Awesome sandwiches and coffee. Here are 2 of my lunches! UPDATE July 2026 - They have a new ice-cream counter here and I tried 4 and all were delicious! The chocolate, orange and hazlenut was exceptional, so too was the fig leaf (not so sure about the leaf but I certainly tasated the fig). The other bowl is 2 sorbets - amazingly smooth for sorbet, the mango was super but the basil and lime was next level!

I had a fantastic experience here! The gelato was absolutely delicious, with rich, authentic flavors and a truly homemade quality. What impressed me even more was learning that many of the fruits used are prepared by the team themselves, which really makes a difference in the freshness and taste. The service was exceptional as well. The staff took the time to explain every flavor, how each one was made, what to expect from the taste, and even recommended the best order to enjoy the different scoops. That level of passion, knowledge, and attention to detail made the visit feel very special. Overall, it was a memorable experience, and I would happily come back and recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality artisan gelato

Yes it’s a café, and yes coffee and food are technically the point, but for me comfort and friendliness are the real menu items, and this place serves them well. Everyone there (staff and customers) seemed young enough to make me briefly wonder whether I had accidentally wandered into a student orientation event. As a slightly insecure 50+ man armed with a laptop and mild existential uncertainty, I still somehow felt comfortable settling in and getting a few things done. Now, the coffee: delicious enough for my highly sophisticated “I liked it” rating system. The cake, however, was excellent and deserves its own applause. Is it pricey compared to other places? Yes. But they’ve got a great corner spot, a warm atmosphere, and staff so friendly you almost forget your bank account is quietly judging you. Today was my first visit, and I’ll be back.

A delicious ice cream from La-la-ice (previously had its own shop at De Hallen). The buttermilk ice cream with turmeric and lavender was especially delightful. Very friendly service.

I loved this place!!! I loved the decor, the upstairs area, all the pretty pasteries, and the general vibe of the place. It's a very good study location, it's pretty good that they're open till late, and I especially appreciate that the music they were playing wasn't at a deafening volume. I'm a big fan of the homemade ice tea, and I definitely wanna try more ice cream flavours the next time I'm here!

Extremely annoying terrace that largely blocks the sidewalk. Don't understand how this is allowed or possible. Very disruptive.

We went on a recommendation and the food was good, but during peak hours we had to wait over half an hour between ordering and receiving our food. They apologized.

There is a lady working there with a red hat on her head, very unfriendly. She threw the collar on the table, unbelievable. The rest of the ladies were good.

Humble, amazing and helpful staff. We love the toasties we ordered. Specially the burrata one.

Great cappuccino, smooth espresso, creamy milk, and perfect foam. Balanced flavour and not too bitter. Really enjoyable and well made.

coffee and atmosphere are great but there’s inconsistencies in the quality of their service. unclear laptop friendliness and at times unfriendly staff. prices are also exaggerated.

Extortionate prices for very low effort. Service was abysmal as we had to wait for 20 minutes without anyone coming up to us to give us the menus or for us to order. The quality of the drinks was bad and lazy and the service just made it so much worse. Would not reccomend.

Very disappointing experience. The service was extremely slow — we waited around 50 minutes for our food. We ordered a lentil salad that came with no lentils at all. When we asked about it, the waitress seemed uncomfortable and said they were “there somewhere,” just the same color, which honestly made no sense. We also ordered two granolas, one with regular yogurt and one with coconut yogurt. Both arrived with regular yogurt, and when we pointed it out, we were told we had ordered them that way, which was simply not true — everyone at the table heard the order clearly. When they took it back to fix it, we were later told they were out of coconut yogurt anyway. Overall, very poor service and lack of accountability. Would not recommend.

Not a varied selection of lunch items, but coffee & gebak is yummy.

I was sitting outside today and the older male manager yelled at all the staff which was weird since i had such a good experience with them. He insulted them and i felt very uncomfortable after. Definitely not coming back since i will not be supporting this. The employees deserve better.

I’ve been here twice in a row! The first time the coffee was really good, but the second time it was just… average? I honestly don’t know how that happens! The waiting time also doesn’t make much sense, and they don’t accept cash, which can be a bit annoying. On the bright side, the staff are super friendly, and the cake I tried was really tasty. The place itself is cosy and welcoming, perfect for a little coffee break. Despite the ups and downs, I’ll definitely be back again soon to see if the coffee evens out!

A very high-quality menu for a quiet brunch/lunch. The tables facing the sun are a real plus. The service isn't particularly attentive, but the food is fresh and healthy. The presentation is elegant. However, the prices remain high.

I was looking for a cozy and quiet café to work from and stumbled upon this gem after seeing it recommended on Reddit. I ordered a chia bowl along with a cappuccino and ginger tea. They offered a wide selection of plant-based milk, which I really appreciated. Everything was delicious. Working from here felt very cozy and comfortable. There’s a small workspace upstairs, which is perfect if you need to focus. The Wi-Fi was reliable, and the music selection really suited my taste. The staff were lovely and super helpful. Overall, a great experience! I’d definitely recommend this spot if you’re looking for a nice place to work from in Amsterdam.

I freakin love this place. Live just around the corner and come here ofter for a drink or kimchi tosti (my fave). The people are friendly, the vibes are so relaxed, and when the suns out the terrace is amazing.

The food was delicious, but the price was a bit high. The portions were small, but the atmosphere was fantastic.

The matcha was delicious! The blueberry cake was too. You can sit outside on the terrace, or you can work on your laptop inside.

We spent a few days in Amsterdam and always went there for breakfast. Everything was great, the coffee was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly. It has a really cool and zen atmosphere; it's very peaceful, stress-free, and tastefully decorated. Upstairs, you can find people working on their laptops while enjoying a coffee. We loved it. If it's nearby, don't hesitate—it's the place for you!

Dog-friendly cafés always win me over, especially when the food is a real gem and the staff are genuinely lovely. You can tell they adore dogs, and it just adds to the charm. And the food? Let me put it this way: they serve the best banana bread in the entire city. No exaggeration.

Insane prices, even for Dutch standards. 4.3€ for a small cappuccino? Be serious. Super annoying loud house music on the top floor, impossible to relax and enjoy your coffee.

What I missed about the restaurant was that it's difficult to access with a stroller. To get to any of the inside tables, you have to go up or down steps. The space between tables is just enough to leave the stroller next to it. Despite this detail, the food and service are great.

+ Nice location + Friendly service + The avocado toasties were delicious. - Too bad the lettuce was too wet, making the toasties a bit soggy. Full.

The cappuccinos and pastries were absolutely magnificent. Definitely try the chocolate croissant and chocolate chip cookie. I have tasted many such cookies in the US and across Europe, but this one stands out by far. The place also has a wonderful atmosphere for out-of-office work and students. The staff are also very warm and friendly. Will make sure again often.

Recommended by a friend, I stopped by for a coffee to go and some banana bread. Both were delicious, and next time I have time, I'll stay because it's so much more charming than most other cafes in Amsterdam! The staff are also very friendly and cheerful.

I’ve been coming here on and off for years and always enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly service. Unfortunately, over time the prices have gone up far too much while the portions have become noticeably smaller. For example, charging €9.50 for an overnight chia pudding is already on the high side, so as a guest you’d expect a generous portion instead, the size felt like a rip-off. The matcha was also disappointing, with a dull color that reflected in the taste. Overall, while the location and service remain good, the food prices and quality are no longer acceptable.

Cozy lunch café with friendly staff, the granola is delicious! The iced latte is a bit pricey, but a very reasonable price for Amsterdam.

The terrace is very pleasant. We ordered carrot cake and coffee, and we loved it. I recommend it!

Had a coffee in the upstairs area which was like a sauna. Otherwise normal coffee and cake.

The latte was ok, not great, (and not hot enough). The banana bread looked good but was not the best either. They have a nice terrace but I always like to sit inside. This was almost not doable by the very loud (on the edge of shouting) constant chatter of the staff, parts of whose personal life is now revealed to me. Seriously. I don't care the story behind your British accent nor the fact that you finally bought a bike. On top of this voluminous stream of gossip came people doing there spoken business with their laptop at no laptop tables and a lady who forgot her earphones watching YouTube video's. I will certainly never return.

I got served the most dusty coffee I’ve ever tasted.

Very friendly people working here. Was quite a long wait for the food, which is just an overpriced sandwich. The cheese tosti was really tasteless and the 15€ salmon on bread was drenched in sauce with a small slice of salmon on top. Not coming back for something other than coffee, espresso tonic was nice!

A very cozy place with a nice atmosphere and good coffee. Not much for eating though, because when I tried to order they said the kitchen is closed due to understaffing. Then I ordered a cake and something turned out to be wrong with that as well, and finally on the third order I got what I asked for, but the cake (lemon-blueberry) was unfortunately just okay.

WARNING: Wouldn’t recommend to Non-White people/People of Colour. Sadly had to alter this review since the service for this place has unfortunately gone downhill from two years ago. Been here a couple of times over the past month (since it’s getting warmer) and there should be the caveat that if you sit outside, it may take somewhere between 30 mins to 1 hour to be able to order, even if you try to get the attention of the server, they always seem to say we’ll get back to you and you have to repeatedly ask and push to be served. Most recent experience took me 3 times to ask and 40 minutes before I could rose and even just get a glass of water (despite the heat). Coincidentally, they weren’t actually that busy but for 10 minutes at a time, some of the people working there were just chilling. This may also be coincidental but the Australian at the bar didn’t seem to want to take any orders, unless you’re a white woman of course, sat by the side door and he turned away every non white person (myself, three non white girls and a black guy) who asked at the bar but was more than happy to help the ones he could flirt with it seems (three white women who wanted to order). Don’t want to label particular people but the behaviour was obvious. I guess some cafes treat non-white people differently.

Great spot to meet a friend, study, pretend to study while eating the amazing almond croissants, reorder a second latte because you drank the first one while pretending to study and now you have to actually study, but need a fresh motivator.

Matcha latte with coconut milk is a star. The cakes (especially carrot cake) are also tasty. Very nice location and view. You can have a bit more space if you sit upstairs.

Totally overpriced or bad service. I ordered a large takeaway cappuccino for €5.10 and expected to get something more than a small cup...big cups are just for latte, I was told. Never again.

Mostly it took so long to just order 1 cup of coffee, and 3 of 5 times I ordered cappuccino with oat milk and they gave me regular milk. Even 1 times the barista act like that I’m lying, while I always see they talk to much and work less pfftttt 🤷🏽‍♂️

It’s a shame that they don’t do more with the styling and concept of the place I’ve walked past many times and everytime the sheer nothing-burger atmosphere meant I’ve missed out on great coffee and excellent food But maybe this is just a goed bewaard buurt geheim, and I guess that’s cool too

Our favorite place for lunch on the first day every time we go to Amsterdam. The place is warm and cozy. The food is homemade, you can go there with my eyes closed.

It was pleasantly busy and warm/stuffy. I took a seat at the window that said 'Laptop free :)', I looked back and saw 5 tables occupied by workers. Not really points for the atmosphere. Then I would really rather have those people next to each other at the window than occupy 2 of them. I was shocked at the prices for the drinks. €4 for water (I hope a liter bottle of Marie Stella Maris). After waiting ten minutes I continued my path to a faster service.

Waited 25min on our coffee. Instead of serving us/preparing our coffees tables got cleaned, dishes were washed, talks were had. Today be more precise: we ordered two small coffee and the place was pretty empty. So if you have a lot of time and like waiting.. This is your place! Coffee was fine though.

What a charming wonderful place. The food is incredible and the staff was so great.

Waited for ages, order was wrong and not enough forks to eat. Well.. order was not corrected and forks Never came. We shared one fork and then waited for ages trying to pay.. ended up going inside to pay but felt like just leaving at a certain point. For this service these prices are not justified. Having tools to eat with is minimum to be asked. Half our Oder never arrived, despite asking several times.

This coffee is really comfy, they have 2 floors, the upper one has super comfortable seats and they also have a huge terrace. The staff was super nice! Didn’t try the food but they had lots of options for vegans

The staff is wonderful here! I’m gluten and dairy free and they made me a GF muesli with coconut milk yogurt, a cappuccino with coconut milk and a coconut milk latte. Yummm! Ingredients were SO fresh and plentiful. The little sprinkle of mint on the meusli was such a nice touch. They even have GF desserts, I haven’t tried those yet but they look delicious and I expect they taste just as good as the other items I had. I highly recommend this charming little place.

The quality is not good enough for what it costs. Almost 20 euros for an avocado toast and a flat white. Not worth it. The flat white was a little sour for my taste. The avocado and salmon toast without further ado, I think if they had toasted the bread a little, it would be better. The establishment is nice. They take a long time to serve you, they ask you if it is for taking in or taking out, if it is for taking in they tell you to sit down and they will take uour order at the table... I have seen a couple get up and leave... so, my recommendation asks at the bar and then they serve it to you at the table, saving time.

We regularly come here for the acai bowl, but our plate of acai was a disappointment. It was very watery and the bananas were sliced ​​so thin you could almost see through them. Furthermore, the toppings were also very few. You pay 13.50 for this, ridiculous because we have never experienced this before. Our cappuccino with oat milk was also cold. The croissants with jam and butter were served without butter and jam. Very unfortunate, my nephew's birthday should have gone differently.
