My wife and I have been there twice now. It's a cute restaurant, the cheese fondue is delicious, they have a great selection of drinks, and the staff is friendly. Unfortunately, I can't comment on the other dishes, as I've never ordered anything other than fondue there, but I would recommend it to anyone for that alone. And honestly, anyone who complains about the cat has no heart.

Their Crepe Suzette is the Best Dessert We’ve Ever Had. We came back twice just for the dessert. The Crepe Suzette comes with the ice cream, whipped cream, nut crumbles, apple and orange slices, and the best sauce, AND they light the alcohol on the dessert on fire so you get a little show. We also got the Karbeel Fondue with bread and potato wedges (they are basically fries for the Americans, chips for the Brits) and it was incredible. Seriously 10/10 experience and food. The staff was were really sweet and kind. We had Jasmine both nights (because we came back for the dessert) and she was really nice and hospitable. There is also a lovely cat who is very cute and respectable. I am personally very allergic to cats but I had no issues or tissues. I would come to the Netherlands just for this restaurant. I am from Texas!

Very disappointed. We arrived right when they opened for breakfast. The prices are far too high for the poor quality of the food we ordered (ham and egg croissant and banana and chocolate pancakes). For those of you in France, don't be fooled—these aren't real pancakes, just simple crêpes. So, €11.90 for a single crêpe is expensive…

We had two perfect fondues, the beer one highly recommended! The cold cuts were good and the bread fresh. The ribs were also delicious. The service was very fast and impeccable. The place has a classic Dutch style, and I really appreciated the reproduction of the Night Watch on the wall! A must-see in Amsterdam!

One of the best meals of my Eurotrip. The place has a pleasant atmosphere, the staff is incredibly friendly, and I loved the food. I had some ribs, which were really delicious and a generous portion, and the French fries were also very, very tasty. I paired this with a beer, and it was definitely one of the best.

It was a different experience. I ordered Swiss cheese, salmon, vegetables, and potatoes. The cheese, salmon, and vegetables were delicious, but the potatoes were just okay. To be honest, the service was average. The waitress wasn't very helpful; I asked her to explain the dish since it was a new one, but she only answered briefly and didn't give me any explanation of the other dishes.

We had a delicious meal. It was also very nice that we could linger at the table afterwards.

I came to eat two days in a row during my stay in the city and everything was delicious: the omelet was amazing and the pancakes were top-notch. The service was impeccable, the staff very welcoming

Cozy and nice atmosphere. Very central location. A few minutes on foot from the Amsterdam Central Train Station. The gentleman serving, very polite. Coffee good! Pancakes is a pizza-sized single pancake with ingredients of your choice and it's served with a basket of topings (syrup, honey and powdered sugar) to add to your liking.

Our group (Markant) thoroughly enjoyed the delicious food and good service. It was a shame about the table next to us, which ruined the whole atmosphere with their noisy behavior.

Lovely staff and the best meal I had in amsterdam <3 highly recommend. Loveliest dutch staff who took the effort to show me photos of the dipping vegetables even when I dont understand the dutch. He was so sweet, he also let us change celery to more apples when I said I don’t eat celery.

We ate at Het Karbeel twice during our holiday. The cheese fondue is incredibly delicious, and our waiter Pedro was very friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Amsterdam.

We really enjoyed this restaurant, despite the slightly high prices. The fondues were delicious, and the charcuterie was excellent. The service was delightful, with a truly charming and welcoming team. And an unexpected bonus: a little ginger cat on the premises, which made the place even more inviting.

A lovely little place with a first-class breakfast menu and excellent coffee! The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, and the food arrived very quickly and was absolutely delicious! In the mornings, it's a fantastic alternative to all the crowded and expensive pancake houses nearby!

This was such a lovely place to eat. Staff were so friendly and accommodating and when the bill came it was the least expensive place we'd eaten all week. We went back for breakfast on our last day.

The food, the fondue is always delicious; I eat there regularly. Unlimited bread with the fondue. For a relatively small extra charge, you can add vegetables, fruit, and/or potato wedges. The service is okay, though Dutch is 'unfortunately' not always the standard. I did see a job posting for Dutch-speaking waitstaff posted there, though. The hosts, however, have been working there for years. It is pleasantly busy and cozy. Reasonable price for good food.

I visited for lunch. I ordered ginger tea, karbeel fondue with extra wedge potatoes and dipping vegetables, and paid 45.1 euros. It was my first time trying fondue, and it was really delicious; the food paired well with it! The cute cat was a bonus!

I always go to Het Karbeel when I'm in Amsterdam. This was my third visit. The classic cheese fondue is a must have. Quaint, friendly and always good. Our server was fantastic; fun and very friendly. Highly recommend!

A warm atmosphere in a beautiful old building. Conveniently located in the city center (near the train station). The food is good and the staff is very welcoming.

For fondue lovers, I highly recommend it. Everyone can choose their preferred fondue, which is great. The cheese is high quality. Note: The charcuterie platter is a bit small for 14 euros, but otherwise, no complaints.

We booked this for our wedding anniversary and we're pleased with the effort all the staff put in to make it so special. A big thanks to you all. The food was delicious, we had the Kabel fondue with extra potato wedges, our table was set ready for us, and a dessert of pancakes to remember. We enjoyed it so much we booked to go back again during our stay. Highly recommend this restaurant, you won't be disappointed.

This is my second time eating here. We love the fondue and desserts. The first time we ate here we had good service, this most recent time we did not. Our server approached our table and didn't say anything to us, just stood and looked at us, so we just ordered quickly. The dinner was great, and my daughter and I had planned to order dessert, however, our server took such a long time coming back to our table that we decided it was better to just leave. We were disappointed as I had enjoyed the lava cake the first time I ate there and wanted it again, but we felt if we ever got our server's attention it was best to just ask for the check. I rarely leave negative reviews, especially about service as it's a hard job, but we really waited a terribly long time without anyone checking on us that we had to leave. The fondue is worth going for!

A magnificent feast of flavors… a taste that anyone with a discerning palate should experience. The cheese fondue is easily enough for two people. However, you need to make a reservation in advance. Otherwise, you may have to wait a little longer. But still, a friendly team will greet you and try to help you find a seat.

The food, always tasty, was served quickly, and the service was friendly. However, you do need to order extras such as vegetables or a potato dish separately. Our plates were cleared away a bit too quickly this time (new waitress?). It was a slightly awkward moment. I find the prices for a house wine (€7.90) and a soft drink (€4.00) or coffee (€3.80) quite steep. And just a quick nitpick about one of the desserts... the menu listed a dish with two scoops of ice cream, but only one scoop was served.

Great restaurant, found by chance while walking down the street. Very warm welcome, quick service, and excellent food! We had a starter, main course, and dessert, and it cost us around €45 per person—very good value for money. I recommend the onion soup and the apple strudel—delicious! And a bonus: the little cat that wanders around the restaurant adds a charming touch 😺

What a wonderful evening we had at Karbeel. My parents and sister and I dined there before the Candlelight Concert at the Walloon Church. The cheese fondue was so delicious, perfect for sharing. My father had the steak and my mother the salmon. They thoroughly enjoyed it. The portions were very generous, and the staff was friendly, attentive, and fast. It felt like a huge living room with a diverse group of people, and the food was fantastic and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

From the warm welcome at the door to the cozy atmosphere, to the delicious dessert at the end of our meal, our entire time here was a delight. The fondue was delicious! We had the classic Swiss fondue with grilled vegetables and charcuterie add-on. The portion sizes were beyond generous. Service was attentive and timely. The dessert at the end, the Affogato, was incredible. Thank you, Pedro and crew at Het Kabeel for a fabulous evening!
