Even though no end time was stated on the reservation, we were asked to vacate the table for other guests. The food is okay.

The food was good, but the restaurant reeked of urine and beer inside, and the service wasn't very friendly. There were 12 of us, and when some of us wanted to pay, they laughed at our request to split the bill, saying it wasn't possible and one person had to pay for everything. Outrageous!

Delicious every time. The best restaurant in Zoutelande. Vegetarian options are also available. Unfortunately, they don't offer plant-based milk alternatives.

No matter what we ate or drank, everything was delicious and served piping hot. The beer was always ice cold. The coffee was always hot and served with a smile. The staff was very friendly, and even with slight communication difficulties, there was always something to laugh about. We love coming back again and again, sometimes two or three times a day.

We had a delicious meal. The spare ribs are highly recommended.

We ate here for the first time today and were absolutely delighted. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely. We sat in the covered outdoor area under heat lamps. It wasn't very comfortable.

It is always nice to sit outside, it doesn't matter what the weather is pleasant.

Highly recommended! We wholeheartedly recommend Eetcafé Royal in Zoutelande! The food is consistently excellent, and the fish dishes in particular are simply delicious – fresh, expertly prepared, and a true delight. The selection of beers and other beverages leaves nothing to be desired. We would especially like to commend the entire staff: everyone is exceptionally friendly, attentive, and courteous. Another big plus for German-speaking guests is that the staff speaks excellent German, so communication is no problem at all. You simply feel comfortable and warmly welcomed here. We will definitely be back and can recommend Eetcafé Royal to anyone who wants to enjoy a good meal and a pleasant evening in Zoutelande. We give it a clear 5 stars – highly recommended!

Had a super delicious meal! The service was super friendly and nice and fast!! The food was very tasty and more than enough! After dinner, went up the dike for a nice photo.

We sat outside but stayed cool thanks to the air conditioning. It was perfect for the weather, although something like that would be unthinkable at home. The drinks were served quickly, even though it was busy. The food was very tasty, although one chicken satay skewer was not quite fully cooked.

A fine eatery/restaurant for a quick, average bite. Good value for money. There is plenty of staff present, but the service comes across as chaotic in terms of planning and tasks. Usually, tables are divided into so-called sections, with each staff member serving their own 'section'. That did not appear to be the case here. It wasn't bothersome, mind you, but it could be done more efficiently. The result was a soft drink that wasn't ordered, the wrong main course, and the accompanying drink. Fortunately, this was quickly rectified, as these things can happen, and it was resolved professionally. Otherwise, the meal was fine.

An excellent restaurant right in the pedestrian zone of Zoutelande.

At first glance, it looked like a nice little terrace with air conditioning... it was 31 degrees and yet chilly... And the staff were friendly too, but my buddy and I still ordered mussels!! To our surprise, we received a large pot for 2 people! But okay... they really weren't tasty and were prepared very small with leeks and a little onion and hardly any seasoning... a disappointment, certainly in Zeeland!!! If we are starving and there is nothing else, we might go again, but certainly not for mussels 😜

After placing an order with a waiter, another waiter came to ask what we wanted. When I mentioned that we had already ordered something, I was told that I might as well have said hello and that nothing had been ordered at our table. So we placed the order a second time... fortunately, it was only delivered once. Otherwise, it is a pleasant terrace. The Aperol Spritz could have been a bit stronger.

Early in the morning, I was walking past the shops and needed to use the restroom. At this eatery, they didn't make a fuss, even though I wasn't a customer at the time. For that reason, after our day at the beach, we walked straight to this restaurant for a drink and some bar snacks, nice and cool inside in the air conditioning. The service was top-notch; all the drinks arrived quickly every time, and the snacks were tasty. That's why we decided to stay for dinner right away. Once again, delicious food; the fries were very tasty, the meat was tender and delicious in its own gravy, and dinner was served quite quickly too. Restaurants in locations like this are often poor and impersonal, because the tourists will come anyway. But this was absolutely perfect from start to finish and absolutely delicious!! And huge compliments to the amount of really nice staff walking around, who really worked their legs off to serve everyone well. Oh, and the terrace is large and is also air-conditioned; truly brilliant. We will definitely be back!

We ate delicious mussels. The Flemish mussel sauce that you had to pay extra for was certainly not our mussel sauce. (We are Flemings) It was more like our mayonnaise with pepper.

The waitress served with her hair down. Not very hygienic in the hospitality industry. The waiters were paying (too) much attention to each other.

A truly fantastic and cozy place! We easily made a reservation online for six people in advance, which worked perfectly. The menu offers a great selection, so everyone found something they liked. Across the board – whether burgers, salads, or the typical kibbeling – the food was fantastic and fresh. A big compliment to the staff as well: the service was not only incredibly friendly but also remarkably fast. We'll definitely be back!

I had a delicious meal, but I find it very annoying that the waiters keep asking if you want something to drink even though you’ve just ordered from someone else. They have a small device where they should be able to see that. A tip: they should check it a bit more often.

The side of fries was a flop – there's definitely room for improvement in terms of both quality and quantity. The sea bass, however, was very well prepared. The steak cutlery provided for the fish main course was poorly chosen. Perhaps this restaurant excels with other main courses? I find it difficult to recommend this restaurant. We've definitely eaten better in Zeeland for the same price; it's a shame.

We ate here today, the quality was good, however, 18 euros for such a small portion of spaghetti Bolognese, which doesn't fill you up, is very expensive.

Very friendly staff and good, fast service. The mussels were the worst I have ever eaten.

Two ladies had mussels, one man a schnitzel, and I had a hamburger. The mussels were okay, the schnitzel was okay too, but the hamburger was nothing. I opened the bun and there was a lettuce leaf underneath and a little sauce on top. One bag of fries for two people, ridiculous. The tables and chairs are very close together, and that at 35 degrees. Never again.

We've been here three times in a row today, and we'll be back again tomorrow. Fantastic! The kippling and shrimp are excellent. Great value for money! The staff is very friendly and attentive. The outdoor air conditioning is perfect in this heat.

Normally, I am not one to write reviews, but due to this incident, I have no choice but to do so. I am very dissatisfied with the service we received today. Initially, we pointed out that there was mold on the bread. She took the bread away, and a short time later, we received new bread without an apology for the inconvenience. Subsequently, this also had mold on it. After reporting this again, she reacted very rudely, and after a brief discussion, she offered us a drink. We subsequently did not receive new bread, which we didn't dare eat anyway. Then, my 2-year-old son stepped on a piece of glass. The lady placed two plasters down and walked away without looking back. We had expected more empathy. Never again for us.

A nice and very cozy terrace, an extensive menu with something for everyone. Reasonable prices compared to other establishments and very friendly service. Very nice staff; no matter how busy it is, you never have to wait long. We will definitely come back here again.

Had a nice meal here. Sat inside given the poor weather.

We ate fries with mussels; many of the mussels were broken and also closed. The fries were terrible, lots of small, hard pieces; it looked like leftovers that had fallen out of the basket. My wife ordered pasta with chicken; it was lukewarm and very meager for the price you have to pay.

We were very disappointed. The food (various burgers, schnitzel) was—apart from the pizza—quite overpriced and also presented without any care. The three of us had to share the side of fries in a paper cone, which was rather meager. The cocktails were also quite watered down. The service was disorganized and not particularly friendly. It seemed they wanted to get rid of us an hour before closing time; they were already sweeping and vacuuming around us while we were still eating. At least the food arrived very quickly, and the restaurant itself was nicely decorated. Perhaps we just caught them on a bad day—what a shame!

We're sitting here right now and everything is great – delicious, fast, and friendly. Anyone complaining here is just having a bad day, which can happen to anyone.

I have been going to Royal for years, but the last few times have been disappointing. There is a lot of young staff, some of whom have no manners. The atmosphere and experience are completely lacking, and on top of that, after their shift they sit next to you slurring their words over Rosé.

Food quite pricey considering what is offered (quality and quantity). Specialty (flammkuche) tough (wrong type of dough?). Compensated for this. Atmosphere not really cozy (large TV on the wall showing football/Formula 1). Messy impression.

Eetcafe Royal has a very pleasant atmosphere. Since we arrived quite early in the evening, getting a table was no problem. The service was quick and friendly, and the food and drinks were of good quality. The prices are in line with the restaurant's standard. We were completely satisfied. Update from March 2026: Eetcafe Royal is still highly recommended and a great place for delicious food and tasty drinks. The friendliness of the efficient staff was also a pleasure. We will definitely eat there again on our next holiday in Zoutelande.

Not recommended. The waffle was a complete disappointment, and the pancake tasted like old oil. Only the ambiance was appealing. The food is significantly overpriced and of a quality more akin to fast-food fare. This place has nothing to do with "Royal."

We each ordered pasta, one with chicken and the other with salmon and prawns. We found the salmon dish a bit bland, but it was okay after adding some salt. The other dish was very tasty. The prices of €20 and €22 respectively are high, but typical for the Netherlands. The atmosphere is very cozy, and the staff is very friendly and attentive.

Food is very simple and you sit on top of each other

Everything was perfect here. They didn't have any pizza or tarte flambée at the time (we didn't ask why; perhaps the pizza oven was broken). The spare ribs were really delicious, and the pasta was too. The atmosphere was lovely, with flowers on the table, and the service was very nice and friendly.

The location is fantastic. Zoutelande Tripel is great too, by the way, but the bread platter is rather meager... (I just ate one while taking this photo.)

We had reserved a table for Boxing Day and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. There was plenty of staff around, so we were always served promptly. We were very pleased with the food, both in terms of taste and value for money. The portions were ample and well-balanced. We were pleasantly surprised by the Café Royal for dessert. It's highly recommended. I was only briefly confused when the coffee arrived first, followed by the dessert about a minute and a half later. But it was all right. This wasn't our first visit, and it certainly won't be our last. Adding a bottle of wine does increase the price slightly, but you can always just order a glass.

The service and atmosphere were great, but the food was far too little for the price. So little, in fact, that we had to eat somewhere else. Much too expensive.

The food was okay, but unfortunately there wasn't enough of it. My partner and I paid €67 and we weren't even full. We had to go to the supermarket afterwards to get something to eat, which was disappointing.
