If you're looking for good Indian food in Amsterdam, this is the place to go. Aside from the amazing food, the rice was free (even a second helping was available), and it wasn't a problem at all to request individual ingredients. I highly recommend this place! We'll be back.

We went for dinner today at the Lumbini restaurant worst experience in a long time we have had. Firstly, we ordered two vegetarian thali we only received one. When we enquired where was the second one they looked surprised. Eventually second thali arrives. I wish I hadn’t bothered. All the food was bland tasteless definitely not Indian or Nepalese food. No spices, salt or chillies not the Indian food I get at home or from my mother in law. The bill was €58 not worth it at all. Being Indian having read most of the reviews for the restaurant from previous customers they definitely do not know the difference between excellent and poor quality Indian and Nepalese food. Save your money and go elsewhere for good Indian food than end up being disappointed.

The food is excellent, there is a lot of choice. It is possible to choose your spice level between 1 and 5 and it is very appreciable. The naans are huge and delicious. The lassi, banana or mango, are very well made, we tasted both. Very good service and little wait.

Amazing food! I’ve eaten A LOT of Indian food around the world, including multiple trips to Delhi and Bangalore. This food is legitimately some of the best I’ve ever had. My Celiac daughter had no problems. They can make any dish gluten free ( aside from obvious items like nan and momos). I give Lumbini my highest recommendation

This place was great. The garlic Naan and lamb tikka masala was phenomenal. The mixed momos were awesome too.

Simply fantastic!!!!! The food was very well-balanced in terms of seasoning, our best experience in Amsterdam. Not that the other restaurants we went to weren't very good, but this Indian restaurant is a whole different ball game, a cut above the rest for sure! If you have any questions, ask the waiters, who are kind and attentive. I had shrimp curry, with rice, yogurt seasoned with garlic and chutney. My wife had shrimp with fried noodles. Everything was wonderful, enough!! Generous portions, you need to check if it's convenient to share the dish.

We had a great late-night Indian meal here! The butter chicken was amazing, the lamb dish full of flavor, and the garlic naan and papadum were perfect. The mango lassi was jammy and refreshing. Lovely host, really welcoming. Big compliments—definitely coming back!

Best Indian restaurant in the Netherlands! The basics such, as the butter chicken and tikka masala, are really incredible and the room is quiet but vibrant. Would recommend 100% ! They also have big portions so no worries to not have enough !!

This seems to be a popular restaurant. When I arrived, it was almost full, and when I left, it was still packed. The staff were enthusiastic about introducing the menu items, the serving speed was reasonable, and the food tasted good.

A small shop where the different scents immediately come to mind upon entering. An extensive menu, also for vegetarians. Very much enjoyed the curry, naan and mango lassie (!), and finally, very friendly service.

Perfect indian food spot, tried 5 different ones this trip, I loved Lumbini the most.

It was my first time experiencing Indian/Nepalese cuisine and it was truly a great experience! Butter chicken was an incredible taste with its creamy sauce and spices, I would eat it every day. The spices in the dal bhaatta were very balanced, neither too heavy nor light. The meat and lentils were tender, and the rice accompanying it was fresh and delicious. I also loved the mango and mint dips. The roti was soft and fresh, a perfect complement to the meal. The restaurant staff were also very helpful and gave suggestions.

Service was very good, very friendly. Momo's were great, but Indian dishes (especially Butter Chicken) were waaaay to sweet. Probably this was a Nepalese way but it was just not what we have expected (I lived couple of years in India). Next time we will skip this one.

A good place, beautiful and very good location in front of the canal. A very large card to be able to choose the best option of all. The staff of 10, they can improve the speed but it is worth it. Recommendations: -Sula white wine (Origin India) - Moma Mix - Cheese Nan (one of the best I've ever tried) We will return without a doubt.

I enjoyed the 3-course menu. The food is very good, there are quite a few choices. The staff is helpful. Everything you need to have a good meal. A few steps from the center of Amsterdam and right next to Rembrandt Square. I would definitely recommend it if you like Indian/Nepalese food.

Staff was very polite and helpful. Restaurant was very clean and Food fresh. Garlic Nan was very yummy. Our Meals were good but we have had better. It isn't criticism because everyone has a different way to cook and taste. I still would recommend this place to people. The Service was top. 👍🏼

A friend and I are visiting Amsterdam and chose this restaurant because we both love this type of food. The food was very tasty and filled us up very quickly, but unfortunately we couldn't finish it all, sorry! (I had the Chicken Tikka Tandoori and she had Chicken Saag, in case you were wondering what was eaten ;) ) But we are definitely not averse to coming back to the restaurant for another visit. :)

First things first because this took my breath away. I have tried many a Mango Lassi but this one was by far the absolute best I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. I would come back to Amsterdam for this alone. The food was so good as well and also the Ambiente. Staff was really nice and attentive 🥰 many compliments and thank you for this excellent dinner.

We had an amazing meal at Lumbini! We are only in Amsterdam for a few days and stumbled upon this little place on our second night. We ended up making a reservation, which seems like a must as all tables were full when we arrived and there were a few other people waiting for a table. We quickly realized why it was so popular. Everything we ordered was delicious. We started with the veggie samosas (eaten too quickly to get a picture of) and then had the combination momo plate and the lamb tandoori. Highly recommend!

Surreal. I simply ordered takeout, walked in, and had a beer while I waited... These are some of the friendliest people Ive met in a long time. All smiles, really good vibes. The server tried to undercharge me after giving me a complimentary side dish. Then he threw in a bottle of beer into the bag as I was walking out. I wish I could attribute that to some feature of my personality, but I think they are just genuinely lovely people. The food - Simply amazing. Probably the best I've had in my short trip through various European cities. I am only here for 3 days but I'm seriously considering going back, at the cost of further exploring Amsterdam's diverse food options. Wow.

We took lamb tikka tandoori, lamb tikka masala, chicken vindalo, lamb biryani, and garlic naan. All dishes were well prepared, spicy, and so delicious. Garlic naan was perfect. Also, I recommend you to try the mango lassi 👌

Lumbini is a nice restaurant with an Indian/Nepalese menu. The decoration of the restaurant could be better in my opinion. Paper tablecloths and paper napkins look a bit cheap for a nice and atmospheric restaurant. The service is good and attentive. Only something probably went wrong with the spiciness. My girlfriend had asked for extra extra spicy, and I for medium. When served it was the other way around, the dishes tasted good, but for my girlfriend too mild, she had to add extra spiciness. We will definitely come back, because I think that if the dishes are right with spiciness next time, I can still give 5 stars.

A short walk from where we were staying we noticed this restaurant across the road, that looked very busy. We didn't have a reservation but luckily some people were leaving. We both ordered from the Nepalese menu the Dall Bhatt, chicken and lamb. They both came with basmati rice, lentils, raita, chutney and vegetables, we shared a buyer naan. I highly recommend this nice little restaurant in Amsterdam. Service is very good, staff are accommodating, friendly and polite. The food is excellent, freshly cooked and nice and hot. The naan bread was delicious, wise to share between two people. The food is delicious, highly recommended, probably best to book a table. We were very lucky we got a table. We paid roughly €90 including a large bottle of red wine that we took away with us.

Really really impressed with this food. The butter chicken was A1, I went by a recommendation from Google and was not disappointed. The pilau rice is all you can eat also which is different from UK restaurants. The waiter was. Really nice guy and made us feel welcome. One of the best Indian/Nepalese restaurants I have been to. Momo was very flavourful and the dough was very thin. My chicken biryani was the best I had: zesty, fresh, full of aroma and spices, perfect for summer. Lamb served sizzling was cooked like a very good steak with tender meat. I got my leftovers home and the next day they were still very tasty and naan didn't go stale. Add on top of that nice setting by the canal, friendly staff and probably the cleanest toilet I have been to in Amsterdam: it is 5 star from me.

Came across Lumbini when we were looking for a restaurant in the Rambrantplein area. Always been a big lover of Indian food, and it had been a long time since I had one this good Place was busy and full, but we were lucky enough to get a table after a small wait. I would recommend booking and we for next time we visit Ok, to the food.... So do good. Starters Tasty crisp onion bhaji - one of the best I have had. Also, Vegi Samoa- so good Main - one of the best lamb Madras I have had, and I have had a lot. The lamb was soft and was cooked perfectly. Loads of heat on the Madras, but with losing any of the flavours Butter chicken - Again, soft pieces of chicken in a rich butter sauce. Full of flaover We will be back again soon

Sensational place! The food was authentic and the mango lassi was nothing like the plain overly sweet ones we’d had, it had so many layers of flavor and texture. We asked the staff for recommendation and the dishes +garlic naan did not disappoint! Will definitely come back and thinking of tomorrow’s lunch (leftover we packed) I’m already smiling.

As a place advertised for Nepali and Indian cuisine the food was very bland. MOMO was not fresh at all, Thali set was tasteless and we don’t know what it means choila for them but it was not what one would expect in a Nepali restaurant. Although it maybe irrelevant but the guy hosting us was unnecessarily friendly. Isn’t worth the money at all. Nepalese people don’t go there.

Superb restaurant located near the center and near the canals of Amsterdam. Very pleasant, kind staff who guide us when we need advice on our choices. They are also very considerate (spicy, not spicy, etc.). We were served in a reasonable time. Exceptional cuisine, very good and full of taste. We had samosas then two dishes (chicken masala and butter chicken) with garlic naan. Everything was perfect, both in appearance and flavor. The atmosphere was cozy, friendly and friendly.

Best “Daal-Bhaat Khasi ko masu” we’ve had in Europe!! I really encourage you to try it out if you want to explore something other than butter chicken :P The service was excellent and the restaurant is nice and cozy!
