Delicious food, great service, nice atmosphere. Better than a cafe, dishes you can't make at home. The sashimi is buttery soft! The wines are excellent. The service is super attentive.

wish this place was open on sundays that’s my only gripe! would be the most perfect spot for a Sunday dinner.

What a fantastic discovery, this cozy café! We had a truly delicious meal here. I enjoyed a perfectly prepared chicken: tender, full of flavor, and pure. The accompanying sauce was delicious and truly elevated the dish. My dining companion opted for a fish dish that was equally flavorful – everything was perfectly prepared. The atmosphere in the café is warm and inviting, and the service was friendly and attentive. With a good glass of wine, it was an evening to savor. We will definitely be back!

If you are visiting amsterdam this is a must visit restaurant. Had a three course meal, each course was incredible. I will go here everytime I visit Now. The ambience is great, the staff were superb.

An absolute gem! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We discovered Eetcafé Schotsheuvel by chance and it instantly became one of our favorites. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming you feel comfortable from the very first moment. The menu may be small, but every dish is prepared with care and tastes fantastic. Compliments to the owner and the kitchen! The two staff members were exceptionally friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Great value for money considering the quality. We’ll definitely be back highly recommended!

The food looked really good and the taste was decent. However, one of the dishes we ordered — the pork belly — was a bit too dry, so we couldn't finish it. Still, I'd recommend coming here to try it out

A nice, quiet corner location. Food is good, although nothing out of this world, as is their service. Beer selection is very good. Best of all is the quiet outside terrace corner location in a residential neighbourhood with little traffic.

Steak and corizo salad were perfect. Cozy ambiance and kind people were great too.

The cozy ambiance and well prepared cuisine at this neighborhood eatery are marred by the minuscule portions and smug, oblivious, or perhaps just incompetent waitstaff. We ordered bread, staters, entrees, and sides, and still left hungry. It took over an hour for our entrees to arrive after the starters—and this only after a host came to our table to ask how things were going. When we said we were wondering where our orders had gone off to, they returned not long after with them, but without any explanation or even the smallest hint of an apology for the very long wait. An unfortunate experience, not recommended.

Have eaten here several times. The atmosphere in this restaurant is relaxed and you really feel welcome by the super friendly reception. Nice staff with attention, that is sometimes different. The food is really tasty and pure in taste in a good price/quality ratio. Good portions; sharing is allowed but you can also keep it for yourself 😉. You can also quickly sit outside on the nice terrace. In short, recommended.

I thought the food was a bit disappointing in terms of price and quality, dishes were served cold and tasted fairly easy. I would come back, just a great place.

We had a very nice evening at Schotsheuvel. The atmosphere is welcoming and offers the possibility to stay long and enjoy a relaxed evening. The service was friendly, but could be a bit more professional. The food was tasty, but was served on cold plates, which made communal dining a bit more difficult.

Mijn ervaringen zijn wat wisselend. Ik eet hier zeker 1 maal per maand, vooral omdat de bediening zo vriendelijk is en snel. Atmosfeer is ook warm en de akoestiek is goed. Dwz je kunt goed met je gezelschap praten en iedereen verstaan zonder hard te moeten praten. Dat maak ik vaak anders mee. Het is voor een eetcafe goed maar waar ik in het verleden regelmatig vlees at ben ik daar na de laatste 4 maal echt meer opgehouden. Er staat kogelbiefstuk op de kaart maar het zal wel een rund op leeftijd zijn want je moet je mes en tanden wel eerst goed slijpen of het gewoon in zijn geheel doorslikken. De saus erbij en garnituur is dan weer prima. Niet veel: 3 kleine aardappeltjes en 4 boontjes maar perfect klaargemaakt en net genoeg (als je ook een voorgerecht neemt). Op zich een aanrader maar als je een vleeseter bent kun je hier beter geen vlees bestellen

A good eetcafé I. Amsterdam zuid. Had the sukade which was soft and tasty. Had to wait longer than expected, how ever this is not an issue as the ambiance is good.

My last dinner in Amsterdam and I'm glad I stumbled upon it! Highly recommend, a more chill local-ish residential spot. The hen was cooked perfectly, loved the 2 sauces that come with the bread, the carrots are over a pine nut cream, and we ended it with a cheese plate! Solid wine selection here too.

We had a great dining experience at Eetcafé Schotsheuvel. We ordered the sea bass crudo (which was AMAZING), the corn chicken, and the ball steak. The food was delicious, service was excellent and friendly, and the atmosphere (we sat outdoors) was lovely. Highly recommend!

Welcome to an amazing little restaurant, Eetcafe Schotsheuvel, which serves sashimi, grilled asparagus with poached egg, a delightful negroni, and real dutch chips that are just right. The restaurant is in expat territory so you'll hear many languages. For me two vibrant Americans were chatting about life, jobs, and alike and as being american I wouldn't call it ease dropping as much as observing and enjoying the daily banter. We kindly sent each other a round of drinks, a simple hello and a new story for our journal. She hailed from Miami through New York and he reminded me of an old friend. The atmosphere is warm an inviting feeling like you stepped into a romance novel. Then there's the food. I'd recommend it all so just pick what peaks your interest, start with a few items, sit back and enjoy. Brewster Powell

Very cosy! We suddenly ended up here and first sat at the bar, then ordered and shared some different starters. It was delicious! Very nice, sweet lady behind the bar!

Waited 1 1/2 hours for food that didn't arrive. Staff were initially super friendly and the place had a great atmosphere so we were anticipating a great night, but slowly came to realise that service was terrible and ended up leaving without eating.

Well, this is a tough one. The atmosphere and ambiance are excellent and the conviviality radiates towards you. But you cannot make a reservation and if you have agreed with a group of, for example, 6, you have to wait at the bar until everyone has arrived! the tables and chairs are more suitable for a nursery school and you are really squeezed into the square centimeter like docile sheep. Hardly normal to sit in the back for someone of normal height or slightly taller. At 1.91 m tall, I left feeling devastated. The orders were processed messily and extras were delivered too late. My main course was completely forgotten. It was very busy there and perhaps there was a shortage of staff. The service really did its best. I usually like the four and five stars and I skip lower, but maybe it will help? It is such a typical case of many yuppies who take everything for granted. This could really be improved, especially the clutter of tables and chairs that are too tight is not good. Normally I put here the Dutch text in english but I guess you can translate it eith Google? I would advise it before you go. It's a typical Dutch brown eat-café (pub) with a light french bistro ambiance but the the seating and tables are more fir kids. The food is okay the prices are relatively high. They got some work to do to end in 4 or 5 star category I think.

Schots has the atmosphere of a cafe and the food of a luxury restaurant. Every detail has been thought about, the food, the service and of course the great decor.

There was nothing to complain about the food, but it took a very long time before it was served. There was more than an hour between serving 2 starters and 5 main courses. The waitress was very nice and at one point came to say that it would take another 5 minutes, but in the end it still took at least 20 minutes. The fries were not served at the same time as the main course, but only when we were already halfway through our main course. The tables are very small. You're super close to each other.

Visited for lunch and I was disappointed with the service. The waiter forgot about our drink order and also made a mistake with our food order. The food(we had sandwich&salad) is definitely over priced for what you get. Maybe a nice place for just drinks but I’m not impressed with the food quality.

We have sashimi and carpaccio beforehand. Halibut as a head with fries and lettuce. Everything was really delicious. Top staff which makes the atmosphere very warm and cozy. This will be my new spot!

We had dinner there last Thursday evening with 4 people. The food was delicious with refined flavors, and the service was attentive, kind and fast. The interior was very cozy and cozy and there was a good vibe, with a mix of old and young, all with the aim of enjoying each other and the food. Be sure to arrive on time because it is completely full after an hour. Small tip: maybe more options for vegetarians, especially if you come more often, but the menu may change regularly.

A bit disappointing. Service extremely friendly; carpaccio delicious, but shasimi substandard, not fresh. Glass of Pinot Noir ice cold, therefore no taste. All in all not value for money. Once but never again…

I had dinner here 2 years ago with my family when we visited Amsterdam. We loved it. This week I was back in Amsterdam and decided to walk memory lane so I went back. I loved it even more. Very warm cozy and at the same time trendy, welcoming and fun. Besides the great atmosphere the food is excellent and reasonably priced. It is a perfext place for a nice dinner in fun place with friendly people who enjoy excellent food. I highly recommend.

We actually came for 1 drink and then hopped on to another bar, but ended up staying the whole evening. What a wonderful place! So atmospheric, such friendly staff and the food is also excellent. I will definitely come back, I'm a huge fan of this place.

I was in Amsterdam to visit for the half marathon race and this restaurant was very close to my hotel and they recommended it to me for lunch. Excellent service and delicious food. If you go, be sure to try the pastrami sandwich, which is like the house specialty and is 100/10! The waiters are super friendly and very well priced!

The ladies that served us was very attentive and polite. They mentioned the menu has just changed. We had the carpaccio and bitterballen for starters. The carpaccio was definitely the highlight of the meal. The truffle flavour was quite subtle but still delicious. I like how they added the seeds to add some texure. The Bitterballen was crispy and delicious. For mains i had the steak, slightly chewy, and a bit salty. The vegetables were a nice side. My friend had the redfish which was beyond delicious and I wish i had that instead! The sauce was creamy, the fish was soft and moist, I like how it was matched with black rice. For dessert with had a raspberry sundae, It was a layer of cake, raspberry ice cream on top and mini meringues around the side. I loved the interior, I feel like ive travelled back in time I really like this place and would defo come back again when I am back again.

Eetcafé Schotsheuvel is the restaurant I stumbled upon on a late summer night realizing that Amsterdam is a city of small hidden culinary miracles. A simple dish of halibut is magically transformed into a delight and a plain flank steak becomes an unexpected surprise. The restaurant’s big flaw: the starters were all finished by the time we arrived. And it wasn’t late.

Decent hidden gem with pretty much everything we had on the menu being tasty. Able to accommodate a larger walk-in group of 8. The mains were all delicious. The sashimi, which seemed like a random menu item, was delicious. Service was typical for Amsterdam and friendly.

Beautiful food, though not big portions. You can't book, just walk-ins, so you might have to wait if there isn't a table. It is in essence a small cafe with a few inside tables with most tables outside. It is NOT cafe food, it's proper restaurant quality - and priced accordingly!

gezellig, goede service, helaas niet mogelijk om te reserveren. Druk bezet, vrij lang gewacht. Heerlijk eten. Bij drukte wel extra navragen of bv je drankjes eraan komen. Logisch, geen probleem.

Wat je ook komt doen bij Schotsheuvel, uitgebreid dineren of gewoon een wijntje aan de bar het is altijd even goed en gezellig. Zeer attente en leuke bediening daar kan menig ‘concurrent’ in de buurt nog wat van leren:-) Top!

Great little French bistro. We were looking for a pre-concert dinner near the Concertgebouw and came across this gem of a place quite by accident. Both my husband and I ordered the bavette steak, which was cooked beautifully and had a wonderful flavour, and went very nicely with a rather good glass of French red wine - surprisingly good! The star of the meal however was the pudding - a deconstructed blackcurrant cheesecake which tasted of summer. I grow blackcurrants myself and very much appreciated the fresh and clean flavour of fruit which had been frozen when in season and then brought out to tease us with a little hint of summer. Absolutely delicious. In terms of atmosphere, this cosy restaurant/bar was bursting at the seams when we left to go to our concert at 19:30. Excellent prompt service. We will definitely return.

We had a nice dinner at Schotsheuvel yesterday. The sashimi might have been the most tasty dish we ordered; we shared this appetizer. We also ordered the bavette (flank steak) and lamb. Also had two glasses of wine and a soda and ended up paying just over €100. We liked the food and the meat was good quality.

We were wondering about to find a cosy restaurant to go eat before going to concertgebouw and stumbled on this beauty. Very good staffing and incredible food! Its one of the few places where "rare, medium and well-done" are understood by the chef. Would definitely go again!

Delicious food for dinner or lunch (recently discovered they make a delicious dame blanche desert) and very cosy interior. Staff are friendly and attentive. They don’t take reservations so get there earlier (5:30/6) if you’re wanting a spot on a Friday evening when they’re busier.

Ein wunderbarer Ort zum Genießen und sich willkommen fühlen. Wir waren bei unserem ersten Besuch so begeistert, dass wir uns gleich ein zweites Mal die köstlichen und außerordentlich hochwertigen Speisen schmecken ließen und das in einer offenen und herzlichen Atmosphäre. Ein großes Dankeschön an die Küche und die freundliche und sehr aufmerksame Bedienung. Wir waren super zufrieden und empfehlen diese Lokation sehr gern weiter.
