Duende Bar Tapas in Jordaan

A very cozy tapas restaurant; it gets quite busy, but even if you haven't made a reservation, they try to find a spot for you. The dishes are delicious, my eyes were bigger than my stomach. It is fairly pricey, but that’s not something to complain about in Amsterdam; the taste and service more than make up for it.

Had a particularly lovely evening at tapas bar Duende. Delicious tapas: shrimp, calamari rings, tapas brava, chicken skewers, tuna, Manchego. All exquisite. With a fitting performance by Marlies with her Sombremesa (after-dinner conversation). Wonderful.

Can be packed during meal time so make sure to reserve a table.

We had the worst experience ever. We went to have a few tapas on my partner's birthday and and it was embarrassing. We had to return a dish because it was a scam what we got on the table and the waitress act so rude instead of apologies we got a long face and bad words. The the owner ask us if everything went well and we complained, again the waitress started to shout at us and slamming things on the table she was setting up. My daughter was ashamed by all attitude of both, owner and waitress. Completely out of order and unprofessional behaviour. What a pity to go to a Spanish bar which are well known because of their warm vibe and find this in return. At least the owner didn't charge us for anything, that's why we did not ask for complaints sheets. Never again

Tasty tapas, plenty of choice, quick service, a bit pricey, but then again, it's Amsterdam so it's busy.

Spanish at its finest! Delicious, truly Spanish-style tapas. In a charming restaurant with wonderful, hardworking staff who are passionate about their work. We've been there several times with a small group, and last night, August 3, 2024, with 10 people, and once again it was phenomenally good and very enjoyable. If you didn't know better, it felt like you were in a restaurant in Spain. Brilliant!!! I plan to go back many more times.

Fake Spanish food with bad service. They use frozen shrimp for the Gambas pil pil. The Russian salad soggy, so bad, we left it as is. The lamb was soggy and chewy. The only tasty dishes were the chicken and the patata bravas. If you want the real thing, try Dunende Dos which is not far from this place. Different level of food.

Delicious tapas! We felt like we were in Spain. The croquetas de jamon iberico are super tasty! The next day we had the gambas pil pil and they were top-notch. Highly recommended 👍🏻

I really liked the food and drink but the tapas were quite overpriced. Payed nearly 40 Euro for one person but still left hungry. It’s more of a full on bar with the tapas as a snack, definitely not as a meal.

The food, as always, was amazing! And it was such a unique experience to be able to eat good food while watching an amazing flamenco performance at such an intimate setting. I definitely recommend it!

Lovely place where we have been eating about 3 times a year for many years; all the tapas are excellent, especially the chicory with blue cheese, all the croquettes, the beef stew, and the ceviche, and all under ten euros. A few delicious wines just above €30 and very friendly tattooed muscle boys serving who seem to spend all their time in the gym. Alex from Cuba is a star. In the summer, it is lovely on the terrace at De Linden. Our favorite.

Amazing restaurant amazing foood!!!!

We had a terrible experience last night. A staff member behind the bar told us we could sit at a table in the back. Not long after, the "boss" (at least that's what he claimed to be) came shouting at us in broken Dutch asking who had given us that table. When we told him who it was, he simply said "no." He had a rambling story about a list and people waiting at the bar, but when he started banging on the table, we just got up. On the way out, he told another couple sitting at a table next to the bar that they could sit there, and told us that we could take the newly vacated table. But I don't want to sit in a restaurant where guests are treated so badly. It is a real shame, considering we used to come by regularly to eat and usually enjoyed ourselves, but after this experience, we will never return. We really wouldn't have minded moving, but when someone comes towards me shouting, contemptuously, and with a downright threatening attitude, I've had enough.

It was a great experience dining in Duende. Packed with patrons, lively yet homey. Excellent service. Food was amazing and we loved gambas and eggplant especially 😋

I've known this place for years and was afraid the quality would have gone downhill, but nothing could be further from the truth: I had top-notch tapas. It's great that they're still so good.

We went there for dinner on a Thursday evening with friends, without a reservation. The food was fantastic and the tapas portions were just right. But what we liked most was the cheerful atmosphere. A very mixed crowd where everyone quickly struck up a conversation with everyone else. The price was also reasonable. We would definitely come back anytime we're in Amsterdam.

Enjoyed a beautiful Flamenco show in an intimate setting with delicious drinks (Sangria!) and delicious tapas. Friendly and attentive service. Highly recommended!!

Highly recommended if you love Spanish cuisine. We ate here with a large group (11 people) and everyone was very satisfied with the food and the service. There is an extensive tapas menu and we tasted many different delicious dishes. The dishes arrived in stages, and that went just right. We didn't have to wait long for the food and drinks.

It's so difficult to find a good Spanish restaurant in the Netherlands. This is the place for you if you're looking for a place where you can eat like you're at home.

A Spanish bar right in the heart of Amsterdam that's definitely worth a visit. The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming, and you can feel the authentic Spanish touch in both the music and the staff's service. We tried several tapas, and they were delicious, especially the toast and the croquettes. They also have a great selection of wines and beers. It's the perfect place to spend a pleasant time with friends or grab a drink after a day exploring the city. We'll definitely be back!

What truly made our night special was the service. Sofia, Luciano, and Anderson took care of us and they were fantastic. They were attentive, kind, and made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. They made sure everything was perfect and created such a warm and friendly atmosphere at our table. Great food is important, but great service makes all the difference — and they absolutely delivered. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended.

I've been to this place twice and we love the vibe and the food. It's a pleasant atmosphere, and the tapas are delicious and generously portioned. It's good for small or large groups; last time there were eight of us, and we all enjoyed the place and the food, and we had a great time chatting happily.

Since moving to Amsterdam, Duende had been one of my favorite places. I went a couple of times a year and always got good quality food, great flavor, and friendly service. Last Friday, I went without a reservation for drinks and a bite to eat with friends. We sat outside (which I don't mind) but waited over 40 minutes for our food. Then a member of the staff told me that the food was in the kitchen waiting and no one had brought it. However, my bad review is due to the loss of the flavor that had made me want to come back: - Tomato bread: quite good, no complaints. Calamari: dry and, in my opinion, from a bag. Galician-style octopus (the disappointment of the night): it was my dish of choice every time I came, and I found two octopus skewers. The octopus was quite chewy.

I've eaten here probably 100 times with my family, and every time the food, service, and atmosphere are top-notch! Highly recommended.

Such a great place! Piece of Spain in Amsterdam. The flamenco shows are great. The setting is a really spanish and the dancers are fabulous. Food is really good and the personel is amazingly kind.
