This restaurant absolutely delivered! I had the Quattro Formaggi Pizza (gluten free) which tasted amazing 👏 and then of course I had to get the Tiramisu which is also gluten free!

had wine-perfect had spirits-good had pizza Bianca-perfect (actually the best pizza i’ve had in quite a while) absolutely worth the money (no more than 20euros). service was perfect, more than perfect. really really happy with our cycling stop. ideal for a family dinner or romantic date. i 100% recommend. p.s. for staff : “mascotte” ♥️

Taken over by a new owner. The pizza and pasta were not as tasty as under the previous owner. A cheese board was served without information about which cheeses were which and without crackers or bread, yet it cost nearly €20. The wine was good but very expensive. Service was okay.

The pizzas were good, but a young waitress didn't write down the appetizers correctly because she didn't have a notepad and brought us one we hadn't ordered. We mentioned it to her, but she pretended not to notice…unprofessional, the normal thing would have been to replace it…

I rarely leave bad reviews, but this one is worth sharing. While sitting on the terrace with a friend, we were warmly welcomed. But when it was time to pay, another waitress asked me directly in front of my friend if I wanted to leave a tip. In all my years of dining out, that has never happened to me. I left a tip, but only because I felt cornered, not because I wanted to. Tips should be optional, never something customers feel pressured into. I hope this is addressed, as it took away from what could have been a pleasant first visit.

This is must visit for anyone that has a gluten intolerance or is coeliac! Situated in a quieter, more suburb-esque part of Amsterdam, this restaurant was able to cater greatly to my partner's allergies. The pizza is amazing, excellent portion sizes and the pasta was also very good. The staff were friendly and attentive when we mentioned gluten free options. The atmosphere is very local, being in a neighborhood. This made us feel right at home. We will definitely be coming back!

Best place nowadays for lunch or an early dinner. Daily specials, fish/meat/veggie and of course a great pizza, pasta menu. Tiramisu and scroppino to wrap it up!

Google shows it closing at midnight. We arrived at 22:25 after walking a distance It closed at 22:30. Very disappointing and we were very hungry. Current info on social media is important.

Good location and celiac friendly (gluten free). Unfortunately our portions were very small. My pizza was more of a kid’s size than a normal size, and my partner’s pasta was also a very little portion. We were both hungry after the main dish. Then I’d say that price vs. quantity is it’s main weakness.

The service was very disappointing. The lady, whom I believe is the owner, was extremely rude. Just the tone of voice of someone not really wanting you to sit at their restaurant.

Terrace full of smokers. Starter served after main course. Food quality was good but experience could have been better.

Lovely atmosphere at De Italiaan — great vibe both inside and outside. Menu is small but focused, with high-quality options. The gluten-free pizza base was genuinely excellent, and great to see buffalo cheese on offer. Only downside: the pizza comes with a base layer of cheese even if you request changes. I asked for cow’s cheese to be removed but it still came underneath, which was disappointing and did take away from the experience. Overall, a great spot with strong potential — just worth double-checking dietary requests.

Recommended dining, it was delicious, especially the bisque and the shellfish. Service friendly and fast. Great place to come back to often.

What a nice, cozy Italian restaurant. We had a really delicious meal, bruschetta as a starter and pizza as the main course. The pizza comes with a nice pizza knife; handy. Very tasty thin crust and topped with fresh ingredients. I have saved this restaurant as a favorite; handy for next time.

At 5:00 PM, I arrived with my daughter, and even though we hadn't made a reservation, we were able to find a nice spot on the balcony. I had one of the best pizzas I've ever had: the pancetta pizza. Two delicious beers and it was wonderful to relax in the restaurant after a long day in Amsterdam. Friendly service.

The restaurant is lovely, and the welcome was warm. The meal was frankly very good. The only downside was that we were seated near the door, so when people opened it, we got a blast of wind (I had to eat in my coat).

Nice place. Really chill and comfortable. Menu was in some foreign language and wasn’t translated properally in English. Had real Italian food on the menu tho, but I felt like it was missing some classics, carbonara, lasagne ect. Food was good tho

We had a bite to eat here on our way to the Melkweg. Nice decor and fast service. The food was a bit disappointing, with rather thin pizzas, especially considering the price.

Delicious pizzas and a cozy atmosphere

15 euros for one (!) slice of bruschetta and a much-overpriced pasta dish that I make better at home. We also had to wait over an hour for it, so we had to rush to get to the theater on time. Don't fall for it, folks, mediocre food at tourist prices. What a shame!

The coziest place! Dim light, not noisy, casual, no pressure vibe. Great food! Very tasty pastas and desserts! Wine recommendation was perfect and overall staff was very accommodating – they've offered us multiple ways to make some dishes vegan and adjust ingredients. Definitely coming back.

We had a very tasty, fresh pasta Regina and pizza De Italiaan. Everything was of good quality and met our expectations. The terrace on a lively street is a lovely, atmospheric spot. We made a reservation in advance, and the reservation fee was neatly deducted from our invoice.

Our experience was unbeatable. We recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys authentic Italian food. We ordered various pastas and pizzas, and everything was top-notch. The service was also six-star. They resolved a mistake we made when booking, opened a part of the restaurant that's usually closed, and we ate in a private, warm, and very comfortable setting. My favorites: primi di mare and tiramisu. Thank you all so much, and we apologize for the inconvenience.

This was a fantastic find in Amsterdam, as we have three coeliacs in our family of 5. The waiter was very reassuring when he explained how they provide gluten free food safely for coeliacs. They are able to provide all pizzas as GF (and the same size as regular pizzas). They can provide almost all pasta dishes (just not the stuffed pastas). We had the special pasta Al ragu, the pizza Da Italiaan, and a few different ham pizzas. They were all delicious! For dessert, around 1/3 are made GF - we had GF ice cream, tiramisu, panna cotta and canolli. All were very tasty. The servers were all kind and friendly to us tourists/English speakers. The restaurant is in a pretty neighborhood, so it was lovely to sit on the terrace and people-watch while eating. We highly recommend Da Italiaan!

Delicious food in a casual atmosphere

The three of us had a wonderful meal. My all-time favorite Pizza Diavola was superb. The ladies had good pasta, but in my opinion, the portions were a bit too small. The service could use some improvement. But everything was fine.

Very good pizza, one of the best I've ever had. A quiet restaurant away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Very friendly service; it's worth a visit.

Quite a disappointing experience. I decided to give this place another try since it’s often busy, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. We ordered the pasta, which was incredibly bland—almost as if the chef hadn’t tasted it. I had to request cheese and salt just to make it edible, only to find out later that I was charged €2.50 for them, without any prior notice. On top of that, they charged €1.50 for tap water. There wasn’t even a spoon provided for the pasta, which made eating it awkward. When I mentioned the issues to the staff, nothing was done—they simply shrugged it off. Overall, the food was flavorless, the service indifferent, and the charges unreasonable. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Bonito lugar con comida sorprendentemente buena a precios razonables. Pedí bruchetta y un plato de pasta con una cerveza, compartido para dos por 38 euros. La cerveza costaba 6 euros. Bruschetta 7 , 5 euros. Flavorful. Buen ambiente. Llegamos sin reservas a las 6 un viernes y nos sentamos, pero nos dijeron que tenían reservas para nuestra mesa a las 7:15. Hubo mucho tiempo para comer y disfrutar del área. Volveré.

Nice restaurant on a side street just outside the old town of Amsterdam. We were able to sit outside, it was warm enough. Attentive service. You are placed. The tables are cramped, but still OK. Every table is needed. In Amsterdam it is generally not cheap. Not here either. We ordered pizza. Nice thin dough. We like that. The surface left a lot to be desired. We wouldn't come back, but that's our subjective opinion.

Gluten free pizza was very hard and they seem to be good with allergies but I had a bad reaction. So just make sure you tell them you’re celiac I should have done that

Extremely poor service. Of course, you may occasionally serve coffee with spoiled milk, but at least apologize. Downright rude how this waitress did her job of which this was certainly the low point. A shame, because the restaurant looks nice and the food was also ok.

honestly one of the worst italian i have ever tasted really cannot recommend super expensive and not worth it, totally unauthentic i don’t think they know what ragu means 😂 also the service was really not great

Unfortunately, this was not the experience we expected. The service was not good, we were not asked if we wanted anything to drink for the entire time we were there (2.5 to 3 hours). So we spent the entire time with water, which just comes from the tap and is not free. Waitress didn't come by either so we couldn't speak to her. The starters are mediocre, very few and very expensive. two slices of bread with melted cheese for €7. Everything around us was also tidied up and cleaned while we were still there. Tables and chairs cleared away, etc. And if you want extra arugula you pay 1.50!!!! Yes, sorry, that's not normal, is it? Waitress is probably very nice but kept laughing awkwardly with us and it was just a bit crazy. Pizza order was also wrong and therefore I had to wait longer. No oil with the sandwiches and just very sparse. Pizza was quite tasty in the end, but some pieces were very sour (due to lemon juice I think?) and the tomatoes were cold… All in all not very hospitable and I will not come back here again. Shame…

We came to eat today, the staff was really kind and the place was immaculately clean. The food was delicious, my partner and I we always eat gluten free, and they have a lot of options, and really tasty! We are really happy with the service and the food, we will repeat soon sure!
