I find the concept very interesting. However, every time I’ve been here, I’ve only gotten the ribs myself, which comes already cooked of course, and they are excellent. So are the sides, and the sauces. The atmosphere is also very cozy.

The restaurant offers very pleasant seating, friendly service, and delicious food. A super interesting concept that you have to try. Overall, I have to say that cooking on the stone only partially convinced me. It was a good experience, but the difference in taste compared to a grilled/fried steak didn't blow me away. Nevertheless, the selection and quality were top-notch, so I definitely recommend it!

We had to make reservations a couple days in advance because they were booked the night we wanted to go so we made sure to secure a table for a Saturday night of eight people. We sat outside and they handed us the menus. They weren’t the same menus that we saw online. Apparently, they tried to get us to buy a group meal with the cost per person with choices of starters and entrées. We asked for the regular menus, which is what we ordered off of. What we weren’t aware of when choosing this restaurant is that you cook the entrée at your own table on a very hot stone. A few people had the tiger prawns, shrimp that they cooked for 30 seconds on each side and other couples had steaks which require required a few more minutes on each side to cook to your liking. The good part about this is it kept your steak hot for every single bite. Sides are extra and the steaks come with one sauce. Although I was looking forward to the old fashion they showed on the menu, when we got there, they said they didn’t have old-fashioned. I was going to order a bourbon, but then I noticed they had no bourbon either. We sat out front on the patio under an umbrella, which was a nice ambience to be at, but unfortunately, everybody had to use their phone, flashlight to look at the menu and even a couple furthest away from the building had to use it while they were dining cause they couldn’t see their food. it wasn’t just us other tables that arrived how to use their phone to read the menu as well. They can certainly use some lighting underneath the umbrella to alleviate this problem. It was a great concept and we really enjoyed our time there. I would highly recommend going there if you’re in town looking for a good steakhouse.

I don’t know what was better—the taste of the T-bone or the experience of cooking it yourself. It was absolutely delicious. The only thing we didn’t like were the ribs—they were very dry and definitely not cooked properly. But anyway, we’ll definitely go back there for the T-bone.

Stone grill experience. Cooking your own meat to the level of your own doneness. They were willing to allow us to choose ala carte instead of taking the course meal so we can have a choice of food to eat. Can change the wedges to more salad instead. For ala carte, sauces are charged individually.

We had a wonderful meal here. Due to a terrible traffic jam, we were much too late. We called on the way to let them know. It was no problem, and they kept our table reserved. So sweet. We had a fantastic meal and the service was friendly. Fantastic!!

I had a hamburger, but my companion ordered a steak that you could cook yourself on a hot stone slab. The meat was also very tender, he said. After walking a lot for Sail Amsterdam 2025 that day, the beer was delicious.

The food was good/okay, with a lot promised and a bit pricey, but not necessarily outstanding. The service was severely lacking; there wasn't much of a smile, and we felt compelled to leave.

Tables are set very tightly next to each other so you don't have any comfort of conversation. The food is OK, but massively overpriced.

We tried this nice steak restaurant downtown not very far from Dam area. Steak was really tasty and delicious specially the tenderloin steak 🥩 my friend got, I got the ribs they were good but if they were hot it would be even better. I loved the mojitos they made so good 🫰🏼

⭐ 1 out of 5 stars Follow-up: After I posted this review, the restaurant contacted me and offered to refund the €85 we paid – but only on the condition that I delete the review or remove the description of what happened. They stated that if they refund the amount, it should be treated as if the visit never took place. I want to make it absolutely clear that I did not at any point ask for a refund – nor did I accept any agreement to delete my review. Of course, I have updated it to include the fact that I received the refund after writing the review, but that does not change what happened. In fact, I believe the payment should never have been charged at all, considering the seriousness of the situation. To suggest that refunding the amount somehow erases the incident is simply not correct. The incident happened – refund or not. We visited Day Stonegrill 1870 as a couple and ordered two striploin steaks with fries and pepper sauce. The concept of cooking the steak yourself on a hot stone worked well – and the meat itself was okay, not bad but nothing special. The sides were disappointing: the “fries” turned out to be potato wedges, and the vegetables were clearly frozen, lacking both taste and texture. To be clear – the one-star rating is not about the food quality, which was acceptable. It’s entirely based on how a serious incident was handled by the staff. The biggest disappointment – and unfortunately a serious issue – was the sauce. I had specifically ordered pepper sauce, but was instead served a peanut sauce without being informed. As I am allergic to peanuts, this led to an allergic reaction. When I brought the issue to the staff’s attention, it was not taken seriously nor handled professionally – their only solution was to offer a new steak (!), which in no way addressed the actual problem. There was no apology, and I was told it was my own responsibility because I hadn’t asked about allergens. That is completely unreasonable – I ordered a steak with pepper sauce, and nothing in that order would suggest the presence of peanuts. Later, the staff said the sauce was “a gift from the chef” – which makes it even more important to explain it clearly to the guest, especially when it looks like something they ordered. The evening ended with an allergic reaction, a “compensation steak,” and a bill of €85. I expected a far more professional approach to both allergens and customer care.

If you are looking for eating meat or burger in Amsterdam, you should try this place. Since you order and see fresh meat on your table, you can be sure about quality of meat and cooking by yourself with this authentic style, gives you chance to make exact decision how rare you want to eat 👍.

It's a nice restaurant. For those who want to go there, it's a stone steak house, meaning most of the meat is cooked on a stone. The meat was fresh but, as described, had a small thread of fat. The staff was very friendly. The price/performance ratio was okay. We sat on the terrace.

What a huge disappointment this was. There were good reviews online, TripAdvisor ranked 19th out of 5,000 in Amsterdam, and a very impressive Instagram account. I'm completely ripped off by clever online marketers. The service was rushed/stressed, the food was terrible, and when my American friends asked if their meat could be prepared by chefs instead of grilling it themselves on a stone, it was absolutely impossible because it wouldn't be "in line with the concept." A little consideration for your customers, or at least a friendly approach, wouldn't hurt! The side dishes, like vegetables, also looked more like rabbit food than intended for humans. I'll definitely never, ever go back here.

The concept remains fun: grilling your own meat or fish creates a cozy atmosphere. The meat was high quality and very tender, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very warm, inviting for a perfect evening out with friends. The price-quality ratio was also excellent. I had an incredible dining experience at days stengel, and it’s easily one of the best steakhouses i’ve been to in a long time. from the moment we walked in, the service was attentive, welcoming, and knowledgeable. the ambience was warm and inviting perfect for a special occasion. Cooked to absolute perfection, my ribeye was juicy, flavorful, and had the beautiful sear in the outside. you can actually tell they use high quality steak and freshly served with the raw meat. creamy potato’s and great mushroom sauce. Thanks to the great waiter! overall great experience here in Amsterdam.

Planned our whole last day in Amsterdam around our visit there and when it was finally time to go there (after 16:00) it wasn’t even open, even though we went with official opening hours from their website.

The menu listed online doesn't correspond to reality at all. The desserts, especially the tiramisu, are listed at 19.50 euros in the restaurant, and the Dame Blanche ice cream is listed at 20 euros. Despite asking a waitress, she told us that the prices displayed were correct. How can they list a dessert at 19.50 euros and an ice cream at 20 euros when the tiramisu is listed at 8.50 euros and the Dame Blanche at 7.95 euros? The most expensive desserts listed on the platforms and on their website are 8.50 euros. Review seriously. Since this TripAdvisor rating, the restaurant has been pressuring me to remove my review by trying to call me and sending me a multitude of messages on WhatsApp. 😡😡

Very poor dining experience. I ordered a 200g ribeye steak, but at least 80g of it was inedible beef tendon. Do they even have quality control? Are they just passing this off as acceptable meat to customers? Furthermore, my friend ordered a 400g steak, and they served two small pieces of steak. Why not give us one whole steak? We were extremely dissatisfied. We complained to the waiter, but they did nothing and ignored us. Terrible.

I rarely leave negative reviews. I will start with the positive, which is that the cut of beef I had (tenderloin) was very good. Unfortunately, there were several negatives: * the mixed vegetables were literally frozen vegetables that had been microwaved, with two slices of sautéed onion and one slice of sautéed pepper thrown in. No seasoning. Maybe 1/4 of a bag of frozen carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower you could buy for €2, and they charge €6,50. * the baby potatoes were baked, with essentially no seasoning, no oil, nothing. Just baked. * the gimmick (which I hadn’t realized ahead of time), is that the meat cooks at the table on a hot stone. So if it’s over-cooked, that’s on you. The instructions they give are to cook it 30 seconds on each side. That is not enough to come close to browning the outside of the meat and it will be completely raw. I don’t like overcooked meat, but 30 seconds on a side?? I don’t think you could brown the outside without way overcooking the meat. It pretty much can’t be cooked properly this way. * water cost €6,50. * the old fashioned cocktail (€14), was made with cheap whiskey and overly sweet. * service was very slow and the servers didn’t know what was gluten free or not. * the website claims to have over 75 menu items. I guess they are counting different sizes of the same cuts of meat, mixed and matched with the sauces that cost an extra €2,50 for ~1.5 tablespoons of sauce. When you don’t order the extra sauces, they bring the plates with empty bowls. After this, we definitely did not try dessert. I guess this is what we get for eating in the tourist district. I should have been suspicious when they didn’t have their menu online. Definitely got dubious when I saw paper napkins. I’m amazed at all the positive reviews.

I came here for a solo dinner while traveling for work, and I’m so glad I did. Sometimes eating alone can feel awkward, but the staff made me feel completely at ease. The atmosphere is quiet, laid-back, and perfect for unwinding after a long day. I ordered the house burger with truffle fries and a glass of red wine. Everything was served hot and fresh. The burger was juicy and full of flavor — cooked medium-rare exactly as requested. What impressed me the most was how clean and well-maintained the place was. It’s clear they pay attention to detail, both in food and service.

This was my first visit, and it certainly won’t be the last. The restaurant has a beautiful, relaxing ambiance with soft lighting and cozy seating. The grilled octopus appetizer was the star of the night — tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Our server was friendly and offered great recommendations. Everything felt very thoughtful and well-prepared.

One of our favorite meals from our trip to Europe! Highly recommend following the waitresses advice on cooking meats (mine came out medium rare which is perfect for me). Stone stays hot so as i was eating and the meat got a little cooler, I'd throw it back on the stone for a few seconds. Sauces were AMAZING as were the potatoes. We ordered ribs and lamb. Drooling just remembering 😋

Steak with a twist Grill it yourself on a hot stone. Nice atmosphere in the heart of Amsterdam. Completely satisfied, from the starter to the main course and even the dessert. We had made a reservation in advance. Naturally, the prices are on the high side, so it's always advisable to check in advance. We wouldn't rule out another visit.
