A cozy spot near the Rijksmuseum, perfect for a break while exploring the city. We happened to pass by and decided to stop in. It was pleasantly packed with both locals and tourists. There was a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere; clearly a place where people come together to enjoy themselves. A wonderful experience that truly rounded off our day. Definitely a place we'll return to.

A good restaurant with a very welcoming atmosphere and excellent Dutch cuisine to discover. A good wine list, including Italian wines, and moderate prices.

A great cafe/bar with a retro feel

A wonderful place in Amsterdam where we had a delicious lunch. We were with a group, and everything was well organized. I'll definitely come back for dinner, and I highly recommend this location for drinks too. The staff was efficient and knowledgeable. All in all, a great experience.

I was here yesterday around 1230pm. The old guy serving the 2nd floor ( not sure if he is even the owner(, is not so friendly. People are all waiting and since we don't have a menu yet, we asked for his attention. He was already shouting and he is like walking all around in a very rush way or even stress. The 2 women seated beside us were already taking about the negative reviews here in Google. I also saw it prior coming but i wanted to see it myself as it could just be one time case. But true enough, not a pleasant stay. And no, i won't be coming back. 2/5 start as i still want to give credit to the food served to us which is just ok. Nothing special overall really.

A lovely and lively spot in Amsterdam. We ended up here with friends during a visit to Amsterdam. We had a pleasant time and a delicious meal. We'll definitely be back.

We visited the cafe twice. We sat outdoor with sunny sky with the warm weather. We enjoyed the vibe with the falling yellow trees. The apple pie is so delicious. I like the mint tea the most.

The staff here clearly don't care about their business. Tonight at 8:30 PM, there are four staff members, but no one bothers to clear empty glasses from tables that haven't been occupied for over 30 minutes. Bittergarnituur (a type of snack) wasn't available at that time either, even though they don't close until midnight. I won't even mention the state of the restrooms. I've worked behind the bar for 20 years, and I would have immediately fired my staff if they treated my business like that.

Bartender was extremely rude. He was very annoyed because I asked for another drink straight after an initial order. Talk about hating on the extra bit of business. Also, he didn’t move out the way for me when I was carrying a load of drinks to the table, as he was more interested talking to his locals. I’d avoid because of him. Just put me off on another order.

The woman behind the bar was completely unservice-oriented and lacked any kindness. Her attitude was unprofessional and disinterested, which made the whole experience very unpleasant. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it.

Over the past year and a half, this restaurant has deteriorated dramatically, both in terms of service and food.

terrible. it was not busy, we came in around 15:50. we get ignored, no one even brings a menu. a couple walks in around 16:00. they immidietly get served. we waited another 15 minutes and then just left. as someone who worked as a waitress and a bartender, i’ve never seen such bad quality service before. very unprofessional! price wise, a distater. 20€ for one burger.

Just down the street from the RijksMuseum campus, the café was a great place to relax, watch the people and the canal and have some great food and a beer after a full day at the museum. We had ribs and a burger. Both were well prepared and served out on the street at a little island of tables they offered. Perfect.

Had a few drinks and some delicious snacks here last week. The service was friendly and fast. It was a bit pricey, though.

This restaurant was ironically unlucky. A waiter behind me spilled a drink all over a lady. I got stung by a bee and another waitress dropped a glass which shattered. It was like being in a comedy movie. The waitresses checked my finger that got stung and brought me ice, I appreciate her concern. I ordered the salmon which was delicious, my son got ribs very tasty. A little pricey but not outrageous, scenery is amazing. A memorable experience overall.

The food is amazing. If you visit the Rikjes Museum, grab a lunch here. Service was diminished, but it seems they were having problems with their payment devices. I had the veggie burger and it was fantastic.

They don't let you eat in the room where you enter, and people are eating at the table next to you.

Good food! Praise for the kitchen. However, the service is beyond praise. We had a hard time ordering – they didn't seem to know the starter or main course. We received everything together, and the tables are very small. All in all, okay; if the service were a bit more courteous and thoughtful, it would be very nice.

This place is great! Very quiet and ambient place. The waiter had a very professional tone, the dishes are great with deep complexity and umami. The wagyu might be expansive, but it’s worth trying.

We chanced upon this interesting corner pub/restaurant with a lovely name of Hansel n Gretel. It was crowded, with tourists and locals. We stopped by for a beer after a canal cruise. Location is great as it’s just across from the Ruijkmuseum and right next to a canal. We sat outside in the patio. The beer was served nice and chilled. There was a group of boisterous locals who were having a great fun time. One had put on bunny ears and a bow tie and a cotton tail. I had such a good laugh as he and his friends were laughing and having a great time. . What a lovely group of friends in this friendly pub restaurant. Made my day for stopping by Hansel & Gretel. Will drop by again.

Table was not clean and restrooms were awful. Food was average.

Worst experience. Sad and depressing atmosphere. We ordered carpaccio. When it arrived, we asked for olive oil. They told us they didn't have any. The service was incredibly confusing, and the servers were clearly irritated and had no patience to take our orders.

The staff is super friendly and the food is great! 😊 We had a fabulous time at the restaurant. We want to come back again soon.

I had a deeply disappointing and upsetting experience at this restaurant on August 5th, around 6:00 PM. My wife and I arrived and took a seat, but we were completely ignored by the waiter for over 20 minutes. I called him twice and received no response. The third time, I had to raise my voice just to get his attention. When I asked for the menu, he brought me a wet one and walked away without a word. We waited another 20 minutes, but he never returned to take our order, even though he continued to serve all the surrounding tables—all of whom were white European tourists who arrived after us. It became painfully obvious that we were being deliberately ignored. Eventually, I called a different waitress. She came over briefly but offered no solutions. She simply told us that the drinks we asked for were "unavailable" and claimed that other options were also "unavailable." Her tone and body language made it clear that we were not welcome. My wife wears a hijab, and I truly believe the treatment we received was racially motivated. This was not just poor service—it felt like open discrimination. We wasted over 45 minutes of our time being dismissed, ignored, and made to feel completely unwelcome. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and addresses such discriminatory behavior. No one should be treated like this.

I had to wait over 20 minutes before anyone came to take my order. Then, instead of the hot chocolate with whipped cream I'd ordered, I was served cold chocolate. The drink was also brought on a dirty tray, with a spoon that was visibly dirty.

After waiting for much too long to place the order we left the local and serach for something were customers get served. No one seemed to brother that we're leaving without placing an order.

The food is passable, nothing surprising. But the service, that was simply bad.

We were in Amsterdam over Pentecost and had lunch at Hansel and Gretel. The city was very busy, and we had to wait a few minutes for a table, which was perfectly fine. Despite the rush, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was very good without any frills. We'd love to come back!

nice place, the bacon pancakes i got were hella good and i appreciate them giving u an entire bottle of syrup (could’ve gone poorly) - they explained they made a mistake w my order but it meant it took a while to come and it didn’t arrive at the same time as my companion. overall very solid.

A touristy and busy corner for good reason, great location to people-watch while sipping a beer by the street. Food and service are basic Amsterdam standard.

Ended up at Hans en Grietje after a walk with a big appetite, on the advice of the waitress we chose the spareribs. The plate arrived well filled: salad for a healthy feeling, fries tasted too much like potatoes and a nice portion of ribs. The spareribs themselves? Well… they looked good, nice color, but they wanted to stay on the bone a bit too much. Personally, I like ribs that spontaneously fall off the bone when you poke them. The taste was okay, but lacked some spice or character. I call it spareribs in midlife crisis: not boring yet, but not adventurous either. The service was friendly, but here too you can see that people still need to be trained.

I went there for breakfast this morning. The food came quickly and was delicious. However, we waited 15 minutes for our drinks and even asked for them again. The prices are a bit high for what you get.

Being near the Rijksmuseum, we thought it might be too touristy but it was good for, though service was a tad slow.

We went with excitement after making a reservation. However, we were a little disappointed. In order to be fair to the place, I would like to start positively, the hamburger was really delicious. The tomato soup was like hot tomato paste and the pancake was a really rubbery crepe. It was one of the worst crepes I have ever eaten. In terms of service, our request to split the hamburger in two since we were going to share it, our beer order that we had to remind several times, and our requests such as can you bring an extra spoon were all forgotten and despite our repeated requests, we could only get the beer. The spider crisis at the table next to us also caused some anxiety

I've been here a few times before, it was very cozy then. I heard that it was taken over and when I went there again last week I noticed a completely different atmosphere. The food is still good but the staff is cold, unsociable and slow. A real shame for such a cozy place. It took half an hour before we were admitted, the staff looks at you and completely ignores you. I can already see the copy/paste reaction, under every review the same story. Exactly what this place describes, effortless and impersonal.

This is a pub where you can see the museum when you sit outside. The atmosphere was nice when I sat there on a sunny day. I was able to enjoy a refreshing Heineken and the food was decent.

Lugar com decoração tosca, escura e péssimo atendimento. Pedi um prato e a garçonete me trouxe outra coisa e até hoje não sei direito o que eu comi. Aliás, só há essa garçonete no atendimento. Por ter que se desdobrar pra fazer tudo sozinha, ela não traz os pratos até à mesa, mas arremessa. Pra pagar, a conta não vem à mesa nem por um decreto do rei holandês. Só indo no balcão do bar, onde 3 rapazes estavam conversando animadamente e o cliente que se vire com a garçonete de mil e uma funções. Quando saí, senti um enorme alivio. Se estiver por perto do Rijksmuseum, evite este lugar!

We could order a whistle. As soon as we asked for a pancake we were referred to the menu straight away. The bald man behind the bar was the most grumpy guy we have ever encountered on Ascension Day. Let's hope that another place can make up for this festive day. Have a nice day, and see you soon at Aunt Roosje!

We ordered french fries and tomato soup. Everything was served very quick and fries was one of the best we have tried in AMS.

Great food, friendly and attentive staff and big portions for relatively cheap prices given it's Amsterdam. I would say great value for money and on a sunny day the outdoor seating is dreamy. Would recommend!

They didn't serve us and we only went for two hot chocolates, because according to the person who served us they were collapsed.

No! Worst service of our whole stay in Amsterdam. 4 items ordered, 2 of them delivered wrong, 1 totally forgotten... Additionally the sice of the cheesecake is really tiny.

You really need to improve the food or get another chef You would think that Hansel and Gretel pancakes are good, they look like rubber, are not fresh and arrive lukewarm. Salad also doesn't amount to much more lettuce than chicken. Furthermore, there is a nice terrace for a beer And from the looks of the review, I'm not the only one

One star for having a bathroom. One star for being able to snag a table, although it was right by the intersection so car exhaust was constant company. This is a place to order drinks. Any drinks. The food was from meh to inedible. Avoid the pancakes. Awful.
