Nice place. Cozy atmosphere and nice place. We were there in winter so it was a little cold when the door was opened. The food was good. However, I would have liked more potatoes (you don't have to skimp on that...)

Specially recommend the octopus and the pistachio pasta, we were lucky to have a table for 2 and the male waiter was really nice to us. The place was not well isolated and under our table there was a flow of cold air I think it would be nice to be fixed 🙏 The waiting time between starter and main dish was long but it was worth it for the food 🍝

The food was fantastic, but it would be recommended to offer some bread or something complimentary while waiting. Charging €4.50 for a few small pieces of bread and €6 for water is really not customer-friendly.

We came here on a Tuesday night without a reservation and were able to be seated right away. The food was delicious and the drinks were tasty. We were charged 5 euro extra for asking for drinks that were not on the menu (dirty martini and old fashioned). The restaurant is cozy and the staff were friendly.

Hands down the best Italian pasta we’ve ever had! The Ravioli with Black Truffle was a standout—the beef juice flavor is absolutely incredible. We also tried the Pistachio Pasta, and oh my goodness, it was amazing. Don’t skip the Roasted Octopus starter; it tastes divine. The service staff were the cherry on top—super attentive and friendly. A 10/10 experience!

Truly one of the worst restaurants I’ve been to since I’ve been in the Netherlands. I wasn’t a fan of their food AT ALL. It had an off taste in my mouth and they kept watching me whilst I ate which made me uncomfortable. The only thing I really enjoyed was the bread and I didn’t even know that at first it wasn’t free cause they brought bread to every table. It was later on when I asked for the bill that you had to pay. Also I ordered a virgin cocktail, which everyone knows it’s basically like a fruity drink. Instead they used an alcohol free rum which still had that alcohol taste. I couldn’t even drink my €10 cocktail. If I wanted a cocktail with alcohol free rum or a drink that tasted like an alcoholic beverage I would have asked for it but I asked for a VIRIGIN MOJITO. It’s basically like sprite and mint and even that was messed up. I won’t be going back but that’s just based on my preference and experience. Do with this review as you please. The atmosphere is nothing to rave about, it was small and crowded but that’s not unique to most Amsterdam restaurants and it was hidden in the alley so at night, it felt uncomfortable but other than that, I’d say find another restaurant and actually enjoy the food you’ll pay over €100 for.

Arriving without a reservation during peak hours, we (the two of us) were lucky enough to be seated without waiting. The quality is evident in every dish. Everything is impeccable. The price reflects this, but quality always comes at a price.

Dinner for two couples with 2 appetizers, 4 main courses and 1 bottle of wine, around 50 euros per person. Acceptable price for the center of Amsterdam. Restaurant located on a narrower street and therefore perhaps a little less touristy, but frequented mostly by foreigners. Very small space, which can become a little uncomfortable for eating in groups of more than 4 people. Italian food, made in an honest and traditional way. Some staff members are Italian. Reservations are advisable.

The food was extraordinary. They even made a vegan pasta with tomatosauce for me that was not on the menu. Mariam was the perfect combination of funny, excellent service, friendly & helpful. And the other 2 waitresses were very friendly aswell. We were there for a businesstrip as a team and had a wonderful evening!

The menu is limited, but the dishes are very elaborate and high-quality. There's no wait for your food, good wines, and a truly fantastic selection of Italian-style cocktails. I recommend the Sardinian Summer. The octopus appetizer is amazing! A note about the food: one of the two fillets in Barolo was less cooked than the main course, but overall, it was delicious. Definitely one of my top five places in Amsterdam for dining with a touch of Italy.

Everything was perfect, the food was great, we didn’t have wait too long, but I suggest placing a booking. The place is really cute and cozy. Service was great. Rachele and Mariam were top notch, they made us feel comfortable, very welcomed and served us in a professional and friendly way. Also, they are very attentive to allergies, Mariam managed to get me a Cannolo that I originally couldn’t eat with ingredients I could. She’s just amazing. I will definitely recommend and be back.

Great location right in the city center, cozy atmosphere in an original italian style restaurant, with traditional food and wine from tuscany. I had crostini di zucchine which was fantastic, then a filetto al barolo which was good but not perfect (maybe my preference, but the cut was too thick) Dessert was also delicious, with a very traditional style Tiramisu: tasted very close to the one I would have at home Definitely a place to try!

Was walking by and stumbled upon this restaurant and I’ve gotta say this is definitely not a tourist trap. The two pasta we’ve had was a very high-quality and it was so tasty. Definitely check it out of you’re not looking for a place with some pasta and romantic vibe. P.S. The place is a bit tiny and we got a tiny table but luckily the person behind us left and I was able to move back a bit.

Caio Bella!!! I came to Amsterdam for business, but was transported to the shores of the Amalfi Coast at Gio Cuciba Italiana. Located in the central part of this charming urban landscape and nestled along an unassuming alley that’s almost hard to find, this little gem of an eatery is a must when exploring the canal belt. The wines are all old world, so be prepared for some Italian greatness. Try a Montepulciano - and if you’re feeling bold, spring for a Super Tuscan. It all goes down smoothly in the narrowly quaint and charming space, featuring exposed stone walls and dark wood elements. While it feels retro, it also brings modern sensibilities to the attributes and, of course, its ambitious menu. Try the octopus - it is a revelation. Beautifully plated, it’s perfectly grilled and bathed in a delectable combination of rare buttery sauces. I’d also recommend the pistachio pasta. An inspiration. If you’re looking for evening out on the town, you can’t miss with this chef’s kiss of a destination. It’s a celebration of the sense, and the staff is both friendly and knowledgeable - making it even warmer. A total treat.

Wonderful and boutique Italian restaurant - food was fantastic and service was prompt, efficient and fun..loved it!

The restaurant was full we arrived but we knew to wait. Got the last table at 9:30 and boy did it not disappoint. The ocotpus was superb, the pasta dishes ( lobster, scampi and beef) was cooked and taste to perfection. Very enlightening to see a female chef behind the masterpiece! Wait staff and atmosphere were incredly welcoming and very informative and attive. Could not recommend more!

If I could leave 10 stars I would. Food by chef Gio is probably some of the best I’ve ever had! And I have eaten all over the world. To say that you will not be disappointed is an understatement. Prepare to have your mind blown by the otherworldly creations this restaurant has to offer.

I suggest trying it with authentic Italian balsamic vinegar for an even richer flavor. For starters, I had the grilled octopus. The creativity of the dish and the execution were outstanding — perfectly tender (not at all chewy) and paired with sauces that truly elevated the experience. For the main course, I chose the beef tenderloin, followed by a tiramisu for dessert. Both dishes exceeded my expectations, with the tiramisu in particular being a highlight. Overall, a wonderful dining experience — highly recommended if you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine in Amsterdam Better to call them for reservation to avoid waiting.

The girls at the service very polite but I really have to give credit to the chef!!! The food was excellent, we got 3 starters, 3 pasta dishes and meat. Everything was excellent!! From the handmade sourdough bread (we asked for a second portion) to the tiramisu at the end!!! Definitely worth a visit!!!

I had the most amazing dinner at this Italian restaurant last night! From start to finish, everything was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious—full of authentic flavor and cooked to perfection. You can really tell how much care goes into every dish. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming, and the service truly made the night extra special. Our waitress, Mariam, was wonderful—so funny, friendly, and attentive. She made us feel right at home and added such a personal touch to the whole experience. The wine selection was also fantastic and paired beautifully with our meal. It’s rare to find a place where everything just comes together so perfectly, but this was definitely one of those nights. It's a small Italian restaurant in the middle of Amsterdam that's sells very very good Italian food. I had the octopus and a pasta dish with a glass of Cabernet and a primitivo, and it was very very! Good, especially the pasta.

Came to Amsterdam never thinking we would be eating some of the best Italian food but it was incredible. Atmosphere was wonderful service was fantastic and the best part the Chef & owner Giorgia came over and sat with us we had a wonderful conversation & wish her nothing but good things for her going forward. But honestly the octopus was cooked perfect & the sauce was incredible one of the best I’ve ever had. Seafood raviolis with chunks of swordfish were delicious as well. Had the best night thanks for making our last night incredible . Everyone needs to try this restaurant!

Wow! Fantastic little Italian restaurant where the service is just as personal and genuine as the food they serve. Pulpo, risotto pere gorgonzola, melanza, beef in Barolo.... All pairing nicely with the suggested Barbera d'Alba. Only downside is that the small restaurant can become loud with a larger group next table and the ventilation might bring a whiff of local pot in.

Cosy little resturant in the city center. Very small, so reservation even on weekdays are recommended. Food was great, both starter mushroom tartare and lamb shank. Primarly full bodied red wines that goes well with the meat. Cocktails wasen't upthere but ok for the venues focus.

I liked the atmosphere and service. My expectations for the food were high due to the high rating. I liked the octopus. The rest was nothing special: the lamb wasn't tasty from the freezer, and the meat and tiramisu weren't great either. Thanks to the waiters and chef for their efforts!!!

This place had a 4.8 google rating. We were cautious as some places have great ratings but aren’t great. I would say the food was okay Small tables and hard to fit behind the other diners They booked out on a Tuesday night. Clientele seemed to be mostly Americans. Definitely not what we have had in Italy but not the worst we have had in Amsterdam city. Wine was nice. Total was 172 euros for the two of us with mains only and 2 sides.

Found this through high overall rating on Google. It met all of our expectations. The braised beef dish with Baralo wine sauce was delightful. We also enjoyed homemade ravioli with eggplant filling. Love this place!

A piece of Italy (the real Italy, the one that smells of passion and authenticity) in the center of Amsterdam. We visited this restaurant two nights and the food was divine both times. Amazing dishes (the octopus and the paccheri with pesto and bacon are recommended), friendly service, and reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

A friend of mine who lives in Amsterdam took me to this Italian restaurant. We were in a hurry because we had a reservation for an event at a venue half an hour later. One of the girls seated us right away, even though it was packed, and made us order before we even sat down to give us time. She insisted the kitchen get things done as quickly as possible. As an Italian, I admit the food was excellent. We ordered a first course and drank a good glass of wine. The atmosphere was very nice. Prices were average for Amsterdam. When I return to Amsterdam, I'll come back again, but more slowly this time. Highly recommended

First trip to Europe from America just for the Dutch GP...... food blew me away!!!!! Fine delicacies and was even greeted by the chef. If in Amsterdam, Gio is an absolute must, especially with ur Mrs.

Everything was perfect! Had a birthday dinner and even got a surprise at the end! Gio and her team did a fantastic job taking care of us and the food was just delicious!

The four of us had a truly fantastic meal here! We spent the entire evening there, ordering starters, pasta, main courses, and dessert. Every course was a feast, and the recommended wines made it perfect. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but it's more than worth it! The service was good and friendly, but could be improved to better match the high quality of the food. It took a long time for someone to come to our table, and water and bread were extra (not very Italian). The only downside of this restaurant is its location in a tourist area, and that's reflected in the type of guests. Many groups were happily scrolling on their phones in their North Face vests, instead of enjoying the evening. This made the atmosphere a bit dull. But with good company, fantastic food, and delicious wines, an evening at Gió can only be a good one, and we quickly forgot the atmosphere that hung in the air upon arrival. Highly recommended!
