Very nice place to have lunch. Places on the terrace both in the sun and covered. The white beer is particularly tasty here. The pulled pork tosti is recommended! Price/quality one of the better catering establishments of Ameland.

Everything was perfect here, and it was really good! Since I only rate really, really good experiences with 5 stars, I also recommend 4 stars. I had the set menu for €45.00 per person, which is OK considering the island's high prices. It was really delicious and more than enough. We've been here twice already and would love to go again.

Above expectations good food! Service friendly, helpful and neat. Atmosphere and acoustics good. We have eaten cod, belhamel and aap, noot, mies. Everything top of taste and cooked just right. We are only on Ameland for 5 days, but will definitely go back a second time.

It was quite cold but still cozy! The food was delicious and was served within about 15 minutes. I was also asked several times if everything was okay. We only spent around €10-20, but there was also a komder menu and a flat bread with pulled pork. So actually it was more like €20-30

Cosy, tasty, professionals and good value for money! This old school scored 10 with a Granger! This cozy restaurant excels in every area. Friendly and professional staff, excellent cuisine, fresh dishes and good wines that they purchase from local entrepreneurs. We had lunch here and it tasted like more, so we also had dinner. Well, while you're out walking.....then go for a drink. We were there in the low season, but reservations will prevent disappointment.

Simply great. Been there 12 years ago and now again. Delicious food. Didn't have to wait long for food and the service was very friendly.

Went to Ameland for a few days for the first time. A great island, walked through a real storm, cold and wet and then had dinner at De Griffel. Well, a brisk walk and some cold and a rumbling stomach already makes a lot of sense, but here we seriously had a really tasty and enjoyable meal. Nice service, homely atmosphere, and very good food. Fresh, generous portions and good taste. In short, if you are on Ameland, a visit is highly recommended. Ps also a great lunch and hot chocolate

De Griffel, located in a former school building, exudes atmosphere! The food is simply delicious and the hospitality makes it complete. Yes, it can sometimes be busy and lively - especially because of the many families who also appreciate this restaurant - but that is part of the charm. We enjoy coming back here every year, because De Griffel never disappoints. See you next year!

We first enjoyed a delicious Mai Thai cocktail, Nachos and Bitterballen here in the afternoon. Back in the evening for dinner where we both opted for the Pietje Bell: diamond tenderloin medium rare (rare), prawns and truffle-cognac sauce. The diamond tenderloin was perfect, an angel on your tongue. The sauce and prawns were also super delicious. 4 types of side dishes, all of which were delicious. My favorite was the rhubarb compote! But it didn't stop there, the Long Iceland Iced Tea was also one of the tastiest we have ever had. The staff was more than friendly and helpful! Definitely worth it if you are in Hollum. Very nice staff. That makes the difference for any establishment even if the food is average. (I have high standards for food, so three star for food is actually not so bad.) The staff was friendly, patient and had a smile on their face. So a smile, means tip for them. The place had the heater on, blankets on the seats for when it is cold. We sit in the indoor terrace area, nice and bright with a fresh feel to it. Service was quick, friendly, polite and overall nice experience. If you like a alcohol beverage, order the "Griffel" at the end of your meal. It is delicious. I bought a whole bottle of it. You can park your car behind the place. You can certainly stop by here for a quick bite and be served friendly. Prices are fair.

What a super nice catering place in the old school and the old school master's house in Hollum on Ameland. Here we had a lovely drink on the terrace. Of course I couldn't resist exploring it inside: my compliments for the beauty. furnishings. So nice that the old school and schoolmaster's house have been given this new purpose. Smooth and nice service. Neat toilets. Next time we will come for lunch or dinner. Excellent menu, already studied. So goodbye and thanks for a pleasant break.

The fries were delivered to us very salty. And the apple pie was partly cold. The severster (the teacher) knew the portion of the bread board well. What was nice was that it turned out to be in an old school and that is the theme of the restaurant. You see this in the menu and in the interior.

Tastiest sirloin steak I have ever eaten. Tuna carpaccio starter lacked some flavor, but the sirloin steak more than made up for it.

We spontaneously went to the Griffel for lunch. Nice young team, perfectly chilled drinks. Pulled pork in flat bread was very tasty and the salad was fresh. The Griffelburger was generously topped and grilled medium, wonderful. Price-performance ratio is right, we can only recommend it.

Very tasty meal. Good quality! With a delicious local beer it is really enjoyable. Good, pleasant and fast service. We were there during the boat waters festival. It was very busy but we had made a reservation. Because the cafe-restaurant became a party tent later in the evening, it had to be converted. It was expected, but still strange when all the tables and chairs around you are removed. This restaurant is definitely recommended if you are on Ameland.
