoid busier later hours and had a lovely meal of boquerones & calamari fritos, champignions al ajillo, tortilla de patatas, crema catalana with wine and sangria. Would return in a heartbeat!

Such a beautiful and charming restaurant. We ate outside on the terrace and enjoyed beers and incredible food while watching the world go by. The calamari was served with a fresh pesto and was delicious. The bacon wrapped dates were life-changing! Chorizo arrived in bubbling and mouthwatering oil - great for dipping bread into! I think the wait staff were new as service was a bit slow and forgetful, but we all start somewhere. Very grateful to the whole Duende team for a great night.

Specially waited on another terrace until it opened. Interested in going there for dinner, but because of my PTSD and the fact that I have an assistance dog, I wanted to find out if that was possible. There were two people on the terrace and no one else in the restaurant. We asked if we could sit at a table inside by the open window with the two of us so that the assistance dog would not be in the sun. It was a Monday and 28 degrees outside. The employee indicated that it was a table for at least 3 people and only for food and drinks. We had to sit outside. No understanding at all for our situation. While no one was there. Fortunately, people in the land of Flamenco are a lot friendlier and more understanding.

terrible service and terrible food..bunch of jokers people that are serving here. --- response to owners review below who clearly is defensive--- yes i was party of 4 with two kids and sitting in the table inside and was told i will be moved to table outside when available. few mins later i'm told table is available so i carry my drink and food to find out table with TWO chairs. i asked staff can you add chairs or table that was visibly free.. perhaps that was an unreasonable ask to have four chairs for party of 4? he goes and checks with inside manager to come and tell me sorry do with 2 chairs and small table that will not fit your food and perhaps you can use the tall drum table with bar stool thats next to you. take it or leave it. i then move all my food and drink back inside with no option or apologies. its not the fact you didn't or couldn't sit me outside but how it was handled. perhaps when you dine out with your family and have same situation where you are asked to do good with table with 2 chairs you will be okay? thats why its important for me to detail experience how family serving experience was here.

This restaurant was recommended by our Spanish friends, and it exceeded our expectations. The friendly staff and authentic flavors made for a wonderful dining experience. All of the tapas and main dishes were delicious we especially liked their pulpo a la gallega and the paella! Highly recommended if you’re looking for an authentic Spanish restaurant in Amsterdam!

Fantastisco! We love pulpo ala gallega! The live flamenco show is amazing, with the food and drinks. This is my favorite Spanish cafe. My daughter is Spanish and she feels at home here. Home is where the food is!

Beautiful restaurant and delicious food, many different choices on the menu. The only thing that disappointed me was the very small table for 2 people.

Good tapas restaurant, slightly spicy meatballs which not everyone likes. Excellent sangria, generally good value for money. Three of us arrived after 8pm without booking but within half an hour they freed up a table for us.

Very busy (great sign) so the staff were up against it to recycle tables and manage new orders. That said, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere buzzing - on a Sunday night in April when most restaurants were half empty.

Food was okay, was below my standards. Service was okay too, I didn’t like the behavior of one of the waiters - since I was alone and didn’t order drinks.
