Very bad restaurant, I do not recommend this place at all. I ordered from here and received a very cold food almost after 2 hours! When it was 1 hour after the order, I called them to ask where is my order and lady who responded said we are very very busy! If you cannot do deliveries why you take orders?! You do realise that people get their money from hard work, right? Where is customer respect? I should wait 2 hours for my order and then receive a very cold food? I just throw it away! Of course I’m not gonna eat this!

Update: 2025 It's been a while since the last review, so it deserves an update. Still a great place to eat burgers, even the "basic" ones are really good. The spareribs are no longer available. My teenage kids are even more endeared to the restaurant than I am, it's on their top 3 of places to go. So, still highly recommended. --- old review 2023 Great place to grab a burger or some spare ribs. Can recommend. Unfortunately Amersfoort is becoming less friendly towards people who do not live in the city, e.g. by making the city centre less accessible to motorists. So travel and parking can be an issue.

What was once great is getting worse. They take orders and then deliver the wrong one. They have better burgers available in Amersfoort now, and I'll definitely recommend them. The burger isn't very tender.

September 14, 2025: On this day, we enjoyed a delicious, dressed-up burger at this fantastic restaurant for a very reasonable price. The burgers were great! The service was excellent. We had a wonderful time sitting in the back garden. Fantastic! If you're in Amersfoort and craving a burger, you absolutely have to go here.

Nestled in the charming medieval streets of Amersfoort, you'll find Charlie's, a burger joint with an American twist. The menu features juicy burgers with catchy names like Dirty Harry, Ring of Fire, Tony Pepperoni, and Charley Davidson. The house sauce, "Bob," makes it all the more special. It's one of those places where photos don't do it justice—you really have to try it for yourself.

One word: amazing You really have to come and eat here.

Nice atmospheric restaurant, friendly staff and the food was really good, definitely worth repeating.

Delicious food at a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and questions are answered thoroughly. The chicken burgers are made with chicken thigh fillet. I personally would have preferred ground beef, but I could easily swap the chicken from the cheesy burger for a lamb burger when ordering. The fries were delicious and crispy, both regular and sweet potato. A lot of salt, though. We sat in a lovely courtyard garden that's not visible from the street, so it seems less inviting than it actually is!

Unfortunately, there are only two vegetarian burgers, both of which are quite expensive. I can understand that some effort was put into the concept, but I miss the option of trying a vegetarian cheeseburger. I had a burger that included a quinoa patty and avocado, but I couldn't taste either of them because the burger was simply very flavorless overall. The six mozzarella sticks, for which I paid seven euros, unfortunately didn't improve my mood. Furthermore, the waitress wasn't very friendly; she didn't thank us for the tip or say goodbye to us, but simply grabbed the money and left.

Unfortunately, both of the vegetarian burgers weren't very flavorful, which is more than disappointing given the rather high price. The mozzarella sticks weren't quite worth the €7 price tag either. The fries were tasty.

Service was so friendly with child and dog. We had a table outside with a nice atmosphere. And last but not least, drinks & food were delicious.

The food itself was great. The male server seemed a bit annoyed. Milkshakes are made in the basement. We sat right by the door, which kept opening. Sometimes it was slammed shut. Not very customer-friendly!

Voor de eerste keer naar dit tentje. Dagje uit met dochterje van 7 jaar. We hadden een broodje zalm en voor mama een glas wijn. Glas wijn kostte zes euro en er werd een klein laagje geserveerd. Ik vroeg op vriendelijke manier of mijn glas wijn misschien normaal ingeschonken kon worden, omdat het wel erg weinig was. Meisje van personeel gaf aan dat dat hun maatjes waren. Ik besloot het erbij te laten om het gezellig te houden. Het broodje werd geserveerd. Normaal belegd met zalm, roomkaas, maar verder alleen een klein beetje tuinkers en een paar blaadjes sla. Karig dus voor die prijs, maar besloot het zo te laten. Ik hield het wederom graag gezellig voor mijn dochtertje. Halverwege het broodje, terwijl ik echt had genipt was het wijntje al leeg. Mijn dochtertje gaf aan nog een een hapje te willen en wat drinken en ik lustte nog wel een glaasje wijn, maar het voelde gek om nog een glas te moeten bestellen wat anders niet nodig was geweest. Ik besloot even naar de bar te lopen en gaf nogmaals rustig aan dat de wijn wel erg weinig was, maar dat ik nog wel een glas wilde bestellen plus nog een hapje als ik nu dan dit maal wél een normaal wijntje kon krijgen. Het meisje van het personeel begon hard door de zaak te antwoorden, waarop ik aangaf of het iets zachter kon, omdat ik het graag onderling wilde oplossen zonder de overige klanten er in te betrekken. In iedergeval besloot ze geen normaal glas in te willen schenken dus gaf ik aan dat we dan liever ons uitje ergens anders voortzetten. We aten ons eten op en liepen naar de kassa om af te rekenen. De eigenaar rekende met ons af en ik gaf aan het jammer te vinden, omdat we graag nog meer hadden besteld en langer hadden willen blijven tijdens ons uitje, maar dat we nu gingen. Hij riep met verheven stem 'dat het goed was dat we gingen omdat 'jullie mijn personeel aan het huilen hebben gemaakt'. Bijzonder als je rustig iets aangeeft en schandalig naar mij toe en vooral erg voor mijn dochtertje. Wij komen nooit meer terug. Daarna naar de buren gegaan, De Kwibus, waar het personeel wél vriendelijk was en we wél normale porties kregen en nog minder betaalden ook.

This is a top place!!! When you walk in, the restaurant looks cozy and homely. The food is super good and you don't have to wait long. And the prices are very reasonable. The staff is super friendly. You will be helped well here. Example: I ordered Andalusian sauce with my dish. To which the waitress replied that the homemade bob sauce is much tastier. If you don't like it, you can still get the Andalusian sauce without extra charge. In short, the way things are done here is great!!!

I visited Charlie's Burger 33 in Amersfoort and had a truly wonderful visit. I was particularly impressed by the cozy courtyard – a real insider tip for relaxing and enjoying the food. I tried the Jamie Oliver burger, and it was simply delicious: juicy, perfectly seasoned, and topped with great ingredients. You can tell the attention to detail here. I'd love to come back! My son says it was his best burger ever. He had the Charly Davidson Burger. I had the Texas BBQ Wrap – which was also excellent. It also came with super delicious baked tortilla chips. The service was attentive and friendly. If we're ever in town again, we'll definitely stop by again.

unfortunately, always had a great meal here but now for the third time I paid for extra toppings that they just don't put on it... there used to be a lot of sauce on the burger, now you have to make do with a small drop. last time, a shame!

La hamburguesa era increíble 🔥, las patatas fritas eran crujientes, buenas recomendaciones de cerveza de la camarera (cerveza IPA - segunda cita) , y mi esposa estaba feliz así que ya sabes lo que eso significaba jajah! Disfrutamos de la comida! Nuestra camarera fue muy servicial también, lástima que no entendí su nombre :/ En general 10 / 10 - una de las mejores hamburguesas en los Países Bajos seguro 👍🏽 Sin duda volveremos!

Burger was amazing 🔥, fries were crispy, nice beer recommendations from the waitress (IPA Beer - second date), and my wife was happy so you know what that meant hahah! We enjoyed the food! Last visited April 2025 Good food and service. The burger was a good choice. Place is rather cosy but managed to go early, so I managed to get a table. Worth s go....

The food was so good, at one point my spirit left my body, and i watched myself in third person, eating the amersfoortse kei burger with closed eyes. A surreal and thoroughly amazing experience, great restaurant!

Ordered burgers. So those are good! One with jalapeño with a delicious smoky taste and one classic with fried egg. I ordered the lettuce in a separate container, but I won't do that next time. Not really necessary and saves on plastic. The fries were deliciously crispy. The shape of the fries ensures the crispiness. They are cut with a kind of curve. Everything was still nice and warm. And delivered quickly. Was the first time I ordered from Charlie. Certainly not the last time!

Ate here twice during a visit to Amersfoort. The first time was pure coincidence, but the second time was a conscious choice because the first time was a success. Super friendly and customer-oriented service and excellent burgers and vegetarian gyozas. Great!

The first time I ate here, everything was good, today we decided to order food with home delivery - the children's version of the burger looks like it fell to the floor 30 times and someone stepped on it. We managed to call the restaurant with information about the situation, but the appetite disappeared along with the appearance of the order. The restaurant offered to make the order again as compensation, which was done correctly this time, although the subsequent waiting time and the bad taste did not serve the purpose of eating the new burger. As a warning, please check your orders more carefully and I am posting a photo of the first burger, the packaging of which also looks like it was taken out of the garbage.

Great citizens, even though I have moved, I still sometimes come to Amersfoort just for Charlie's.

I've already been here twice to eat something with a friend and had a good experience. The service is very friendly and it has a cozy atmosphere. You really see the American look around you and I really like that. The food is very tasty, I would especially recommend the burgers. Prices are reasonable, not too expensive. Not recommended for large groups, it is too small for that, but 2-4 people are fine.

The best burger ever? Yes, mmm, that's right, a good piece of minced meat/meat, but then: the bacon burger in the picture: with lettuce and a large slice of tomato, a few large rings of onions, nice slices of bacon and a good bun. But in my box, a sandwich spread with a little Bob sauce/butter on the bottom, a hamburger, not even half a burnt onion ring in a mess of a string of fatty bacon, and that was it. It didn't look right! Really ridiculous actually, especially the decoration was missing - as it should be in the sandwich that you can expect for just €10. W.m.b. definitely not recommended!

This is the Disney land Paris under the burger tents, you simply must have been there! Lots of choice, everything very fresh and prepared with love. You will see, you will taste, you will believe. If not...I'll eat my shoes. EN: If you've never been to this place before even once in your lifetime, your life is not complete and I sincerely feel sorry for your loss. I mean if you're really not a fan of burgers it is too bad of course. This place is like the Disney land Paris of all burger places, you simply have to have been here! There's a huge arrangement of choices in the menu, everything freshly made with love. Thou shall see, thou shall taste, thou shall believe. If not.. I'll eat my own shoes.

Waste of your time and money. Delivery took over 1.5 hours and then you got a cold burger and weak fries. We were advised on the phone to get a burger at McDonalds next time and we will definitely do that! You don't have to plan your evening off for that and it is still warm. Do not order. Waited more than an hour and a half. When we called to ask why it was taking so long, we were told that otherwise we would have to order from Mac and we got a big mouth back because they could do 'nothing' and ensured "quality". Quality was nowhere to be found. Burgers were really soggy and had no taste. Fries were cold and limp... And that for 18eu per menu...

Never had so few fries for 4 euros.

They found a table for us on Saturday evening with a view of the canal and historical sights, the waiter remembered the order the first time and without a notepad. The dishes were served very quickly - within 15 minutes. It was fantastically delicious. We will come again and again. I advise

WARNING: Do not eat or order here, it looks nice but the burgers are raw and it made me sick. During my visit to Amersfoort I ordered a hamburger and cheeseburger here. As we entered we saw a couple leaving who were sitting outside. The woman only took 1 bite of her burger and left it, so I said to my friend, maybe she was feeling sick? Anyway, we went to the counter and ordered a takeaway hamburger and cheeseburger, since we couldn't sit outside. I deliberately said that I wanted the burgers well done. We sat for 20 minutes and got our burger. We had to catch the train back to Delft, so we ate our burgers on the way back to the station. I first took a bite, chewed and swallowed. The burger only contained a piece of meat with some sauce, not much else. We thought it would at least have tomatoes on it, but no. Anyway, after I swallowed the first bite, I saw that the burger was raw on the inside and not just a little bit either. This is so raw it was a health hazard (as I got sick afterwards), I was not happy with this burger at all. So I called them and they said they would reimburse the citizens and would be in touch for that. They did, they told me to send a payment request, but even after I reminded them, they didn't refund me (see screenshot). That's why I have to write this review to let you guys know about the burgers they sell with health risk.

Really delicious food. Really good burgers in a great atmosphere, pleasant and caring staff. Although we did notice that the staff was a bit busy this Saturday. But because of the good and pleasant smile, the slightly longer waiting time was not affected at all. Next time I'm in Amersfoort I will definitely go again!!

Well. Burgers you make at home are tastier. Cheap bake-off rolls that are very dry, unfortunately no fresh rolls or brioche. Meat is thin and tasteless, lamb burger looks like regular beef. Service very bad. Waitress drops/rolls mozzarella stick on dirty table, sees it, no apology, just walks away. Mayo/chili dip is okay but not marinara dip. Table dirty with ants, menus very dirty with fingerprints and grease stains. Milkshake looks nice with sprinkles but tasteless watery. Ordered mayonnaise but never received it. Loaded fries only have a minimal topping on them, a small dish (delicious bistro style) of fries with 3 strips of chicken, two drops of sauce, and quite a bit of parmesan cheese. I think you should especially order drunk here because the food is sobering. Nice art on the wall. Atmosphere is okay, but food and service below par.

Amazing sweet potato fries. The burger was not so good… the bread too soft, the meat nicely cooked, but the toppings were too thick so it’s impossible to bite the burger. The place has beautiful terrace at the back.

Well... Not really recommended. Burger baked bone dry, bun didn't taste fresh (dried out), you can add as much cheese and sauce to it, but it won't be really tasty. My girlfriend immediately applied antiperistaltic treatment when we got home and wasn't feeling well, so she wasn't enthusiastic either. Shame

We wanted to have a burger and based on the reviews this was the best place around. Food was overcooked - both burger and fries. Furtniture was sticky and old. In addition to that place smelled like toilet. Don’t get how they get 4,4

We had a couple of delicious meals here on a recent visit to Amersfoort. The staff were lovely and very sweet with our young kids, who declared the food "the best ever". All in all a great experience!

Charlies burger can be found in an attractive location, in an authentic old building, right in the center. When the weather is nice, the garden at the back is a lovely place to sit. 'In the past' this was a place where people often dined, with a nice atmosphere and delicious burgers. The atmosphere has remained, but the quality of the food has not necessarily improved. A few examples/tips: some of my sweet potato fries were deposited on my plate like a thump. Probably frozen and thrown into the fryer in one go. Shame The burgers (the meat) themselves are thin and resemble ready-made. That was different. Finally, as mentioned earlier, the atmosphere is nice because of the authentic building, the terrace at the back. The downside is the acoustics. Every time the door opens there is a lot of noise. Not much can be done to change that, but quite loud music through the speakers makes conversation almost impossible. We had to repeat sentences several times. Then in terms of service. When the burgers arrived my glass was empty, no new drinks were asked. When the empty plates were collected, we had to wait so long that we went for coffee somewhere else. Both we and other guests always had to wait. The staff has a very pleasant time with each other, but less attention to the guests.

I felt very nauseous after eating half the burger. I immediately passed this on to the waitress (she has brown curls that she wears in a bun), and I asked if the burger could be cooked a little better. Then she came back with that part of the burger fried black and the rest of the fries, but I was too nauseous to eat it. I mentioned this, and said I wasn't satisfied with the burger and would like to pay just for the fries. The waitress said this was not possible. Ridiculous.

After looking around for 30 min for a nice restaurant we have found Charlie’s Burger. The waitress is really helpful and nice recommending the best options in the menu. The atmosphere is relaxing, it’s far from noise and crowded main square. We sat in the garden, had some drinks and meet and veggie burgers which were really tasty! Totally worth it!

A nice hamburger restaurant in a beautiful, authentic place. Especially with a nice summer sun, it is recommended to chill out in the backyard with a drink. The staff is very friendly and the burgers tasted good, especially the homemade bob sauce. The Oreo milkshake is also recommended!

Heerlijk op het terras gezeten onder het grote doek,zat gezellig. Vriendelijke bediening. Eitjes en wrap waren erg lekker, wrap miste wel aantal ingredienten helaas, maar nog steeds goed. Grote milkshakes.

Dear Charlie, We 5 friends who have the habit of meeting up on Fridays, regularly order from Charlies. One of the five (ME) is a regular loyal customer, who often recommends Charlies to others. It will be nice if the sandwiches are toasted as standard! We must say that Charlies has the best burgers in Amersfoort. Sometimes the quality deviates a little, but in general we are often satisfied. The fries are very tasty and the Cheese Burger, Chicken Burger and Hannibal are our favorites. The desserts are tasty but not great, but not much for what you pay. The employees are nice but sometimes slow and we have to do our best to get their attention. If you have time, we recommend that you eat at the restaurant, the food is slightly better and the restaurant also has a cozy atmosphere. I must say that Charlies Burger and Charlies take out do not have the same quality, so be aware. (Charlies Burger is much better) ADJUSTMENT: I ​​recently ordered from Charlies Take Out again and it was very tasty, so they are doing well now!! hahah I have tried many other burger joints, or food joints, in Amersfoort and have come to the conclusion that Charlies and Bombari (and Ureshi Sushi) are the best.

I highly recommend to go there for brunch. Food is really tasty, portion is generous, staff was super nice. The menu card looks some yummy that it was really hard to make a choice!

Best burgers in Amersfoort. Love the variety and the decor of the place. Inside is quite small so if you can get a table outside and the weather is great, a lovely atmosphere by the canal.

Very American but more delicious!

We hadden besteld voor bezorging: een mooie afsluiting van een prachtige familiedag, maar wat een domper! Op de eerste plaats kwamen ze te laat. Daarnaast was niet alles geleverd (terwijl we wel als betaald hadden) 1 burger was lauw een andere, zeg maar frisjes. De sla, schijfjes tomaat, komkommer en augurk zou apart in bakjes per burger geleverd worden. Het bleek te gaan om bakjes van 5 centimeter met daarin die kleine stukjes ijsbergsla, 1 plaatje tomaat gevolgd door 1 plaatje komkommer en anderhalf plaatje augurk. Wat een teleurstelling is deze tent. Ze kunnen het beter Erik's eetschuur noemen.

The best burgers ever! If I had to eat one dish for the rest of my life it would be Charley Davidson. Always super tasty food, fresh ingredients, nice employees, good atmosphere, beautiful place. I absolutely don't understand the reviews with less than 5 stars! Even delivery is always top notch and fast (and I have ordered something here). If I ever move I will come back just for Charlie's burgers! They just aren't that tasty anywhere!
