Ceppi's in De Weteringschans

I booked a month ahead expecting to be seated at a proper table and instead the have put me on the counter facing the pizzeria area. Took the waitress 5 min to get me seated simply because I wasn’t dutch. Since it’s an italian restaurant I expected a proper international welcoming environment but instead the Dutch waitresses were treating non-dutch people extremely rudely. The food was good but the service ruined the whole night. Let’s not even mention how at the end when getting the bill I had to pay 6€ for tap water and when asking for explanation from the waitress all she could say was “I don’t know anything about the prices”, when it’s her job knowing what you’re serving. I found the place to be racist and extremely close-minded. Way too hyped.

We enjoy it always at Ceppi’s they offer great pasta & amazing pizza. The service is lovely always worth the wait 🍝

tiramisu and panna cotta were average. but the ravioli was the best. never had better including the ones i ate in italy

absolutely love! the vibes are so cute and the food is super good quality, my only complaint is that there’s a bit of excessiveness with the oil but love the place!

We had 2 pasta dishes and a pizza between the 2 of us, and the dishes were quite tasty but what let this place down was the service and the cocktails. We both got the same cocktail but it was nearly undrinkable, there was zero flavour other than nail polish remover - €13 each wasted on that. Also we asked if it was okay if we could get tap water, as we know some places in Amsterdam are funny about that, and our waitress said of course and brought us an open bottle of water, which we presumed she filled from the tap - but when the bill came, we saw that we had been charged for a bottle of still water. Most importantly the service and atmosphere of this place was really lacking. From even just entering the restaurant the waitress seemed to have an attitude about her and came across as kind of hostile towards us. It wasn't a particularly busy night so I don't believe it was due to being busy. The whole time she was just really odd and 'direct' in her answers and whenever we finished our meal we both wanted to pay the bill and get out as soon as we could as both just felt uncomfortable being there. Perhaps it was due to being tourists, but I cannot recommend the service or atmosphere of this place

The food was decent—not the best, but still enjoyable. However, the service was very disappointing. We had booked a table months in advance, but due to an unforeseen event, we arrived 30 minutes late. We were told when we arrived that the kitchen was closing at 15:30pm 😅, but that doesn’t excuse the rudeness we were met with. The two female servers working that day seemed visibly annoyed from the moment we walked in. It felt like we were disturbing them just by being there—asking for a Coke or placing our order came across as an inconvenience. Despite the circumstances, their attitude made us feel extremely unwelcome, and it wasn’t even particularly busy. Unfortunately, the poor service really overshadowed the rest of the experience.

Cannot fault the food, service or atmosphere. Went with a large group and we all loved it.

A complete disappointment. We went for dinner around 21:00. Someone we thought was the bartender took our order, for some reason. Exactly 45 minutes later, we said check it out. They brought completely different orders. When we said these are not ours, they said we are sorry, it was a mistake, and offered 2 wines. It is regret.

I was really disappointed with my experience here. The customer service was below expectations. Despite making a reservation in advance and specifically asking not to be seated next to the door, that was the table they gave us. We had to wait 25-30 minutes for another table. When the waitress brought the wine glasses, she didn't even tell us which one was which, which is a basic courtesy you expect from a waiter. Then, there was the issue with the order—my main course arrived before the antipasto, which should have been the other way around. Also, the pizza was burnt as you can see in the pictures. It was a small part that you could eat from it, which was very disappointing given the reviews..When we asked for the bill, the waitress took 20 minutes to check in with us, and even then, we weren't offered anything else. On top of all this, the portion of rigatoni alla vodka was tiny for the price. Far from a great experience overall.

Booked months in advance for 3 people, only to be seated at the smallest 2 person square table, which made us feel we were an afterthought that had to be squeezed in somewhere. The Dutch waitress kept talking English to us, even though we’re Dutch. Every time she came back to the table she‘d start again in English, which is just annoying. The good things were the mocktails and dessert. Everything else was a big bummer… The Nonna Gina pizza was so soaked with tomato sauce that the bottom dissolved. It wasn’t even possible to eat the pizza by hand. We also ordered a Casio e Pepe pasta which was an abysmal small portion which cost €22 (!). All in all we spent almost €50 p.p. for a drink, a pizza and dessert. For the quality of food and service this is absolutely not worth it.

Don’t know if it’s because we have no Dutch but had to ask the waiter 4 times waiting over 40 minutes before he brought our order for drinks. This happened twice. We visited on a week night and I definitely wouldn’t like to experience what kind service there is on a weekend. Rigatoni pasta was also quite hard not al dente, too firm. Location is very hidden with no signage or logo on outside of building. Perhaps we would return to try the pizza as it looked better. We appreciate that the night was busy however for such a commended restaurant we were very surprised with the slow service. Interiors were beautiful.

We had a reservation at 17:00 and finally we got our food at 18:15 after 3 times we notified the staff that there has been such a long time for just a spaghetti and rib eye medium rare. The first time we asked if everything is ok with our food and they used the excuse that spaghetti takes long. After on the second notification they said the food is coming. 15 min later and after asking to cancel the order, the food came. The portion of spaghetti was extremely small and the ruined the rib eye by mixing it with rocket and put cheese on it. One of the worst experience and especially the way they treated us.Totally not worth 85 euros meal.

Best italian food I had so far. Good pasta good pizza you can choose almost anything from the menu and it doesn’t disappoint!

Super tasty, original pizzas. Very nice service and the atmosphere in the kitchen is also very good. We saw how everything was made with care; the fun but also the craftsmanship of the chefs was obvious!

The only question I have for this place is: why is it not possible to contact the restaurant? My sister has been trying to book this place for her birthday for more than a week. Do you think that's normal for a customer service? Either you fire your administrator who can't do his simple job, or you give him instructions what to do while he's working there. Unacceptable behavior for such a restaurant. No way I'll recommend this place to anyone or go there myself.

The starters and appetizers were hot and the pizza was very successful. The atmosphere is very pleasant and cheerful. As in all the Netherlands, the service is slower than in Turkey. However, their prices are much more affordable than ours in terms of price performance. Reservation is a must.

Decent enough meal, server was quite awkward and seemed new to the job, quick serving times. Would recommend going for the pasta options over pizza

Creative Neapolitan pizza's instead of the usuals. Thick fluffy dough. Very nice. The melanzana left a big impression as a compact multilayered brick of aubergine full of flavor. Loved that splash of stracciatella on the side. Very very good dish. Tiramisu went full on hazelnut with both the mascarpone and lots of nuts on the side. Big and heavy. Tasty and new.

We came to eat here for the second time. The staff is very helpful, and we came without a reservation. There was a spot available at the pizza bar, which added a certain charm. Ceppi's is a cozy, attractive restaurant. The food is just tasty, but not necessarily 'wow' or anything like that. Still, it's a nice restaurant to have a date. The burrata is an absolute must.

Seasonal ravioli (pumpkin & sage butter) and Ducale pizza were excellent choices. Everything we ate was extremely delicious🫠🤤 You should definitely try profiterole for dessert.

Incredible and excellent! Exquisite cuisine. The best? Meatballs, burrata and carpaccio. In drinks, the Aperol Spritz is a classic to start.

Don’t usually line italian restaurants but this one was lovely! also their thiramisu tastes nothing like a classic tiramisù but it’s v nice

The atmosphere was nice. However the food was a big disappointment. We ordered the burrata, the texture was very odd. The spicy rigatoni alla vodka was average. Also we ordered the diavola pizza, it was very spicy because of the black pepper. We couldn’t even eat it. Lastly, we ordered the tiramisu, and we couldn’t even call it a tiramisu. Overall, the experience was very mid.

The staff was very friendly and kind. The appetizers and pizza were tasty. However, the main courses were disappointing. They arrived cold and lacked any distinctive flavor. To make matters worse, one of the main dishes was completely forgotten.The cocktails were not very good either. For the quality of the food and drinks, the prices were too high. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. It might be a good place for pizza, but i wouldn’t recommend for a full meal.

We ate a pizza with burrata and walnut sauce. It might be the best and most unique pizza I've ever eaten in my life. It's definitely legendary.

Italian dishes certainly very good and in a very beautiful setting, but quite expensive for the quantity. The dish is swallowed in three minutes (when you've waited thirty minutes it's frustrating) and you don't come away feeling satisfied. The real problem is the service: the waiters seem to get along well, even too much. They are numerous and yet they are very inefficient, slow and more inclined to flirt with customers than to share the work. In short, we advise against it, you can eat Italian better in many places in Amsterdam.

Really delicious pizzas and desserts! Just the pizza with rosemary... it's unique, I've never seen it anywhere else. On the other hand, we were really treated like sub-customers. Never accept the table in the back: - door wide open 10 times under 3 degrees - the trash cans are placed at your feet (it's not a joke) - the other trash cans are behind you with the door open between the smell of bleach and trash cans. ...I don't understand how you can do that in a restaurant

Restaurant discovered thanks to vlogs on the networks. Beautiful place, the food is excellent, fresh products and a nice waitress. The downside? Cold in the restaurant in January but otherwise I recommend 100%

Had to wait a while for our table, no problem. Had reserved a table, but were then placed at the bar. We had to ask all the time to order drinks, staff never once asked if we wanted something to drink or if we wanted a bottle of water at all. Starter was very tasty, but without exaggeration the starter was off the table for 10 seconds and the main course was already there. In our opinion this was very annoying, then having to ask for a drink again. The atmosphere is good, but it is not the place to go out for a nice meal, because you will be outside again within 45 minutes.

A pretty nice place for Italian food. You must make a reservation in advance so we ate at the bar but the waiters make the experience pleasant. Good portions

Great carbonara pasta! I would have preferred them to do it with the traditional rigatoni pasta, like they do in Rome. I saw in the pictures they were doing this before. But now I was served spaghetti. Nonetheless, taste was amazing. Also surprisingly very very good service which is VERY rare in Amsterdam. Also good vitelo tonato! Later edit: I also tried the pizza and is my second best pizza place in Amsterdam. I appreciate the fact that unlike the nr 1 pizza in Amsterdam, I can actually book a table for this week and don't have to book 1 year in advance. The quality is amazing! 👏 I also loved the eggplant parmigiano

Great service and vibe, but price and quality of food are disproportionate. Expensive evening, pizza +/- €25. Little choice in pasta’s, the ones offered are limited in vegetables. Tiramisu not tasty, not the one you used to but made to easily keep for a long time in the fridge. I would recommend more authentic Italians in Amsterdam

Food was top service was very friendly. Quality is great, you can pay cash for one of the better restaurants in Amsterdam.

The place is very cozy, has a nice atmosphere. Food did not disappoint at all. The Vitellio tonnato was excellent. Pizza doe very Italian and pasta cooked al dente. Pancotta for dessert was also very tasty. All in all a very good experience.

Food took more than 45mints to arrive but it was delicious! Don't get tap water because then you'll pay for it (3.50 € per person).

A small hidden gem in Amsterdam! The staff were really kind and we could also interact with the chefs. You could see how your meal was getting prepared which was very cool. Everything we order was delicious and the atmosphere was breathtaking! Worths the visit for sure!

Nice atmosphere and food generally good, but the tiramisu cannot be called tiramisu but more of a plate of mascarpone with some hazelnuts on it... No coffee in sight unfortunately

We arrived at Ceppelis because of the great reviews we’d read but were so extremely disappointed with our visit. The food was okay but the customer service was absolutely horrible. Our waiter was cold and unwelcoming. We even felt uncomfortable because he was so rude to us specifically; whilst offering other customers smiles and small talk. We felt rushed and every time he interacted with us it was truly surprising how unfriendly he was. We were offered a smile from the bartender and a waitress with light eyes but overall WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. The poor treatment and experience took away from the quality of our food, we wanted to finish eating and leave. It was clear that that particular gentleman was not happy serving visitors…

Delicious! The burrata is spot on - actually tasted better than the ones we’ve had in Italy itself. Highly recommend!

Great vibes and service. The food is ok but not great, I would say its clean compared to other restaurants in Amsterdam. The tiramisu is not the usual one you know, its with nuts.

I came here for the second time, however the service was not good. Took really long time for everything. And the carbonara that one year ago was amazing, it’s now average. Sad to see the quality go lower

A lovely restaurant, tucked away on a quiet canal but just a few minutes from a busy area. We hadn't booked but got the last table in the place, with others arriving after us being offered seats at the bar. The food was delicious, we had a pizza and the bolognese. The place was packed, despite it being early evening on a Monday in November so would recommend booking in advance to guarantee a table.

The savory dishes were delicious, but the tiramisu was a big dissapointment, it was just foam, no ladyfingers and coffee, so it cannot be called a tiramisu, there was no tiramisu flavour or anything. The service was great. We loved the Linguine alle vongole, Foccacia with straciatella, Pizza Campagnola, Spaghetti alla carbonara.

One, if not the best Italian place I've been in. There's not much to say other than the food is excellent. This is my second time to Ceppi's and I still can't recommend their signature Pumpkin pizza enough. They have a wide selection of wines and some interesting cocktails. You definitely need to reserve beforehand because this place is full almost any day of the week.

This restaurant was just amazing! The place felt super cosy, the employees were very nice and the food was to die for, I would definitely recommend, especially their Ceppi's Pizza!!!

Staff was unresponsive and slow. We waited for food and then the bill too long. Pastas were not great, the only thing that our group liked is focaccia.

One of my favourite restaurants in Amsterdam, my favourite for sure in Leidseplein! The food and the drinks are top quality, was a dream to enjoy them in a position that can unleash your Instagrammer side. Only one thing to endure, and it happened most of the times I went there, is what we called the Dutch Service: 15 minutes at the door to get the attention of someone to ask for a table, other 10-15 for the waiter to come at the table, then waiting for the order, then waiting for the drinks, and the food.. ok that really good quality takes time, but.. Still, amazing place (hope they don't recognise me next time I go, like "OH LOOK THE ONE THAT DOESN'T WANNA WAIT")

You have to reserve in advance. It has a very good atmosphere. They had a great time and the pizzas looked good.

It was particularly unpalatable. The food I ordered was very salty and basically had no other taste. I had absolutely no desire to come back! ! ! Even after finishing this meal, a large jug of water was not enough. I had to drink a glass of water after every few mouthfuls. The restaurant environment is quite good. The service staff are very enthusiastic towards local customers and will chat with you like friends, making you feel like you are gathering with friends. But the food was really unpalatable. If you just want to chat with someone and don't care about the taste of the food, you can come here. Otherwise, you might as well eat pizza sold in the subway.

The aubergine starter was delicious - it melted in your mouth and was flavorful. Highly recommend. Service for dinner at the bar (because we did not have reservations) was good. The margherita pizza left some to be desired, the sauce was wet and the dough was wimpy or underbaked in the middle

They made us stand there although we had a reservation and we waited for the food for an hour. Such a disappointment, we couldn’t enjoy anything because of the insanely slow service.

I'll start by saying that I'm Italian, so speaking of the food offered by the restaurant, the products are good and fresh, but the margherita, 17 euros each, isn't worth it to me, especially considering that the chef isn't always Italian. I would also add that the service is slow, the place can be chaotic because it is very busy which is positive but the tables are small and crowded together. Furthermore, it happened one evening with an 8.30pm reservation in which the restaurant did not have 3 pastas out of 5 of those they had. I'm just saying that it's absurd that something like this could happen, considering that the menu is neither varied nor abundant in choice. Furthermore, after communicating it they didn't even apologize. Another unpleasant case is that one evening they refused to do a takeaway for a pizza. Given the cost of the venue and the experience that should be guaranteed, improvements should be made.

The best diavola pizza i’ve ever had!

Had an amazing dinner at Ceppi’s. Visiting from Toronto and the pasta blew us away. The staff is amazing, and went above and beyond for a few tables celebrating so you can be sure you’ll be treated well here.
