Bello Gio's by the River is an absolute must for anyone who appreciates good food, a warm atmosphere, and a beautiful location. From the moment you walk in, you'll feel welcomed by the friendly and attentive service. The menu is tastefully composed and exudes a passion for Italian cuisine.

Absolutely spot on. Came here with the mrs, she booked (wallets worried). Complimentary starters, breadsticks burrata and procuttito what more can you want. The mozzarella croquettes were sublime, loads of Parmesan and pesto. Bread and oil and good too. Beef pasta was excellent, nduja pizza was top notch. Moretti on point, padlido cocktail was a good note, the woman loved her cocktails, mango to die for and the spritz was on another level. Lady came round with the bill and I nearly bit her hand off, 88 euro for the best fun relaxed dinner in years. Hats off to the chef and everyone involved. Thank you

We were warmly welcomed and really enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and beautiful setting of the restaurant. The service stood out in particular — Leonore, the Portuguese waitress, was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. She even gave us some great tips for places to visit the next day, which we really appreciated. The food itself was a bit disappointing, especially the pasta carbonara, which didn’t quite meet our expectations. However, the overall experience — thanks to the setting and the wonderful service — definitely made up for it. Overall, a pleasant evening with great hospitality.

The dough was so hard it was almost inedible. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture, but you can imagine what the poor bits of pasta and olive oil tasted like after being cooked at that temperature. I tried another pizza from my companion, and it was the same. The burnt dough was only about 4mm thick. I'm very curious about the chef's understanding of heat control.

I went on a solo trip to Amsterdam from the UK for my birthday and came across ‘Bella by the gios’ on TikTok and decided to go there for my birthday. I’m so glad I did, my waitress was Beatrice and she was so nice and helpful and I asked if she would kindly take some pictures for me and she said yes without hesitation which was lovely. The food was perfect and up to very good standard and reasonably priced, very happy and they gave me a birthday celebration aswell which was so sweet!! . Will definitely recommend if it’s for couples or a cute girls dinner. The restaurant was aesthetically pleasing and lots of photo opportunities ❤️

The vibe/atmosphere is amazing in this place, the staff were lovely and can accommodate basically any drink request if there is something specific you are after (within reason) they will make it for you. We were the first people seated but can imagine it gets rather busy. For the food, the focaccia was a touch overcooked and hard, but others looked spot on, it may have just been a leftover as we went right on opening. The pasta was ok, the carbonara was a touch "stinky" for our liking but super creamy and the guanciale was nice and crispy. The ragu sauce was a little over cooked and didn't have a great texture, but was tasty nonetheless, but I believe their speciality is their seafood based pastas/dishes

Beautiful spot on the IJ River. The layout is very atmospheric and unique. Stylish decor with a very hospitable welcome and service. Don't forget the tiramisu.

My expectations for this Italian restaurant were too high, and I wouldn’t say they were fully met. It’s definitely a nice spot to consider though. The interior is beautiful and the Photo Booth is a fun touch — wish more places did this :) I got the grilled sea bass, which was tasty, but overall the whole experience was just decent. Not bad, just not amazing.

It's definitely worth a visit for the beautiful decor. Also, be sure to check out the restroom. The service was good, with friendly, cheerful Italians. The food was average, but that didn't dampen the mood. Enjoy!

I went to Bella Gio's on a blustery Monday evening. We were welcomed perfectly, the restaurant had a real buzz about it, and the vibe was very relaxed. We sat at the bar, which gave us a great view of the room, and the bartender was a very chill Italian guy who made us some excellent cocktails and had great chat to boot. Every member of staff we met smashed it. A very quirky place to grab a drink or several and work your way through the menu. Big recommendation!

Such a vibe! We were wonderfully looked after by the person at the door, sat at the bar and had a blast with the bar man who brilliantly served us many a tasty cocktail (and who had many an interesting thing to say about the excellent playlist). Would highly recommend for a fun occasion - great atmosphere and really tasty food!

The four of us just had dinner. The food was delicious! The lighting and atmosphere were lovely, and our waitress, Julia, was incredibly sweet!

The appetizers and desserts were excellent and clearly prepared with care. Only my main course, the spaghetti lobster, was a huge disappointment. Otherwise, it's a truly special place to eat and definitely worth a visit.

It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The restaurant's ambiance is unique, and the atmosphere is wonderful. Everything harmonizes perfectly. The dishes are well-seasoned and truly transport you to Italy. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and Julia's enthusiasm made the evening complete. So, if you ask us, we absolutely recommend it!

Was very excited to take my husband for his birthday dinner here but the food did not live upto the expectations. The ambience however was great, there was a nice vibe, great crowd and you'll definitely enjoy the location. The truffle pasta (Pasta Special) was very disappointing - very runny cheese, felt like I was eating liquidy noodles, the gnocchi was okayish. The thing that pissed me the most was that the server was very pushy. Our table was booked from 6.30 to 8.30 and we were anyways gonna leave by 8.15, but she did not let us enjoy our drinks or our appetizers when we asked her to wait for main course. She came twice and we had to eat in a rush. When we ordered the dessert, we asked to wait for 15 mins before she got it because we were full and wanted to enjoy some wine before our dessert - it was only 7.35 by then. The whole experience was less than great and I wouldn't take a chance to go here again.

Great experience! 10/10 and the restaurants interior is super pretty and there is a photo booth!!!!

The place and interior looks very nice but the service is very slow, there is only one employee getting the orders. We waited 40 minutes till our food was ordered and then another 45 minutes till we got the food. Which made is wait for a long time. Did not appreciate this. The food was also limited, would not recommend to go a second time unfortunately.

What a fantastic, atmospheric Italian restaurant on the NDSM site, highly recommended. We went for our daughter's birthday. The welcome was incredibly friendly, and coats were taken. We had a table for four near the kitchen, which was relaxed; the kitchen didn't seem to mind us much; occasionally checking in was fun. The service was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The food was excellent. Not cheap, but worth it. Highly recommended. Beautiful location.

Absolutely loved this restaurant. Went by myself and was offered either a table outside with the heaters or inside at the bar until a table became available. Chose the bar for more comfort and stayed there throughout. Had the lamb on spinach, beautiful and crispy on the edge. Tiramisu was nice and served from the big home prepared style platter. Slightly too much liqueur I think but ate it all still 😂 Ever so friendly service! If you're not afraid of a little alone/find/enjoy-yourself time, go there and enjoy the setting in addition to the food. I'll be back!

The service is friendly and professional. The pizza was excellent. One of the best pizza bases in Amsterdam. The ingredients they use are high-quality. In short, definitely worth a return visit.

The owner is a fantastic man who knows exactly how to create atmosphere and ambiance. You can tell he does this with passion and pride in what he's built. An unexpected, fun surprise was the restrooms with bright pink neon lights—a really nice touch that added to the experience. All in all, highly recommended for a fun and tasteful evening out!

Beautifully decorated. Good and friendly service. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the pasta carbonara. The sauce was very overpowering, making it taste more like aged cheese than creamy carbonara. The lobster pasta, on the other hand, was tasty, but the lobster was raw. My friend and I shared our pasta; both plates were taken away, but her plate was returned with only half the pasta, while my plate with my half of the pasta wasn't returned. She did receive new lobster, but with only half a cold portion of pasta. In our opinion, the entire dish should have been replaced. Otherwise, the appetizers were delicious.

This place was absolutely delicious! If you're ever craving pasta (real Italian pasta) with fresh, traditional, and artisanal ingredients, definitely stop by! We were helped by Polly, who is truly fantastic and was incredibly helpful. We'll definitely be back!

Was the food nice? No! The truffles-pasta (their specialty dish) was bland and flavourless. I didn't bother to finish the meal. The meatballs were so-so and a bit dry. Was the order correct? No! The meat was overcooked when asked for "medium". Was the order brought timely? No! We waited 30 minutes for 4 meatballs appetizer and another 45 minutes for the mains to arrive. Was the staff nice? Yes! The staff tried to be helpful given the circumstances. They gave us a 4% discount on the bill. Meh How is the vibe? Its nice. A bit kitsch interior, but they can pull it off. Unfortunately a lot of flies flying around. Will I come back? No! Much better food to be had elsewhere.

It's a good restaurant overall. The main course was delicious, but I don't think there's much choice. There are only four types of pizza; we asked if a tuna pizza was available, but they didn't. The menu includes many pork dishes (not a problem), but if you don't eat pork, it's not recommended.

I was craving Italian food and originally wanted to eat in the city, but the parking there is just terrible. Instead, we went to Bello Geo by the river in Amsterdam and I’m so glad we did! The place looked absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was romantic and elegant, and the whole vibe was spot-on. I felt cute in my black dress and even took some nice pictures. We started with some appetizers, which were really nice and flavorful. I went for pasta and my partner ordered pizza. The pasta was delicious but the portion was on the smaller side, I should have just gotten a pizza too… and of course, I ate some of his. Overall, the food was fresh and tasty, and the setting made the experience extra special. Perfect spot for a date night!

Eight of us dined here for Sail 2025. What a fantastic location, delicious food, excellent attention to allergy requests, and very friendly and helpful staff! We had a wonderful time!

Saturday, August 23rd, during Sail. The three of us had a wonderful meal, or so we thought. It was incredibly busy and crowded. But that's to be expected with such a large event, right? After ordering, we waited over an hour and a half for our food. The reason? There was only one pizza chef, and apparently, he wasn't skilled in other dishes. Strange, but hey, Italian is more than just pizza, isn't it? When it was finally served after countless apologies and countless "it's coming" requests, the dishes weren't hot within 5 minutes. We returned, and a little later, the same plates were brought back. The fun and flavor were gone for us. But we didn't want to wait another hour and a half. We were treated with a free drink and a shot, and a meager, unprofessional discount. But we were a bit fed up with it. Disappointing, because we came for a delicious meal, not for this experience. The staff did their best, but apparently, the owner didn't get it. He didn't even bother to visit our table. It's a shame. Perhaps we could have been more understanding then. Disappointing, but so be it. Not a good performance. We heard from other people who were also dissatisfied. Perhaps they should take a professional approach to this. They have five years to do this. We came here for a quick bite. I ordered sparkling water and my girlfriend a glass of water. To our surprise, we ended up paying €12 for water. This felt out of proportion, especially since most restaurants offer tap water or sparkling water for free or at a reasonable price. The food was otherwise okay, but this unexpected charge made the visit feel unwelcoming. It's a shame, we won't be returning.

The food was great, the four of us were seated right on the walkway to the outside, a bit drafty. The waiter was a bit over the top, friendly but very quick. The music was really too loud, which is a shame. We had a nice meal together, but I prefer their other restaurant, Lolo, on Warmoestraat, which is a bit smaller and more intimate.

The Trip advisor pictures looked lovely, but we were seated outside as it was a sunny evening. The outside area really needs some TLC and the staff looked so scruffy. They were unaware of any specials and lacked menu knowledge. The service was poor so it just killed our experience, the food was decent but not great! Would not recommend it, even with the pretty interior.

I dined here tonight with my husband. I felt it was actually quite poor for the cost. I have had far better Italian food and 6 Euros for a jug of supposedly purified water was a bit of a joke. I am staying in Ansterdam for 3 days and will be going somewhere else tomorrow.

Yesterday I had dinner with my daughter and a friend. My gnocchi was delicious, my friend had a delicious pizza and my daughter had truffle pasta. Great service, we will definitely be back.

Very friendly staff; generally, the staff doesn't speak Dutch, but they do speak English. The restaurant has a unique atmosphere that alone makes it worth a visit. The service is top-notch and the food is excellent. I would definitely eat here more often if I lived closer. All in all, highly recommended.

Make you pay 20€ in advance for a reservation, you arrive at an empty restaurant where the two in front of you without a reservation are served first. We asked for a table by the window, which was not allowed, despite the empty tables and our reservation. Bizarre restaurant, would not recommend it.
