Nice place to stop for a drink if you are going somewhere

We found this cafe on our second last day in Amsterdam. We had great breakfasts. And the granola is fabulous, not to be missed. It's on the Dam, so all round a great place to eat, enjoy some down time and a chat with Jim!

Take some time to enjoy and unwind.

We found a hair in the scrambled eggs, which left us feeling less than hungry. We left breakfast halfway through. Due to the lack of hygiene, they didn't charge us for an orange juice. We spent 40 euros between two people and left feeling nauseous. Not at all recommended.

Very touristy. The food is unfortunately just okay, nothing truly great, but fine if you're just looking for something to eat, a snack, or a drink after a long day exploring the city. The staff is very friendly, though.

Super tasty food that will keep you going for a while. Fast service and observing waiters that won't let you down. Great place for natural gluten free options and a place to get you grounded in the Amsterdam city center.

Best breakfast in town I took the warm croissant with smoke salmon. Delicious and complete with cream cheese on the side and so tasty green salade with pesto and sundry tomato. The croissant was amazingly fresh. Excellent service Thank you

I've been here several times. Last Tuesday, the service was friendly again, and we enjoyed the delicious drinks and lunch. I'll definitely be back!

A nice, well-located café with a good selection of drinks and food. We sat outside, which, of course, does involve some noise due to its location, but it wasn't disturbing. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly and accommodating. They even brought us a water bowl each for our two dogs. The menu is available in Dutch and English.

At first, I thought, I'd like to have a drink here sometime. Once on the terrace, I was treated rudely! A very aggressive man slammed his glass on the table because I'd rather not have ice in my drink. I paid at the café, and he behaved perfectly; a chameleon is nothing compared to that. What a shame, it can be so cozy on the terrace! I won't be coming back; they're incredibly expensive. I could spend my money better.

We return to the ‘t Nieuwe Kafé numerous times whenever we are in Amsterdam. The food is amazing - breakfast, lunch or early dinner. It’s hard to pick our favourites but we love the breakfasts or having an awesome tostii and salad. Liv, Nicole, Lea & the ‘boys’ treat us like family! There is nowhere else I would go instead of here! Looking forward to our next trip back to Amsterdam!

Breakfast and capuccino was perfeckt..

We went only for drinks. Sat for 2 hours at a table outside. The wait staff were very helpful and the kafé has a beautiful view of the square. Very relaxing and enjoyable

I visited T Nieuwe Kafe in Amsterdam today. The café is centrally located and has a nice, modern atmosphere. The service was friendly and attentive, which was a positive. The food tasted okay—solid, but nothing special. Unfortunately, I found the prices quite high compared to the quality offered. For what was served, I thought it was a bit overpriced. If you're looking for a relaxing break, you can certainly stop by here, but don't expect any culinary highlights and should be prepared for somewhat higher prices.

Decent breakfast served at chilling cold indoor temperature. The owner claims malfunctioning heating and ventilation. If a true Dutch man may save himself just a few Euros he will do so no matter what.

Sit and eat and drink in a top location

Excellent location in Dam Square next to Amsterdam Palace. Great for people watching. Outdoor cafe. Fresh breakfast croissants and yogurt.

We stopped off at this cafe, which is conveniently located in Dam Square for a drink and a snack at lunch time. I had a latte and the wife had a regular English breakfast tea. For food I had the salmon baguette she had the soup on offer. Both the food and drinks were nice, and set us up for the rest of the day. Worth a visit for lunch if you’re in the area.

Such a busy spot, but that server was like a superman. We order the croquettes, and they were delish. The location, in the square on a sunny day, cannot be beat. Great spot to linger.

Made a quick stop on Saturday, between the “redlight district” and the Jordaan. Only had a few beers, service and hospitality was good. So I have no judgment about the food.

Went there for breakfast and wasn't disappointed. Food was very good, service was great, nothing to complain about. The cafe is beautifully designed. The prices are reasonable, the waiting time was good. In any case, I would recommend this cafe.

this was truly one of the best meals i’ve had in amsterdam, the lady who served our table was super nice and i am glad i followed her recommendation because that sandwich was fulfilling and very tasty. it’s overall quite pricey but it’s understandable considering the location (in dam square, near the royal palace and the tussuads museum) and, well, amsterdam average prices. + the beef round croquettes were HEAVENLY.

Super food with friendly service and good value for money

Had a delicious breakfast on the terrace at 't Nieuwe Kafé with a view of Dam Square. The avocado toast and French toast were delicious. Mauris helped us very well and gave us advice on what to do in Amsterdam. We will definitely come back again!

The best food we encountered being in Amsterdam, decided to make it a habit across the days we were there of visiting here. The waiter ( Robin ) gave us our same table outside each of the days. Food was fantastic. Heated seats outside with a blanket and a view across the city centre of Amsterdam. Will be back next year and visiting here again! The French toast with vanilla ice cream was the best thing we tried without doubt.

One of the most delicious toasties I’ve ever had, really good! The staff were very welcoming and attentive and the menu had some great options. The seats were comfortable and the venue didn’t feel too cramped. I would definitely come again next time I visit Amsterdam.

We went for a drink during our shopping day, many people were sitting outside but it was only 2 degrees so we sat inside. Great place for 2 people, we were in a place that could fit 10 people. This was no problem, I didn't get the feeling that we were in the wrong place. Enough staff.

Very nice café-restaurant, slightly less cheerful service. Perhaps we as Belgians are not so familiar with the direct Dutch approach and openness, but when my wife asked for a street, the waiter's response was, normal hustle and bustle, little stress, "well, madam, I am not a walking Google Maps, I come here." work and then try to get away as quickly as possible." On closer inspection it turned out that the street was around the corner (thank you Google Maps:-). Most likely a boy who wasn't from the area or just didn't feel like it. Nothing to really worry about. It became a little less fun when, on a lovely sunny day, we saw the electric awning slide over our heads. Just asked the other customers what they thought..."K%t (we were in Amsterdam) of course" in chorus. Now, to be honest, out of twenty people under the awning there was one in favor of this solar eclipse, but what do people think in a democracy? "Can't that awning be closed again?" was a perfectly normal question to another passing waiter, who immediately wanted to take the necessary steps to resolve this undemocratic :-) conflict. But hey, the non-walking Google Maps waiter apparently didn't have his day (it was the CL final that day, Ajax, you know) and decided that he should join the numerical minority of solar eclipse proponents because, hey you, he thought it was too hot. Customer friendliness comes first with this guy, of course. "Sorry Sir, no ice in the Coke today because my hands will be too cold..........." When I told him that the other customers also shared the same opinion, he just didn't bite my nose off with "ow man, he quickly did a survey here", undoubtedly that Amsterdam or Dutch directness that we as Flemish can only learn something from. . I mean, where does that nonsense stop, waiters are not slaves but should at least behave according to the needs of the customers if they are reasonable. And a little sun in your life and during your visits to the café really doesn't seem like much to ask for. Which does not alter the fact that the beer was nice and cool and the snacks delicious. Hopefully the waiter didn't have to work overtime and was able to go home straight away.

Great coffee, one of the best for flavour in Amsterdam. Comes with a small biscuit which is very tasty. Sit outside and you will experience a heated seat from the unassuming wicker chairs, great to warm the rear 😁 Good options with food from sandwiches, burgers and salads. Beer and wine also available.

t Nieuwe Kafe The Nieuwe Kafe is located in the heart of Amsterdam on the large square next to the Royal House and opposite Madame Toussaud. The cafe is very nicely decorated and has a large outdoor area with a view of the large square. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The coffee was very good. The drink selection is also very good.

One of the best places to eat around the touristic area in Amsterdam. The service is great, the waiters are very polite and attentive and the food is amazing! We had an issue one of the days with the kitchen making mistakes with my friend request, however this didn't make us not go back.

Favorite for this restaurant! I had lunch before taking my train back to Paris yesterday afternoon and my dish was elaborate, generous and succulent! The cook has experience and it shows on the plate. The service was also up to par with an efficient waitress and it must be said, she was magnificent.... In short, if you want to have elaborate and tasty dishes, take a trip to 't Nieuwe Kafé.

Nice terrace with the option to sit in the shade. Food ratio price, quality, quantity not in balance. It's a shame that the table is already being cleared while people are still eating and you are already asked if you want to pay before the last bite is served. We had the desired second drink somewhere else.

I arrived solo a few hours after lunch, picked a table right by the street outside so I could sip some coffee with a view, but the waiter told me I needed to move to another table in the back so a group of four could sit in my spot instead, which was very disappointing considering there were about five open tables of the same size close to us, so I was a little unhappy. The WiFi did not work, and they didn’t have any alternative milk options

Could be even more expensive. 5€ a cappu is just way too cheap. 0.25l beer 5€, it could easily be 2€ more.

Nice restaurant on the Dam in Amsterdam. View over the entire dam and its colorful hustle and bustle. Attentive and friendly staff, not intrusive. We recommend the sandwiches, which are tasteful and visually upscale.

If you, as a tourist, do not have internet and want to go and benefit from the cafe's internet, do not go there because the employees have nothing to do with the issue. Frankly, I only said a coke, it does not look very pleasing, the only plus is its location.

Coffe is not great, and they manager definitely doesn’t manage well, because he hires 2 waitresses for entire full terrace, which results in chaos and waiting forever.

Wonderful shakshuka, i make shakshuka at home and i make it well, theirs was better. Very excellent customer service and overlooking a church and palace. A tall blonde waiter served me today, he should get a raise. Also not too expensive for the quality you get. All in all 10/10

This is a great coffee shop right in the middle of everywhere you want to be. We decide to have lunch there as well and loved it.

I can't comment on the food as I only had a few drinks. The day after Genesis' farewell concert in the Ziggodome, March 22, 2022, we enjoyed some time in Amsterdam. The location is perfect: right next to the Nieuwe Kerk and on Dam Square, opposite the royal palace on De Dam. The view is very attractive. Highly recommended!

Everything was perfect ! The server was pleasant and very helpful. I loved the ham and bacon toast. Too bad the orange juice was cut with water.

The waiter kept speaking German to us even though we were not both German. Me and friend were speaking english to each other and to the waiter but he kept speaking german. If you just assume there are a lot of german tourists, fine. But if after WE TELL YOU that not both of us speak german and you keep speaking german to both of us is just respectless. We also overheard from other tables that the waiter just assumed people were german when they started talking English to him. The Flammkuchen had way too much cheese. I love cheese and the guyere was still very overwhelming. Did not taste anything of the salmon or asparagus, which was a shame.

Had a lovely afternoon snack here. Yummy Irish Coffee and table fries. The plus for me were their heated chairs and blankets! The service was a little slow but would go again.
