So everthing was perfect.Food was amazing especially the eggplant starter. I loved the tomato pasta. The waiters were amazing as well and they did the best they could howewer we felt they were a bit understaffed, having one more person as a waiter would be perfect.🙌

Pastai was an excellent italian restaurant. The food was excellent as was the service and ambiance. I got the bolognese which was excellent. My friend go the FLOWERS CACIO E PEPE. I shied away from the flowers dish because of the name, but next time I'm going to get it. If you don't want the "flowers" just push them to the side and this dish looked like an amazing pasta dish in a light cream sauce.

I come here every year, and the food never disappoints. It’s honestly one of the highlights of my trip. I would love to have a location in Hamburg – I’d be there all the time! Until then, I’ll keep coming back to Amsterdam just for this place. Highly recommend!

Great pasta but was not unforgettable… the service was amazing and the place is super nice!

A nice, well-kept place, not very large (about 7-8 tables). The food is good and well-presented, but overpriced. A bruschetta with anchovies and zucchini flowers (excellent) costs €21... a simple pasta dish €23, a dessert €11... if you're rich, it's worth it. Otherwise, shop around!

10/10. Honestly, very good! My wife and I had a lovely dinner here on Sunday evening (27.7.25). Their dishes are very simple, but done to perfection. Customer service and overall experience from start to finish was fantastic. We had the Cicchetti Di Stracciatella for starters, then the La Bolognese and the Spaghetti Al San Marzano for mains. I had the Tiramisu for dessert and the wife had a few Aperol’s. The food was gorgeous. It’s bit of a distance out of the “city centre”, but 10mins max by bike and worth every pedal. Also very reasonably priced for the high quality of food.

food was great and we had cacio e pepe and limoni and gamberi rossi and was very good. tiramisu was also authentic and enough for 2 people. all the staff were italian and really nice to us. would definitely come here again.

Very disappointing experience – not worth a cent! I visited this restaurant yesterday and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. I ordered the truffle pasta, which was so salty it was completely inedible. My friend had the "Flower Cacio e Pepe" – also just pure salt. The tiramisu? A watery mess served in a flower pot with some cocoa powder sprinkled on top. It was clearly old and honestly the worst tiramisu I've ever had. As for the Aperol Spritz – it was just a glass full of ice with a dry slice of orange. No flavor, no balance – just sad. To top it all off, both of us ended up with stomach aches after the meal. We paid €94 for this disaster, and it wasn’t worth a single cent. We left disappointed and regretful. Avoid this place!

Está ubicado cerca del Voldenpark, no muy céntrico. Es un restaurante muy bien puesto, de muy buena presentación, es más un restaurante de categoría para los locales que uno armado para turistas. Muy buena carta, con platos creados con productos de estación; muy buena atención y excelente presentación de los platos. Pero hicimos un pedido simple: un plato de pasta bien cocida y vinieron al dente; así que uno de los comensales no quedó satisfecho. Lo demás excelente

Nice service and delicious rage & truffle pasta

I liked it and would come back here again, but I would only just get pasta and nothing else. — The appetizers — Arancino with Tartar: really good! Tasty, flavorful, would recommend eating with the leaf that comes underneath it for additional herbal notes. The waiter asked if we wanted a 4th one since the appetizer only comes with 3 and there were two of us. We said sure, that’s really sweet. Turns out the arancinos are priced at 8€ a piece so it made the total 32€ for 4 bite size arancinos (not worth it in my book. Focaccia: decent, but when told 6 pieces I thought 6 full pieces and not little wedge slivers. They were good for soaking up the pasta sauces, but nothing more special than the free bed that comes at many Italian restaurants. Would not order again. — The pastas — Tagliolini all'astice (Lobster pasta): verrry good! Great flavor profile… the lobster tasted great, the sauce perfect consistency and the noodles themselves were perfect. No complaints, would order again. Vaccinara: Also incredible. I think decently priced for what you’re getting and very meaty (in a good way). The oxtail had a very stewy consistency, and I can imagine this dish being an exceptional menu item during the colder winter months. Also bonus points to this dish’s house made 40 yolk tagitalle, Pastai did a very good job with this. All in all, would order again. — The desserts — Did not order any desserts, but I was disappointed with this seasons dessert menu compared to past seasons. The options did not look near as good as the past offerings, and I hope they’ll rectify this before the season is up.

Wow. Food and service amazing in a great atmosphere. Went with family. We shared bruschetta, focaccia and prawn starters. So tasty and fresh. But the pasta was the real star - we had pasta with bolognaise and pasta with truffle - sooo good. This was a great experience and would highly recommend.

Wauw, Wauw, Wauw wat een toppertje. Via TripAdvisor hier gegeten. Dit restaurant verdient 5 sterren. Parkeren voor de deur. Waar zie je dat nog in Amsterdam. Knus gezellige sfeer. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Mooie kaart met allemaal top pasta's. Uitgebreide wijn kaart. We waren met 6 personen en zaten aan een ronde tafel. Als voorgerecht hebben we brood met olie en truffel boter en burrata gehad. Lekker brood en goede olie. Als hoofdgerecht 5 verschillende pasta's 2x de LOMONI D’AMALFI E GAMBERI ROSSI en de andere waren VACCINARA, LA BOLOGNESE en de SPAGHETTI PEPERONI E RICOTTA. Allemaal top. Als dessert nog de BABA’ AL RUM, 2x de TIRAMISÙ en nog de PICCOLA PASTICCERIA. En in af te sluiten lekker espresso. Dit is een aanrader in zowel ligging sfeer personeel en prijs kwaliteit verhouding. This place has been on my want to go list for forever and I finally made it. What a shame I hadn’t been earlier. This has been such a delicious meal that i immediately wanna go back. The ravioli were to die for. The service was super friendly with mostly (only ?) Italians working there. Such a great atmosphere and I will for sure be back to try more dishes.

I visited this establishment a few weeks ago after receiving a recommendation. I called ahead to let them know I was running a few minutes late (only 5 minutes), and they assured me it was no problem. However, upon arrival, I was refused entry because I was “late,” and they cited it as their policy — despite our phone conversation. I explained that I had called and received verbal confirmation, but they still refused to seat me and my guest. I then asked for a refund for the deposit, which they also denied, again referring to their policy. What was especially disappointing was witnessing another guest — who arrived over 10 minutes late — being allowed in. I understood the language being spoken and heard staff talking about me behind my back, which was both unprofessional and disrespectful. As a frequent traveler and someone who is passionate about food — both personally and professionally — I cannot recommend this place. Had there been any effort at resolution, even a refund, I wouldn’t have written this review. But due to the poor customer service and lack of integrity, I’m left thoroughly disappointed and would advise others to steer clear of this restaurant.

Best pasta in Amsterdam! High end home made pasta dishes inspired from puglia. The chef is an ex Michelin star cook, and the dishes are very tasteful and fully homemade. Small and cosy, nothing fancy but the food is fantastic

The pasta itself was reasonably tasty. A bit on the salty side, but that could be me. But the price is really absurdly high, even for Amsterdam standards. Portions are rather small and it remains pasta with some mini amounts of vegetables and nothing else.

Pastai was delicious. The lemon pasta, which unfortunately I don’t remember the exact name of, was incredible. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere – everything – was amazing. Definitely one of the places I want to go back to!

It was my 5th visit ... one of my favorite spots in Amsterdam. Whenever i am visiting the city - Pastai is the must! )

Fantastic dinner. We had booked the “chefs table”, where you can see how the delicious dishes are made. The conversation with the Chef was also very nice, because he could talk passionately about his food and Italian culture. As a starter we had the CRUDO DI TONNO E TARTUFO, you MUST order this when you are here, the umami dressing really goes perfectly with it. The pastas were also so delicious that we ordered another one, because we wanted to taste them all. With a small hole left, we still shared the Tiramisu, which was actually very light and not as heavy with biscuit and full cream as we are used to. The service was very nice and helpful! Pastai is now definitely one of our favorite Italian restaurants. With the pasta bolognese and spicy soft red wine (Barbera D’Alba Sposabella) we were back on holiday in Tuscany :)

Pastai is such a nice spot – proper Italian comfort food. The pasta tastes fresh and homemade, you can tell they care about what they’re serving. It’s not overly fancy, just really good food in a cozy setting. The portions are solid too, you leave full and happy. Staff are friendly and easygoing, which makes the whole vibe super relaxed. I usually go for one of their classic pastas and it always hits the spot. Feels like a little hidden gem – not too loud, not too packed, just right. Definitely a go-to when I’m craving proper pasta.

You just need to try this restaurant! Professional service and just amazing food that you want to order again and again and again!!!

Pasta was amazing, fresh and with generous amount of sauce. Cacio a pepe a bit too salty for me, but might just be a matter of preference. I can totally recommend them for the food quality itself. The portions are a bit small though, and there’s simply no cacio e pepe dish that is worth 21€. And other pasta plates ranging from 28-33€. I’m sorry, but it’s just pasta at the end of the day. Sure with some sauce but it’s overpriced, even for Amsterdam.

I visited Pastai last Saturday evening before heading to a concert and was immediately impressed by the warm welcome. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, and our table (facing their signature? group seating area) offered an inviting view of the restaurant’s beautiful interior. We Ordered La Melanzana Flowers Cacio e Pepe and Crema Di Broccoli e Vongole Our server took great care in describing each dish, which made ordering a pleasure. However, there was a small mix-up: when I asked whether the pasta contained crab, she confirmed that it did. But we discovered on arrival that it was actually clam. It seems the pronunciation got lost in translation. While it wasn’t what I originally hoped for, the quality was good enough that I happily gave it a try. What Went Well * Service & Ambiance: Every team member we encountered was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The décor and seating layout created a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. * Presentation: Both pasta were beautifully plated, and the starter was delightful. Room for Improvement * Seasoning: Both pasta dishes were noticeably over-salted. As someone who’s lived in London and frequently travels to Italy, I’ve sampled many authentic Italian restaurants and here, it felt as though excess salt (rather than cheese) drove the flavor. I’d love to see a more balanced seasoning next time. Overall, Pastai offers a lovely dining environment and top-notch service. With a slight adjustment to their pasta seasoning, this could become one of Amsterdam’s go to Italian spots. I look forward to returning and tasting a perfectly balanced plate !

The reservation stated that the reservation was from 9:30-11:30. They did not give us a seat when I emailed them I will be coming late. Ended up getting charged 40 EUROs for no food and terrible explanation.

The food was good, but the service was strange in a way. We were almost forced to order a wine bottle just after sitting, when we rejected for the third time, we mentioned that some of us would not drink, the waiter asked “why not?”, seriously?!? After the 3 previous pushes from the waiter, we did not consider this as joke. Afterwards, this waiter barely considered us, my friend asked for a photo, he said “I’m coming in 1 minute”, he never came.

Unfortunately, this restaurant was very disappointing. The service was slow and forgot our order several times. Our food was also brought much too late. The food looked delicious in the pictures, but in reality it was disappointing. Only the pasta bolognese had a reasonable taste; the rest was bland or not well prepared. All in all, I think this restaurant is heavily overrated.

This is the kind of restaurant where they think that by presenting the food on a nice plate, they can charge three times the price. When you look at the quality of the food, the look, the location, and the price-quality ratio, they fall short in almost everything. The only positive thing I can think of was the service. It is way too crowded inside for the space they have at their disposal. Add some children and heavily overpriced pastas and you have an exhausting 1.5 hours. For only 184 euros we got three small, below average tasting pastas and two of the cheapest bottles of wine. There are real Italians behind the stove, but unfortunately the taste did not come along. We came thanks to the advice of a friend who I will not ask the same question again.

It was an amazing dinner and lovely time here, food was good and service was great. Surely we will come back 😍 The tartare di Tonno is a spot on, highly recommended.

We came across this place during a walk in Amsterdam and it won us over immediately. While we were waiting for the table, one of the guys on the staff prepared a pasta with sauce for our daughter: a gesture of kindness and attention that deeply touched us. The food was simply delicious. Fresh handmade pasta, authentic and quality Italian products, and dishes cooked with passion. The flavors were genuine, well balanced and made us feel at home, in Italy. A beautiful experience, not only for the palate but also for the welcome. Highly recommended to those looking for real Italian cuisine in Amsterdam with a human touch that makes the difference. We will definitely be back!

I was in Amsterdam with my partner and we went to eat at PASTAI. I think it's one of the restaurants where I ate better not even in Milan. I ate such good, refined dishes with high quality raw materials. I will return often every time I come to Amsterdam. I recommend it to everyone.

Delicious and unlike any “Italian” restaurant I’ve been to (outside of Italy). Wonderful service. We had the tuna antipasto and I had the shrimp pasta. Original and wonderful! We asked for recommendations for wine pairing and were very pleased! Highly recommend.

They’re super selective with ingredients , and it shows in every bite. The pasta is fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Don’t miss the raw tuna with truffle and “arancino” with tuna tartare and chilo mayo : they’re absolute must-tries! Plus , their wine list is rich , refined , and full of perfect pairings. And the staff?? Warm , knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate They make you feel right at home. A must-visit for any food lover!

I was here with my family last night, a restaurant for connoisseurs, tuna arancino is fantastic as is the vaccinia (a sauce that is almost impossible to find even in Rome) my wife had the truffle and was amazed by the quality, we were afraid they would use the classic truffle creams that they generally use abroad but instead it passed with flying colours. Thanks for the lovely evening

Nice people and really good food!

This place is a SCAM!!!!! As we walked in the place smelled horrible so we had to eat outside. The truffle pasta I ordered was actually carbonara pasta with just a few slices of truffle which didn’t even taste like anything. Not worth 30€!! Also the pasta was hard and cold, looked like it came from the fridge. Do not recommend at all expensive prices and very bad quality, to avoid!

I was looking forward to try this place as it has been on my go to list. However, I was disappointed the service was very slow therefore I could not really enjoy the experience. For the price they charge I expected a premium experience. Unfortunately they fell short.

Must say, the Best Italian restaurant you can find in Amsterdam so far. Cozy elegant interiors and excellent staff. Counting my self, more than 60 references on wine List, from common but still precious till fine and top quality. Perfect timing on service and well presented dishes. The chef recommend to start with sharing antipasti, we'v got Melanzana and Crudo di tonno, both amazing. Main courses with Tagliolini all'Astice and Spaghetti with rabe broccoli and shrimps 10 out of 10. Closing perfect with their Piccola pasticceria. Good job guys and see you for sure next time

I thought the starter and main course were incredible, really delicious but somewhat let down by the dessert which tasted quite nice but was dry. Edit: Sorry, I can’t reply to your comment, I can’t remember the name of the dessert but I’ve uploaded a photo of it, it was a chocolate cake with orange (would be the best way I could describe it), hope that helps.

The best Italian restaurant in Amsterdam I have known! Very friendly services and cozy atmosphere.

We had a great time! The staff were very friendly and the chef not only gave us excellent recommendations but also made the effort to speak to us in French — such a thoughtful touch!

Rude staff at the door, bald man. Edit: I omitted this previously, alas from the response I've received I will mention that the online booking did not work days prior, and there were very evidently free tables that were 'booked', despite it being 'near closing time'. We also were able to easily walk into a lovely Italian 15 minutes away who understood our situation and treated us like people. I think the criticism is valid, personally. Maybe you'll treat the next customers better than us.

Not too many tables, so not too noisy. we were sitting in front of the chefs, they are super friendly and we discussed together about various topics - it is cool to see them prepare customers meals and helped us to choose ours. friendly service bit pricey but this is amsterdam, it is what it is. great selection of wines.

Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in Amsterdam! - Dishes are extremely well curated and every detail is on purpose. Great taste and very original options - Atmosphere inside is very cosy, laid back but also elegant. I really liked their design - The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, was a great pleasure to be having a chat with them - It is well connected to the rest of Amsterdam and located in a very charming neighbourhood Definitely recommend having a try!

I guess the social media manager is yet again specific of the stories she/he reshares. Giving it a excluding feeling as it’s odd to repost almost everyone yet not………. Be grateful for every share or mention as guests don’t need to! Overall the food is beyond and it’s amazing that there is mainly Italians working and the food is authentic Italian too. The chef in charge is Italian and I heard the owner as well. The truffle pasta is stunning. Rich of flavour, texture of the pasta is perfection and you feel like sitting at a fancy restaurant in a modern Italian city like Milan. Stay is thoughtful. I got a piece of bread to dip in the remaining truffle butter liquid of my plate. Besides wines they serve a great offer of cocktails with the right strength of alcohol. Worth every penny but work on the SM thing ;)

The food is so good here we try to go at least once when in Amsterdam. There have been some changes made to the place both cosmetically but also in the kitchen but the service and the food remain super. We were greeted at the door and welcomed back , which is nice , we sat at the chef's table again to watch them do what we can't replicate at home. Eat here you will not be disappointed

Not many Italian restaurants in Amsterdam can compare to this one, in relation to quality of food + service. Pasta = perfection (try classic bolognese, why not) + Tiramisu in flower pots makes super cute presentations while flavors are heavenly (quite possible the best I’ve ever tried). The experience at Pastai is unforgettable. The food is of excellent quality. The place is cared for down to the smallest detail, the staff is very kind and professional, the owners are attentive and friendly. The pasta is infinitely delicious. If I ever return to Amsterdam I will happily eat here again. It's not easy to find a place outside Italy where you eat well: at Pastai you eat very well!!!!!

The place is very nice, and the menu showcases authentic Italian cuisine. However, we ordered several dishes, which were beautifully presented but all rather tasteless. The most disappointing was the “tagliolini all’astice”, it was covered in plenty of sauce, yet surprisingly lacked flavour. Additionally, the lobster was not cooked properly.

Ho cenato da Pastai per due sere durante il mio soggiorno ad Amsterdam, ho provato quasi tutti gli antipasti (terra e mare) e sono di una bontà infinita. Il Tonno crudo con il tartufo è ottimo, le polpette con il brasato da lasciarti senza parole. Una sera ho assaggiato la Cacio e Pepe, devo dire che è più buona di quella mangiata nel miglior ristorante a Roma e poi ho assaggiato il primo con l’Anatra e i porcini, si scioglieva in bocca ed era un gusto difficile da descrivere a parole.
