Gustatio oud west in Overtoomse Sluis

Me and my partner travel to Italy 2 to 3 times a year as we have family there and I have to say this was some of the best pasta I have had outside of Italy. We ordered a dish each to start and as everything was so delicious we added a third. Of course we had to end our meal with tiramisu which was also fab! Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable. Can’t wait for my next trip to return!

I'm Spanish, and I absolutely love eating pasta. I think outside of Italy, this is the best pasta I've ever had. The waiters were incredibly friendly, and the service was excellent. I think I'll go back to Amsterdam just to eat at Gustatio again.

Staff is amazing! Super friendly service and helpful with recommendations. Food is great! For starters we had the bruschetta crema di melanzane which was good. The special Pappardelle with pumpkin, mushrooms Parmesan fondue with truffel was delicious with so much layers of flavor. The classic tagliatelle al ragu was als very tasty and so much depth in flavor. Both those dishes were great with the Nero d’Avola red wine!! For dolci we both had a great affogato which was creamy, not too sweet with a nice nutty bitterness from the espresso. We had a great night out!

I started my wonderful evening here with a Negroni at the bar. The small appetizers went well with the perfectly balanced cocktails that weren't overly sweet. A place that invites you to stay and has a comfortable atmosphere.

Hadn't booked so told could go on a wait list. Other customer told me it was worth the wait & it was. The wait turned out to be only 10mins which was great for a busy Friday night

I was blown away by how authentic the food is at Gustatio. The bruschetta with lardo e pomodorini was a perfect balance of flavours — simple but outstanding, exactly like the ones you’d find in Italy. The place has such a nice, intimate vibe, and the owner brings professionalism and genuine hospitality to every table. A must-visit if you want to experience the real taste of Italy.

If you want to taste real Italy, Gustatio is the place to go. I had the tagliatelle al ragù, and it was absolutely exceptional — rich, authentic, and clearly made with real Italian passion. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and welcoming, and the owner is both warm and highly professional, making you feel right at home. Highly recommended if you’re looking for truly authentic Italian food.

I don't understand the rave reviews either. The service wasn't very friendly, there was a strange sewer smell in the restaurant, and the pasta itself was quick and tasted okay, but not fantastic. €5.50 for a Coke is outrageous. The bruschetta, however, was very good.

Food was okay but quite expensive. 1 appetizer, two mains and 2 desserts and 2 drinks were over ,100 euros. Portions are also quite small. Would not go again. There were also 3 huge flies flying around and kept landing on us and the food. Very disgusting unfortunately.

I had the Margherita pizza here, and it was excellent. The toppings tasted fresh, and the crust was flawlessly crisp. The evening was truly delightful because of the welcoming and casual service.

What a find! Had the special pasta and it was incredible. Authentic, delicious and full of flavour! Love red wine! And to finish it off we had the Tortino. Best Italian restaurant in Amsterdam. Great, friendly service with a sense of humour. Lovely atmosphere too!

Entering this restaurant was like visiting an Italian friend’s home on a Sunday’s family gathering. The layout of the restaurant: small connecting rooms, adjacent small tables, simple tableware… all so genuine and authentic, screaming Italy! Then comes the food: OMG! It just transported me! I had the “bucatini all'amatriciana”, the taste of the first bite goes on till you lick the plate. And the service; smiling waiters, very attentive and friendly. In short: Love this place, love the vibe, love the service, and looooove the food!!!

Gustatio is a truly lovely little spot right in Amsterdam. The vibe is really cool, and despite being busy, the interior layout felt surprisingly spacious and comfortable. It was buzzing with energy, even on a Wednesday evening, and the restaurant smelled absolutely amazing as soon as we walked in—a great first impression! The highlight of the entire meal was easily the Pappardelle al Manzo. If you visit, you have to try this dish. The pappardelle pasta itself was perfectly prepared, with a wonderful bite that confirmed how fresh and well-cooked it was. The beef ragu was incredible—the meat was so tender and full of flavour, holding the rich red wine sauce beautifully. The portion size was huge, making it an excellent, satisfying main course. For dessert, we tried the Tiramisu. It was certainly nice—it wasn't soggy and didn't have that overly powerful coffee taste that can sometimes overwhelm the dish. However, it wasn't the best I've had (I'd rate it about 3/5). I felt the cream or mascarpone could have had a richer, more distinct flavour to elevate it. Overall, Gustatio offers a great experience, especially if you're looking for an excellent pasta dish and a fun, lively atmosphere. I highly recommend it, and I'd definitely return for the Pappardelle!

After a lovely walk in Vondel Park, what a discovery! You immediately feel transported to Italy. The truffle pasta is delicious, the tortino to die for and the lemon ice cream a real treat 🍋. Warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and generous cuisine. Thank you very much for this delicious moment. 🇮🇹

Gustatio has become our very favorite Italian restaurant in the city!!!! The staff is incredible and so generous. The food is INSANE!!!! You can truly taste the difference in how handmade everything is. We also have a 2,4, and 6 year old and it’s the only restaurant where they finish their bowl every single time 😍😅 also you have to try the lava cake 10/10

I researched some restaurants in Amsterdam before I arrived and came across a few really nice reviews about this place. I’m a sucker for a good Italian food so even though I was going to Amsterdam, I wanted to give it a shot And I’m so glad I did! First off corresponding with the restaurant prior to my arrival was fantastic. I must’ve emailed back-and-forth 40 times changing the number of people and the date because we were never really knowing our plans since we were returning a conference and they were so accommodating. We are at our table was ready and it was right by the window and it was absolutely perfect. It’s a quaint Little place in a residential neighborhood outside of the center which at first I was a little bit hesitant because it was about a 25 minute walk From our hotel, but it was super worth it. The pasta was as fresh as it gets and cooked perfectly. And the bruschetta with the spicy salami was absolutely out of this world. The wines were delicious as well and the music they played inside was the perfect volume, but also wonderful throwback to the 90s, which was amazing. Every other restaurant downtown in the center is Decent but they all have what seems like the same menu. I highly recommend this place if you were traveling to the Amsterdam area!!!

It used to be very good but not sure what happened. The prices increased, the portions are smaller and the service really detoriated. I will not return.

It's fresh pasta and chewy kalguksu noodles, but it's not cooked well... I thought it was al dente, but it would be much tastier if it was soft. ㅠ Actually, the pasta on top is a snack, but the pasta on the bottom is cooked in the heat and edible....

They came in to take the order and were so rude and in a rush. We ordered food and the women started going, we asked can we order drinking and she said Yes go on, as she didn’t wanted to serve us, she just wanted to go. I also asked to put additional ham on the pasta and was told no, as they don’t amend dishes. Will never ever visit with such a customer service! Do not recommend!

We ate here with a group at the Overtoom, and it was truly excellent! We shared several dishes, a mix of delicious appetizers and all kinds of pasta. The flavors were delicious and freshly made. The portions were just right for sharing. The space in the basement of the restaurant was ideal for a large group. The service was friendly and professional. We had a terrible experience at Gustatio. To start with, we were seated alone in the basement, which has a smell to it and no music at all was playing. It was almost alright being alone for a second but then a 13 person party was seated in the basement next to us and they proceeded to be loud. We couldn’t even hear each other or taste the food because it was so uncomfortable. We left the meal early and asked for our food to go and then had the pleasure of paying €90 for this experience. Needless to say, we will not be back, which is a bummer because we live around the corner and really wanted to like it. If you go here, I highly recommend to request to not be seated in the basement as it’s truly got no ambience and the acoustics are terrible if there’s a noisy party down there with you.

Food is good however we all hated the floor downstairs, and we were not given the option to choose even tho we made an advanced reservation.

We came as a walk-in for 2 on a Friday evening. Ordered a mixed salad to start, then gnocchi and Cacio e Pepe. The salad came completely plain with no seasoning at all. For the mains, it took over 40 minutes and we had to ask twice if the food was being prepared. When it finally arrived, only one dish came first and the other followed 10 minutes later. On top of that, the pasta was undercooked (not al dente, but much harder), and we had to wait even longer for it to be fixed. Above all that, they did not even apologize on all of these and seem to not care at all for the long time we waited or the bad food experience. Overall, a disappointing experience given the long wait times and food quality. Hopefully just a one-off, but we left unsatisfied.

Great Italian restaurant, with a nice terrace outside. Staff was very friendly and accomodating, and we could bring out little dog as well. The food was delicious. Definitely recommend! It’s not a very big restaurant, so better to make a reservation. It was fully booked when we had dinner there.

There were three of us for dinner, and we were all absolutely thrilled with the food. We come from an Italian household and are skeptical of Italian restaurants, but we were all very impressed here. The pasta is homemade, which you could see and taste. The various sauces—ragù alla bolognese, carbonara, ragù with lamb and mushrooms, and one with cream, green beans, bacon, and mushrooms—were very delicately prepared and seasoned, not overly seasoned. You could taste the fresh ingredients and the careful preparation. For dessert, we tried the pistachio puree and the chocolate tart with a liquid center. Both were incredibly good, although the chocolate tart was the highlight. Not only did the food make us happy, the service was also very friendly, accommodating, and above all, attentive. Top ratings in all respects.

The place is ok overall. The Aperol was a bit disappointing, lacked Aperol flavor. The Tagliere was pretty with good variety. We couldn't taste the garlic at all in the Bigoli Aglio Olio alla Romana. The agneau was really good with delicious chunks of meat. Pappardelle was ok al dente (with a bite) but the spaghettoni was almost raw. My friend said he likes this way but for 24 euros one plate of pasta, I could have sent it back. The pistachio mouse was fine. Nice pieces of pistachios inside. I would prefer more flavor in it and crunchier on top 😅 I had no wait because I had a reservation but the place was impressively full on a Tuesday. The menu is not updated on the website. There are a few new flavours and most of the plates are 24 euros (July 25). Hopefully I'll be back soon for a second chance 😁

I didn't really enjoy what we ordered, but this is just a matter of taste. We had the pasta with homemade sausage, that unfortunately i didn't like. The texture of the meat was thick and chewy and the dish slightly too salty for my taste. My partner order the seafood pasta with lobster bisque and that was extremely disappointing, we both found the dish too sweet instead of seafood flavor. The worst for me was the limoncello spritz that has absolutely no spritz at all, had no bubbles or frizz and freshness. On the other hand, the service was extremely friendly and the portions are big. It is a shame it didn't meet my expectations as I was really looking forward to it.

We had the best home-made pasta in town and everything tasted super fresh. We were a group of 9 but everything went super smooth and the waiters were very attentive! 100% would recommend!

Federico owns this quaint little corner of Rome in Amsterdam, and manages it with love and passion. We had gnocchi all’amatriciana so good they’re hard to find even in Rome. If you’re in Amsterdam and crave a taste of Italy, you can’t miss this spot.
