The service is impeccable, however food was too salty for both of us (even though we ordered 2 different pastas). After a request to remake it, we were told that the sauce is premade and frozen and it’s impossible to make it less salty. It was also served veeery quickly which was weird, bcs pasta takes to time to cook, so I assume most of the ingredients are frozen. Now I read previous reviews and I see that “salty” problem persists, so I really hope owner of the place reads those reviews, because for this kind of money, the food should be perfect.

The waiter were lovely and very helpful, the place is very cozy, but the lobster in the tagliolini all'astice ordered were slightly undercooked and it missed a little bit of flavor. I mistook previously the word lobster for prawn, but it was not a tartare. It can provide a good time for the ambience, but I particularly wouldn't recommend it only for the food

Lovely place. The food was delicious and the service was super friendly. The only downside – the pasta with prawn tartare was way too salty. The waitress said it was because of the pecorino, but honestly it tasted like someone added a big extra pinch of salt on top. Still tasty, just overly salted🌚

The restaurant is very cute, cozy and well styled. The staff is welcoming and friendly. The food was very good, we also took some appetizers (crostini with scamorza and mushrooms and the pumpkin vellutata). Four stars are for the total price of the night.

We came here for the second time and once again had a sublimely delicious meal. What a fantastic restaurant! The warm welcome, the delicious pastas, and the joy of watching the chefs at work in the open kitchen—very inspiring. The crudo di tonno remains our favorite appetizer, but really, everything is delicious. In short, a top-notch experience that we highly recommend. The Chef's Table is a must-try. If we lived near Amsterdam, we'd come here weekly!

A truly authenthic Italian restaurant. We had the Lobster Tagliolini - pasta was cooked al dente perfectly, the sauce from the lobster bisque added depth of flavour into the dish. The Parpadelle with duck ragout was a new combo we never heard before and it was superb!

We had dinner here with a friend on a Saturday night. We hadn't made a reservation, but there was still a table available for 2.5 hours. It's a small, intimate restaurant with an open kitchen. The staff is Italian 😌. We were assigned a sommelier for the wine, who suggested the perfect wine based on my preferences 👌🏾. The menu isn't extensive, but it has plenty of choices. For our appetizer, we had the focaccia with olive oil and tuna marinated in smoked vinegar and topped with truffle. Man, oh man, oh man, that tuna: divine! Hopefully, this will be a permanent feature on the menu. The mild sweet and sour marinade combined with the slice of truffle on top—brilliant! I'm not a big fan of truffle, but this was incredibly delicious. The bread, however, was tough. My friend can only eat gluten-free, but there were plenty of options. We had the pasta with osso buco ragout and the spaghetti with stracciatella. Both pastas were so flavorful. The deep flavors in the osso buco ragout, I can taste them again. That red, creamy cheese sauce with the spaghetti was a-ma-zing!!! Of course, we finished with dessert: tiramisu and affogato. The tiramisu was so fresh, light, rich, and creamy, served in a flowerpot—delicious. The affogato martini was also very good. I don't like coffee myself, but I tried it anyway—it was delicious. You pay a bit more in this restaurant, but it's more than worth it. The service was also excellent—very attentive, clean, and professional! And last but not least, the restroom is beautifully tiled, spacious, fresh, and clean. We ate here for the second time. The pastas were sooooo delicious, I almost wanted to dance. This time I sat at the chef's table. It was fun to watch the dishes being prepared and presented with perfection. This time we had the pasta bolognese and the "autumn" pasta with duck and mushrooms. Wow, wow, wow. The flavors are so intense, and you can taste every fresh ingredient. This restaurant is now THE ITALIAN restaurant to visit. Thank you! 👌🏾👌🏾 Thank you!!

Shocking service, it takes a long time for the dishes to arrive There is a waitress there who is curly like a sheep. I clearly asked her for pasta without parmesan. The dish arrived with I told her that I asked you without and she actually lied to my face and claimed that it was not, I returned it and said that it was her mistake.. An intimate, beautiful place with super-welcoming staff. I don't usually go to Italian restaurants abroad, but a friend highly recommended it, so we decided to try it. We ate wonderfully! The arancini with tuna tartare were truly sublime. Kudos to the chef, who didn't overturn our gastronomic culture to pay homage to the city where he's located, adapting the cuisine to the locals' tastes. The cuisine remains authentic Italian, not strictly traditional, but truly excellent. I look for places like this in Italy. My compliments to the girls in the dining room!

Pastai was an excellent italian restaurant. The food was excellent as was the service and ambiance. I got the bolognese which was excellent. My friend go the FLOWERS CACIO E PEPE. I shied away from the flowers dish because of the name, but next time I'm going to get it. If you don't want the "flowers" just push them to the side and this dish looked like an amazing pasta dish in a light cream sauce.

A nice, well-kept place, not very large (about 7-8 tables). The food is good and well-presented, but overpriced. A bruschetta with anchovies and zucchini flowers (excellent) costs €21... a simple pasta dish €23, a dessert €11... if you're rich, it's worth it. Otherwise, shop around!

10/10. Honestly, very good! My wife and I had a lovely dinner here on Sunday evening (27.7.25). Their dishes are very simple, but done to perfection. Customer service and overall experience from start to finish was fantastic. We had the Cicchetti Di Stracciatella for starters, then the La Bolognese and the Spaghetti Al San Marzano for mains. I had the Tiramisu for dessert and the wife had a few Aperol’s. The food was gorgeous. It’s bit of a distance out of the “city centre”, but 10mins max by bike and worth every pedal. Also very reasonably priced for the high quality of food.

Very disappointing experience – not worth a cent! I visited this restaurant yesterday and unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. I ordered the truffle pasta, which was so salty it was completely inedible. My friend had the "Flower Cacio e Pepe" – also just pure salt. The tiramisu? A watery mess served in a flower pot with some cocoa powder sprinkled on top. It was clearly old and honestly the worst tiramisu I've ever had. As for the Aperol Spritz – it was just a glass full of ice with a dry slice of orange. No flavor, no balance – just sad. To top it all off, both of us ended up with stomach aches after the meal. We paid €94 for this disaster, and it wasn’t worth a single cent. We left disappointed and regretful. Avoid this place!

I liked it and would come back here again, but I would only just get pasta and nothing else. — The appetizers — Arancino with Tartar: really good! Tasty, flavorful, would recommend eating with the leaf that comes underneath it for additional herbal notes. The waiter asked if we wanted a 4th one since the appetizer only comes with 3 and there were two of us. We said sure, that’s really sweet. Turns out the arancinos are priced at 8€ a piece so it made the total 32€ for 4 bite size arancinos (not worth it in my book. Focaccia: decent, but when told 6 pieces I thought 6 full pieces and not little wedge slivers. They were good for soaking up the pasta sauces, but nothing more special than the free bed that comes at many Italian restaurants. Would not order again. — The pastas — Tagliolini all'astice (Lobster pasta): verrry good! Great flavor profile… the lobster tasted great, the sauce perfect consistency and the noodles themselves were perfect. No complaints, would order again. Vaccinara: Also incredible. I think decently priced for what you’re getting and very meaty (in a good way). The oxtail had a very stewy consistency, and I can imagine this dish being an exceptional menu item during the colder winter months. Also bonus points to this dish’s house made 40 yolk tagitalle, Pastai did a very good job with this. All in all, would order again. — The desserts — Did not order any desserts, but I was disappointed with this seasons dessert menu compared to past seasons. The options did not look near as good as the past offerings, and I hope they’ll rectify this before the season is up.

Wow. Food and service amazing in a great atmosphere. Went with family. We shared bruschetta, focaccia and prawn starters. So tasty and fresh. But the pasta was the real star - we had pasta with bolognaise and pasta with truffle - sooo good. This was a great experience and would highly recommend.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Mooie kaart met allemaal top pasta's. Uitgebreide wijn kaart. We waren met 6 personen en zaten aan een ronde tafel. Als voorgerecht hebben we brood met olie en truffel boter en burrata gehad. Lekker brood en goede olie. Als hoofdgerecht 5 verschillende pasta's 2x de LOMONI D’AMALFI E GAMBERI ROSSI en de andere waren VACCINARA, LA BOLOGNESE en de SPAGHETTI PEPERONI E RICOTTA. Allemaal top. Als dessert nog de BABA’ AL RUM, 2x de TIRAMISÙ en nog de PICCOLA PASTICCERIA. En in af te sluiten lekker espresso. Dit is een aanrader in zowel ligging sfeer personeel en prijs kwaliteit verhouding. This place has been on my want to go list for forever and I finally made it. What a shame I hadn’t been earlier. This has been such a delicious meal that i immediately wanna go back. I visited this establishment a few weeks ago after receiving a recommendation. I called ahead to let them know I was running a few minutes late (only 5 minutes), and they assured me it was no problem. However, upon arrival, I was refused entry because I was “late,” and they cited it as their policy — despite our phone conversation. I explained that I had called and received verbal confirmation, but they still refused to seat me and my guest. I then asked for a refund for the deposit, which they also denied, again referring to their policy. What was especially disappointing was witnessing another guest — who arrived over 10 minutes late — being allowed in. I understood the language being spoken and heard staff talking about me behind my back, which was both unprofessional and disrespectful. As a frequent traveler and someone who is passionate about food — both personally and professionally — I cannot recommend this place. Had there been any effort at resolution, even a refund, I wouldn’t have written this review. But due to the poor customer service and lack of integrity, I’m left thoroughly disappointed and would advise others to steer clear of this restaurant.

Fantastic dinner. We had booked the “chefs table”, where you can see how the delicious dishes are made. The conversation with the Chef was also very nice, because he could talk passionately about his food and Italian culture. As a starter we had the CRUDO DI TONNO E TARTUFO, you MUST order this when you are here, the umami dressing really goes perfectly with it. The pastas were also so delicious that we ordered another one, because we wanted to taste them all. With a small hole left, we still shared the Tiramisu, which was actually very light and not as heavy with biscuit and full cream as we are used to. The service was very nice and helpful! Pastai is now definitely one of our favorite Italian restaurants. With the pasta bolognese and spicy soft red wine (Barbera D’Alba Sposabella) we were back on holiday in Tuscany :)

Pastai is such a nice spot – proper Italian comfort food. The pasta tastes fresh and homemade, you can tell they care about what they’re serving. It’s not overly fancy, just really good food in a cozy setting. The portions are solid too, you leave full and happy. Staff are friendly and easygoing, which makes the whole vibe super relaxed. I usually go for one of their classic pastas and it always hits the spot. Feels like a little hidden gem – not too loud, not too packed, just right. Definitely a go-to when I’m craving proper pasta.

Pasta was amazing, fresh and with generous amount of sauce. Cacio a pepe a bit too salty for me, but might just be a matter of preference. I can totally recommend them for the food quality itself. The portions are a bit small though, and there’s simply no cacio e pepe dish that is worth 21€. And other pasta plates ranging from 28-33€. I’m sorry, but it’s just pasta at the end of the day. Sure with some sauce but it’s overpriced, even for Amsterdam.

I visited Pastai last Saturday evening before heading to a concert and was immediately impressed by the warm welcome. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles, and our table (facing their signature? group seating area) offered an inviting view of the restaurant’s beautiful interior. We Ordered La Melanzana Flowers Cacio e Pepe and Crema Di Broccoli e Vongole Our server took great care in describing each dish, which made ordering a pleasure. However, there was a small mix-up: when I asked whether the pasta contained crab, she confirmed that it did. But we discovered on arrival that it was actually clam. It seems the pronunciation got lost in translation. While it wasn’t what I originally hoped for, the quality was good enough that I happily gave it a try. What Went Well * Service & Ambiance: Every team member we encountered was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. The décor and seating layout created a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. * Presentation: Both pasta were beautifully plated, and the starter was delightful. Room for Improvement * Seasoning: Both pasta dishes were noticeably over-salted. As someone who’s lived in London and frequently travels to Italy, I’ve sampled many authentic Italian restaurants and here, it felt as though excess salt (rather than cheese) drove the flavor. I’d love to see a more balanced seasoning next time. Overall, Pastai offers a lovely dining environment and top-notch service. With a slight adjustment to their pasta seasoning, this could become one of Amsterdam’s go to Italian spots. I look forward to returning and tasting a perfectly balanced plate !

The food was good, but the service was strange in a way. We were almost forced to order a wine bottle just after sitting, when we rejected for the third time, we mentioned that some of us would not drink, the waiter asked “why not?”, seriously?!? After the 3 previous pushes from the waiter, we did not consider this as joke. Afterwards, this waiter barely considered us, my friend asked for a photo, he said “I’m coming in 1 minute”, he never came.

Unfortunately, this restaurant was very disappointing. The service was slow and forgot our order several times. Our food was also brought much too late. The food looked delicious in the pictures, but in reality it was disappointing. Only the pasta bolognese had a reasonable taste; the rest was bland or not well prepared. All in all, I think this restaurant is heavily overrated.

This is the kind of restaurant where they think that by presenting the food on a nice plate, they can charge three times the price. When you look at the quality of the food, the look, the location, and the price-quality ratio, they fall short in almost everything. The only positive thing I can think of was the service. It is way too crowded inside for the space they have at their disposal. Add some children and heavily overpriced pastas and you have an exhausting 1.5 hours. For only 184 euros we got three small, below average tasting pastas and two of the cheapest bottles of wine. There are real Italians behind the stove, but unfortunately the taste did not come along. We came thanks to the advice of a friend who I will not ask the same question again.

We came across this place during a walk in Amsterdam and it won us over immediately. While we were waiting for the table, one of the guys on the staff prepared a pasta with sauce for our daughter: a gesture of kindness and attention that deeply touched us. The food was simply delicious. Fresh handmade pasta, authentic and quality Italian products, and dishes cooked with passion. The flavors were genuine, well balanced and made us feel at home, in Italy. A beautiful experience, not only for the palate but also for the welcome. This restaurant serves some of the most authentic Southern Italian food. Starting with the Zuppa di pomodoro (tomato soup), which feels just like grandma’s cooking. The soup was perfectly balanced. The main dishes were the pasta Tartufo and the pizza Verena. The pasta was the highlight of the whole meal. It tasted fresh, as if it were homemade, and the sauce complemented it beautifully. The pizza was delicious and crispy. Finalizing with their homemade tiramisu and espresso macchiato was boosting our experience in this loving and friendly place.

We ordered spaghetti carbonara twice, and both people shortly afterward showed symptoms of food poisoning: fever, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, headache, and dizziness. They were unable to do anything but lie in bed for one to two days. It's impossible that the food came from anything other than the pasta, as both people had the same symptoms and had eaten different things besides the spaghetti.

Pianeta Terra is a rare gem in Amsterdam. The Italian owners, who have lived here for 25 years, have rebuilt the true spirit of Italian cooking by putting territory and seasonality at the centre of every choice. They work with local producers and Slow Food Presidia, creating dishes that start from Italian tradition but are shaped by what the Dutch land offers in each season. The result is sincere, original and incredibly good. It was honestly one of the best meals I have ever had. I had fish and my husband had meat and both were exceptional. The fish in particular was unbelievably tender, with a depth of flavour I had never experienced before. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the respect with which they are treated. Dessert was unforgettable, a tiramisù with a subtle Japanese twist and a delicate rice pudding on top. A surprising combination that made the whole experience even more memorable. Pianeta Terra is a beautiful meeting point between Italy and the Netherlands and absolutely worth a visit.
