Good restaurant. Excellent price/quality ratio

Friendly staff and excellent food. A bit claustrophobic though.

Five of us had dinner and drinks at Grand Café Royal. The food was delicious (although the meat was a bit tough) and the cappuccino was delicious. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. Their website claims to be royal and hospitable, so don't rely on that too much. The menu clearly states that fries and raw vegetables are served with each main course. In reality, however, the five of us had to share one small container of fries (with one small cup of mayo) and one small container of raw vegetables. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she said we could ask for more later if it wasn't enough. We did, but the side dishes were charged separately on the bill (€4.50 each). We brought this up with the owner/manager, but his reaction was very unfriendly. His response was, literally, "You can't expect me to serve a container of fries and raw vegetables with each main course? Do you even know how much that costs these days?" He also immediately wanted to know which waitress had told us we could ask for extra fries and mixed vegetables and proceeded to confront her. We found that really rude. That's not how you should treat customers or your staff. For main courses ranging from €22 to €33, you should expect a standard portion of fries and mixed vegetables.

The lunch dishes are delicious and generous. Highly recommended!!!

Nice location on the Brink. We had coffee on the terrace. They don't have oat/almond milk, which I find quite special in 2025. We also wanted something tasty with the coffee, but there is nothing more than apple pie on the menu. For a cup of coffee you have nicer places in Deventer. The service was friendly and the service good.

We were here during the IJssel Run Deventer. Accordingly, the restaurant was well filled. We got one of the last two tables and were served very quickly. The service was very friendly. As is usual in the Netherlands, there is a different menu at lunchtime than in the evening. But we quickly found what we were looking for. There was a tomato soup, a tosti with ham and cheese and a roll which was very generously topped with fried beef, onions and mushrooms. Every dish was incredibly delicious. Including drinks, our bill was less than €40 (for 3 people). The price-performance ratio is right here. This restaurant is definitely recommended.

One of the better places in Deventer to have something to eat or drink. Good fast service, friendly and all very tasty. Definitely recommended.

Simply good, no nonsense, attention to the customer, fast, decent service, affordable prices and the food is generous and tasty. No wonder it is usually quite busy here. We continue to enjoy going there.

Made us wait more than 45 minutes for our food. Have asked several times where it was. We are told that it hasn't even been made yet. We then see people who sit for less time receive their food sooner (with the same order). We paid for the drinks and left. Not good service

The food was super good and delicious

During lunch it turned out that the menu did not suit our dietary requirements, so we opted for coffee and apple pie (4 pieces). Unfortunately, 2 of the 4 items were frozen, so we asked if they could be put in the oven. The 4 points were taken and after 5 minutes the owner came to report that the points had been thrown away and the cake was finished. A shame about this service with a nasty aftertaste!

Don't hesitate: you should take the Royal appetizer from the lunch menu. Has nothing to do with a regular garnish. Gamba and tenderloin skewers (surf and turf), bread, various cheeses and fried snacks. Enough for two people. Only the aioli is not an aioli. For the rest excellent. And you have a nice seat on the Brink.

Nice location on the market square of Deventer. It is noticeable that dinner dishes cannot be ordered during the day. Perhaps it is more convenient to offer a separate lunch menu. Staff are friendly and service fast. The food is also of reasonable quality.

Cozy cafe with a nice terrace. But for a short while, I grabbed a coffee and a cold drink.

Looked like a reasonable place but while the young girls may have given us decent service the surly, rude waiters that come when you sit down certainly didn't. Prices were ridiculous considering how low quality the food was. I know it's Holland but I also know that Dutch food is ok, this place truly was a new low...they can't even make an uitsmijter! The eggs were so overcooked it was a travesty; I've never had one nearly so bad so ever. Truly one of the worst places to eat in the Netherlands, and that's saying a lot.

Hamburger sandwich: meat was very sour!! Not good! Immediately went on defense and got nothing new. Could just pay. Extremely bad. Meat was just spoiled.

Eten is smaakloos. Personeel kijkt je niet aan en halen je bord al weg als je je laatste hap nog niet doorgeslikt hebt. Personeel lijkt geen plezier te hebben in het werken. 1x en nooit weer hier.

Mooi zicht op de Brink. Prettige bediening. Gegeten een Biefstuk en een Dame Blanche. Was prima.

Kom hier al jaren! Fijne mensen, goed eten, top service! Prijs kwaliteit is heel goed. Terras aan de Brink is super! Altijd fijn bij Royal!

Lekker eten leuke gezellige sfeer..

Dit is een mooi hotel en schitterende locatie midden in het centrum van Deventer. Het eten is goed en niet duur. Ook de bediening is van goede kwaliteit.

Fijn terras atente en vriendelijke bediening de gerechten prima tja niets te klagen aldaar 👍😊

Voor een redelijk bedrag goed eten met een goede keuze uit diverse gerechten. Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel.

Deze zaak is zeer gastvrij en vriendelijk heeft een prima drinken en menukaart aanbeveler.

Redelijk prijs/kwaliteit verhouding. Wel een erg beperkte kaart. Dessert kaart zelfs maar 2 keuzes. Valt wél tegen voor een restaurant wat tevens een hotel is

Heerlijk geluncht hier. Goed eten, aardige en ook snelle bediening. Gezellig en lekker ruim van binnen zodat je ook buiten coronatijd ruim zit. De volgende keer in Deventer gaan we hier zeker weer lunchen!

Een goede plek om lekker en goedkoop een avondmaaltijd te nuttigen. Aardige gastheer, kump ook oet Twente!

Staff rather slow not overly friendly, sandwich and sauce not really to my liking, nice place to sit though. Overall nothing special.

Vriendelijk personeel, snelle service, uitgebreide kaart met lekkere dingen, maar de carpaccio salade was wat flauw en droog (en de broodjes hadden voor mij zonder maanzaad mogen zijn)
