This vegetarian Indian restaurant is a true gem. Each dish was delicious and tasted authentic, and the two staff members who served us were warm, attentive, and super helpful. The decor was beautiful and understated, creating a calm, peaceful atmosphere that made the meal even more enjoyable. Service was timely and unhurried, adding to our super relaxed dining experience. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic vegetarian Indian cuisine.

Delicious food with a special seating neighbor

A really special treat for the last night of our travels around Europe, so pleased we found it. The starters were little works of art and the thali main course meant we could try a bit of everything. Cool atmosphere and joyful staff. It was wonderful. Thank you!

What a wonderful experience here on Utrechtsestraat. Everything was perfect down to the last detail. The dishes were not only incredibly delicious but also beautifully presented. The dessert, in particular, with the purple edible flower on top, was a true work of art on the plate. It is a lovely place to enjoy a leisurely meal in a pleasant atmosphere. We will definitely be back here to try the rest of the menu.

I had a lovely dining experience at Golden Temple. It was everything I was looking for and more. The food was fresh, flavorful, exciting, and prepared to near perfection. I ordered the Tofu Tikka Masala: Indian masala curry with onion, tomato, bell pepper, and tofu served with chapati, mango chutney, and basmati rice. For dessert, I ordered coconut pie, which is now known as the BEST DESSERT I'VE EVER HAD! TOFU TIKKA MASALA - Simply divine. The curry was rich in depth and flavor. The portion was vast. While I was eating, it reminded me of a warm hug. It was comforting and soul-soothing. BASMATI RICE - The rice was fluffy and cooked to perfection. The crispy onions on top were great for added flavor and texture. SIDE SALAD - I'm not sure what the salad dressing was, but it was scrumptious! I'm not a fan of salads, but I would order this again in a heartbeat. The whole dish was super fun to eat too! COCONUT PIE - is in 1st place for the best dessert I've ever had! It was pie perfection! Everything about it was delightful: crunchy crust on the bottom, sweet and smooth coconut custard, selection and amount of fruit for acidity, slivered almonds, sesame seeds, and the agave or simple syrup drizzle on the plate. I was speechless after eating this pie, and I'm still short on words now. I would go back to Amsterdam just for this coconut pie! Amazing food!! The lassi and lemonade were simply perfect, and the naan, curries, sauces, shared appetizers were all delicious. The homemade date cake with coconut ice cream and a great caramel was impressive!

Really pleased to find this beautiful place not far from our hotel on Leidseplein. Rolled up on a Tuesday evening without a reservation and fortunately they could squeeze us in as a table for two. My main point of praise goes to that enchilada. Delicious! Also helped my partner finish their paneer masala and that was pretty good too. Service was great but actually wished it had been slower so we had reason to hang around longer.

The food was very good, and the service was excellent; the waitress explained everything to us. I want to emphasize that the food was so flavorful that you could really taste all the different ingredients, not just the spicy ones. It was my first time at an Indian restaurant, and I had a great experience.

What a quirky little restaurant this is. Very nicely decorated with Indian food, but also pizza and some Mexican things? It was actually really tasty, and therefore also very suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

Amsterdam is plenty of eastern ad Indian Restaurants. I knew them well, since 1995. But i never found a place with this enchanted mood, and this good vibes. the food is delicious, Lekker, like they say in A'dam, spicy but delicate, and so are the gentle girls that works here. The mood is very relaxing, and out of the windows you can see the city that lives. On the walls ancient eastern symbols and deities. I'll surely come back here next time. NEW EXPERIENCE 27/05/2026. New dinner at Golden Temple. Three years later from the First review. The Place Is quite the same as i Remember, with a magical, myastical vibe, increased by the predominant female gentle presence. There's some new entry in the menu, but It remains inspired by classical indian food with some modern detail. My dinner was a basmati rice with mixed vegetables but cooked in a soft way similar to the italian 'risotto' and spiced like only India can do. Really delicious, likes the cocoa cake for dessert. All was well manager by a gentle and beautifil girl. I'll be back soon.

A lovely and cozy atmosphere with colorful walls and plenty of cushions gives the restaurant a pleasant ambiance. Even the resident cat adds to the charm. The service was also very friendly and attentive. The food is Indian-inspired and generally okay, but it didn't particularly impress us. It wasn't bad by any means, but rather average and nothing special. Still, it's worth stopping by for the ambiance and relaxed vibe.

The bill was very reasonable at about €67 and we left very full. The service was fantastic. We really really liked our server a lot and the atmosphere was great. The location was great. So i didn't really enjoy this place. Pretty sure i got food poisoning too. Food is asian in nature but not indian so dont go here expecting tasty indian food, I'd call it indian adjacent, or from somewhere in indian ive never been and doesnt like spices or flavour. Food wasnt awful tasting but you dont get what you think you are getting.

We really enjoyed our meal here. The Indian dishes were delicious and well-prepared, but the highlight was definitely the service. Our waitress was so friendly, funny, and welcoming. It’s rare to find a place that feels this cozy and happy. We’ll definitely be back!

Sadly, it's really not worth it. If you're used to authentic Indian food, I'd skip this place. Our dishes weren't good. The tofu in the curry was tasteless, so they seem to have no understanding of how to prepare tofu so it absorbs the flavors of the curry. Furthermore, the food is quite bland and tastes pretty much the same. The naan wasn't what I'd hoped for either. For a restaurant that focuses on vegetarian and vegan food, I wonder how so many people are so enthusiastic. The atmosphere is pleasant. One waiter was very sweet, the other rather disinterested and left the table after half an order. It also felt like they were under an Airbnb, because we were upstairs and there was the occasional weed smell. I don't know if they can do anything about that, of course, but it seemed to be related to the restaurant. Oh yeah, and it was incredibly overpriced :). Naan for €7.

We had a lovely dinner there but the food was a little watery and not as spicy as we like. It's great to get a vegan spot and the resident cat was a bonus. We had the thali and the tickets massage. Great the get vegan naan too.

Delicious food, super nice, relaxed and friendly service.

The restaurant is located in the city center. Reservation is required. It has two floors. The interior is minimalistic with really nice wall decoration. The staff are not so present (we needed to ask for water two times before it arrived at the table) and we got moved from one table to another due to another larger group that arrived after us. The food was Hood.

The staff is friendly, and helpful. Service was efficient, and the food arrived at the table relatively quickly. Regarding the food, the flavors were enjoyable and varied. The dishes were tasty, though not exceptional. I should note that I am not vegetarian, so my perspective may differ slightly. As a non-vegetarian, this visit was enough for me personally, and while I appreciate the concept, I do not see myself returning. That said, I was dining with vegetarian guests, and they shared a similar impression: good food, but not outstanding. The main downside of our visit was the seating. We were seated upstairs, and unfortunately the seating was not comfortable, which affected our experience more than expected. As one person at our table aptly put it: “We hebben lekker gegeten, maar niet lekker gezeten.” In summary, a pleasant place with kind staff and decent vegetarian food, but the comfort of the seating, especially upstairs, leaves room for improvement.

Golden Temple has been a household name among vegetarians for decades, and for good reason. Most dishes are based on Indian cuisine, but there's also plenty of room for creative inspiration from other cuisines, and the menu is regularly updated. It's a good idea to make a reservation in advance. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and presented with the menu. The red iced tea we ordered tasted a bit stale, but the food was truly delicious. We started with the naan and paneer skewers. Both were new dishes for us and we thoroughly enjoyed them. For our main course, the two of us shared the enchilada and the paneer masala. These dishes were also well-seasoned and beautifully balanced in texture, freshness, and flavor. We finished off our meal with the coconut speculoos pie—a staple here for years—and the new panna cotta. The food here isn't cheap, but it is very tasty.

Great food, everything just takes WAY TOO LONG, which is shame We got 2 Indian mixed dishes and it took around an hour to get it, and the restaurant wasn’t even full!!!!!!

We rolled up in Golden Temple w/o a reservation, which we didn’t think would be a problem given that there were only two other parties—a two-top & a four-top, there—but were immediately told we could only have a table for 90m. This is a pet peeve of mine 1. Because 2/3 of how long a cover takes consists of how fast the kitchen is—for the record, they’re reasonably fast—& how attentive the service is, 2. It’s a horrible first impression for someone in the hospitality industry to give & 3.(& there is no way they could have know this) I was a waiter for 10 years & hate sitting, so I’m the LAST person who is gonna overstay his welcome. As it happens, we finished before EITHER of the parties that were there when we arrived & practically had to jump-tackle a server to get our check. That said, the food was delicious. Masamam Curry is my go-to at a Thai restaurant, so I’ve had my fair share of it, & this was good. I’d also never had it with tofu & didn’t think it would be as flavorful as the imitation duck I usually get, but it really was delicious. & the use of tiny potatoes—as opposed to cut up larger potatoes—was inspired because it ensures they are all cooked perfectly & evenly. Be warned that, while tasty, the cheesy naan is more like a quattro formaggi pizza; ain’t nuttin’ wrong with that…just not what I’d expected. The decor is also 👨🏻‍🍳🤌🏼.

After over 30 years, I ate here again and it was fantastic. We'll be back soon. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, fast, and flexible. Good value for money. I highly recommend Yogi Chai; it's perfect for two people. It's a small space with a lot of people, but that makes it quite cozy.

That soup was really great, full of flavor, you could taste that they had put time into it, not as watery as in other places, I also had some naan with it, super soft and warm, really perfect with it, service was a bit slow but she smiled sweetly so it was ok, we went home completely satisfied

Absolutely excellent! We had the momos and Taste of India, both of which were delicious. The service was very attentive and friendly.

The food was incredibly delicious; we had the chef's four-course vegan menu. Everything was served at a pleasant pace. As far as I can tell, it felt like authentic Indian food. There were some lovely, unique drink options. We sat on cushions on a raised platform by the window. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the restaurant itself had a wonderful ambiance. A cuddly cat purred next to us. It was a great experience, highly recommended!

A wonderfully atmospheric vegetarian/vegan restaurant. The dishes were delicious. The two of us walked in spontaneously. It filled up quickly, though, so I think we were lucky. There was a lovely, atmospheric spot by the window, a real conversation pit. We didn't sit there, but I thought it would be nice to sit there next time. The service was very attentive and friendly.

Indian cuisine, friendly and lovely staff all vegetarian /vegan dishes that are originally from northern India. there is seating on the first floor and on the second floor of the restaurant. The ambience and the music/decor was really on point. The food came really quickly, and there was lots of flavor in the meals that were provided. I wouldn’t say it 100% compares to the Indian cuisine that you’ll get in the UK however the chili mushroom and the paneer masala/ Tofu masala for dishes that stood out in our eyes. we give this experience a 4 out of 5

Food: the garlic naan was so-so, but not what I’m used to, dips were good, main (flavours of india thali) was extremely salty (uneatable imho without rice), one of the dishes had a taste that I did not trust to eat, mango lassi was good but warm

Awesome dinner, great vegetarian food even for the South American carnivore we brought. Gluten Free options came in handy. Just a pity they don’t make the Banana Cream Cake anymore. Highly recommended. You are gonna pay a bit more than the average ‘hippy place’ however great food and vibes.

I don't know where these 4.6 stars come from. Defenitly not from their food. We ordered Momos, Paneer tikka, Mango Lassi, Garlic Nan, Mashroom Nan, Flavours of India Thali, and their Saffron Paneer. Given the rating we had good expectations. However, it turned into vain. The momos were not good, worse than what you get as Frozen Gyozas in any normal supermarket. The paneer tikka was colored to red and felt stale. In the lassi they add lemon and sour grapes - who in the right mindset adds that? The Thali was the only okayish dish - and came with one small chappathi. The chappathi was fine. The Golder Paneer dish was a disaster despite good looks: stale paneer, bad gravy, low quality (sticky) rice. On service, the waitress took for ever to come despite we being the only customer at that time. We could hear arguing presumably between the chef and waitress from where we were sitting (near to the front part). The price range for the location is towards the higher side. I am never coming here again.

The staff at this restaurant get along well. It's very pleasant for customers to have smiling staff and a good atmosphere emanating from the team. All this, of course, is accompanied by excellent quality food. Congratulations to the entire team... Patrick

Exceptional Food, as always, one of our favorite spots in Amsterdam.

I took my friend out to dinner here. The food was amazing, very flavorful and big enough portions, we couldn't finish it all. We had the tali (and some pakora and naan as an appetizer) and were stuffed! There was only one girl working the tables, and Noone was waiting long. I was very impressed. The prices were very good as well! Would recommend! ❤️

The Food was rather bland. The Tofu Masala tasted heavily like tomatoe sauce. The curry seemed rather unseasoned, too. And the raita felt watery. Thr spinach and the grilled aubergine were very nice though.

I ordered the tofu tikka masala after seeing the glowing google reviews here and the garlic naan bread. The presentation was beautiful and the food arrived super quickly, but the tofu tikka masala seemed to be missing any spices… it just tasted like stewed vegetables in tomato sauce to me which was disappointing. The garlic naan with the different chutneys were all super tasty though and closer to what I’d expect at an Indian restaurant. TL;DR I’d only recommend the naan and avoid the tikka masala.

Fast service, excellent food, friendly staff. Went there to celebrate and we weren’t disappointed. The mixed entree’s were exceptional, we chose the „Taste of India“ as main dish and it was really good as well. Desserts were amazing as well! 10/10

It says they close at 11, they will not let you sit if you arrive after 9:30.

Waiting for it seemed like 10 mins at the door waiting to be seated. The waiters kept coming close to us, looking directly at us, and then moving away. Who treats people like that? If you’re busy at least acknowledge the presence of new guests. What the hell?! PS: maybe instead of coming at potential customers, you can actually focus on customer service ;)

They have Indian thali with 4 kinds of vegetable items to eat single Chapati 😂😂...I didn't get the logic..

We were in a bit of a hurry, the 4-course dinner wasn't that convenient, but what nice people! We got dessert to take away, enjoyed it later. And most importantly: the food was fantastically delicious, really worth coming back for!

What an incredibly nice restaurant! We sat in the alcove by the window with a group of friends. It was so super relaxed and the food was fantastic! Friendly staff and recently recommended the restaurant to family and colleagues.

It was once again a feast of taste and color! The staff is SO incredibly sweet and because this is not the case everywhere; a big compliment! For me as a guest it is the combination of food and service that makes a restaurant stand out. Hadn't been there for a while but I regret that now🙈. And the icing on the cake; there was a beautiful performance by a Brazilian singer with guitar. We enjoyed it!! Forgot to take a photo because we were busy enjoying ourselves😋
