Friendly people when we picked up our food. Unfortunately, the meals at home were disappointing. The dahl wasn't so much bad, but rather bland and not particularly tasty. The tikka masala, on the other hand, was a real disappointment (too spicy and lacking in flavor), so all in all, the almost 40 euros we paid was far too much. Such a shame!

Visited this family-run restaurant by chance, and the hospitality blew me away! From the warm welcome to the cozy ambiance, it feels like home. The complimentary papads with three chutneys were a great start, and the mixed veg pakoras were perfectly cooked. We had paneer tikka masala with garlic naan and were even offered green chili and onions upon request—so thoughtful! The food was excellent, but what really stands out is the warmth and care. Special thanks to Amrinder for making our visit memorable. Will definitely be back!

I really enjoyed Guru. The food was delicious and well-seasoned, just as Indian food should be. The portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable. The stairs leading to the toilets are steep, but boy is the food worth it! Strongly recommend if you're looking for a high quality, broad variety of Indian dishes. The menu enables you to taste a little bit of everything - expensive, but interesting for the experience.

Guru restaurant is basic food quality with even basic quantity and prices on the higher end. Presentation was also ok and nothing spectacular. Taste wise nothing stood out for me. The samosas they served were the tinniest I ever had. Only positive I can speak of the decor. That was good. Even a Mona Lisa dressed in Indian attire.

In Amsterdam for work and fancied a curry. Tried this place. Easy access from the tram I’m so pleased I did try it. Lovely curry. Popadoms were delightful. Great Naan. I went for the bhuna. Which was perfectly spiced. A decent sized portion and just a lovely curry! Try it. They even charged my phone cos I was low on battery.

I grew up with this cuisine and even bring my family here. So you understand that we know what this cuisine should taste like, and it's absolutely perfect. This isn't your typical Maggie Holland-esque takeaway, like most Indian restaurants do; this is authentic cuisine. I've been here several times and still go. If that's not enough proof that it's good, you're better off going to the snack bar.

From the moment you walk in, you're warmly welcomed. We made a reservation because it was quite busy. Every single waiter and waitress who served us was extremely attentive and pleasant. At the beginning, everything was fine: the staff was very friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, the coffee was delicious, and the appetizers before the main course were absolutely delicious. We ordered two main dishes and then asked for a different third dish, but they brought us the same dish we had already ordered. When we pointed this mistake out, they did not offer to bring the correct dish or fix the situation in any way. We told three waiters about this mistake, and none of them offered to correct their mistake. We also ordered khir to go. But it was impossible to eat because it was just pure sugar, so much sugar that it simply couldn't be eaten. In the end, we left €90 and were completely disappointed with this restaurant.

I literally love GURU !!! Ive been here at least 10 times and I will come plenty more times!! We have both helped each other out on many occasions.* *too expand on what i mean. I usually order 2 curry's becouse I have a big appetite and also because they always make me amazing food!! They have helped me when I have been in difficult situations. * This is from an English man who loves curry's and food in general, and ive had hundreds of thousands of curry's and this place really hits the spots!!! This place was in my "want to go" list for a long time. It's not exactly in the center, it's a 20 minutes walk from the Amstel station. But well worth it! I had Pani Puri as a light starter, 4 nicely presented pieces. Followed by Chicken Tikka Balti on recommendation of an Indian colleague. And I enjoyed it, I might come back here. I was seated on the terrace - what do you want when temperatures rise above 28°... It's not India yet but it adds to the experience!

For me, 4.8 is overrated. It is good but not incredible. Ordered chicken biryani and it is very different to any chicken biryani’s I ever tried (even in India), not bad but not the real deal. Service extremely slow (3stars go for service, otherwise food would be 4), it took them 1 hour and 10 minutes to bring food to table from the moment we arrived, we were starving and it was not even that busy. I would go back if I was around neighborhood but definitely I won’t transport myself there to eat

We are customers of this restaurant. We came every Friday until my stepson decided to start a keto diet. After a year my partner asked if he could make a special dish for his son. The food is very delicious. I ordered regular tikka masala and Peter chicken, which was the most delicious. I also had regular green salad, regular chicken tikka, and delicious naan bread.

Good food, nice location and restaurant. Unfortunately only the naan bread was old stuff. After 10 minutes it was hard and crispy... which should actually stay nice and soft. So we actually got 6 old pieces of naan bread. In the end I paid almost 200 euros for food with 3 people. Then you want everything to be fresh.

The butter Cheken was so sweet, more than usual. The white rice is not that good (so solid). Biryani cheken is delicious.

One of the best indian restraunts in amsterdam. Food quality is amazing and also everything is delicious . I tried out paneer, biryani , dal makhni, mango lassi, everything is great. Whenever i am craving for indian food i know Guru is where i need to go. The staff is super friendly. The prices are a bit on the higher side but for the food quality its worth.

Absolutely fantastic! From the cute décor, to the welcoming friend serving, topped off by the flavoursome well cooked food. There was an extend wait for food but worth it and the big portion sizes Absolutely no complaints. We did reserve a table, which is always good as they get very busy.

Outstanding restaurant. A jewel off the main streets of Amsterdam center. Amazing food, the garlic cheese naan was one of the best things I have eaten in a long time. As part of Kesari tour package, we were supposed to have our Lunch at this place on 12th April 2025 at 2 PM. Due to some delays at Tulip Garden, we were not able to reach on time. We reached the restaurant around 3.10 PM. However, we were shocked to know that restaurant owner refused to provide food in his restaurant. Instead, he provided packed lunch boxes. All 30 people - including senior citizens & kids were really Hungry. We were forced to eat this on the banks of some canal as if we were beggars. This was a terrible experience.
