Delicious food, super nice owners/staff.

Yesterday I had a lovely meal with friends at Gezana Eritrean Restaurant. The staff were friendly and explained everything clearly. The food was delicious, and the fact that we ate with our hands was a unique touch; our hands were washed beforehand was a plus. The chicken was a bit dry.

The food was delicious! I've been here several times, with vegans, non-vegans, children, and people with gluten allergies. It's so nice that everyone can eat here. They also create a memorable experience here, with the hand-washing ritual, the communal eating, and of course, the food is simply delicious! Oh, and importantly: the staff is so friendly! Absolutely recommended to try ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I had an amazing experience at Gezana Restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious — full of authentic Ethiopian flavors and beautifully presented. The injera was perfectly made, and every dish was rich, fresh, and perfectly spiced. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The cozy atmosphere and genuine hospitality made the evening unforgettable. Definitely one of the best dining experiences in Eindhoven!”

We had a pleasant evening with delicious food and friendly, helpful service. Eating with our hands was new to us, but a hand-washing ritual beforehand made it enjoyable and hygienic.

What an evening! Super fun! Before dinner, wash your hands at the table (because here you eat with your hands – and believe me, that only makes it more fun). The starter was delicious, and the main course was the Gezana Special: three different dishes, also delicious and more than enough to leave completely satisfied. The atmosphere is warm and cozy, you immediately feel welcome. Highly recommended if you want to try something different and leave with a full belly and a big smile!

Great place with relaxing ambience and very friendly staff. But unfortunately the food is a let-down. All the vegetarian dishes have zero flavor. Lack of salt, lack of spice. Everything just tastes like it has been boiled in water (lentils, spinach, pumpkin, etc). The meat dishes are a little bit more flavorful, but still rather toned down for a white&western taste.

Very original and a great experience, the food was very good although some of it was pretty spicy, great service.

Extremely disappointed, not sure where the good comments are from but it’s extremely slow, we waited for 1 hour for the food. Then the food is half raw, or just completely raw and no where indicated on the menu. Not only we had a pregnant lady but we also just don’t like raw food. When we communicated this to the shop they indicated that you need to indicate in advance, but isn’t it the responded the restaurant to indicate on the dish discerption if the food is raw? Even if you order a steak people would ask you how would you like your steak, it’s just a common thing people don’t like raw food. There were no apologies but fully entitled from the shop employees. Wasted 90+ euro for more than 1 hour food for not even near nice food and not even eatable because it wasn’t stated that the meat will be raw, what a waste

We had a wonderful meal at Gezana. Gezana means home, and the staff did everything to make you feel welcome and at home. We were greeted with a big smile. We went for the most extensive mix of dishes. Rich flavors: spicy, sweet, sour, and salty. A true experience. Hand-washing ritual, coffee ceremony, and mango farmer. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing! I can't stop thinkig about this place since I was there couple days ago. Love the unique taste, very friendly staff. But be prepared to try something totaly different than European tastes! We ordered two mixed dishes and it was very large amount of food for two people. Inside very clean, full restaurant smells just fantastic. I felt in love in Erytra 10/10.

I had a truly delicious meal at Gezana, with so many rich flavors. I wasn't sure what to expect beforehand, but it was so good. Before you eat, someone comes by with a jug to wash your hands. That makes it a truly complete and authentic experience. Afterward, you can eat with your hands, and when you're done, they clean them again. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. If you've never had Eritrean food, give it a try—it's so delicious!

We had a delicious meal yesterday. We tried many different dishes and unfortunately couldn't finish them all. The staff were friendly, but it took a little longer because it was busy.

Great for vegan food From the moment we walked in we knew this was going to be a great experience. Warmly welcomed by our server we were delighted with the vegan options on the menu. We had a banana beer and a coconut beer , both served in coconut cups - really refreshing and unlike anything I’d had before. We were then invited to wash our hands, both before & after our meal as we would be eating with our hands. We opted for 2 different vegan plates with were served ‘to share’ with injeera bread. The dishes were explained to us and more bread was offered if we needed it. We had coffees (aromatic, strong, quality) & vegan cake for dessert. Served in a traditional manner & again our lovely server took time to explain the ceremony & its importance 5 stars, delicious food, warm and friendly service. My first experience of Eritrean food but hopefully not the last

Héérlijk gegeten met zoveel rijke smaken. Alles was vegan en glutenvrij te verkrijgen, zo blij mee! Het is een familiebedrijf waar hart en ziel in zit. Zo werden we warm ontvangen en voelde ik oprechte verbinding met degene die ons bediende. Dat is niet vanzelfsprekend, dus alles bij elkaar een grote aanrader als je een unieke ervaring wil en lekker met je handen wil eten :-)

We had lunch with 4 people at Gezana this afternoon and it was really fantastic. Delicious food! Enjoyed a combination of dishes. Everything deliciously seasoned and deliciously spicy. The service was also great! Very nice people, highly recommended!

A fun and out of the box dining experience

Delicious food, super friendly and hospitable staff, nice atmosphere and fantastic interior. Also definitely recommended if you want to eat vegan/vegetarian.

We had dinner here tonight with 2 people and enjoyed the vegan mix and vegan special. We were welcomed very warmly and were allowed to choose a place. We were not familiar with Eritrean cuisine and did not know what to expect. The staff explained everything before we could ask which was very nice. You eat with your hands, so they came to the table to perform a hand washing ritual. The food was delicious. Super many different flavors and a really new experience. The lager beer and mango beer were also really great. There was also a special coffee ritual where coffee beans were roasted. It was a real experience and I would recommend it to everyone.

Absolute bliss. Wonderful and intimite expercience sharing the food on a single plate and eating with your bare hands. Just had a very romantic and succesful date here. Staff is super friendly and chill.

Dit was de tweede keer dat we hier kwamen. Ontvangst en service is méér dan fantastisch. Alweer overheerlijk gegeten, mijn man verschillende vleesgerechten, ik lekker vegan. Fijne combinatie. Aansluitend werd er verse koffie gebrand en klaargemaakt, manlief stond vooraan om het van dichtbij te bekijken (en te proeven).

Fantastische plek waar we bij toeval terecht kwamen. Na een lange dag in Eindhoven zijn we hier uitgekomen omdat buiten op de kaart al duidelijk werd dat er genoeg vegan opties waren. Interesting food, but small portions, 27eur for 1 plate is too expensive. The beef was like chewingum, the rest food not so bad. I bought big portion but it was not so big, They have also other dishes for 17 eur, but they are very small, like waitress told me.

They force you to order plates per person, even if the plates are too big for you

I highly recommend this place: good service, cozy interior and very tasty food. Since it was Saturday evening, we made a reservation in advance. Once you have ordered, the staff will come by with soap and water to wash your hands. We started with the silsi: the sauce with tomatoes was delicious and the yogurt was a nice addition. As a main course we shared the vegan mix and the shiro. The food was traditionally served on a large tray on the injera. Our table had a side table which was very useful to put the drinks on as the table was full of the platter. Everything tasted fantastic and we ate everything without any problems. Our hands were also washed after eating. We ended the evening with Eritrean tea and vegan cakes. Also recommended. The staff is super nice and the service is fast. The prices are great, because you get a lot of delicious food in return.

Very original Eritrean restaurant both relating food and the atmosphere. It was our first time trying this kind of food and we were really impressed by the way the food is eaten and by the way it tastes! The staff was also very friendly with warm smiles all way long! We visited this restaurant and had such a delightful culinary experience. The ambiance was cozy and authentically decorated, offering different seating options. If you wish to experience authentic Eritrean-Ethiopian food - then this is the restaurant to go to!! We ordered Ma Suwa (Eritrean beer), Gored-Gored (beef), Kulwa Keyih-Tsaeda lamb, Baklava (dessert). The dishes were spicy and so flavourful and also served in the traditional style, without cutlery. Eating with hands added a fun and immersive element to this whole experience. They even wash your hands before and after the meal, enhancing the authenticity of the dining ritual. The service was truly exceptional as well. The staff went above and beyond, assisting us with the order and providing detailed explanations of the dishes. The food surpassed all our expectations, offering unique and beautiful flavors. This was definitely one of the highlights of our visit. I highly recommend everyone to visit this restaurant - for not just the food but the entire experience of it. Please visit! :)

Perfect choice for a new experience! The decor is inviting, as are the staff. The reception ensures that you wait for the food with anticipation and positivity. The Eritrean way of dining is fun to experience; This is done exactly as in the country itself, including washing hands. The food was very well prepared, but not exceptionally good (as I have come to expect from some other restaurants). The toilets were exceptional, they smelled so good that I have to mention it. Totally worth it!

Nog nooit van gehoord maar op uitnodiging met 4 volwassenen en een kind van 4 daar geweest. Een belevenis. Je handen worden aan tafel gewassen en onze gerechten aten we met onze handen. Het eten was echt heerlijk en zelfs de peuter vond het eten lekker. Een grote schaal met allemaal hapjes. Opgediend door hele vriendelijke mensen. Het was echt verrassend om het mee te maken. Afgesloten werd met een handwassing. Het restaurant ziet er gezellig uit met Eritreese decoratie in het centrum van de stad.

Este restaurante fue una experiencia increíble. Comienza con el ambiente, la decoración increíble, y la recepción porque el personal es muy agradable. Los platos estaban deliciosos (aunque muy picante para mi no-picante - brasileño - paladar) y llegaron muy rápido. Está bien servido, así que considere esto al ordenar. Me gustó mucho y lo recomiendo a todos mis amigos cuando piden una nueva experiencia.

The atmosphere is stunning and taste of the food was great! But food quantity was less compared to its price mark (We ordered the gezana special and gezana mix). Service was slow at 7 pm so our friend ended up going to the bar himself to order his drinks; the hospitality and culture is warm though.

What a great find! Very nice! Great vegan options and the tartar and beef were also great. Like the atmosphere.

Tasty Eritrean dishes. We ate a platter with various meat dishes with vegetables accompanied by enjeera. Shared dining and eating with your hands with the enjeera as edible cutlery. For dessert I ate baklava and drank mes, honey wine. The atmosphere in the restaurant is authentically Eritrean and the staff is friendly. You can wash your hands at the table before and after eating. I have been coming to this restaurant for years. Definitely recommended if you are in Eindhoven.

I come here almost every week, the food is great and the people who work there are so sweet and explain it very well, the music and food make you happy!

It was our first time eating Eritrean food and we were really impressed. The food was served like a ritual. Someone comes to the table to wash your hands before and after eating, as you use them to eat. It really tasted very good and was well seasoned. The service and hospitality was also very good. We will come back in any case.

One of my all-time favorite restaurants, I absolutely love the atmosphere, the style of the place and the staff is super friendly. Eritrean food is delicious and I would say that this is one of the best of such places I have been to in the Netherlands. If you want a dinner that is an experience without completely breaking the bank then this is the place to be.

Wonderful place! Really nice atmosphere and decorations and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious! We had the mix chosen by the chef, and it was wonderful! You eat the food with your hands using the injera (flatbread). This is sanitary because the staff bring a pitcher of warm water and some soap to wash our hands with before eating.

Most of them were very delicious. I liked Gezana mixed more than special. At first it did not seem like that much food but it is! We would order less next time to enjoy until the last bite. The service was not fast but they are nice.

Are you comfortable eating with your hands and sharing food with the people you are having dinner/lunch with? If yes you will not be disappointed with Gezana. First must try is the Eutopian beer it is fruit infused made from wheat and free of gluten comes in banana mango and coconut flavor. You drink it from a coconut bowl it is an experience not to miss. Food available for vegetarian and non vegetarians …. food is delicious must try non apetite

Delicious food and very friendly people. I really liked the food, but I really tasted the bread you eat with it. (I can't remember what those pancakes are called). The taste of the various dishes could have been a bit stronger in my opinion. It all tasted like the pancakes now
