We had a magical, wonderful New Year's Eve experience. An absolute 10 for this charming restaurant. The food was fantastic, the wines were perfectly paired, and the service made it an unforgettable experience. For us, the best restaurant in Amsterdam thanks to the combination of atmosphere, service, and fantastic food. The tableware is also magnificent. We'll be back soon.

An absolutely beautiful experience in the heart of Amsterdam. This several generation family run restaurant is such a delight; Fantastic service, mindful wine pairings, and most of all delicious and innovative food. We had the 7 course and 8 course dinner's. Our entree's were very well timed, fresh, and beautifully presented. I love that the front of the house manager told us why they paired a particular wine with each course, the regions, and how the terroir changes the mineral aspects of the wine. 10/10.

This was hands down my best meal in Amsterdam. The Christmas lunch tasting menu was an absolute triumph from start to finish.Every course was deliciously inventive, showcasing high-level culinary creativity.The deer dish was exceptional. The decor was beautifully chic, providing a perfect backdrop for a special occasion. The wine pairing was on point, perfectly complementing the flavors of the menu. I deeply appreciated how the staff provided creative alternatives for my allergies and food preferences without compromising the quality of the meal.Highly recommend!

One of the best restaurants I've ever been to, highly recommended. I was on my honeymoon with my wife and they were spectacular. We ordered the 7-course tasting menu and dish after dish was excellent.

The food was great, the service was wonderful, the atmosphere was formidable. We enjoyed a great night out dining at the Silveren Spiegel in an old but classy Amsterdam building. We would recommend this restaurant to anyone. There is one thing they can do better. The wine arrangement was not up to the standards we are used to. Some white wines were very flat and tasteless. Other than that enjoy the adventure that the 7/8 course menu is.

The dish design and the flavors are truly world-class, and I also had the best raw fish I’ve ever tasted in my life. The service was excellent as well. The environment might not be that great, as the layout feels a bit awkward and uneven. The only reason I didn’t give a full score is that the dishes were served quite slowly. I understand it’s fine dining, but it took nearly four hours — even people who arrived an hour later than us finished eating at around the same time.

We opted for the 8-course menu with wine pairings. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, and the service is very courteous, charming, and attentive. The food was fantastic, and the wine pairings were also excellent.

This was a dining experience. The atmosphere of the restaurant set in a 400 year old family owned house is just as charming and cozy as you would think. The service is exceptional and the food was next level, not only was it delicious each dish was a work of art. They've been acknowledged by the Michelin guide but how they're not sitting with at least 1-2 stars is beyond me. We did the 8 course tasting menu and it was superb. This was our final dinner in Amsterdam and wow did it not disappoint. Cheers!

A wonderful restaurant in every sense of the word

A Michelin-recommended restaurant, with an impressive level of culinary creativity and first-rate waiter service.

This meal exceeded all of our expectations! Every meal was like a little piece of art. I especially liked the dessert inspired by Van gogh’s sunflowers which is also my favourite painting. Service was superb and even better than multiple Michelin star restaurants, will definitely visit again when we have the chance.

A lovely little house! Yes, very expensive, but we had something to celebrate :) The dishes are so delicious, lovingly and creatively decorated with delicate details. An experience that you won’t want to miss!! The most delicious food with the best waiters and the most amazing food art you can have ever have!

Anniversary dinner. The atmosphere was very quaint, welcoming, and elegant. We chose the seven-course menu with wine pairings. Each course demonstrated the high-quality ingredients and the chef's skill in combining them in a flavorful, creative, and artistic way. My favorites were the quail, the North Sea crab, and the two desserts. The plating was a work of art. The wine pairings were spot-on in every case, though perhaps the rosé was the only less popular choice. Service was competent but also friendly. Prices were high, but worth the special experience.

Location - great, nice, beautiful area, authentic old Amsterdam building, steep stairs, all this creates an unforgettable medieval vibe. Service - I didn't like it, waiters act like robots, identical memorized phrases for all guests, even with identical intonations and self-expression, all this creates a feeling like they memorized a plot and repeat it every day over and over, afraid to make any change in it. Like actors working for their money and waiting for the end of the working day to finally go home. Also, I didn't like that they started to serve another course even if the guest was not at the table - it's not so difficult to take a look and wait for a minute before serving. Food presentation - excellent, beautiful, big plates, food itself looked close to the artwork. The only downside was that they served cutlery for all courses at the beginning of the dinner. So, the whole table was in forks and knives - looked silly and inconvenient. Food - well, I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, everything was good and tasty, but for this money, you expect that everything will be phenomenal and out of this world. But out of this world was only the dessert - the white one with the ice cream, which you can find in the photo I attached. All the rest was from ok to delicious, not better than in a good but not as expensive restaurant. TL;DR: robotic service, milk dessert is great, all the rest is just ok. Too expensive, don't go.

Second time here … remains an incredible experience. Staff very attentive, friendly, provided recommendations on wine as we didn’t do a pairing per course, and shared history of the location/family. Food - wow just no words, pure art and abundance of flavor. Chefs take great pride in their craft equal to the mastership of Dutch engineering of water. Very special experience!!!

We did this as a special treat for our honeymoon and really enjoyed the experience. The service and food was amazing. Definitely not something to do nightly but good for a special occasion. Dinner took about 3 and a half hours so plan accordingly.

My wife and I visited de Silveren Spiegel in mid July and had a great evening to finish off our stay In Amsterdam. We went for the 7-course meny with a 7 glasses wine pairing, and it was fantastic. The lovely 17th century restaurant premises offered a wonderful atmosphere combined with an excuisite fine dining experience. Service was very professional, yet friendly and informal. I cannot begin to explain now amazing this meal was… exceptional! I know they don’t have a Michelin Star, but I think this exceeded meals I’ve had a star rated restaurants. I’m glad it isn’t, too much hype around those star rated restaurants!! The restaurant is in an old Dutch house, I believe from the 1600s. So cool! They have limited seating, it’s quite small. Be sure to book online well in advance. From the moment you walk in you can tell it’s going to be great! How authentic and cozy it feels. All the staff do a great job to make you feel like family. Our server Harry was amazing. So funny and knowledgeable! Dinner we decided to do the 8 courses. Everything single one was so well thought out and flavorful. The dishes were very unique. We did not do the wine pairing, but that was an option. We just did a champagne to start and a glass of wine during the meal. Also ended with a nice after dinner liqueur. Harry provided great recommendations. I have never experienced anything like this. From start to finish everything was amazing. The food was SO good. I am so beyond I decided to come here and this blew away my expectations.

What an absolute treat! Service was excellent and the quality of food was fantastic! The server explained the history of the house - old Mayor's house converted into a restaurant - and gave us a very brief tour - we were the first ones at the restaurant so the server had time to explain the history. My husband had their Michelin special that included a 5-course lunch with a glass of champagne, wine pairings, coffee & tiny sweets. I don't drink alcohol so I had the 5 course menu without the drinks. The server made me two "special" drinks that he mixed at my table. The drinks were not on the menu and he just made them based on the flavors I liked. I don't remember what they were called except one was a little tart and the other was sweet. Both were excellent, and the presentation of the drink was great! The presentation of food was good and it was very flavorful. Each dish didn't disappoint and I love the combination of flavors. It was a treat for my eyes and my tastebud! :) Service was also top notch - we had two servers to 5 tables so they were extremely attentive and friendly, taking time to explain each dish and the wine pairing. Our lunch took about 2.5 hours and we didn't feel rushed at all. Expect to sit and enjoy lunch for over 3 hours, esp if you order coffee and want to sit and talk. The servers obviously take great pride in their job and it made me feel happy to see that. We ended up tipping higher than normal for European standards, which made our server happy. And we were happy to see him happy..It was such a fantastic experience all around. My only regret was not making the reservation earlier so we could have dinner --- book early because by the time we finalized our dinner plans (1.5 weeks before we traveled), there were no available time slots for dinner. And if you decide to splurge and do their Michelin Special, you won't regret it!!! My husband and I are on a crazy foodie tour starting in Copehengan and ending in Amesterdam. We have been to several Michelin restaurants, and this is one of my favorites so far (and we were at some highly rated restaurants in Copehengan so this is saying a lot).

Food was average, to be honest. Not bad, but not memorable either. I expected more based on the reviews. The atmosphere was nice though, and the staff were friendly. Might give it another try on a less busy night.

My husband chose this restaurant for a special dinner on our first night in Amsterdam. He chose it because of the venue, a house built in 1614, and for us to try Dutch cuisine. We both had the 7 course option, and by the end of it we were very full from all the food! Every dish was special, using locally sourced ingredients and presented beautifully. Each dish was explained by the waiter, who was very knowledgeable and very attentive! The courgette and the milk and honey were my favorite. 10/10 I recommend!

Located in a house of the 17th century, in divided ambients, the restaurant 'only' offers tasting menus, 6 - 8 courses, if wished with the wine pairing (which I absolutely recommend!). Beautiful old building from 1614 with attractive dining rooms. Business attracts many foreign visitors. We had a very comfortable seat on the first floor. Full attention from the professional and casual service. Everything that appeared on the table from the 7-course dinner was beautiful, a layout with great attention to detail and, importantly, very layered and tasteful. If you appreciate fine dining this is the right place.

We celebrated my birthday with dinner at "de Silveren Spiegel". It was the best birthday dinner I have ever had. 8 courses that were a delight for both the eye and the palate with fantastic wine selections to complement. 4 hours in food heaven!

Just amazing all round. Welcoming, warm staff (family run), the most beautiful historic building in the centre of Amsterdam (ok, red light distinct, but don’t be put off) and some of the best food we’ve had in a long time. The young chef (the owners’ son) is incredibly talented. We couldn’t stop talking about it. Easily the best meal you’ll have in the Netherlands and probably most of Northern Europe too. How they don’t have a star yet is beyond me. Please go if you can!

Now this place needs to be on everyone’s culinary checklist when visiting Amsterdam. I was there in December and only now getting around to writing the review, but I still remember how lovely my meal was. I went in for lunch and i was one of two tables being served. Harry and Chris served me and they were both so lovely. Every dish wowed me with the complexity and the flavors. Hope i can go back one day. 😊 If i had one small bit of feedback, it would be that the sorbet dessert was underwhelming. But literally every other dish was so superb i will give them a pass 😅 The fact that i still think about my meal there shows you what an impression it left! It seems other diners feel the same way!

The service is impeccable and the servers are attentive. The cuisine is very refined, and the flavors are present and balanced. The wine is delicious and the pairing is very well made. We had such a wonderful meal here on our first night in Amsterdam. The service and vibe is so friendly and welcoming and the building is amazing! The bread is fresh out of the oven and amazing. We had the 5 course tasting menu and they did lovely vegetarian variations of all the courses for me. The kohlrabi dish blew my mind! Can't recommend this place enough.

The Silverin Spiegel is a culinary cozy jewel in the heart of Amsterdam. The service was sublime, location really amazing. Located in a building from the XVII century and retains all of its allure, perfect blend of the 1600’s Dutch arquitecture with an elegant minimalist decor. The food was wonderful, modern and yet not too fru fru, devoid of that modernistic stuff, but very relevant, contemporary and simply wonderful. A must go. Sadly and I guess thanks to Instagram, and others, there are few locals eating here, this is becoming a theme in Europe, where iconic restaurants are now just where tourists come

From the warm welcome and the charm of the waiters to the absolutely excellent food and wine, De Silveren Spiegel never disappoints.

This will live on as one of my most memorable meals ever. The food was gorgeous and every bite somehow seemed to get better and better. The flavours and textures were inventive and on point in each and every dish. I really enjoyed the variety of fish, vegetarian and meat courses. The French champagne and wine pairing were fantastic with the dishes as well as stand alone. The Chablis served with the Sint Jacques course I think might have been my favourite, though it's hard to choose! We visited at lunch time, so maybe lost a little bit of the evening glow but the building is so historic it's still a magical setting. Of course the lunch menu offered a good price point. The 5 course including amuse, champagne aperitif and wine pairing was $165pp. Our server was very welcoming, passionate and informative. We will for sure be back!

We celebrated new year 24/25 here with a wonderful dinner and wine fest! Several courses and they were all amazing on their own. Beautiful presentation and with every course a short explanation of what we were about to eat. Everything paired with amazing wine. For midnight we got sparkling wine and fun accessories to wear and enjoyed one of the most festive new years I have experienced! The Dutch really knows how to celebrate! Al twee jaar sluiten mijn vriendin en ik het jaar af met een lunch op oudejaarsdag bij dit fantastische restaurant. Dat zegt veel, want we zijn geen mensen die vaak twee keer naar hetzelfde restaurant gaan. Maar dit restaurant heeft ons hart gestolen. De kwaliteit van het eten is uitzonderlijk. Elke gang is een ware beleving met zoveel aandacht voor smaak, presentatie en detail. We hebben vaker bij sterrenrestaurants gegeten, en wat hier op tafel komt, doet daar absoluut niet voor onder. Toch draait het niet alleen om het eten: de warme sfeer, de persoonlijke service en de oprechte gastvrijheid maken het compleet. Onze complimenten gaan uit naar het hele team. Van de keuken tot de bediening, iedereen zorgt ervoor dat het een onvergetelijke ervaring wordt. Dank jullie wel voor twee prachtige jaren vol culinaire hoogtepunten. For two years now, my boyfriend and I have been closing the year with lunch on New Year's Day at this fantastic restaurant. That says a lot, because we are not people who often go to the same restaurant twice. But this restaurant stole our hearts. The quality of the food is exceptional. Every course is a true experience with so much attention to taste, presentation and detail. We have eaten at Michelin-starred restaurants before, and what we serve here is in no way inferior. Yet it's not just about the food: the warm atmosphere, personal service and genuine hospitality make it complete. Our compliments go out to the entire team. Cozy, authentic, feels like it's full of history and it is! Fine dining (with a little price tag, sure) but really with a wow feeling. Taste explosions and full of class🍴 You can sit downstairs or upstairs. The building is higgledy-piggledy, but that's why it has something to it :) Cheerful (possibly gay) men in the service. Speak English and Dutch. Loved it here! Perfect for a chic celebration or work dinner. Close to Amsterdam central. They also have a lovely matching wine arrangement, I always take half glasses, starting with a bit of bubbles, wonderfully cozy!🥂✨ There are even paintings of Mr. Mirror and the walls are decorated with classic frames and, of course, mirrors 🪞 Recommended!!🌟🌟🌟

Excellent restaurant fait pour le repas de noël. Des plats d'une grande saveur, une carte des vins à la hauteur. Il est incompréhensible que le Silveren Spiegel n 'est pas encore obtenu à minima une étoile au Michelin. Nous avons fait de nombreux étoilés en France qui n'ont pas les qualités de ce restaurant.

Echt een fantastische avond gehad! Zulke mooie gerechten met heerlijke wijnen erbij. De uitleg van de gerechten en wijn, daar spat het plezier vanaf. Je dineert in een ongedwongen sfeer, ze doen er alles aan om je te laten genieten, je bent echt gast! Culinair journaille...wakker worden!

We went there for lunch for Christmas. It was truly a magnificent experience. 5-course Christmas menu with wine. Presentation, product quality, taste, variety, service and wines, everything was really at the top level. This restaurant deserves 2 Michelin stars without question. The boss is infinitely kind and full of humor. Even the bread was very good and yet for us French it is a sore point ;)

Best place I've ever been to in my life!

A beautiful restaurant in a wonderful atmosphere, very friendly and very service-oriented staff. Enjoyed a fantastic dinner with beautiful matching wines. I think this is one of the best restaurants in the Netherlands. In any case, I will come back here more often

What an exceptionally good restaurant this is. The tastiest and most beautiful dishes are served there. The service is friendly and correct and, importantly, cheerful and pleasant. This restaurant is highly recommended and we would love to come back.

We greatly enjoyed this 6-course culinary experience on Nov 26. Host/sommelier very engaging and our server was insightful as she delivered and described our dishes. Exceptional evening - highly recommend!!

I will never get over my night at de Silveren Spiegel—I dreamed about it that night. It is more than worth the price from the service and presentation, to the symphony of flavors with each bite. My girlfriend and I had the seven-course dinner (which was essentially 12 different items) and ordered wine separately. The dishes appear small, but they are the "Hermione's Purse" of flavor and satisfaction. Menu is attached. The one resting on a white, textured rhombus, I couldn't begin to describe. I have no ability to describe flavor—I'm sorry. But when I tell you I left my body for a moment, you MUST try this. None of this meal disappointed. Trying to pick my least favorite dish feels unnecessary and difficult. It would be like trying to pick my least favorite song on a great artist's album. If you are in Amsterdam, you have to go to this restaurant. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable (and could make it graspable to a novice like me), and even gave history of the 17th century home that houses the restaurant. I literally have zero critiques. Dates, small family or group (2-4 people) dinners, a deeper way to celebrate life, this special place is perfect for it all. For the price paid—€328 for two people—for the breathtaking experience we had, for the way I am still, over a week later, thinking about this dinner, I am more than happy to write this review.

Wow! What an evening. Every dish from amuse bouche to mignardises was just incredible. The presentation, the taste, the combination of flavors and products were so on point. We loved the service as well and the wine pairing was great. Had an epic dinner. I want to thank everbody for making this evening a very special one for me.
