We had the ravioli scampi today, but we only got seven small pieces. After complaining that the plate was very small, we were told that it was normal. A very poor result for us.

Excellent restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. Food is amazing: every dish is nicely selected from Giorgia (the owner) and her staff, which is very well prepared and helpful. The restaurant is very intimate and in my opinion good for a romantic dinner. They are very knowledgable about wines. Highly suggested.

So good! They cooked and flavored the octopus dish SO well. The tenderloin was spot on. The scampi ravioli was good. The tiramisu was very yummy and they had great Italian wine. The atmosphere was quaint and lovely. We would definitely go again! PS Call for a reservation. We got lucky and called at 5pm and got an 8pm spot but I’d reserve in advance for sure next time.

I went here for dinner with my family last night. We arrived at 8:15pm and were told that there were no seats available. We were asked to go back at 9:00. We were given a table at the innermost part of the restaurant. I felt very dark when I entered the restaurant. There was no air conditioning and no windows. I almost suffocated. We ordered food at 9:05pm. The starter was served at 9:20pm, which was normal. At 10:30pm, the main course was not served yet, which was a bit outrageous. I asked the waitress, and she said that the kitchen was cooking other guests' dishes. We waited for 1 hour and 30 minutes in such a dark restaurant. We finished the delicious food in 5 minutes and left. We didn't want to stay for another minute. I will never recommend this restaurant to other friends. It was a very unpleasant dinner.

This is really the best restaurant I've been to in Amsterdam. The food is like art, even its presentation. The service is excellent, professional and very friendly. The interior design and atmosphere are elegant. Good taste is just everywhere. The price is great for such quality and central location. A hidden gem. Special thanks to the talented Chef.

The restaurant is way too tight. We had a table booked at 8 o’clock and had to wait standing in the tight “lobby” for 20 min. The same happened to two other couples we met. We ordered the beef tenderloin and a duck breast but there was no sides with the meats on either dish. I don’t remember seeing soda on the drink menu when I wanted to order one and the waiter didn’t. understand me when I asked for a soda. The Tiramisu was on the other hand very good. The beef tenderloin was way to cooked (I asked for a medium rare).

Great food! Delicious burrata and beef carpaccio starters followed by yummy carbonara with guanciale.

One hour before closing, they seated us at a table that seemed reserved, so we're grateful for accommodating us. I need to eat gluten free and dairy free and after some consultation i settled on the octopus with some modifications and the cod with some modifications. The server told me the food is taking longer because they were taking extra care not to cross-contaminate, which is very much appreciated. The octopus was delicious although i would have charred it, but that's a personal preference. The fish was good, flaky, moist in an unexpectedly hot sauce. Not bad, just wasn't prepared for the heat. Two things i would have changed - peel the tomatoes, much less salt. Had a very interesting non-alcoholic cocktail that was not on the menu. The restaurant is small but with nice atmosphere, romantic even. The service was great. It's on the pricey side, just be aware.

Rude and patronising staff. Food looked wet and gross. Update in response to the owner reply: Wild that you’re questioning whether my experience was “true”, very unprofessional response. Instead of evaluating where you went wrong you’re being defensive which is exactly the problem.

Absolutely insane pizza. Get the burratina and add prosciutto. Carlos is awesome too.

I think the restaurant is buying reviews. It’s reviewed every few hours. I visited on Wednesday with colleagues. Pretty sure my cod was made from frozen, not fresh. Fennel salad was very strange. Dessert very sweet and basic.

Was traveling on a business trip, and we wanted to go to a nice dinner. This restaurant was perfect! Not too far at all from where we were staying. Food was amazing, fresh, and authentic. This service was food where 10/10. We had a bottle of wine, and we all loved it. We also each has a spritz whice was also great.

We were very disappointed in the service and food preparation. Our drinks were forgotten. We had to remind the wait staff of our order. Our food was forgotten. When we reminded the wait staff that our food had taken over an hour they rushed out my cod severely undercooked. They replaced it 20 minutes later, and it was cooked perfectly then. This restaurant is not as good as you would expect from a 4.8 star designation. Avoid this place.

I understand where this restaurant has such good reviews. It is always difficult to find good restaurants in the center of Amsterdam. (most are tourist traps) But we will definitely come back here, the dishes are very tasty and prepared with care, the extensive wine chose makes it complete. The service is also of a high standard. Wow! This place was the high end place I’ve been craving during my trip. The eggplant, octopus and pistachio pasta cannot be skipped. So delicious. My kids enjoyed the orrichette and meat sauce

Magnificent restaurant located in the heart of Amsterdam! We had dinner with friends and the experience was truly excellent. Special mention for their starter “Crema di cipolle con tuorlo fritto fondente e tartufo”, a true delight 😋. An incredible blend of flavors, perfectly mastered. I recommend without hesitation!

Italian food the way it's meant to be. No menu with 500 choices. A wonderful authentic menu with 5-7 starters, pasta, mains and desserts (no pizza's) Back to basics and quality above quantity. Keep it up! Nice interior, not big (maybe shield the last table a bit from the toilet and the kitchen). Very friendly staff, willing and able to help and explain.

The octopus appetizer was very tender and delicious, and the accompanying sauce was pretty good. The main course, beef filet, was decent, but I found the red wine sauce not particularly impressive. The ladyfinger biscuits and coffee syrup in the tiramisu were strange—it was like putting tasteless sponge in water. I’m not sure if there was an issue with quality control. Overall, it wasn’t sweet, and the mascarpone was good. The restaurant’s atmosphere and service were both excellent.

We popped in without a booking and despite being really busy they made the effort to find us a table. The staff were really friendly throughout and made us feel really welcome. For our mains my seafood was the freshest I'd ever eaten and my husband's beef Ragu was the best he'd ever eaten. Overall we were so glad we tried this restaurant and would highly recommend.

Had a great experience at Gió. The service was top-notch—the staff worked together seamlessly and created a really warm, relaxed vibe without missing a beat. Started with an amazing scallop dish—perfectly cooked with an incredible sauce that I’m still thinking about. The pappardelle with braised wild boar ragù was rich and full of flavor, and the tenderloin was perfectly done. Finished with a light, creamy tiramisu. Excellent food, great energy, and a place I’d definitely go back to.

Amazing Italian food. We enjoyed every dish we ordered, and it was a lot with our large group! Service was spectacular, and we loved our experience at Gió’s. Our favorites included the burrata starter, pappardelle with beef (cooked to perfection), and the raviolini. Dishes were generous portion sizes, and we enjoyed every bite of them. You could taste how fresh the ingredients were, and each dish was a delight to eat. 11/10 for authentic Italian food, wine, and service ✨

Had a most delightful experience at Gió Cucina Italiana! We reserved a table for two, and got a cosy table near the bar. The scene of the restaurant was very welcoming and rich in wines. The staff, especially the man, were full of excitement about the food and the place. For starters we had the cream onion, with a fried yolk and black Truffle, sided was homemade bread and olive oil. They paired it with a most perfect choice of wine for the dish. Definitely ask them for advice on choosing the wine, you can tell they're passionate about flavour and make every ingredient compliment the meal. Our main dish was the dish of the day, a Ribeye steak cooked to perfection with parmesan and rocket salad. We had trouble keeping our conversation going because the food was just this good! Again, we asked for advice on a wine, this one wasn't as intense as the first, which really allowed the Ribeye to strike our attention. For dessert we had a Pistachio Cannoli and the tiramisu (ofcourse you have to try tiramisu). The Cannoli was indulgent, creamy, yet subtle. The tiramisu sweet, soft, sinful. Although both desserts were incredible, the Cannoli definitely won our hearts. A first time at this restaurant, yet we're already planning our next visit.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Amsterdam that lived up to our expectations. Top appetizers, beautiful to look at but above all great in taste. First courses are abundant and with some options that are difficult to find elsewhere! Desserts to improve, the tiramisu was probably not the freshest. Service a bit rushed and atmosphere slightly chaotic, but that's considering that the place was full on a Friday night. Curious to go back and try new choices, maybe the desserts will pass the test :)

Scallops were cooked perfectly, though could have been served a bit hotter to the table. Delicious sauce. Eggplant was full of flavor and a nice sized serving. Tiramisu was fantastic. Impeccable service. We did not have a reservation but arrived at 5:30 so we didn't expect to get in but were thrilled that we did.

The restaurant is managed by Giò, a young and enterprising Genoese chef who has been able to bring a piece of Italy to Amsterdam. The staff in the dining room are Italian and the welcome is excellent. Discreet presence and attention towards customers are certainly much appreciated. The place is really very well looked after. Fillet with top Barolo reduction. Definitely highly recommended.

Nos encantó tanto que hicimos una reserva para unos días después y no nos decepcionó. Nuestra selección de comidas incluía el entrante de burrata, una ensalada casera (no en el menú, solo pregunte) recién hecha en ravioles infundidos de salvia casera, pasta de pesto pistacho y pappardelle con boloñesa de ternera. El postre de canolli y los licores caseros eran acabados perfectos. Si pudiéramos traer este restaurante a casa lo haríamos.

Second time having dinner at Giò in Amsterdam. I usually avoid Italian restaurants abroad, but here it's safe. Very high quality of raw materials, carefully prepared and delicious dishes. Staff always available, kind and highly trained. I can only recommend!

I highly advise you make reservations in advance. I’d give this restaurant 5 stars if it weren’t for one of the waitresses who sour demeanor made us feel unwelcome. The food in the other hand did not disappoint. If you’re looking for authentic delicious Italian food look no further, Gió is the place to go.

Lovely small restaurant, staff was amazing. Andre the host/server from Sicily was delightfully enthusiastic. Answered questions was patient. The pace of the meal was perfect. Not a wine drinker, Old Fashioned was not on the menu. Asked the bar keep, Emma; if she could make one, was perfect. Most importantly the food was outstanding. Make sure you get your reservations, after 7 it was filled to capacity. Fairly priced for the high quality of the food. Can’t go wrong with Gio Cucina Italiana
