Had a very good experience in this restaurant. The owner is a spontaneous and nice man! My girlfriend and I had a good time. I definitely recommend it if you like Japanese cuisine!

I never leave a review but after this awful experience I'd like to share why I do NOT recommend this restaurant. After seeing a outstanding 4.2 ⭐️ rating me and my partner decided to go to this restaurant for his birthday, but upon arrival we noticed the entire place was empty. We didn't think much of it since it was quite early on in the evening. We decided on our food and waited for it to be served, while waiting we noticed a cat that was sitting on the couch (where people dine) behind us. I'd like to say that I'm a big animal lover, but having a cat in a restaurant where people dine is very unhygienic and can cause problems for people with allergies, for example my partner felt really uncomfortable with the fact he was eating right next to a cat while he's allergic to them. That being said, when the food arrived at first glance it looked good! Until I started to feel sick, I decided to stop eating and get a box to go. On our way home I started to feel even worse while my partner also started to feel sick. When arriving home it got really bad and we decided to just go to bed, but little did I know I was up the entire night with stomach cramps and the feeling of needing to puke. Eventually I fell asleep but woke up with the same problems, but since my partner felt better he decided to eat the leftovers we took home. But after consuming not even 30 minutes later he got cramps again, so I decided to send them an email regarding the issue with the food we got served since there's obviously something wrong. No response. So we decided to call them, they told us they would respond to our email. Still no response. There seems to be no care for their customers, with the way they handle things. Never going here again.

Enjoyable meal, pleasant and quick service, just good.

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by a unique touch—a fish tank with vibrant tropical fish, setting the tone for what’s to come. The walls are adorned with anime-inspired artwork, adding a quirky and fun vibe to the atmosphere. The sushi itself was exceptional. We opted for the à la carte menu, starting with a mixed appetizer, followed by several special uramaki rolls. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with fresh, high-quality ingredients. A particularly cool detail was the dry ice steam that accompanied some of the dishes, adding a bit of theatrical flair to the meal. It’s clear that the restaurant puts a lot of thought into both the flavors and the overall experience. If you're a sushi lover in Amsterdam, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Unwelcome, excessively expensive price of 16 euros for a cocktail, we were taken for Chinese

Quality and nice sushi, and I really like how they did the smoke thing with dry ice. I recommend making reservations if you are coming for dinner. Very fast service.

I would like to start my 5 ⭐ review from the huge thank to absolutely amazing Sami! He is what would you call a Brilliant! And the food was out of this world! Sadly I took photos only of what I managed as all of us were starving! Definitely and strongly recommend to visit if you like this food and just a little heads up…warm sake is a must 🫣 Lovely atmosphere ❤️💕

Very good Japanese restaurant. Everything was delicious, of very good quality and with the option of going to a closed buffet menu paying a fixed price or a carte. The place is very cozy, the quality of the food is very good and the service is quite fast. Without a doubt, I would repeat.

Unfortunately not a great experience. Sushi is very disappointing and for that price... 23.50 for a "special" roll. We just wanted a few pieces of sushi and not all you can eat. Of the 5 different types we tried, I can't say that any of them were really tasty. Not rolled well and not fresh. And you get a very small amount of wine, it was not very tasty and turned out to be a real headache wine. It's amazing that after two tastings you feel that it is a very bad wine. The only thing that was good is the service. Two gentlemen who are really very friendly. And the cozy house cat who lies on the couch as nice company. But certainly not worth repeating. Too bad Genki.

Food was pretty good but not worth the price. We ordered pints they gave us half pints. Ordered ice cream that came with baileys but the baileys didn’t come out when we asked to get it taken off the bill they said no. They would only bring the shot even though the ice cream dish was well gone.

The level of food quality of this place is very high, the way the food is presented is also on point. The server was very friendly, everything is served quickly. A nice touch was the local red tabby cat, who minds his own business :).

Upon entering, the service is attentive and friendly, and they ask if you want to sit inside or outside. They are also clear and attentive when explaining all you can eat. They are quick and friendly when it comes to service and they also clean well in between. The food was very tasty and enough choices, the cocktails are tasty. Definitely a good choice if you want to eat sushi.

We ate very well at this Japanese restaurant. We ate the All you can eat, we couldn't get past the 4th round. The salmon with sake and the beef from the same section are the best on the menu. The lemonades with fruits are great too!

I have been to Genki many times and loved the food, the boys served in the garden were amazing. But on my latest visit, I felt very unpleasant by hearing the father of the owner refer me as "a fly just came in" towards the staff at the bar, in Cantonese and disrespectful way, I was the only customer and only one by the entrance that time. He thought I didn't understand the language. God knows what they would criticize other customers who really don't understand their language. Very unprofessional. I have posted very good review but now I deleted them .

El sushi era genial, sin embargo pedimos sashimi que era demasiado caro y algunos artículos son casi no comestibles. Por lo general, mi pareja y yo estamos obsesionados con el sashimi, pero aquí simplemente no estaba a la altura. El asiento exterior en la parte trasera del restaurante también es increíblemente oscuro y no muy estético o un ambiente agradable.

Always delicious all you can eat sushi. We have been coming there for years and the quality has always remained good. In the summer you can sit in the beautiful garden. They also have a nice cat walking around.

One of the owner, insulted us in Cantonese when we entered by talking to another member of staff. He thought we didn't understand him. "Look the flies start coming" We were the first one to enter.

We were completely satisfied and ordered 2 plates of sushi and 2 other dishes. Everything was delicious, the service was good and the restaurant itself was very nice and cozy. Highly recommended!!!

A great AYCE near het 'Leidseplein'. They have an AYCE menu with some special rolls and items that require an additional payment. The quality of the food is great and they also serve surf clam. Last time I came they did use paper instead of a qr code for ordering, which is great for if your battery is running low :). Definitely a good all you can eat if you are in the neigborhood!

Genki se anuncia como un restaurante de sushi “todo lo que puedas comer”, mientras que no lo es. Todo el mundo que vaya al restaurante por la opción de todo lo que pueda comer debe saber que lo primero que los empleados le dicen cuando realiza su primer pedido es que hay un límite de 5 rondas de pedidos y, en cada pedido, cada persona solo puede pedir 5 piezas. Obviamente, esto no es todo lo que puedes comer. Además de esto, esta política contradice la página web del restaurante, , que menciona expresamente que “NO hay rondas máximas” en la opción de todo lo que puedas comer. Además, la opción de todo lo que pueda comer no incluye una sección relevante del menú, donde por ejemplo se incluye el sushi de fusión. Para estos, usted pagará por separado. El resultado de todo esto es que, al final, cada cliente termina pagando (al menos) 40 € por un (falso) todo lo que pueda comer. En el menú a la carta, lo más probable es que las piezas de la misma cantidad le cuesten lo mismo o menos. La calidad del sushi es promedio. Por mi parte, nunca volveré a este restaurante ya que hace publicidad falsa para atraer clientes y luego cambia las reglas cuando los clientes no tienen opción de irse.

Everything was good. The sushi was fresh and tasty, the menu had a good variety of items. The staff was very attentive and friendly. When I told them that my phone battery was dying they offered to charge it for me. Being a tourist in a foreign country, away from my hotel, and heavily relying on my iphone to pay for purchases, get to places by using Google maps and getting Uber to take me places, it is not an exaggeration to say that they saved my life by charging my phone. Truly appreciate this simple jester of kindness and understanding.

Ended up here looking for sushi on a terrace. What a nice and special place in the middle of Amsterdam, eaten in the courtyard: beautiful, quiet and good quality sushi. The only thing that was disappointing was the fried calamari, which was a bit tough... otherwise a delicious meal. I will definitely be back

The worst place where I have ever eaten sushi!!!(((I ordered an eel roll that had bones in it (I attached the video). After I called the administrator and he said that this is normal, bones are normal, I I realized that this was the bottom, and not an establishment. Instead of an apology and a discount, he said, yes, the bones in the role are normal!!! But if I or my mother pricked myself with them, is it really so difficult to cut off the fin along with the bones? bony fish! there are no words, just a terrible establishment and service, I hope the administrator is fired!

Yesterday, July 25, 2024, I celebrated my BIRTHDAY with my son in the beautiful outdoor garden, enjoyed the hydrangeas and roses and lots of greenery. The food is VERY DELICIOUS and the staff is very nice. Was also treated to ice cream with fireworks, what a beautiful memory, Thank you!!! Definitely recommended if you REALLY WANT TO ENJOY!!!

Used the "All You Can Eat" menu. Delicious food, very friendly service and it is beautiful behind the shop (in the garden). As for the food, it was very well prepared. It was ready quickly and very tasty. There were (slightly too) many dishes with teriyaki sauce and the lamb chops were overcooked. Apart from that, a really good tent.

Food was great, some of the portions were ridiculously large, like ordering 1 x bananas at the end of the meal and we receive two plates with 6 or so bananas on each. While I understand that they need to earn money, the drinks are overpriced and as a non-dutch person I was honestly confused that the amount of drinks you get was only on the menu for a select few.

Genki is good sushi, and I say that as a SEASONED sushi eater from Australia. But the price is the killer here - it’s a little OP for the meal. But otherwise, Genki is fresh, friendly, and delicious.

This is a restaurant where everything has been thought about. Warm welcome, neatly brought to your table and drinks immediately. This order is very pleasant at a sushi restaurant. I've been coming here for about 12 years. The sushi is always consistent and never deviates.

High prices for average food. I read a few (overrated) comments before we visited, in the end it was just another sushi restaurant, but with higher prices. Will not visit again.

Delicious sushi restaurant in the center of Amsterdam. We went there for the all-you-can-eat formula and we weren't disappointed. I highly recommend focusing on the sushi and fish-based dishes as they are worth the cost. Also, the staff is very nice and they took care of the fact that I couldn't eat gluten by providing a separate menu and gluten free soy sauce.

Im giving 2 stars because the sushi was pretty good, the other 3 stars was taken off because is not all you can eat sushi, first of all ,they have the rule that you can order only 5 Rounds, only 5 pieces each round,that makes you eat only 25 pieces of sushi i ordered a sake and the bill was 47 euros.After that i was embarased to ask for more as the rules are clear in the picture on this review.

We had all you can eat lunch menu (lunch stops at 4pm so to get the full 2.5 hours be sure to get there by 1.30pm, or dinner menu starts from 4pm for 2.5 hours for a few Euros extra). Music and atmosphere was great!

We unintentionally mentioned the unlimited menu. We were not very satisfied. The price-performance ratio didn't quite meet it.

Atmosphere good, food fine, almost no recommendations or comments, only the timing of serving the food was sometimes delayed and occasionally placed at the wrong table. A little more attention could be paid to this and as far as I am concerned they have well deserved those 5 stars. Keep it up dear people 💪🏾

This is the second time I have been year in two years and the all you can eat buffet card is wonderful. Honestly the food is fresh, the fish is prepared very well. They don't skimp out on the amount of fish or the orders and I challenge anyone to be able to eat any more than 3 of the 5 ordering rounds they offer. The atmosphere is chill and quiet and it's great for a date, a family meal, out with friends or even just relaxing by yourself with some music and this food. Great restaurant!

Very good sushi place in Amsterdam. You have the possibility to either take all you can eat or a la carte. We did not have enough hunger for the all you can eat. The combo for 2 was more than enough. We did not fish and took the rest away. The waiters and the place is also nice. A bug acquarium right at the entrance of the restaurant with a lot of beautiful and colorful fishes. Would definitely come back for the all you can eat next time I come back in Amsterdam

It's expensive 🫰 for a buffet that is very normal or average. Some dishes such as sashimi or tuna you must pay an additional extra. The ginger cat there is an old lovely puss! Staff were kind and service was good. You feel watched at all times! WC 🚻 very difficult to reach upstairs with a treacherous staircase.

On the well-known LGBT street, a big and nice sushi shop. I can't say that I went crazy, but it had good, fast service and the food was good.

All you can eat menu does not include any of the sushi rolls or sashimi options! You had to pay for ordering them separately even for the first ordering! Such a ripoff and absolutely ridiculous! Food was okay but absolutely not worth going with the all you can eat option.

Great sushi reasonably priced located just behind the flower market. Child friendly (7 YO). Was really impressed with the thick cut the sashimi. Would recommend.

One of the best Japanese bar/restaurants I have been to, 100% recommend, all you can eat menu is worth the it’s value, me and my gf were late for our late dinner booking but waitress Kikiana (sorry for misspelling) allowed us in for it, she was really nice and helpful. Food tastes authentically Japanese, and portions are fair, and very cute cat. Only thing was that it was a bit too dark inside the place.

The food is delicious! Really good food. It's not genuinely all you can eat though. You get 5 dishes per person per round - 1 dish can be 1 single piece of Nigiri. 5 rounds in total and then you have to pay up. They're also very strict on that. I left still slightly hungry but to reiterate - the quality of the food was there. Would return.

Cool place, they add water to the dried ice to make the experience worth the location, food was good and the staff was friendly and helpful, definitely recommended if you find yourself craving some sushi in Amsterdam!

The sushi came very fast after ordering. It seems has been prepared in advance. Any way everything was tasty.

The service had notably improved, making the experience more enjoyable. The standout dishes were the scallop sushi, which was exceptional in flavor and texture, and the gyoza, which was quite good. Unfortunately, I only managed to capture a photo of the delicious sesame balls, which added a memorable touch to the meal. Overall, it was a decent dining experience with some standout moments.

Erg bijzonder dat er wordt verteld dat je een onbeperkt aantal rondes kan bestellen voor 2,5 uur maar je na 3 rondes en 1,5 uur te horen krijgt dat er nu een laatste ronde voor je geld. Daar betaal je dan even €39,95 p.p. voor. Het eten was was oké maar niet meer dan dat. Er zijn zeker betere sushi tenten met een beter assortiment en kwaliteit. Erg sonde want het zag er vanbinnen wel gezellig uit.

Kind of a tourist trap with an impossible complicated menu at a kitschy part of town. ... And the food disserves what I gave it. Sorry guys.

Very nice food and service! They also provide you a menu for pregnant women, which they prepare and bring it separately from the rest of the sushi!

Een van onze lievelings tenten in Amsterdam. Aardige mensen. Snelle (maar niet te snelle) levering van de rondes. Jammer dat het zo prijzig is en dat er niet heel veel opties zijn. Je moet daardoor vrij snel dingen opnieuw bestellen.

Lekker gegeten, vlot bediend, gezellige setting in de achtertuin. Top! Bedankt en tot de volgende keer 👍
