We loved the sofas and they told us where to get them. We went just because they looked cute, and it's a must-do on my return to Amsterdam.

This place seems to have changed since all reviews and imagery were posted before. Food was very bad and expensive for what you got. Luckily the staff are very kind and friendly and managed our bill. I heard the same feedback after when talking to a friend that visited recently after some years. Hope the food quality can be improved so this place can go back to its reputation. The ratings here are not related to the current place, only the name.

Normalmente no revisaría restaurantes y cafeterías, pero este lugar lo merece! Me subí a tomar un café rápido y terminé quedándome un poco más. Servicio muy acogedor por Gabry y un ambiente encantador. Te recomiendo su capuchino y si eres un diente dulce, ¡debes probar su tarta de queso! Volveré la próxima vez que esté en la ciudad.

Hartje Ost has reopened with new owners. It looks to be a very nice place. The service is good and friendly. The parsnip soup and the Cappuccino was delicious. I'll will try it more. It's well worth a visit.

Coffee is nice. Some of the staff are haughty and condescending, which takes away from the atmosphere as does the dust on top of some of the items for sale

Waited 45minutes for our order and they hadn’t started it. We saw other tables receive their order and leave. It was really disappointing service.

Excellent coffee house! During the day it is a nice looking coffee house and at night it has been transformed into a calm and cool appearance where you will feel completely at home! Highly recommended

This charming and cozy cafe is located in the vibrant Amsterdam Oost. I absolutely adored the interior, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The brunch was simply delicious, and they serve great coffee too! If you find yourself in the area, I highly recommend swinging by this lovely cafe.

In this neighborhood, I thought it was the cutest Cafe. Great to sit with a friend or read a book for breakfast. The service was also so kind and nice.

A bit pricy, but I guess considering most people spent an hour there working while sipping on a coffee it is basically considered cheap rent. Still a nice quiet place to hang out/work and to have a bite to eat. They sell women's clothing in the back... quite random

I have been to Hartje Oost for both business and social meetings. The staff are always friendly and create a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Good quality ingredients & lovely environment. I find other negative reviews hard to believe, they must be your classic 'difficult' customers, who think they are more important than the staff that serve them!

Looks nice but the staff absolutely don't give a ... Owner is very friendly but the younger waitress are not so at all, keep you waiting very long and just act like they don't care. I'll have my lunch somewhere else. There's plenty of other options.

Yesterday I took a koffie (cappuccino) and sit at the bank outside, koffie was Ok (a bit expensive for what it was) but 2min later I was ‘friendly’ kicked out because I was ‘eating sth didn’t matched with what they sell’ (I was eating a delicious falafel from a tent at the other side that do not sell koffie..) -I understand it’s not polite to eat sth they don’t sell, but I didn’t use a table or was collapsing the place (was totally empty).. my first impression: a bit pretentious place/waitress, probably just following orders? Or maybe just too hipster for me xD

Soms tref je het gewoon. Een simpel gezellig lunch restaurantje met voortreffelijk broodje carpaccio. Zo lekker dat je er nog een besteld. Leuke lieve bedoening en. Gezellige inloop van bezoekers.
