Verena Restaurant in Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

Voor ons bezoek aan het Eonarium heerlijk gegeten in dit restaurant. Echt aan te raden voor als je Italiaans wilt eten. We komen hier zeker nog een keer terug om de tiramisu te proberen, want we moesten weg voor de voorstelling. Lieve mensen in de bediening, leuk kleinschalig restaurant.

Local pequeno, aconchegante, comida excelente! Comemos espaghetti carbona, alho e óleo e um rigatoni quatro queiijos, também provamos o tiramissu na sobremesa. Tudo excelente. Preço justo, ótimo atendimento.

Ein kleines, originell dekoriertes Lokal, sehr freundliche Bedienung, die Pizzen werden zu 100% frisch gemacht auf Bestellung und sind ein Traum! Erfreuliche Überraschung: der Minzentee war mit frischer Minze, sehr aromatisch. Das Tartufo ein krönender Abschluss. Wir werden wieder hingehen!

Food was really tasty … Service was very slow so expect a long wait also on arrival received a message table cancelled but already at restaurant just walked 30 mins so wasn’t having that .. we got our table !!!! Authentic Italian but feel more aimed at local people hence bounced off booking at first.

It is a family restaurant owned by a friendly couple. Food is nothing special. Pizza, pasta and some starters.

Quality Italian food, everything is home-cooked, intimate atmosphere and friendly staff. In the vicinity of two important Amsterdam museums: Nemo Science Museum and National Maritime Museum. I strongly recommend!

So, it exists! The family-friendly Italian restaurant with the charming owner and the giant, quality meals that kids will actually eat is not dead yet. This is the Amsterdam version of this gift to humankind. Walk in, drop your loads and relax. My daughter (1) would like to add the had the biggest Calzone she had ever here, while daughter (2) states she had the best Margarita ever. And both are known to be discerning and opinionated. The lady of the house also lauded the charm, food and red wine. Even the location is lovely next to a small bike bridge.

Everything about Verena is five stars! The delightful Italian owners, the cozy atmosphere and the authentic meals. There were five of us including three kids and we all declared this one of the best Italian meals we have ever had. The garlic bread was divine, pizzas and calzone simple and delicious and the spaghetti aglio e olio was divine! Extra chilli sauce and oil was available. The wine and beer available perfectly complemented the meals and our kids also enjoyed a tiramisu at the end! If we didn’t live on the other side of the world, we would be back for sure.

Insane food and dessert. The truffle pasta melted in my mouth. Nothing compares to that. The Hawaiian pizza was off the charts and the bosses wife's homemade tiramisu was mouth watering to say the least. Surely to come again

Absolutely LOVELY restaurant. It’s a local restaurant with the most lovely people who serve and make your food. Their garlic bread is to die for and their pizzas are delicious!! My family got a couple of their family specials and those were also wonderful. P.S. the BEST tiramisu you will ever have!!

A charming and quaint gem just a 15-minute walk from Central Station. Upon arrival, the owner warmly welcomed us and made us feel right at home. The pizza was among the best I’ve ever had, and the tiramisu was hands-down the best I’ve ever tasted. This establishment has quickly become one of my favorite places in Amsterdam, and I’ll most definitely be back. I highly recommend making a reservation before visiting, as it’s a small venue—a true testament to their focus on quality over quantity.

The absolute best! Please do yourself a favor and visit Verena Restaurant! We visited Amsterdam from Colombia for a three day trip and ate here for two out of the three days 🫣 The truth is we would have visited for all three days if we had the time! The food, service and atmosphere transported us straight to Italy with absolutely delicious flavors and amazing hospitality. I would recommend everything on this menu, especially the Tiramisu 😉 We can’t wait to visit again. Thank you Verena, husband (didn’t get his name 😣) and family/team for taking such good care of us. Tuvimos una comida encantadora aquí. Los dueños nos trataron como familia. Es un pequeño lugar de propiedad familiar y todo lo que pedimos era delicioso. La casa - hecho pesto en la ensalada Caprese es el mejor que he tenido. La corteza de calzone tenía el sabor a ajo más maravilloso. El tiramisú casero es fantástico. Todo es genial. Recomiendo encarecidamente terminar su comida con un delicioso chupito de limoncello. Lo hicimos y estábamos muy contentos con esa elección!

No me di cuenta de lo lejos que estaba de nuestro hotel, pero fue influenciado por las críticas para ir. Un pequeño restaurante con un servicio atento de presumiblemente los propietarios. Comida muy sabrosa y sin pretensiones, solo un buen servicio, una sonrisa amable y una cocina italiana caliente. Claramente tiene una buena reputación, ya que estaba lleno en nuestra visita con una gran fiesta de Australia y otros del Reino Unido. ¡Vete, te gustará!

Very tasty and authentic. The pizza can be eaten alone by two people. The size is completely sufficient for two. A great location in the center of Old Amsterdam. Next to the sailing museum with a magnificent old sailboat.

Looking for a relaxed atmosphere and filling home cooked feeling food. This was perfect and the staff were lovely. Great for a couple or group! There were 7 of us and they were very accommodating. Food was delicious

Good food, all homemade... but... we ordered 6 shots of lemoncello, 40 euros, 6.50 each... we tell the owner and he says that this is Holland and it's all expensive!! A true thief!!!

If you are a tourist and don't look local, they push hard for cash. Even with card, they insist on adding tips which is not norm in Europe at all. Just avoid if you are not a local. Helps you and the business.

Glad we chose this spot for dinner and we were lucky they had 1 table left to give us. Great owners with a lot of personality. Food was excellent. Had some garlic bread, bruschetta and a diavalo pizza. Others had pasta and salad and everyone enjoyed. Bottle of Chianti was also very good and a great value. Don’t forget to order the homemade tiramisu!!

We LOVED Verena. We are a family with 4 young boys, and it’s a tiny (intimate and lovely!) restaurant, so we were delighted to eat outdoors to keep our noise away from disturbing other guests. The food was impeccable. The owner served us and we loved every dish. Turns out the tiramisu (which was perfect!) is made by his wife. We’d highly recommend this place!

Lovely Italian restaurant. Small space and friendly owner, exactly as it should be. Authentic, delicious food. Couldn't ask for anything more. Desert menu is limited, but that's no problem as the home made tiramisu is amazing and nothing else would be worth having instead.

We were there in the afternoon and received a very warm welcome. Everything looks inconspicuous from the outside, but very cozy inside. The owner was very active and genuinely looked after her guests. The food was good, the prices were reasonable (for Amsterdam). I can only recommend it.

And when the owner says that it is the best tiramisu you'll ever have, believe him, because it was! I had an amazing time, amazing food, and such a welcoming environment! Delicious Italian food (pasta) and top service! It's a pity that there are parking spaces in front of the door with cars that spoil the atmosphere of the square. This restaurant should ask the municipality to remove those places.

Wonderful! Walked in & immediately greeted with a warm welcome by the charming owner & everything was excellent. We had mista salad, lasagna, pasta vegetariana, bottle of red & finished with tiramisu (homebaked by Mrs owner) & cortado. All fresh & delicious and the atmosphere & music is fabulous too. So pleased we came here.

What a gem! This small Italian literally Mom and Pop restaurant was an incredible find. It may just seat 20 covers at a time even, and plan on being intimate with your neighbors, lol but a great place. Everything fresh made and piping hot! My wife and I both had the Lasagna with meat sauce made by the wife and garlic bread. I also had Tiramisu made by her. Everything else we saw come out was the same. We needed this on a whirlwind European road trip. Super nice owners/chefs. We didn't have a reservation but he fit us in. Just a great experience and I don't write these very often. Go there! An absolute must.

The food was delicious and authentic. The service was excellent - quick, courteous and very responsive. (It was probably the fastest service we’ve had in any restaurant in Amsterdam.) The only downside was that the space was rather tight. A group was seated near us and a member of their party was clearly ill with coughing and congestion. It would have been nice to have had a little more space between us and them.

Restaurant Verena is definitely recommended! When we arrived we received immediate service and were seated right away. After we ordered, we immediately received our drinks (the orange juice was freshly squeezed!) The pizza was also nice and hot and tasty. Price wise it was also reasonable. Distance from the station is also nice and close

We really enjoyed our meal here - excellent food, from the starter (tomato soup, garlic bread) through the mains (Carbonara and the best Arabbiata ever) and then the home made tiramisu. And it was good value too. We wanted to go back again before we left the city, but ran out of time - but I am sure we will be back and it is the first place we will head for.
