As pizza lovers, we've tried many pizzerias here in the city, but this was the best of all, even out of many places in Italy! Highly recommended if you want authentic Italian food in Amsterdam.

This place is an absolute charmer – a small, intimate spot with a cute, welcoming interior right in the heart of Amsterdam. I picked it for my birthday dinner because I don't eat pizza often throughout the year, and I wanted to celebrate with my loved ones over a truly special slice (or two!). I was particularly drawn to their sourdough pizza, made with in-house dough using a long fermentation process that gives it that signature tangy, complex flavor. What makes sourdough pizza better than regular dough? The natural fermentation breaks down gluten and starches, making it easier to digest and less likely to cause bloating, plus it has a lower glycemic index for steadier blood sugar levels – all while delivering a crispier crust and richer taste that elevates the whole experience. We started with the carbonara pizza and Italian sausage pizzas, both bursting with authentic flavors – the carbonara was topped with the runny yolk and perfectly balanced, while the sausage had that ideal flavour. We also shared an order of meatballs smothered in the most delicious, rich tomato sauce; it was a highlight that had everyone reaching for seconds. The portions were generous, the service friendly and efficient, and the cozy vibe made it feel like a hidden neighborhood favorite. For two adults and our 12-year-old boy, including a 10% tip, the total came to just 67 euros – fantastic value for such quality Italian fare in the city center. Overall, a delightful experience that left us full and happy. Highly recommend for pizza lovers!

My mam and I came here for dinner on our first night in Amsterdam. The food was gorgeous, we got caesar salads, fresh bread, bruschetta and roasted potatoes to share. We ordered a bottle of the Pinot Grigio to share, it was delicious. Everything was amazing! The staff are so kind and welcoming, truly an amazing team! I would definitely recommend and will 100% come back when I’m in Amsterdam again.

Cozy Italian restaurant-pizzeria in the centre of Amsterdam. It has become one of our favourite places for many occasions, also the special ones. Food is great and the floor staff is always lovely. Congrats to the owner who chooses a staff that takes good care of the costumers. 🍀

Nice place. Friendly service. It wasn't busy, but the food was served very quickly. Dessert arrived after 45 meters. After clearing the starter plates, the main course arrived immediately. The three meatballs weren't great. The bread and tomato sauce were. The beef cheeks weren't great. We wanted another coffee but received the bill. All in all, not great.

Tiramisu is to die for, amazing staff working there, actually the best waiters I met during my three years living in the Netherlands. So caring

The best lasagna I've ever eaten

On Saturday, 15 November, I visited Demetra with a friend who had made a reservation for 18:30. The restaurant is quite small, which gives it a cozy atmosphere, but the table we were assigned was extremely cramped and the space between the chair and the table was so tight that it was almost impossible to sit comfortably. One of us had to sit awkwardly just to make enough room for the other. In addition, there was a very loud group seated right next to us, which made it impossible to have a normal conversation. For bites/starters, we had some bread and focaccia. The bread was very good, but the focaccia didn’t seem fresh and was quite chewy. Throughout the evening, we noticed the staff checking on us repeatedly. After a while, it stopped feeling like attentive service and instead felt as if they wanted us to leave as soon as possible. The food we ordered was nice, but during dessert an employee brought us the bill without us asking for it, which strongly reinforced this impression. I was very surprised, as this has never happened to me before. What made the situation even more disappointing is that when my friend made the reservation, there was no mention of any time limit for our table. If the restaurant needed to free the table for another reservation, this should have been clearly communicated when we arrived. In total, we spent at most one hour at the restaurant, and what should have been a pleasant, relaxed evening with a friend ended up feeling rushed and uncomfortable.

The pizza was unforgettable. The crust perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside, and the cheese melted in your mouth. Every bite was layered with flavour, and you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients. The pasta was WOW. It danced on my tongue - rich and silky. The staff were welcoming, attentive without ever being pushy, and clearly proud of what they serve. This is authentic Italian food made with love.

This was by far the best experience I’ve had at an Italian restaurant in the Netherlands. The pizza was outstanding, with a light, delicious dough that was simply perfect. The pasta was incredibly flavorful—you could taste the freshness and quality with every bite! Our group of 4 decided to sample a variety of dishes, ordering four different pizzas and a pasta. We intended to take some leftovers home, but everything was so delicious that we ended up finishing every last bite, and surprisingly, none of us felt overly full or heavy afterward. Despite being satisfied, we couldn’t resist ordering dessert, and it was absolutely worth it. The tiramisu was the best I’ve ever had, and the panna cotta was equally delightful. Overall, it was a perfect Italian dining experience that left us all feeling happy and satisfied. Highly recommended!

Amazing food and service was perfect

Even for my low expectations it was a total mess. I ordered a pasta with sausage and mushrooms sauce, but it was poorly served with just a few pieces of mushrooms in it and no sausage at all. When I asked if it’s supposed to be like that - even before I asked my question I’ve been asked multiple times if I’d like to have my order remade which is very weird. I said no and I asked straight question - is it supposed to look like that or no. The guy said yes, but after some time he brought a small pane with extra sauce and apologised that it came so late. Then just before we finished main course they gave us a bread. Only because tiramisu was great I gave this place 1 out of 5. An extremely expensive beer and poor service makes my evening out with my wife wasted. Never come again.

There were 12 of us, and the owner was able to get us a seat in his establishment in just 10 minutes. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food is great and the desserts delicious! The burrata was too dry and lacked richness. It was more like a dry mozzarella. The main course was too small for the price more like a starter. The bread was good and needed it in order not to leave hungry. Noisy place and feels cramped. Nice staff and quick service. Considering the price and quality, I cannot recommend this restaurant

Highly recommended! We were there in early October and had excellent pizzas, but the other dishes at the nearby tables looked equally appetizing. Special mention goes to all the staff, starting with the owner. They're Italians who welcomed us with the typical warmth of southern Italy. Thank you guys, we were happy to be your guests!

This place is run by two Italian guys. The pizza is truly delicious. It's a deep-sided pizza, but it's cooked to perfection (in an electric oven with a refractory brick surface). The ingredients used are excellent. The leavening is perfect. The result is a tasty yet light pizza, easy to digest. I hope the guys grow up quickly, so they can expand the place a bit.

This evening we had dinner at this restaurant-pizzeria run entirely by young Italians. To our pleasant surprise, we ate as if we were at home. Highly recommended, the pizza, as well as the tiramisu!!! If you want to feel at home, this place is highly recommended!

I followed the glowing reviews left here and ate there as a couple. I had a BRASATO AL BARBERA & TARTUFO, which was very good. My wife had a pasta dish, which wasn't bad, but it was a portion more suitable for a child, and the meat in the sauce was sparse. I hesitated over which glass of wine to choose. The waitress gave me a taste of Valpolicella to help me decide; it was very good, so I chose it. A waiter arrived with a tiny pitcher of wine (not the bottle), which he poured into my glass, which only contained a little (for €10!!), and when I tasted it, it wasn't the same wine at all; it was a heavy, staining red. My wife and I were of the same opinion. Fortunately, I had it changed without any difficulty. The waiter told me he had prepared it himself. I'm willing to believe him, but he didn't get the right bottle. If you order wine there, ask for it to be poured into your glass in front of you! Once, but not twice.

Went there on 12th July Pasta noodle is all handmade - so super super fresh! We had the truffle ravioli and ragu pasta, absolutely delicious and satisfied our cravings !

We had dinner at Demetra this evening, and I can absolutely say it's the best Italian restaurant in Amsterdam. The pizza was delicious, the kids loved the tagliatelle Bolognese, and we loved the ravioli and truffle risotto! Andrea was also incredibly kind and gave us excellent advice. We'll definitely be back!

Simply brilliant! Excellent location, great atmosphere, and spotless. You feel immediately at ease. The staff is excellent, especially the Italian waitress, who contributes greatly to the authentic atmosphere. The food: extremely delicious! The pizza is one of the best I've ever had: crispy base, fresh ingredients, perfect flavor. The open kitchen is also a highlight: you can directly see how freshly everything is prepared, which builds trust and shows there's nothing to hide here. The value for money is truly excellent. The people were really nice, and the food was excellent. The tiramisu is truly delicious and so big you could even share it. My father gave his meal an 8/10, which is unheard of for him. We even went there twice during our time in Amsterdam, so I can only recommend the restaurant. The waiters are super friendly, which makes the place even more pleasant. <3

I walked into this restaurant and was greeted with a “Welcome” by one of the waitresses. She even let us sit at a table without saying a word about any reservation. A few minutes later, another waiter came up to us and, without any apology or basic courtesy, told us “Sorry, you didn’t reserve — get up and leave.” Excuse me? Is this how you treat your guests? We were completely embarrassed in front of everyone, and no one bothered to explain or offer a solution. It was rude, unprofessional, and frankly disgusting behavior. If reservations are required, train your staff to inform people before seating them — not after humiliating them publicly. I would never come back here and I genuinely advise others to avoid this place if you expect basic respect and hospitality. Shameful.

A small pizzeria with excellent pizzas; the dough is very light and airy. The 'Budel' dishes are highly recommended. The service is very attentive, and the dessert and espresso are just as they should be. Advance reservations are recommended.

Literally obsessed with this place. The pasta with burrata?? UNREAL. So creamy, so fresh—it felt like a hug from an Italian grandma I never had. The margherita pizza is simple but hits SO hard. You can tell they use quality ingredients, and everything tastes homemade in the best way. Also… the staff?? Insanely sweet. They were so welcoming and kind, and they actually cared if we were enjoying the food. It made the whole vibe feel extra cozy. You know when a place has good food and good people?? Yeah, that’s this place. Definitely coming back. 10/10 would recommend if you’re craving pasta and good energy.

This little place is so awesome!! We reserved our table 20 minutes before arriving and had the best experience. The place was busy and lively but we were helped instantly and the food came extremely quickly. This honestly was probably the best service I’ve ever had! The food was also delicious!!

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The waiter was rude and unprofessional, making us feel completely unwelcome. At one point, their attitude was so careless, it felt like they didn’t care what they were serving. Because of this behavior, we simply stood up and left. I hope the management takes this seriously and works on improving their staff’s attitude and overall service.

Incredible restaurant! Super quality products, fantastic service, we had a great time as a family, the pizzas are delicious with a super airy dough! And what about the desserts, the tiramisu is stratospheric and the pistachio canolo has an impressively light ricotta cream!!! The decor is also all Italian, connoisseurs will not miss the signed Raspadori jersey! In short, a real trip to Italy this restaurant. I 100% approve
