We were refused entry because we were not allowed in smart casual attire, even though a cyclist in a tight outfit was ‘twerking’ in front of the windows. Apparently, you are only allowed in here wearing Nike Tech.

We were with a group of friends, but we were denied entry because we were dressed too “smartly.” Meanwhile, someone in a spandex cycling outfit was twerking inside the tent. We were told that this is stated in their house rules. But after checking, this is not the case. “Maintain a well-groomed appearance by shaving, getting a haircut, and the like. Sportswear and sweatpants are refused except on Sundays.” That really takes the cake with what a trashy place it is.

VERY poor service. We cancelled in May 5 days before the scheduled date and to this day we still have not received our deposit back. There were four of us planning to come for dinner, but due to circumstances this could not go ahead. We paid a deposit of €20 per person, but the deposit was never refunded. We have emailed about this several times and received a response only once. But not our money. Since there are no cancellation terms on your website, you are now unlawfully withholding our deposit. Please respond so that this can be resolved.

Loud, crowded, unpleasant music, and it smelled a bit like sweat. Didn't stay inside long.

I had to pay for a Bucket Stelz, then I checked my account later and 141 was debited. Never coming here again, they just rip you off.

Mega rude staff. I'm from Amsterdam myself and had to catch the train, but I was IN HARD OF MUST wait until the club closed to be allowed to retrieve my stuff from a locker. So I waited for an hour (until 4:15, and I'm a girl who had to travel home alone, which I also told the staff), missed the train, and I arrived to finally grab my stuff and all the lockers were completely ransacked and everything was lying on the floor. I then searched for my stuff (including passport, AirPods, bag) for a maximum of 5 minutes, and I was told in a very unpleasant way that I wasn't allowed to look any further and had to leave. Then I explained for the 20th time that I don't live here and was looking for my passport etc., and I was told that this wasn't their problem and that I really had to go and wasn't allowed to look any further. This is a real shame... didn't know people could be so unempathetic...

Rarely have I eaten so badly, but it was fun!

This was my first time here and I am never coming back. What started as a fun evening with some “friends” spiraled completely out of control. We felt like going out and headed to this club. At first, it was okay, although it was very crowded — but that is to be expected, of course. Next, a friend and I wanted to order two beers. The bartender suddenly charged €14. I had ordered quickly and only noticed it at the last moment, but by then it was already too late. After that, we were suddenly given two cans of liquor that we hadn't ordered at all. I indicated that we just wanted two beers and asked for my money back. Instead, he gave us two beers anyway, but he just wanted to keep that €14 — in my eyes, pure theft. I asked if we could perhaps get two extra beers or something else, but instead, the bartender grabbed the card machine and wanted us to pay an additional €7. Even though I had already paid €14. After a lot of back-and-forth talking in the crowd, he started ignoring us and said: “Good luck with that.” I reacted angrily, whereupon he immediately called security. I thought: fine, I’ll wait it out calmly. When security arrived, I raised my hand to indicate that it was about us and that I just wanted to talk — not fight. But without really listening to us, the security guard immediately started pushing and shouted: “Get out!” I remained calm and said that I didn’t want a fight, just a conversation. Still, he kept pushing and it became increasingly aggressive. At one point, he grabbed me from behind and pinned my arms down while he wrestled me outside. Out of reflex, I grabbed him by his jacket too, because I had lost control myself. Eventually, we were kicked out. My friend wasn't even allowed to get his jacket back. Two hours later, we came back, hoping it would be quieter (there was only staff left). We went inside and I immediately said calmly that I didn't want a fight, but only wanted to pick up my friend's coat — he was very cold, you see. Nevertheless, we were immediately sent back outside and pushed again. To be honest, I found it difficult not to call the police, but I restrained myself. As far as I'm concerned, this is a truly scandalous club and I advise everyone against going here.

Pub known for ripping people off when paying at the bar; security goes along with it and kicks you out if you say anything about it.

I went out with friends yesterday. I put my jacket in a locker and wanted it back around 3 o'clock because I wanted to go home. The only problem was that the door to the lockers was closed. When I went outside to ask how I could get my jacket back, security said I could pick it up at 4 a.m. or in the morning. To which I replied, a bit irritated, that I thought that was a weird rule. Security then told me to shut my fucking mouth. Furthermore, we weren't allowed back inside. My friend eventually managed to get inside with a lot of effort and asked at the bar if he could have his jacket back, which, once again, wasn't possible. After a lot of hassle, we finally got the jackets back. What a weird place 1/10. I wouldn't recommend anyone ever go out here. I'd rather walk into the grave than set foot in here again!!

A security guard wouldn't let us into our night out because someone earlier in the line tried to commit ID fraud. It wasn't our fault, but it kept 10 people out. It's a shame about tonight; he ruined our night. No more going to see his friends.

We had a fantastic evening with our group of 50+ friends. The interaction with the mostly younger guests was also fantastic. A big shout-out to the two enthusiastic waitresses and the singer. Fantastic!!

We were at the bar on a Tuesday evening. It was busy, the atmosphere was good, and a beer cost one euro.

They behave very disrespectfully with the customers and did not let us in from the entrance. We came here as tourists from Turkey for two weeks, and the man said that only Dutch people can enter.

Came there to have a few drinks, first round was 16.50 euros. Gave the guy a 20 and 10 note, I thought I gave him 5 and 10 and gave him some coins. They were standing at the cash register for a while which I thought was a bit strange. Eventually I got €3.50 back. 15 euros for hot air, since the club was also worthless. The guy behind the bar takes advantage of people who have had a drink, definitely not recommended. (The guy also tapped the worst beer I had ever seen)

Bachelor party with 14 people. Nice atmosphere and we enjoyed ourselves. Shots are cheap crap. The live singer was not really an added value.

Food was good. Staff was nice, did their best to entertain the group. Only we could not enjoy it because of the music. The music was so extremely loud that we really would not go there again. Unless you want hearing damage or tinnitus. Still a ringing in my head from it.

Contacted in advance whether it was okay for 18 people to party for a nice evening, or spend a lot of money. It turned out to be no problem, provided we were present around the agreed time. We arrived well on time, but upon arrival it turned out that the bartender had not served us immediately. Accessories had to be taken off, because this would attract far too much unwanted attention. Don't make too much noise, for the few people who were still eating. Obsessively monitoring whether we were following the rules, while we were just quietly having a drink and a few people were standing outside smoking. Also says he knows nothing about our arrival even though the email contact has still been shown. All in all, not a nice atmosphere to come and celebrate a bachelor party, so we left quickly.

The hot food was not hot enough, at least not all of it. The fish and pasta were lukewarm to cold. Everything else is great! Very nice and friendly service and nice music and the singer did a great job! We had a great evening 😀

Jacket with airpods was in a locked locker. Wouldn't open it even though I could write exactly what was inside. Going home without a coat. I emailed them to see if it had been found, because I come from far away. She didn't want to do it "because a lot of stuff is left behind every evening" (also says something about the wardrobe situation). We drove 2 hours specifically to look at it at 10 o'clock in the evening, and there were only 2 found items. I don't think they were even kept separate, just left near the lockers. So pauper tent

The Friends is a nice café, the swear is good at music. The DJs are highly recommended to me. Just come every day. It's fun, the nicer the nicer the bar staff are, great

The curly-haired man was being very smart and then threatened that if we did something wrong, his strongest security guards would “forcefully” throw us out. He also called himself one of the largest entertainment venues in Utrecht, and the other cafes were only minor players. Don't go! Chupitos is much more fun.

The security guards thought themselves quite something. We wanted to have a quick drink with 16 people to have 1 drink, but then she wanted to let us know that you don't enter anywhere with 16 people. (We have already completed 17 holes where we got in everywhere with our pub golf) In addition, I don't think they appreciated the fact that we were gay... terrible ball.

What a completely hopeless store. If you bring in sales with 16 people, some fat immigrant will make a fuss about the dress code. Get some good Ebola yo. Fortunately, there are several bars in Utrecht so you can skip this one. Especially do it. This won't make you happy.

We wanted to come for a drink. The security guard was incredibly aggressive out of nowhere. We made a joke about a colleague having to show ID even though he was 40. He then calls me darling, to which we say that's not okay, he pushes/hits a colleague and shouts. We left. Perhaps the security guard should take an aggression course.

Great to meet the hockey team. But don't expect anything special. Nice and affordable and the DJ was open to request songs😁.

I was badly prevented from entering. I tried to talk to the security guard, but I think the security guard had orders from the owner of the place not to allow anyone who came alone. I will never visit it again. .

Unreasonable and unkind bouncer. I was no longer allowed to go inside, even though everything was inside and so were my friends (because it was supposedly too late, but I had gone outside for 3 minutes to look for a friend). This made no sense at all.

Had a wonderful evening with 8 ladies during the festive dinner! The food was very tasty, the service top notch and a live singer who rocked the place! Highly recommended if you like a party and good food!

Great nightlife, never had dinner here. Curious how that works? Furthermore, the music may be a bit on the louder side, I recommend this place for people between 18 and 23. Super fun today was rolling the dice for free drinks!!!

Guards are really bizarre. I left the club without warning on Thursday because a friend of mine put on sunglasses inside the club. When we were put outside (really without warnings), we were not even allowed to pick up our coats that we had put in a locker and were told that we had to pick them up during closing (04:00). Again: BECAUSE A FRIEND OF MINE PUT ON SUNGLASSES in the club. As an emergency solution to this, I had a stranger pick up my coat (which I did get back this way). Something really needs to be done about the guards. They honestly just abuse their position. This can not be.

Kicked out of the tent because I was wearing sunglasses as a joke. I was grabbed out of nowhere and sent away while my coat was still inside, I was supposedly warned, this was not the case. I wasn't supposed to pick up my coat until after 4:00 AM (it was 12:45 AM). I would avoid this place, security guard thought himself quite something and took great pleasure in unfairly turning people away. I've never experienced anything so rude!

I went out here on February 13, 2020, and what was supposed to be a fun night out will have consequences for the rest of my life. I developed tinnitus and hyperacusis this evening. They didn't have earplugs anywhere. I suffer from it every day to this day. The volume is really too loud. I really don't recommend going out here. And for anyone who goes out, regularly or not, because it was my first time without earplugs, please wear them because it is a huge hell you will end up in. I'm just 18 years old and I have to live with a constant ringing in my ear until the end of my life because this club has turned up its music so terribly loud.

Super leuke avond gehad, eten vrienden en muziek, love it

Het was een avondje uit, dus heb er niet gegeten. Qua muziek en gezelligheid een leuke kroeg!

Mega gezellige tent met leuk personeel en een hele toegankelijke baas. Wij hebben van te voren goed contact gehad om te zorgen dat we er met 130+ man naar binnen konden. Wij hebben de avond van ons leven gehad en komen zeker nog een keertje terug!

Eerst paar keer in Utrecht hier heel gezellig uitgeweest. Ik sta met mijn tipsy mond altijd tegen iedereen te lullen waar de portiers en het barpersoneel heel goed op in ging! Ze zijn heerlijk snel en op woensdag een biertje voor €2,- ook nog een mooi prijsje in de crisis haha

Heerlijke avond gehad met leuk personeel achter de bar. Portier was aardig, heb wel eens anders meegemaakt. En op woensdag maar 2 euro voor een pilsje, kneiter lam naar huis gegaan!

Nou, ik moet zeggen, De Vrienden Utrecht heeft zeker wat te bieden! Die gastvrije portiers gaven ons meteen een relaxte vibe. De kluisjes waren echt handig voor onze spullen en de snelle drankjesservice zorgde ervoor dat we volop van de avond konden genieten. En man, die Woensdag bierdeal voor €2? Serieus, een koopje. Dus als je een chill avondje uit wilt in Utrecht, geef De Vrienden een kans!

De portiers zijn supervriendelijk en zorgen voor een goede sfeer. En die kluisjes zijn echt handig, je kunt je spullen veilig opbergen terwijl je geniet van de avond. Wat echt top is, is de woensdagdeal: bier voor maar €2! Een geweldige manier om je avond betaalbaar door te brengen. En je hoeft niet lang te wachten op je drankjes, ze zijn snel bij je. Prima om uit te gaan indien beide kanten open zijn. Anders veel te heet en een constante stroom van mensen die naar de wc gaan en terug naar de bar waardoor er alleen maar gedouwd wordt. Wel leuke muziek!
