A charming restaurant in one of the most refined areas of central Amsterdam. The chef is 100% Italian. Modern cuisine uses local ingredients with an Italian flair and style. To start, they serve bread baked in-house using 20-year-old sourdough, Gaeta olives, and chickpea hummus. For my appetizer, I ordered an off-the-menu item of the day: a shortcrust pastry shell filled with scallops and calamari, topped with a delicious sauce. For my first course, I had linguine with seafood pesto, mussels, and clams. My second course was a wild sea bass fillet with potatoes, cavolo nero, and endive. For dessert, a crispy cream puff with pistachios. Everything was absolutely delicious. Friendly, Italian-speaking staff. Reasonable prices. Wide wine selection.

Not only is the establishment beautiful and does it exude a warm, luxurious atmosphere, but the food is also truly outstanding. A big compliment to the service: we were guided through all the dishes and wines in an enthusiastic and personal manner. Our host truly made the evening complete for us. All in all, a 10/10.

What a fantastic experience at this restaurant on Beulingstraat. Everything was taken care of down to the last detail, and the atmosphere was incredibly pleasant. The dishes were works of art on the plate, every single one of them. The presentation of the fish dish, in particular, with the bright orange roe and fresh greens, was impressive. It was truly a delight for both the eyes and the taste buds. We had a wonderful evening here. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding with every course we were served. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food in Amsterdam.

One of the best set menu with wine pairing that we’ve had 🍽️🍷 the food was great and every dish was elevated by an accurate wine pairing. The place is elegant with very good music playing in the background and perfect service.

We had a lovely dinner to celebrate a birthday. The chef’s menu and wine pairing was delicious. Very friendly and helpful service. They’ve been in business for 25 years-a testament to the quality of the food and wine.

One word: fantastic. What delicious and innovative dishes. Italian with an Asian twist. Bavette with Kimchi, Tempeh Arancini, and Rigatoni with duck ragu. And that combined with delicious wines, of which the Sicilian bubbles stayed with me the most. That said, if you’re expecting a traditional Italian restaurant with a large menu, this isn’t it. The menu is intentionally small and changes weekly, so it’s worth checking online before your visit to make sure the offerings appeal to you.

Was looking for a basque cheesecake on Google maps and found this restaurant. Ordered a basque cheesecake with pistachio paste and chocolate sauce and some herbal virgin wine. Was disappointed that it wasn't a version with lemon curd and rhubarb bc I've seen it in photos but I haven't checked the menu before ordering. Cheesecake was good although it had a touch starchy feel, pistachio paste was subtle but I don't think chocolate sauce was a good addition. Chilled water was free. I could taste the wine before ordering. Waiter was very friendly. The rooms felt cramped.

Warm and intimate atmosphere and amazing service! A true Italian restaurant, but with a bold Asian touch. Great care is also taken with the presentation of the dishes, a beautiful wine pairing, and special non-alcoholic options as well. As we have come to expect by now, everything is perfect. The food and wines are fantastic, as are the owners and the service. Everything you need for an evening of enjoyment is there!

Pianeta Terra was one of those rare restaurant surprises where I went in expecting a nice dinner and left thinking, “Well, where did that come from?” The food is creative, seasonal Italian cooking, but not in the predictable red-sauce-and-safe-pasta way. Their own menu backs that up: think rolled aubergine with mozzarella and asparagus, monkfish in guazzetto, lamb with polenta and friggitelli, and desserts like Basque cheesecake with pistachio and miso caramel. They also offer 4 and 5 course chef’s menus, which is absolutely the move. The menu is limited, and I can see how someone looking for generic Italian comfort food might not love that. I actually found it refreshing. It feels like a small, thoughtful restaurant cooking what it wants to cook, not a place trying to please every tourist who wandered in hungry for spaghetti. The 4 course chef’s menu is listed at €65 and the 5 course at €75, with wine pairings at €36 and €45, which is very fair for this level of food. Our dinner was roughly $100 per person with wine, and in Amsterdam that almost felt like someone made an accounting error in our favor. Service was wonderful. Not Michelin-flawless choreography, but honestly more memorable in some ways. The owner seemed a little frosty at first, then turned into a total sweetheart and made the evening feel genuinely warm, not performative. The restaurant has also been recognized by 50 Top Italy, which ranked it 31st among the best Italian restaurants outside Italy and described it as creative cuisine with an Italian soul, built around organic products, local suppliers, and small Italian producers. That tracks with the meal. I’d rate it somewhere around 4.5 to 4.7, rounded up to a 5. I don’t get surprised often, and this one got me. Best for a quiet, memorable evening out where you want something interesting but not painfully formal. Order à la carte if you must, but the tasting menu is the right call. Just come hungry, because the 4 and 5 course options are not tiny little “blink and it’s gone” fine dining portions.

We had one amazing experience. The restaurant has been on my list for some time and it was worth it. we had the 5 course menu with wine pairing. We enjoyed beautiful wines from very small wine makers from Italy and delicious and complex yet simple dishes. The fact that 1 chef produces this all from his small kitchen.. BRAVO!!!

Our experience at Pianeta Terra was disappointing. The four-course chef’s menu took four hours, with 1 hour 15 minutes before the first course arrived. The lamb was cooked but full of inedible fat, and two bell peppers (the only veggie) were almost raw and cold. It felt like the chef cooks out of obligation rather than passion, making it hard to understand what the restaurant stands for. On the positive side, the service was friendly.

Had a terrible experience, one star is still too much. I planned a romantic date with my wife after a long time, as we have a 1.5-year-old baby, so I was really hoping for a lovely evening. This restaurant had been on my list for years; it looked amazing, innovative, and above all, delicious. I mentioned beforehand that I couldn't eat gluten, having celiac disease (never an issue at restaurants in Italy), and I called the same day to confirm, but it wasn't an issue. When push came to shove, we discussed the menu with the waiter. He asked about other allergies, and we told him that lactose is sometimes an issue, but that we have pills for it, so unlike the gluten, it shouldn't be a real issue as long as we didn't get Buratta. He said, no, don't worry, we'll make it lactose-free. The first course was delicious, special, with a nice wine. Simply perfect. The second course, pasta with bottarga, was served the same pasta. Gluten-free, a must for me, but for my wife, it was a real shame. Especially because the pasta tasted like cardboard. You'd think: well, it's gluten-free pasta, so it's less tasty, but my extensive experience eating pasta at home and in Italy makes that a bit too easy for me. I told the waiter, but he didn't bother. After 20 minutes, my wife did get a plate of "normal" pasta. Third course: venison steak with a delicious jus and spinach, tasty but not particularly special. For the fourth course, the waiter came over to us to say: "This is a case of: we're sorry, because they didn't have a dessert that met the criteria." He added: "Normally, we could have given you a scoop of sorbet, but we don't have that today." We sat there… bewildered, irritated, and actually quite sad. He did something with the bill that we still don't understand, and we ended up paying €175. We left the restaurant incredibly sad and completely disillusioned. It's nice to be among the best restaurants of the 50s! But this was a truly sad and unwelcoming experience. The waiter didn't seem to be trying and acted more like it was our problem... Such a shame... Never going back!!!

Fantastic experience, I loved all the white wines paired with my food. My favourite are the langiustine bisque and the tonnarelli with black garlic and calamari. Service Is outstanding, I totally recommend to eat at Pianeta Terra and I will go again

There are times when I almost get used to the non-taste Dutch-bravery-style appetite killing restaurants and then I run into a place like this. And no, I don't have any shares. First, great service: calm and attentiveness instead of arrogance, and good timing so one can relax. Also, a lot of attention paid to the dishes (not just shiny but just really well made) and the nice wine pairing. It was a quiet late evening and I especially appreciated that they had seated people wide apart. The restaurant is located just away from all the tourist frenzy. Prices being very very reasonable, I can certainly recommend it.

Pianeta Terra is a rare gem in Amsterdam. The Italian owners, who have lived here for 25 years, have rebuilt the true spirit of Italian cooking by putting territory and seasonality at the centre of every choice. They work with local producers and Slow Food Presidia, creating dishes that start from Italian tradition but are shaped by what the Dutch land offers in each season. The result is sincere, original and incredibly good. It was honestly one of the best meals I have ever had. I had fish and my husband had meat and both were exceptional. The fish in particular was unbelievably tender, with a depth of flavour I had never experienced before. You can taste the quality of the ingredients and the respect with which they are treated. Dessert was unforgettable, a tiramisù with a subtle Japanese twist and a delicate rice pudding on top. A surprising combination that made the whole experience even more memorable. Pianeta Terra is a beautiful meeting point between Italy and the Netherlands and absolutely worth a visit.

Really wonderful restaurant in the center of Amsterdam. The location is very comfortable. Tucked away in an unassuming side street, the interior is well laid out and intelligently decorated with interesting pieces. The service was very attentive, leaving us to want for nothing. We tried the tasting menu with wine pairing, and were quite pleased with each of the dishes. It is important to note that this is not Italian cuisine, but an eclectic mix of European with some Asian influences, crafted by Italians (so of course very well executed). Each dish was well-balanced and had a solid flavor profile. Not overly complex but well done in each case. I will say that the one dish that stood out was an Asian-inspired starter involving a number of ingredients including cuttlefish and black rice. That particular dish was complex but perfectly done, and was the highlight of the evening. If that level of complexity could be incorporated into more of the dishes, the menu could only improve. The wine pairing I will also applaud, as each wine of our five courses was perfectly matched to the dish, including two styles which I normally am not fond of, but found in this case to be both complementary and enjoyable. Overall, a very enjoyable evening which motivates my imminent return. Well done.

Especially points for the cozy location and professional service, but the food was unfortunately much less than expected. You don't immediately expect the exact same dishes as those on the menu. If I knew that, you'd just choose what you liked best. I also found the main course, the pork neck, really disappointing. You expect a really nice piece of beef or fish, but not this. The dessert was messy and unremarkable. The pasta dish was, of the four courses, very tasty. Plenty of wine by the glass, which is generally nice. Unfortunately, the first glass of red wine tasted "flat," and the second glass of red "not good." I'd really prefer a minimal selection and a nice, full-bodied wine. The service was friendly, but you choose such a beautiful place for the food, of course.

Beautiful and especially delicious Italian dishes. It's like receiving a gift every time. Each dish is explained about the ingredients and their flavors. Advice on the right Italian wine or beer to pair with each dish. The restaurant is run entirely by Italians, who are very friendly and helpful.

We decided to go for the 5 courses tasting menu. The anti pasti was really good, the dishes were balanced and complex in flavors, bringing something special. Then, the pasta arrived and despite being good, it felt underwhelming compared to the anti pasti. To finish, we had duck beast as a main and it was the most underwhelming dish on the entire menu. So, overall was good food and atmosphere, but the decline with every dish let me feeling like I don't need to come back again, there's little room to be surprised here.

I have been this place several times, and LOVE it. Booked this place half a month in advance (with a €30 deposit per person). I heard it’s one of the best Italian restaurants in Amsterdam, and honestly, it really impressed me. Compared to other fine dining spots, this one feels more grounded and genuine. No showy gimmicks — just great food and warm service. Although it was for a birthday meal, it didn’t have the festive vibe of somewhere like The White Room, but I still appreciated the cozy and authentic Italian feel (so many people saying “ciao”! 😂). We ordered the most expensive 7-course “BE ALL” tasting menu, which included both meat and seafood. No wine pairing this time, but we did try two different wines — both were fruity and quite nice. Highlights of the meal: • Main Course 1: Poached codfish with spinach and carrot purée, topped with green romesco sauce — surprisingly tasty. • Main Course 2: Lamb with beetroot jus, paired with artichoke, king oyster mushrooms, and broccoli. Flavorful and well-balanced. • Dessert was a real surprise — Italian sweets never disappoint! It included elderflower sorbet with chocolate mousse and a grape-based sauce, garnished with almond crumbs and fruit. What stood out the most? Even the vegetarian dishes were amazing. As someone who usually prefers meat, I ended up finishing all the veggie courses too. Turns out I don’t dislike vegetables — I just hadn’t had ones this good before! 🥹

We had two ala carte dinners and one 5 course chef's menu. Atmosphere was lovely and service was great (as always). One member of our group did note the bavette was not as tender as previous times. The bread was delicious, the carpaccio of kingfish was lovely (my personal favourite), we enjoyed the coulant of chocolate and the cheese selection. See you again soon!

The restaurant is beautiful and the service incredible. The only regret we had was asking what all was going to be served that night as two of the diners would have asked for something different for the main course as the don’t like duck; our mistake we would know for the next time.

We enjoyed the buried items that were served to us in our five course meal. Each one was a feast for the eyes and palate. Interesting combinations of food! Although we didn’t understand any of these items to be Italian as far as what we’re used to they were all delicious and interesting. The owner was also our server and checked with this to see how things were and was delightful to converse with at the end of the evening. As a person who doesn’t drink alcohol very often, but always prefers my Diet Coke… I was offered an alternative imported from Italy. It was quite delicious and I wish I could find it easily back home in USA. Thank you for this experience – if we end up in Amsterdam again, we will be back!
