After the renovation, the place feels much nicer — clean, cozy, and welcoming. We really enjoyed the food inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine, full of flavour and well balanced. Attentive and friendly service made the visit even more pleasant.

The place is beautiful and it’s a great experience not having to sit too close to other customers unlike in other cramped places in Amsterdam. I ordered the porchetta sandwich and asked for sourdough instead of ciabatta and my friend opted for the pumpkin toast. Plating was great and I personally really enjoyed the taste, though it would’ve been nice for the staff to clarify the differences of the actual dish (lettuce instead of rucola, etc). They were quite attentive though as they asked multiple times how the food was. For the portion size I thought it was on the pricey side.

We went without a reservation, but reservations might be necessary on busy days. The staff are friendly. The atmosphere is elegant and calm. I had vegan cauliflower, it was fantastic. The desserts are delicious too. I definitely recommend it.

I came here after reading the reviews about this place. Nice atmosphere and interior with great music. However, customer service was really disappointing. Had to flag down the waiter four different times to finally enjoy our order after 45min of being in the cafe. Perhaps it’s due to the rush, but still a simple order of iced tee took over 30 min to deliver. The waiters didn’t seem to be worried to check in on our table, not even once, which was weird because they regularly checked on other tables.

Had a really lovely experience at Café Restaurant Ceintuur Theater this past Friday. From the moment we arrived, the service was attentive, friendly, and perfectly timed without ever feeling rushed. The food was absolutely delicious — well-prepared, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. The ambiance really ties it all together: warm, relaxed, and elegant without being pretentious, making it a great spot for both a casual dinner and a special evening out. Everything just worked — great food, great service, and a genuinely pleasant atmosphere. Will definitely be coming back and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality dining experience in Amsterdam.

They updated the menu and I am very disappointed. They used to have gluten free pancakes (great for allergies) and now no pancakes…at a brunch place??? Very sad as it used to be a favorite of mine

I had a great experience here! I had visited before and already liked the place, but since the new owners took over and completed the renovation, it feels like a completely new (and much better) spot. The food and coffee have really leveled up, and now they’re also open for dinner with amazing cocktails. Highly recommended!

Yesterday, we had a delicious meal at the restaurant with its newly renovated interior. Beautiful ambiance and very friendly staff. (So friendly that we remarked to each other that it was "un-Amsterdam." ;)) The sea bass, BBQ skewers, green salad, and chocolate mousse—all highly recommended!!

This cafe, renovated from a movie theater, was very cozy. Architecturally it's interesting, with an open ceiling, so if you look up from the first floor you can see the second and third floors. There are various spaces, including sofas and high chairs, so you can choose the space that suits you best, which is great. Everything was stylish. The coffee and croissants were also delicious. There were families having fun, and people working on their computers, so I got a taste of everyday life in Amsterdam. It's far away, but I'd like to go back if I have another chance to travel from Japan.

Don't eat here. Overpriced Avocado toast is. Joke. Eggs fine toast too. Avocado turns out to be guacamole which is fine but it tastes exactly like the supermarket guacamole. Overly acidic not creamy and no taste of avocado. Edit. I did tell the waiter some Spanish guy and when I kindly told him I really didn't enjoy the avocado spread, he reacted like I insulted his mom. And got really defensive

What a great spot to come to!! The food was amazing, the be flat white was perfect and the space itself was weird and awesome. A lot of brick walls and wood furniture. Definitely would recommend it to anyone in the area

I really love this Cafe, the atmosphere and service are always so welcoming. During the week, the second floor is kept laptop-free, which makes it even more special. I enjoy sitting there with my coffee, getting some work done in such a lovely and relaxing space.

This is not a place that’s welcoming people that come to work for a bit. “They reserve tables for people who come to lunch”. Well, I did come to lunch, but a laptop meant I needed to sit at the bar (with the no-back-support bar stools). Very rude staff, arrogant and unkind. Would not recommend!

I thoroughly enjoyed this establishment. It has a very chill vibe and lots of space. It's kids friendly as they have a little corner where they can make drawings. The staff is very friendly and professional. They have plenty of space on different levels. The food quality is excellent. My steak and eggs really hit the spot. It's a recommendation from me!!

We ordered them expecting to have more than a half of a potato for 4.5 euros… It was a disappointment m, if you go don’t order fries/potatoes For what’s worth I found it little expensive but nice place overall

This place is not at all the same as a year back. The quality of food has gone down. Service is different. And the quantity is half ex avocado toast used to be two decent slices and now it was one. The pancake was not cooked properly. New owners are not able to maintain the ‘soul’ of what this place used to be..sad to loose a nice neighbourhood place

I recently had lunch with my family at this place. Unfortunately, we found the coffee had a strange taste that none of the three of us liked. On the positive side, the eggs with bread and bacon were very good. However, we were quite disappointed with the pancakes. While the pancakes themselves—made with whole wheat or buckwheat flour—were tasty, they were soaked in a cranberry and syrup sauce, which overwhelmed the dish. Slices of banana were served on the side, but the mix of hot and cold didn’t work for us. The dish really lacked freshness and fruit variety. The place itself is pleasant, with nice decor, and the service was very good. It was also very quiet when we visited. I had loved it back in 2019, but unfortunately, after this disappointing experience, I don’t think I’ll return.

We ordered a cappuccino with oat milk, and the blend of coffee and oat milk was perfectly balanced, we were truly impressed! I highly recommend their avocado toast. You can add bacon or smoked salmon as add one but honestly, I don’t think it’s necessary because the avocado toast itself is already awesome! I strongly recommend it! I’ll definitely come back again. Hopefully next time I can try their lunch menu, it looks amazing as well

Editing my review in May 2025, since it no longer applies. I visited in January ‘25 after the renovation and I found the place to be a lot better than it used to be. We had breakfast and everything was tasty. Service was good, atmosphere was very pleasant.

nice place but they make you order on a QR code and if you don't have a dutch bank account it won't work... the Mastercard option just makes the page crash, adding card info to the "bankcontact" option doesn't work either if you have a bank that isn't dutch. very unfortunate:/

Delicious food in a beautiful location, but the experience was spoiled by terrible service. We waited 30 minutes for half the food and never received our drinks. It's a real shame because the place is worth the trip.

We had a great start to the day thanks to Ceintuur. We had the bread with avocado and scrambled eggs, some salmon, and a delicious juice and coffee. The breakfast kept us full all day. We'd go back anytime.

Had a business meeting here and only a fresh mint tea so food i couldn't rate , The ambiance is nice, although the new owners are about to go into a make-over so once that is done I'll have to revisit it, i bet it's going to be more vibrant , on the first floor is ample room to sit in different couverts set-ups. On the second floor there's a designated area for Flex-work where you order through QR code.

It looks like an overcrowded canteen and it is very noisy. Service was very slow, think of at least 50 minutes waiting for the food and about 25 minutes for the drinks. When it arrived, the sandwich was cold and did not contain all the ingredients that were on the menu. When I said something about this, a new sandwich would be made. In the end I got the same sandwich from the microwave. Unfortunately. All in all a disappointing experience.

Beautiful place. Food is simple and good. Great coffee, down to earth service. The laptop friendly bar is very narrow and not comfortable. I recommend the juices!

Still decided to edit this review, since I posted this when it was still Coffee & Coconuts. Menu is NOT the same regardless of using the same names! The portions are a lot smaller and less quality. Certainly not bad, but the quality is less than before. Original review: Wonderful breakfast and lunch spot. Also nice for business meetings. Enough choice for vegan as well as normal

A little out of the center of Amsterdam, this is an excellent place to have a good breakfast. Located in an old theater, from the moment you enter you are surrounded by a vibe of comfort and warmth. The service people are very friendly and attentive. The food is very good and served quickly.
