The small bar is nice and very close to the hotel; no need to go into the city.

Always a good time, delicious food, and the staff is really amazing! I will definitely come by more often :)

Ridiculously high prices for a student cafe; it felt more like a yuppie hangout. It was very quiet and lacked atmosphere, which is perfectly logical given the selection.

It's actually a really nice place, but severely understaffed, and during the World Cup no less… we wanted to order snacks but it wasn't possible because there were only two of them working there. Huge respect for the two girls who were working there. At moments like that, you really wonder: where is more staff to provide support, or is it the boss???

To be honest, very disappointed. My friend accidentally dropped a beer just after it was served. The waitress clearly saw it was an accident, yet we still had to pay again for a second beer at full price. No commercial gesture whatsoever, no understanding. For the prices they charge, this is really a bad way to treat customers.

It is very sad that this is the only place where you can get a drink in the evening at Uilenstede. It is truly pathetic that the staff doesn't understand that you shouldn't play techno in a pub where everyone is sitting. Tip to the staff: teach your guests how to read!! It is truly terrible to have a beer here 🤬

It always has a nice atmosphere and good selection of beers.

We used to frequent this campus when it still had the cozy Café Uilenstede, which was always busy and offered students excellent food at affordable prices. That atmosphere and conviviality of yesteryear are nowhere to be found at Il Caffè. When we visited, there were hardly any customers, and apart from a few Christmas decorations, the aloof interior lacked any ambiance. Even worse: the food was downright subpar. A pizza margherita was tiny and no better in quality than a frozen pizza, only the latter was much larger and three times cheaper. A side salad consisted of some paltry lettuce leaves and tomato slices, drizzled with an unsubtle amount of balsamic vinegar to make it look anything special. No wonder so few customers come...

Bad, one fat unkempt man who introduced himself as the "boss" was downright rude. As you all know dogs have a boss. This so-called boss has a long way to go before he can call himself a manager. A big fail.

In the past you had the club here (cafe uylenstede) that was really cozy, and normal food. Now you have too much uncozy space and a menu that no longer has Dutch on it. So it's hard to choose. They probably move with the times, and I don't. What we chose was good and tasty.

Bar with two pool tables, ping-pong table and table football. The beer is cheap, only at 3€ each, there's background music and at night the atmosphere is very lively.

I really thought I had a good experience at this place, but now I feel cheated. The person who checked us in was apparently pleasant and helpful. Even though the service was a little slow because they had an event and therefore there were a lot of people, we had a good time and fully understood the delay. I'm vegan, so when I entered I asked the waiter if they had options for me. He said yes and pointed them out to us on the menu, but he warned us that the kitchen was still closed and that at that time we could only order various snacks (all vegan, according to him). We decided to order the snacks while we waited for the kitchen to open. So far so good, we had the snacks and some bruschetta and we left. Apart from the exaggerated price of fried snacks (11 euros for 12 small pieces), the big problem comes when we go to buy something at a nearby supermarket when we leave this establishment and I find those same snacks in the frozen section. Some of them had cheese and others even had meat. Obviously it felt terrible to me and I was left with a very bad taste in my mouth. If you are not sure if you can offer a product, don't lie. Thank goodness I'm not allergic and for me it's just a disappointment, but it seems like a very serious mistake on the part of this cafeteria.

I can't imagine a better pub than this great student café where I regularly get a ginger beer. They also often have fun events (such as karaoke, pub quiz, or bingo) that you can really enjoy. And not to forget: great bar staff, really lovely people, you are all real treasures.

Has more of the appearance of a student cafe, but totally fine for a Friday night. Colleagues regularly have drinks here after work.

A week ago a burger came with fries for €14, now their cheapest burger is €15.5 and fries are extra for another 4.5. So I walked out. €20 for a burger and fries in a college bar. Get a clue.

We like to organize parties and dinners here. The staff and owner are very cooperative and helpful. There is always a lot possible here! There is a wide range of drinks here for a reasonable price.

I was here for a student party. There were 2 people behind the bar, for at least 200+ guests, which resulted in a 40-minute wait until it was finally my turn. In addition, the coins you suddenly had to get were just as expensive as at Lowlands, even though this is a student party. We were also not allowed to go outside with drinks after waiting 40 minutes in this crowded sweat room. Abnormal and never coming back!!!

We had a bad experience here, especially with the manager. We came for the 9.50euro burger special as advertised on their Instagram. We ordered via the QR code, as advised, when the burgers came out there were 4 (we only ordered 3), instead of taking the 4th one back the manager insisted it was our fault and his system is ‘never wrong’. We for sure have proof we only ordered and had the confirmation of 3. He left the burger at out table and didn’t take it back or apologise. He was rude. We had to call a friend to come and take the burger, as students we cannot afford to pay for an additional meal when we did not order it. The response from the manager was shocking. The burger was not that good either, which was a shame. When paying we were charged full price (after checking with staff at the start before ordering that the burger deal was today for €9.50) we had to go in and question the price, after hesitation we were refunded, however our overall experience was not great and we will not be back nor do we recommend for dining - maybe a drink only is fine here.

Fantastic bar/eatery we discovered around the corner from our hotel. A student bar with a good atmosphere, cool music and decent food. Staff were super friendly and prices are reasonable.

We found this place by accident and it was a hidden gem. The prices are student friendly, the staff is great, the interior is perfect. We actually went there again durring our stay, so this should tell a lot.

There was a nice party in the evening and at night, but these are not every evening. At other times the café is still open and you can go for something to eat and drink, play pool or karaoke (I'm not sure how often that is) --- This is from a different date than above; Service was nice and helpful. There was a good general atmosphere. But about 4 of us had beef burgers, only we discovered too late that they were not fully cooked. It also tasted good. In addition, the portions were smaller (without some fries or salad, etc.) than we expected for the price. The men's toilet was also missing a door handle, which meant it could not be locked. This was also the only toilet cubicle. --- The missing door handle and lock have now been repaired (I don't know how long, it could have been a long time) and the toilet has also been renovated, including being repainted.

I come here very often and every time it is a great experience. Il Cafe has become a second home for me, and I can truly say that I enjoy the delicious food and cozy atmosphere every time. The chef continues to surprise me with new flavors, and Wieb is always happy to welcome me and provide excellent advice. Il Cafe is truly my favorite place to relax, eat and enjoy a beer. Highly recommended!

Very nice tent, good food and almost always a spot available.

A pleasant place where I have enjoyed coming for a number of years to enjoy a beer and sometimes a bite to eat. Also excellent vegetarian/vegan options available. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, so the problem with my big toe getting stuck in the pool table was quickly resolved.

Excellent! Some of the best service we had, from tasting beers, making a children's menu and even clearing a space for us to change our daughter. Not the cheapest, but amazing food and great beer. Definitely again and will recommend!

This place is within a university area, so lots of young people around. Even though it's called Caffè, it has more of a bar atmosphere with patio and games.

Me and my friends participated in an (international) Pubquiz today. Unfortunately all the communication (pub slides, reading out of questions) was in Dutch and we had to request translations to be able to participate. This made us feel unwelcome as we were expecting an event for the international community. We don’t mind Pubquizes being in Dutch as we are only guests in this country, but please advertise them as such. That is why I am giving only one star for this evening’s experience. Add: Being shouted at by the manager for posting this review was more than “politely disagreeing”

It's a reasonable bar, okay atmosphere, etc. But I think if it hadn't been on the Uilenstede campus it would be a lot less popular.

An oasis in a place where you wouldn't expect it! Found by chance, this place is ideal for a drink or a simple meal. If you are staying in Amstelveen, don’t hesitate for a second! The server is super nice, the dishes are very good as well as a good choice of beers! And a very nice musical atmosphere!

I visited here this evening. I’m travelling solo on business and wanted something nice for dinner. I was expecting just a student bar but actually the food was really fresh and delicious. I had the chicken satay which I’d recommend. It way exceeded my expectations and I’m glad I visited. Service was great too 👍🏼 a shame I’m not staying for longer or I’d definitely visit again!

Discovery of this small restaurant during a brief visit to Amsterdam. Very warm and welcoming staff. The food is very good and the portions are very generous with more than fair prices. Only positive things for my part, I recommend.
