Saw Lumbini had amazing ratings so I thought I would come here while I am in Amsterdam on holiday. AMAZING food. The best curry I have ever had. Staff were so warm and the service was very quick. I would highly recommend this place.

As an Indian national, I was craving some Indian food far away from home. Lumbini was a great place to start, I loved their Thali, which was delicious and wholesome. And, what I also appreciated about the menu is while they have adapted to the local landscape and taste, they also added Indian varieties thus attracting crowds from everywhere . Kudos to the team!

I think this place is overrated. We had a disappointing experience. While the service was great, the food did not seem authentic, it’s rather very much Dutch-fied Indian food that matches their taste pallet. The great rating is also probably given by local people. The food had unusual spices, unusual veggies and sweet.

Great service, haven't seen such good service and atmosphere at an indo nepali restaurant or indian restaurant in NL in a while. Music was lovely, staff is elegant and courteous, they also catered to some adhoc requests. Food portions were good.

We will be coming back to this place! The food was AMAZING, the service so kind and attentive, and the music and ambiance calm and romantic. We had dal, Mo Mo buns and garlic chicken tandoori and every bite was bliss. Highly recommend Lumbini for incredible Indian & Napalese food.

Everything was amazing at this restaurant. The staff were so lovely and attentive and couldn’t help enough. The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely and even has seating outside in the sunshine by the river. We were recommended a few dishes and they were outstanding in quality and portion sizes. Very tsaty Indian meal, slightly different tastes to UK version. Lamb melted in my mouth, peshwari naan is very sweet, cutomisable meals, add or remove ingredients and heat to taste, fella next to me ordered a hot korma. Basmati rice with all meals. 22 to 27 euros price range. Take the opportunity to try the Nepalese food too. Sorry no photos, we were too hungry!

This is the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to (my apologies to all the other restaurants around the world I’ve visited)! The hospitality was amazing, and the food was absolutely delicious. The naan was phenomenal, and the butter chicken and chicken tikka masala were outstanding as well. We spent three days in Amsterdam and ended up eating here twice! I will definitely come back and recommend it to all of my friends.

We came here for a late dinner and the vegetarian food was amazing!! We got the dal soup, raita, palak paneer, paneer butter masala, garlic naan and veg chow mein. Highly recommend especially if you have nut allergies they are very accommodating as they made special dishes for us! Will definitely try to visit again!

We spontaneously found this hidden gem during our stay. They serve authentic Nepalese cuisine. The spice level was high (as per my liking, upon request). Highly recommended!!!

Really disappointed by the quality of the food. I do not understand when certain dishes are made to be sickly sweet. In this case it was the butter chicken, did not taste any spice. Even the chicken itself didn’t taste of anything. We also had the MoMos (mixed), they tasted ok, but they were split open and felt rushed. It was a busy night and the service was good but I can’t recommend the food after that visit.

It was our last day in Amsterdam and we wanted to have some Indian food. So, for dinner we landed in this restaurant which serves both Indian and Nepalese food. We tried Biriyani, Plain Rice, Lentil Fry (Dal Tadka) and some chicken item. They were tasty and we liked all of them. They also served Papad (crispy Indian flatbread) with the food. By the way, being geographically connected Indian and Nepalese dishes have a lot of similarities. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service truly lived up to the place’s reputation. The staff were warm and welcoming. Being from West Bengal, I even had a conversation in Bengali with one of them who, not surprisingly, spoke it very well. Do give it a visit and you won’t be disappointed. I also find the name of the restaurant interesting. For those who do not know, Lumbini is the birth place of Gautama Buddha.

The food was delicious, and the staff were hospitable and attentive to their guests. We arrived early, so there was plenty of space and a quiet atmosphere for a pleasant chat while eating. We ordered a three-course meal. The dishes were delicious. The homemade ice cream was also delicious.

We went there to try Nepali food, though the flavors were closer to Indian cuisine. The food was good but a little overpriced. Communication with the staff wasn’t very clear — our order was misunderstood, and we ended up with three portions of the same dish, paying much more than expected. If you’re a tourist, just be a bit careful when ordering, and you should still enjoy the experience.

Visited tonight with my two sons and my mum. Absolutely incredible! We had chicken chow mein, Lamb Tikka Massala, Butter Chicken (which came with rice) and naan. One of my sons loves butter chicken and I’d seen a previous review of someone saying how amazing it was which was why we booked here. They were not wrong! I usually don’t like chicken in a curry but this was the best I’ve ever had! Our food, including a large beer, wine and 2 cokes came to just over €90 which I thought was reasonable for the quality and quantity. Not quite sure why others have mentioned the table cloths? The food can be messy! Every table in there had made a mess so it’s easier for the establishment and we then didn’t feel so guilty at having created more work (and cost) for the dry cleaners. Would highly recommend and wish we could visit again! (Definitely will when we come to Amsterdam again)

The flavors are real, just be sure when we order one mild and one super spicy, you don't mix it up otherwise the final experience can be different. 😊 I would replace the cheap looking paper tablecloth for something nicer and more authentic. Very good Indian restaurant. The selection and portions are large; we couldn't finish it all. The service is very friendly; after our meal, they recommended a Nepalese rum. It was really great; it was my first time trying it. The only criticism was the mango lassi: it was too thick and had too much sugar, so we unfortunately had to leave it. I highly recommend this restaurant!
