Great restaurant for a quick bite in the city.

Waited 45 minutes for a carpaccio sandwich, and the staff indicated it would take a while longer, so paid for the drinks and moved on, unfortunately....

The day before yesterday, during my visit to the book market in Deventer, I went to eat here. This was prompted by the tasty fries I had eaten there once before. Fortunately, I found an empty table with two empty beer bottles and glasses still on it. I had ordered food and drinks. After that, I had to wait quite a while for my food, while I received my drinks earlier. I had also mentioned earlier that I had ordered food as well. Finally, I received the food, which tasted good; however, the portion of fries was a bit small. Afterwards, I had to go to the toilet, which is located upstairs in the establishment, but which was not clearly signposted, so you quickly ended up walking up too many stairs. As a result, it took a while before I was back at my table. To my surprise, the table had been cleared, and the beer bottles and glasses had been taken away too. I ordered some more drinks from one of the waiters, to whom I told that I had already eaten and drunk something earlier. He took the order, nodded, and walked away. And then nothing happened for quite a while. I started getting annoyed and also became impatient, and for a moment I thought about walking away completely without paying anything. That’s not how I normally am, so I beckoned another waiter to whom I ordered again, who brought my drinks quite quickly afterwards. I said I wanted to pay, and he thought I had only placed my last order and wanted to charge me for that. I told him that I had been to the toilet and had eaten and drunk something beforehand. He looked at me in surprise and asked what I had ordered then. I indicated that, and then he charged me the full amount. Finally!!!! I also told him that I was being honest by mentioning that I had eaten and drunk there before. Even though I had also told the previous waiter that he had seen in the computer what I had had earlier. If I hadn't said this, I would have eaten there for nothing and partially drunk for nothing. What chaotic, amateurish, and uninterested service. I also noticed that several customers had to remind the wait staff that they had ordered something. I also saw a man and woman sitting there for at least fifteen minutes without being served, and then they left, with the man shrugging his shoulders. I also heard the wait staff make a disclaiming remark about it. In any case, I will never come back here again; I might as well have gone to eat and drink at McDonald's across the street.

New owners… Went there anyway despite all the bad reviews (it was a well-known establishment, after all). They are trying very hard to improve, and hats off to them! I had a pleasant time and they were open to feedback. Keep up the good work, new owners 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

We were there about two weeks ago. The outdoor seating area was empty except for two tables. The server ignored us and didn't seem motivated. When she finally came to our table, we had ordered two cappuccinos and two lattes. Eventually, one cappuccino and two lattes arrived from a second server. We thought she might bring the cappuccinos, but no. After half an hour, no one had come back, and they just stood around instead of asking if everything was alright or if we needed anything else. Well, only when we waved her over did she come out from the aisles. We wanted to pay, so she left and sent her colleague over. We can do basic math, she had a price she wanted. Apparently, there were old menus on the table. She also seemed to have forgotten that we had only been charged for three drinks. Well, there was a long back-and-forth discussion. The way guests are treated there is absolutely unacceptable! I cannot recommend it. Check your bill before you pay! I was on the verge of calling the police! I work in the restaurant industry myself, and this kind of treatment is completely unacceptable!

Good food, great service and a beautiful restaurant. With a vist if you are near by.

Terrible service and staff. We have been coming to De Keijzer for years. Always good food and nice service, but unfortunately, it is not what it used to be. We had reserved a high tea for Mother's Day today... called and all... having come all the way from Groningen, we arrived. We weren't shown to a table, so we just sat down somewhere. 10 minutes later, a member of staff finally appeared. I told her we had reserved a high tea... she said: "Oh, I don't know anything about that... I'll just check." She walked away, came back, and said she unfortunately had to disappoint us... no high tea... offered us no alternative, no drink on the house... absolutely nothing. What good is an apology? All the other spots were full. There you are. I said I didn't think this was acceptable and stood up to leave. She looked arrogantly in our direction, rolled her eyes, and said with an air of superiority... "Well, have a nice day." We were regulars... but we will NEVER come here again.

Small salad, the contents of which aren't clearly stated on the menu. Coffee machines. Dirty restroom. Not recommended.

Dead end. They only speak foreign languages. The food is boring. The staff is just sloppy. Dirty toilet!

This restaurant is run by a large family. So if you want to dine in the middle of a daycare center, this is the place to be.

Terrible service. Waited fifteen minutes to order, then we were asked to wait a little longer so they could take the order at a table that had arrived much later 😂.

Nice terrace. Great service. It was a bit noisy because of the fair, but that made it even more pleasant.

Food was tasty but it took incredibly long

At De Keizer you can sit outside, the food is good, and there is nothing to complain about the service either.

There were no gluten-free lunch options. We couldn't find any other options either. Unfortunately, they were barely offered any alternatives.

I live elsewhere, but I've been coming to Deventer regularly for years, either for a day trip or for a special activity, festival, or whatever. It's a very pleasant, active, and beautiful city. I usually have my lunch at Restaurant De Keizer. Conveniently located in the city center near the Brink. There's a lovely terrace. Inside (upstairs) the decor is pleasant, neat, and atmospheric. There's also a small, inviting space there, which can be reserved if desired. Well-prepared and tasty menus. Excellent quality. Fresh, fresh. A pleasantly surprising addition is a small glass of whipped cream/coffee liqueur with your cup of coffee! Friendly service. Excellent value for money. A truly pleasant place worth returning to. Just try it! My favorite... the farmer's fried eggs! But also the double beef burger and carpaccio. Ed Jansen

Really tasty burger. Quickly prepared. Tasty different types of fries. Good portions. Nice place with a view of the Brink. Too bad they often close so early.

When I was here, it was a nice, quiet spot within a hectic, touristy shopping center. The food was delicious, simple Dutch.

We spontaneously dropped in at De Keizer because the teenagers wanted loaded fries. They really enjoyed them. The hamburger and schnitzel were also a hit. Friendly service. Didn't have to wait long. Excellent!

The food in this restaurant is without a doubt delicious, and I have been coming here for a long time because of the excellent quality of the dishes. The chef does a fantastic job and ensures that every meal is a delight. Compliments for that! The operation, on the other hand, is a major drawback and unfortunately detracts from the experience. The staff is slow and seems to pay little attention to the guests. You have to take the initiative yourself to place an order, for example, because the waitresses rarely come to you on their own. Empty glasses are often left untouched on the table, and if you want to order something extra, you have to explicitly ask for it. A frustrating example is the timing of drinks. When you order a drink during dinner, it often only comes to the table when you are almost ready to leave. It is downright disappointing to notice that there is so little efficiency and customer focus in the service. This restaurant has a lot of potential thanks to its fantastic cuisine, but the poor service makes it difficult to fully enjoy the experience. Hopefully something will be done about this, because I would like to keep coming back for the food, but I also expect the service to radiate the same quality. Three stars because of the delicious food, but the service really needs to improve.

The place is good but the old lady is treating costumer bad way

You will find the Keizer in the middle of the city. On this beautiful day there was plenty of room on the terrace, where we could even choose from a table in the sun or in the shade. The service was friendly, but not too fast. The orders arrived quickly. The food tasted fine. Too bad there was no brown bread to choose from at the bouncer.

Asked the staff on the spot what was in the Emperor Tower. According to the staff, many different small dishes. Finally, on the bottom plate, a bowl of dry bread. 10 mini snacks and tapenade, olives and some crème fresh. In short, I paid 18 euros for dry bread and 10 mini snacks. I won't come back again.

Coffee was good, lunch was served quickly everything good.

I had the satay ajam which was very tasty. Service could use some attention, I don't think it had been there very long. We had to keep asking if we could order something, maybe someone else would set it up there. Furthermore, excellent restaurant.

Op de kaart staat kroketten met oerbrood maar je krijgt er gewoon witbrood bij. Als je er wat van zegt krijg je. 2 sneetjes bruinbrood. Oerdom

Lekkere Cappuccino en vriendelijke bediening!

Cappuccino met een extraatje, altijd goed.

Erg onvriendelijke bediening. Eten was matig, maar prima. Personeel was onderling ruzie aan het maken wie de tafels moest afruimen, werd niet gevraagd om de bestelling op te nemen, dat hebben we zelf maar gedaan. Het eten was oke, maar niet fantastisch. Geen volgende keer meer hier voor mij.

Mooie plek in Deventer en de koffie+apeltaart was heerlijk

Prima en vriendelijke bediening. Het was erg rustig dus om bij te kletsen ideaal. Ruime keuze in aanbod. Ik ben hier eerder geweest en ook toen was het prima. In hartje Deventer en op loopafstand (7 minuten) van station. Buiten en binnen op 1e en 2e etage mogelijk.

Gezellig en prima stek om even met mensen af te spreken.

Ik had een tosti besteld en de serveerster vroeg of alles naar wens was?Ik gaf aan dat mijn tosti koud was. Ik kreeg een sorry want het het was druk zei ze. Dat was niet mijn indruk .Uiteindelijk gingen we betalen bij een andere serveerster.Die vroeg of alles naar wens was geweest?Wederom gaf ik aan dat de tosti koud was. Zij kon alleen maar uitspreken Sorry. Dat was mijn laatste bezoek.

Vroeger was hier beter meer menu keuze soms aanbieding van menu en kaart makkelijker en hadden ze nog schnitzel. nu niet veel soeps meer. hier kom ik niet meer terug. service ook niet echt vriendelijk en bij menu brengen kregen we geen bestek moest je maar roepen.

Mooie locatie in het centrum van Deventer mooi terras en lekker gegeten

Op het randje van voldoende. We aten een uitsmijter. ‘De Keizer’ en een uitsmijter avocado. Bij de laatste wordt toast beloofd maar krijgt je bruin brood met zonnepitten en slechts 4 plakjes avocado. Er wordt vooraf niet gevraagd of je bruin of witbrood wil. Dames van de bediening zijn vriendelijk en werken keihard. Tip; loop een paar meter verder naar De Brink.

Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is hier gewoon goed. 8 euro voor broodje hamburger is tegenwoordig lastig te vinden. Het is niet heel bijzonder maar zeker lekker!

Ik kom hier regelmatig, leuk ingericht, heerlijk eten, vriendelijke bediening en betaalbaar.

Je moet een trap op naar de ingang. Vriendelijk personeel. Eten is goed, ook keuze voor vegetariërs. Toiletten schoon. Er zijn 2 ruimtes om te zitten. Bij het raam uitzicht op winkelstraat/ markt.

Prachtige plek, vriendelijke bediening, eten was lekker. Frieten niet echt gaar. Hoewel het niet eens heel druk was, hebben we een uur moeten wachten op een broodje met warm beleg. En groepen mensen kregen hun eten niet tegelijk. Organisatie in de keuken kan veel beter.

Leuk niet te groot restaurant, genoeg vriendelijk personeel. Lekkere gerechten. Zelfs met Dickens festijn voldoende plaats

Lekker wezen lunchen met een vriendin. Eerst een latte en daarna een overheerlijk broodje beenham. Moest eigenlijk kiezen tussen satesaus of honing mosterd saus maar allebei mocht ook. Áanrader........
