such a shame, a half and hour waiting our food and comes cold other plates dont come and the extra bonus they at the end ask for a tip sadly we visit this place the last 3 years and definitely we dont recommend this anymore

A lovely Italian restaurant with outdoor seating overlooking the bustling streets of Amsterdam. Excellent homemade pasta and tomato sauce. Great burrata, delicious lasagna. Not cheap, but definitely worth the price and highly recommended!

The food was tasty and plentiful. The service, however, was downright poor. Ordered drinks were forgotten, and ordered starters didn't arrive until well over 45 minutes later. The website states "dine within one hour" for a theater visit. They absolutely could not live up to this. We had to wolf down our food and had no time left for coffee or dessert. According to the owner, it was very busy; in our opinion, the overall experience was far below par.

Lied to by the host “manager” to selfishly close down the restaurant early and go home. If that’s the operating model, update the restaurant reservation availabilities online so you’re not wasting patrons’ time who are going out of the way to visit the restaurant - it’s disingenuous to the restaurant owners! Had an 8:15 reservation, walked in at 8:23 and was told by the hostess that greeted us that a table will be set up and checked on. The host “manager” walks out of the kitchen at 8:27 to tell me that it’s the restaurant’s policy to close down the kitchen when a reservation is 10 minutes late - and all Amsterdam restaurants run the same way and offered to recommend nearby pizza places to go to instead. I told her that it’s impossible that she closed down the kitchen 10 mins after when we were standing there waiting by the hostess table and greeted by one of her coworkers at 8:23 and she is making up lies to go home early. Waste of our time and left a bad taste in our mouth when she said this is Amsterdam’s restaurant policy - which was a condescending comment. Do better.

We arrived on Monday and the hotel guy recommended this place to us, so we went. It was really great and the girls were very kind and helpful in understanding us. I recommend it.

We ordered the avocado and courgette salad, penne arrabbiata and steak and everything was so delicious. Table at the outdoor terrace is great for people watching and dining in the summer. Had a fabulous time.

Wonderful place just off the Main Street. Eat outside or inside. The service is great and meals just right. Light soft jazz music. Friendly cozy place for a relaxing evening meal.

Delicious pasta options especially the lemon Ravioli, Spaghetti Bolognese and the French fries! The staff were super friendly and helpful, thanks to Costanza, Ivana, and Persy. I would recommend this place to literally everyone planning to visit Amsterdam.

Tourist trap. I ordered the Neapolitan pasta woth burrata. The sauce was too acidic and sour. Almost as if it was tomato pasta and not real veggies. Service was good though. And desserts were okay.

Good food. Good atmosphere! But the service is terrible. They take too long to serve the table. You have to order everything at once. The waitress forgot a lot of things we ordered. To come here you have to have a lot of patience to eat what you want. Honestly, they should train Brazilian waiters to know how to properly serve a person.

Service was excellent, fast, and helpful. The food (regarding the two dishes we ordered) was downright bad. The Frutti di mare pasta was a thick tomato sauce with lots of garlic, salt, and some pieces of seafood that were completely undetectable in terms of taste; the fish soup was even saltier and had a strange taste... not recommended.

This place had a great atmosphere and I really enjoyed the food.

Sea food pasta was a disappointment. 2 prawns within the hole dish. Smothered in tomato sauce. The girl voided me who served me after I highlighted it to her. Any good restaurant would have brought the dish back to the cook to fix. There are better places to eat in the area.

A perfect lunch or dinner place if you are looking for good pasta. The outdoor area is really nice, located close to the museums. The vibe and the service were great. 10/10. the staff is extremely friendly, I particularly appreciated that I could use one of the tables inside while in a work meeting so that I could have some more privacy. We wait for 15min. Nobody come to ask for order. Ther waitress come and turn of the candle, and go?? Still no service. After 10min firefighters came?! Nobody tell us nothing, and no service, noo food, no explanation what is happening. I think, it was gass leek. So we went outside. Still nobody aproach to us to. So we go home... Really bed expirience and not good service from the staff.

Absolutely terrible experience at Pompa. My mom and I went there for dinner on our last night together in Amsterdam, and what should have been a special evening turned into a complete nightmare. From the beginning, the service was disorganized. We had to ask for glasses, and when our food arrived, there was no silverware at the table. Things only got worse from there. I ordered the tagliatelle chicken al pesto for my mom, but they brought her the tagliatelle with truffle oil and funghi instead. When we pointed out the mistake, the staff apologized but told us there was “nothing they could do” because the kitchen had already closed. No manager came over to speak with us or attempt to resolve the issue. The only alternative they offered was lasagna, even after we explained my mom doesn’t eat red meat. Then they had the audacity to say that if she chose not to eat the incorrect pasta, she simply wouldn’t have to pay for it — as if that somehow fixed the situation. I ordered the carbonara, which was bland and lacked flavor completely. Honestly, both dishes were disappointing. At the end of the meal, the cashier — apparently unaware of the situation — asked how everything was. I told them it was not good, and once again, nothing was done beyond another empty “sorry.” I live in New York and have worked in hospitality for 15 years, so I fully understand that mistakes happen. But what matters is how a restaurant handles them, and this place completely failed to take accountability or make any real effort to fix their mistake. To make matters worse, we still paid the full bill, and after everything, they still turned the screen around asking for a tip. And lastly, the carbonara made me sick the next morning. Really awful experience from start to finish. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

The food was quite ravishing and the ambiance very pleasant! Service was good as well. A bit on the pricier side but that did show in the quality!

What can I say... extremely disappointed. If you drink sparkling water, the San Pellegrino had plenty of time to get lukewarm on the table. The service was disorganized. My friend's drink never arrived. The service was rushed. The sauce for the ravioli al limone was good, but unfortunately, the texture of the ravioli itself was much less so. The pollo alla Milanese is best avoided if you don't want a mediocre breaded chicken dish that you'd find in any mediocre brasserie that has nothing to do with Italy...

While in Amsterdam, we had lunch at this restaurant after visiting the museum. The waitress was kind enough to find me a gluten-free option (the seafood soup was delicious). My son was delighted with his pasta carbonara. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a pleasant atmosphere, perfect for conversation. I recommend it!

We had a great lunch, the sandwiches were tasty! Unfortunately, very few gluten-free options.

We popped in for a coffee, which was good. Staff were very friendly, only regret is that I saw the lemon meringue pie on display after we'd paid & were heading off, that looked amazing & I'm sad I didn't get a chance to try it!

Five stars! Located next to the Van Gogh Museum, the best food is the crispy fried seafood, and the kids love the fries. The environment is comfortable and elegant, and the waiters have lovely smiles!

We've been to Pompa Bar again, and it continues to be one of the best places in Amsterdam to enjoy its atmosphere, service, and excellent food. Its great location, friendly service, and good food, along with reasonable prices, make it a place you'll want to return to every time, leaving with wonderful memories. Very surprised by the good quality of the food! The pasta sauce was very simple but incredibly tasty, and the pasta was perfectly al dente!

We had lunch here, and while the food was fine, the service and pacing was really messed up. My partner and I ordered two pasta dishes and a starter, and one pasta did not arrive. We waited for a long time while my dish (carbonara, it was fine) got cold, and only upon asking the waitress, she said the kitchen had mixed up the order and had to remake it, and it would be out very soon. Half an hour later his pasta was still not there, and again only upon asking we would be told that it would be "out in teo-three minutes". Aften even ten-fifteen more minutes, at the end when we were fed up, done with all the food for a while, and hailer her and said we needed to go, she finally went to the kitchen and brought out the second pasta. The table next to us also had two people's food out while the same happened to the third person, again with no explanation until they asked. We also had to ask for water three times before someone brought it. Be aware of this and plan for a delay if you go. We didn't ask for anything or make a fuss, but what was most weird is that instead of comping something from the bill, they gave us four of the tiny round cookies that accompany the coffee as an apology...almost insult upon injury. When we refused this and gave it back, they said "we can't do anything else, the owner is not around" and then almost passive aggressively, "we are human". Similarly the people next to us had a bad experience with their extremely delayed food, with no amends made at all. The staff are not to blame, but some better training, and better management practice, is needed before they can reach an acceptable level of service. Definitely ruined our day out for a while.

Atmosphere is nice but it's overpriced. I paid 23 EUR for 7 ravioli, the quantity are not there. Bottle of water for 8 EUR. Unfortunate cause service and atmosphere is nice.

Disappointing experience ordered lasagna obviously frozen and not properly heated cold in the middle brought it to attention of waitress who did apologise and said she would replace .I was stunned when 5 mins later the original was reserved by a waiter no apology and rather than ruin the evening for all I did eat it . I had dinner here after a long day at the museum. I ordered Fritto di mare and Carbonara, the seafood was well seasoned and cooked well, the Spaghetti was delicious as well. It’s a bit odd that my antipasti and primo were served on the table together but I wouldn’t mind. The overall atmosphere and service were great!

My mum and I had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant. The service was very professional and kind from the moment we stepped through the door. The food was excellent, and the vibe of the restaurant blended very well with the dining experience!

I ordered a carbonara and it tasted so good. I demolished it within 10 minutes. There was some miscommunication on my drinks order, but the staff was very helpful and friendly and helped me to fix it immediately.

Extremely disappointing! Yesterday I paid €24 for a plate of pasta ravioli, and what did I get? Only five pieces of ravioli on the plate. I seriously thought I'd accidentally ordered a children's menu, but no. It's absolutely ridiculous that you pay the equivalent of almost €4.80 per piece of ravioli. For that price, you expect a decent portion and quality, not a plate you can finish in five bites. This is a completely absurd price-quality ratio. You feel more ripped off than you did at a restaurant. Absolutely not recommended!

They don't have high chairs/baby chairs/baby booster seats. I can't comment further.

Lunch on February 8, 2026 The food was delicious, good value for money. The mango lemonade was nice, and the raw beef was very good but a bit pricey. Still, I recommend it! The Italian sauce was sweet, which I personally liked. The tiramisu was delicious! The minor drawbacks were a constant, faint smell of smoke, and the staff in the dishwashing area kept slamming dishes. We ate in the adjacent basement, and the noise was a bit loud.

Stopped here for lunch on our visit our food was amazing full of flavor. It’s a small relaxing atmosphere and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable.

We had a mediocre experience for an excessive price (92 euros for starter and pasta dishes for the 2 of us). We were seated in the lower section (kind of cellar) where you could see the kitchen. There was a really cold draft there, as if a window was open, but we could not see it. It was full otherwise, so no option to move away from that. We had two burrata salads which were already 16.75 each for a starter! The taste was good though, but for what it was it felt overpriced. Then as a main/pasta course I had the lasagna (22.50), which was delicious (would recommend) and my wife the spaghetti carbonara (24.50). I don’t know if there was a mistake or if this is always the case, but the bacon/meat and the pasta were super salty, such that it stings your tongue, just like seawater does. My wife didn’t finish it and I tried some myself as well, but could not manage more than 1-2 bites either. The mango passion fruit lemonade had quite weak flavours. At first I thought the server made a mistake and gave me the mint version (there was a mint leaf as decoration), but after careful tasting I could maybe recognise the passion fruit a little. The orange juice my wife had was okay. Besides our own struggles with saltiness we were distracted by an order mix-up for our neighbours, a French speaking father and daughter. Their order had partially landed on another unknown table, although wasn’t charged to them in the end. They got offered a free drink and to have the missing dish they ordered after all. This was also carbonara, so we were surprised they didn’t complain about the saltiness. Perhaps some people do like it, but for us it was definitely too much salt. It may seem like we were spying on our neighbours, but we could hardly avoid their conversation with the waiter as they were practically sitting with us at the table. There was only a narrow gap between the small tables to get to the couch/bench. When it came to paying there was no opportunity for feedback (no “did you enjoy your meal?” or something), just here you go, you can pay and prompted with how big a tip I wanted to give on top of the already, in our view, excessively high bill. There was an option to give no tip luckily. Although the waiters could learn a thing or two in hospitality and keeping track of orders, they were kind and I could see they were doing their best. I do however think there are also some choices from the management and the chef that could have influenced our experience for the better. Overall would not recommend in its current state and operation.

Every bite was rich without being heavy, bold without trying too hard. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, the kind of place where time slows and conversation stretches a little longer. It wasn’t just a great meal it was nourishment, the kind that feels both familiar and special. A beautiful reminder that when food is done right, it doesn’t need to shout.

Dear Pompa chef and manager I looked forward to a wonderful tasty warm bowl of pasta carbonara . What I received yesterday was the standard of a 5 year old kid whipping up something to eat. Terrible terrible pasta : too salty , a strange metallic taste , rather dry and deepfried pieces of bacon, not enough or extra parmesan etc You should look into the basic training of your chef or chefs . Send them to Italy or to a proper cullinary institute to learn proper cooking. Kalbas

A very nice place. We arrived 15 minutes before they opened and they let us in to warm up. The food is delicious. The cappuccino was very tasty, and they bring it with a cookie. I recommend this place.

We came because we saw it had very good reviews. When we arrived, they informed us that a reservation was required, but in a very kind way they found a spot and made room for me and my family, which we truly appreciated. The food was delicious. The spaghetti bolognese was excellent. The truffle pasta is highly recommended. The chicken pesto pasta was also delicious. Honestly, everything we tried was great. The only two things I think they should improve are being a bit more attentive to the tables when serving and not making the customer stand up to pay with Apple Pay or a card. Other than that, it’s a highly recommended restaurant with really great food.

The staff were all friendly, and the atmosphere was cozy and nice. I ordered the Aglio Olio; although it was labeled "chili" on the menu, it tasted like something I’ve never encountered in my life—bizarre. It was on the level of a "Pepper Lunchino terror." I don't know if they tampered with the food, but they should probably change the name to "Pepper Lunchino Pasta." It was just spicy with absolutely no balance of flavor. Is this perhaps racism?
