We came here for a late dinner and the vegetarian food was amazing!! We got the dal soup, raita, palak paneer, paneer butter masala, garlic naan and veg chow mein. Highly recommend especially if you have nut allergies they are very accommodating as they made special dishes for us! Will definitely try to visit again!

We spontaneously found this hidden gem during our stay. They serve authentic Nepalese cuisine. The spice level was high (as per my liking, upon request). Highly recommended!!!

Really disappointed by the quality of the food. I do not understand when certain dishes are made to be sickly sweet. In this case it was the butter chicken, did not taste any spice. Even the chicken itself didn’t taste of anything. We also had the MoMos (mixed), they tasted ok, but they were split open and felt rushed. It was a busy night and the service was good but I can’t recommend the food after that visit.

It was our last day in Amsterdam and we wanted to have some Indian food. So, for dinner we landed in this restaurant which serves both Indian and Nepalese food. We tried Biriyani, Plain Rice, Lentil Fry (Dal Tadka) and some chicken item. They were tasty and we liked all of them. They also served Papad (crispy Indian flatbread) with the food. By the way, being geographically connected Indian and Nepalese dishes have a lot of similarities. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the service truly lived up to the place’s reputation. The staff were warm and welcoming. Being from West Bengal, I even had a conversation in Bengali with one of them who, not surprisingly, spoke it very well. Do give it a visit and you won’t be disappointed. I also find the name of the restaurant interesting. For those who do not know, Lumbini is the birth place of Gautama Buddha.

The food was delicious, and the staff were hospitable and attentive to their guests. We arrived early, so there was plenty of space and a quiet atmosphere for a pleasant chat while eating. We ordered a three-course meal. The dishes were delicious. The homemade ice cream was also delicious.

We went there to try Nepali food, though the flavors were closer to Indian cuisine. The food was good but a little overpriced. Communication with the staff wasn’t very clear — our order was misunderstood, and we ended up with three portions of the same dish, paying much more than expected. If you’re a tourist, just be a bit careful when ordering, and you should still enjoy the experience.

Visited tonight with my two sons and my mum. Absolutely incredible! We had chicken chow mein, Lamb Tikka Massala, Butter Chicken (which came with rice) and naan. One of my sons loves butter chicken and I’d seen a previous review of someone saying how amazing it was which was why we booked here. They were not wrong! I usually don’t like chicken in a curry but this was the best I’ve ever had! Our food, including a large beer, wine and 2 cokes came to just over €90 which I thought was reasonable for the quality and quantity. Not quite sure why others have mentioned the table cloths? The food can be messy! Every table in there had made a mess so it’s easier for the establishment and we then didn’t feel so guilty at having created more work (and cost) for the dry cleaners. Would highly recommend and wish we could visit again! (Definitely will when we come to Amsterdam again)

Amazing experience in the authentic Indian restaurant. The flavors are real, just be sure when we order one mild and one super spicy, you don't mix it up otherwise the final experience can be different. 😊 I would replace the cheap looking paper tablecloth for something nicer and more authentic. Very good Indian restaurant. The selection and portions are large; we couldn't finish it all. The service is very friendly; after our meal, they recommended a Nepalese rum. It was really great; it was my first time trying it. The only criticism was the mango lassi: it was too thick and had too much sugar, so we unfortunately had to leave it. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Very friendly staff, and good quality of food. I felt a bit pricy, but we enjoyed a lot. Btw, potion is huge. We all couldn't finish own.(No worry, they pack it for you) For people who really love spicy food (like me), it's not spicy enough but very delicious.

My review may sound a bit harsh but this is still a place to try for sure. Their appetizers were excellent, we got the chili momos and the tandoori paneer. For dinner we ordered the palak/saag paneer which was on par but the paneer butter masala was beyond subpar (do not order this!). A single naan can feed a family of 4 ( way too big for any normal person to finish). They also served enough rice to feed 8 people easily (way too much). I only say this cause I hate wasting food. Unfortunately, they served everything all at once and didn’t give us time to enjoy our food. Not to mention, our waitress looked super annoyed with us. Overall, it’s decent but there are so many other better Indian restaurants.

Highly recommended! We were looking for an Indian restaurant in Amsterdam and, based on the good reviews, walked a little further to have dinner here. We were greeted politely by the very attentive and friendly staff. A lovely little restaurant in a beautiful part of Amsterdam. The food doesn't take long to arrive and is incredibly delicious and plentiful. The prices are a bit higher than usual, but absolutely justified. There are many Indian and Nepalese dishes. The naan bread is very large, so you have to keep an eye on it when ordering so you don't get overwhelmed :)

A halal Indian and Nepalese restaurant in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The restaurant is a bit small, so it's best to book in advance. We ordered chicken biryani and samosas, and the food was delicious. The menu offers a variety of Indian and Nepalese dishes. The atmosphere is beautiful, the staff are friendly, and the service is prompt. I highly recommend trying the restaurant.

We came to praise some Arabs. Honestly, I don't recommend it. It's not delicious. The taste is very average, and the price is very expensive for nothing. Our orders were: Butter chicken, average, very average. Chicken 65. I didn't like the chicken at all. Plain biryani was delicious and spicy, and had a good flavor. Shrimp masala, God bless the blessing. The shrimp were frozen. The sauce tasted of onions only, no other flavor. Butter chicken tasted like butter in an abnormal way. My advice to anyone who wants to go

Delish food, Biryani was moist and soft unlike many other places. Salty lassi and Raita were great! We also loved the vegetarian dish we ordered with cauliflower & broccoli. The dark green sauce is super spicy and tasty 🌶️🤩

Very tasty food, smooth and friendly service and cozy restaurant. Not too expensive, we each ate separately (not with menus).

Staff were so friendly and attentive. Very allergen aware and many gluten free options. The food was all so good and tasty. My partner and I felt awful for not being able to finish everything we ordered. It's a pity we were staying in a hotel with no fridge because the staff offered to box up the leftovers. We were given some popadoms that were delicious with cumin seeds - staff confirmed gluten free and made with chickpea flour. My partner had veggie samosas while I had the Paneer chili (so tasty and flavorful) - my partner asked for some of my chili veggies and was blown away by the spice and flavour! For mains my partner had the chicken tikka masala with rice and a naan, while I had the Dal Bhaat Tarkari Kukhura ko Masu ra Palungo (chicken and spinach Nepalese main dish). We were too full to contemplate a dessert. Forgot to take photos or was all so good!

We went in here for our lunch after landing in Amsterdam. Honestly this is the only thing i liked in Amsterdam so far. Ambiance is good . Food quality and quality top notch. john was great at his service.

The staff were all so kind, considerate and supportive. We ended up being one person more than we had reserved, so we didn't have enough seat for everyone. The owner promised us to help us sit all together. Soon after, they moved us so that we can all sit and dine together comfortably. The food was top-notch, Indian cultural presentation was excellent, the complementary biscuits (?) were nice and the staff's kindness was infinite. I had such a good experience here I'd love to go back and dine. I definitely, highly highly recommend.

Great Chicken Tikka and friendly staff

The location was good but the service was not. I had a reservation for later in the evening, and sat down immediately upon arrival, but no one came to the table for almost 15 minutes. I watched two servers bus and clean empty tables and make eye contact with each other about who was going to come to my table. The server that sat me finally came back and simply asked if I were ready to order: no recognition for the fact that I had been sitting there the entire time. When I inquired about the long wait when both had time to clean other tables, she provided a feeble excuse that there were only two of them when I saw at least one additional male server at other guests’ tables. The menu was not transparent for food allergens. When asked, the server said she didn’t know and had to get the other server. He was dismissive and when the food came he had to check to remember if he included the allergy note. Unfortunately, the dish I ordered that the server said was free of my allergens caused me to have an allergic reaction and have to immediately take medication when I started having throat itching. The server was defensive when questioned about what may have been in it or cross contaminated to inform my address of the visible allergic reaction. As many options for Indian and Nepalese food are available in the area, I would definitely go to another establishment with the hopes of having good food coupled with good service and better transparency of food allergens.

Great location and ambience, superior food. I'm a big fan of Indian and Nepalese food, and this restaurant fulfilled all my expectations and beyond. John was really kind attending us, with great suggestions, also vegan options for me, hospitality and sense of humour. They served us the food quite fast, and it was delicious. We had a great experience eating next to the canal, we will definitely come back soon.

It has good indian cuisine, but the food took a while to come out considering that there was only one other table there besides us. It is unfortunately located near a marijuana store next to the restaurant; when you open the door you get a smell of marijuana. I recommend to get a bunch of stuff if you are a family and try all of them.

We had an incredible evening at Lumbini in Amsterdam. We were a group of 6, but only two of our friends had a reservation. The rest of us joined last-minute after unexpectedly meeting up, and the staff were so kind and accommodating. they rearranged everything so we could all sit together. They were super friendly, patient and welcoming. The food was honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. The smell when we walked in already had us excited, and the taste did not disappoint. All the naan was soft, fresh, and delicious. I had the palak paneer as I’m vegetarian and it was one of the best dishes I’ve ever tried. They also have a good wine selection that paired really well with the food. I’ve been to a few Nepalese restaurants before, and this one is definitely the best so far. If I’m ever back in Amsterdam, I’ll absolutely be coming back here. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city

The best indian food I've had in Amsterdam. First of all the service was great! Very kind, helpful and quick when it came to helping out when I dropped my drink (sorry for that again). The MOMO dumplings we had for starters were rich in flavour and I'd advice taking the mix to get a taste of it all. The butterchicken was extremely tender and I really liked the mildness the cocos brought. The absolute star of the show was the Lamb tikka masala though. Absolutely sensational tender flavorful bites that changed my favourite dish of the Indinepal cuisine. I'd advice Lumbini to anyone!

As a lover of Indian food this was an immediate hit. Great location on the Amstel. Delicious food which is often too much for us and could be packed well to take away. Very friendly service.
