Under the sun and blue sky, we enjoyed the terrace with drinks and some light starters. We had the pie with mushroom ragout and smoked trout. Both are fresh and delicious. The bread with butter was very filling. Its a cozy and elegant place to chill after a busy day.

Top location, amazing menu including top oysters and champagne. The bisque is highly recommended. However, I have never ordered anything that didn't impress me.

We dined by the water last Saturday. It was a real shame that the staff were actually too busy, making everything feel a bit rushed. We weren't even offered the wine to taste, and the bottle we had ordered was placed on the outdoor bar. There was little personal attention. Additionally, we had to wait nearly an hour and a half for the starter and then more than an hour for the main course. All in all, it was not an exceptionally beautiful experience. A pity! And not worth repeating.

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We waited 1.5 hours for our food, while people who arrived after us were served the exact same dishes we had ordered almost immediately. To make matters worse, my child was served salmon instead of the white fish we had ordered. No one apologised or even explained the mistake. We had to ask what had happened ourselves. One waiter told us they had no white fish at all, while another said, "We'll prepare it now." So we were expected to wait another 30 minutes? No, thank you. The grilled vegetables I ordered were not grilled at all-they were simply boiled. And the final surprise: while talking to us, the waiter actually sat down at our table without being invited. This felt very unprofessional and inappropriate. Overall, the service was disorganised, communication was poor, and there was no sense of responsibility for the mistakes. I would not recommend this restaurant, especially since there are many lovely places nearby that value their customers much more.

Very successful herring party. Top-notch herring! I even ordered some oysters, salmon blinis, and pata negra on the side. Very tasty and accompanied by a delicious chilled chardonnay/viognier. But above all, a very nice atmosphere and service.

My partner and I visited this beautiful restaurant with the intention of a relaxed afternoon. We were waved to a table with one set of cutlery and watched as the server for our section brought additional cutlery, took a drinks order, brought drinks, and took a meal order, for a table that arrived after us. Great service was extended to everyone except our party, which waited 20 minutes without even being brought cutlery, a menu, or asked for our drinks order. It was clearly intentional - either a result of us being younger than the other tables, not speaking dutch, or a combination thereof. We simply left, without a word or question from the wait staff who clearly did not mind. This was at 14.20 on Saturday 27th of June on the left hand side of the terrace. Terrible service - we went to Loetje, only 100m from this restaurant, where we were served promptly and kindly. I recommend taking your business there.

The food is okay, nothing special, and the service is very slow.

We came for lunch on Father's Day and understood that it was busy. Unfortunately, the reception was disappointing this time. Upon arrival, we were first escorted to the wrong table, which turned out not to be set. Next, we were directed to another table, but that one was not set either. Moreover, we had to ask for menus ourselves. When the food was served, there were still no plates or cutlery present, meaning we had to wait again. Throughout the afternoon, there was little attention paid to our table, and we had to ask for things ourselves multiple times. We had expected more from this particular location. It is a real shame, because we always enjoyed coming here and have had pleasant experiences here in the past. We understand that it was busy on Father's Day, but better organization and more attention to the guests would have made this afternoon much more enjoyable. Unfortunately, our visit this time did not meet the expectations we have come to expect from this location.

We came to this brasserie with our friends. It's located next to the canal and the view is beautiful. We ordered oven-baked lamb and sea bass as main courses. I'd say the flavors were average, and the portions were small. The delivery time was also quite long. Apart from the ambiance and location, I can say the flavors were average. The prices were also high.

This is a beautiful spot to have lunch by the water in nice weather. Great atmosphere and good food and drinks. What could definitely be better is the attention given to the guests. A small warning sign was already apparent when we checked in at the bar to announce our reservation. First, you are ignored because two staff members are talking to each other and you have to wait until they are finished. Once seated at the table, things go well and the staff are attentive, but as soon as lunch is finished and we want to order dessert, the staff does their utmost to ignore you—despite gesturing and turning around to make eye contact—without any embarrassment whatsoever. In the end, I had to use my voice loudly to get attention. Paardenburg may be such a beautiful place and offer excellent food, but if you do not want to understand the principle of hospitality, or if you have convinced yourself that this is no longer necessary because people will sit down anyway, then you will lose me.

Beutiful, traditional restaurant serving very nice classic Dutch and European dishes. We visited on a Saturday evening on a very sunny day. Even booking only the same day we were able to reserve and we got a table on the terrace by the river. The service was really good, especially the ?manager? (the gentleman with the beard). Possible to arrive in style directly from boat on the river, if you have that option! Meanwhile we did the scenic cycle along the river from/to Amsterdam - both bank sides are good to try. It was established in 1647 so I guess they know what they are doing by now!!

Had a delicious lunch at Paardenburg. A beautiful location by the water. But the interior looked great too. Good food and good service, with – as far as we are concerned – excellent value for money.

Nice location on the riverside we had blinis with salmon and caviar very good ,Tartar was also ok but the asperges were too long cooked ; see photo of last piece .Possible to eat but-not how you want it. Disappointing was the reaction of the waitress "some like soft some like hard ". For asperges we will not come back to Paardenburg .

A bit chaotic due to the switch from lunch guests to dinner guests. Because of this, it took a while before we received our first drink. Once seated at a table, we ordered 2 starters; Bruschetta. A completely failed version of a bruschetta. It was literally a toast from the supermarket with some diced tomatoes. Little flavor, no garnish, nothing. Very meager. For €19.75. A few wedges of Manchego (you have to like that) and a handful of olives. And Smoked Salmon Blini. The Blini turned out to be a mini pancake. Not a good combination with salmon. Anyway, we literally had to wait more than an hour for the main course. Other tables were already being served, even though they arrived much later. A bit impatient, we just spoke to a waiter. He assured us that it would be brought within 5 minutes. It arrived. And it tasted fine, but certainly didn't win any beauty contests regarding garnish etc. Sea bass fillet, a teaspoon of mashed potatoes, and minimal vegetable garnish. Served very lean. My husband's lamb was fine and looked good. All in all fine, but certainly not excellent.

The friendliest, funniest lady who helped us, even though she actually didn't have the terrace open. Also super sweet and funny with our kids. I think her name is Anouk. What a star, she really understands hospitality!

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. 🤍 Everything was absolutely perfect… food, atmosphere and service. The staff was incredibly nice and professional, but a huge thank you goes to Vincent, who took care of us the whole evening. He was helpful, attentive and even helped us order a taxi when we couldn't do it ourselves. You don't see that kind of attitude these days. Thank you for a wonderful evening, it certainly wasn't the last time we were here. ✨

What a waste of time. My husband and I went out on a beautiful, sunny day for a beer and a snack. There were plenty of seats in the sunny patio, but I still invited us to one of the two waitresses and politely asked if we could sit down. The waitress gestured for us to choose a seat. There were only a few other people there. Enjoying the spring sunshine, we waited for our menus. No one approached us for a long time, but since we had just returned from the Caribbean, where time moves more slowly, we simply waited. We were starting to get a little thirsty, but we continued waiting. Finally, the waitress appeared, so we ordered two beers and asked for menus. Sipping cold Heineken, we pondered our appetizer choices. The beer was finished, the appetizers chosen, but no one approached. We tried, unfortunately in vain, to make eye contact. Still, no one paid attention to us. Our glasses were empty. We continued waiting patiently. Meanwhile, we realized that two more people were helping with the service. Still no one approaches. Thirsty and increasingly, we seek eye contact, but we're invisible. Meanwhile, more guests arrive and take their seats at two separate tables. They receive their drinks. Our glasses remain empty. After a further wait, the people who arrived after us receive their food orders. Finally, a waitress glanced at us—hurray. To our surprise, however, nothing happened. New guests arrive and are immediately served. We're starting to feel not only hungry but also thirsty. No one approaches. I start to wonder if it's my dreadlocks or the Polish accent when we asked for menus in Dutch? We try to wave, but the waitresses ignore us. We wait a moment longer, ready to abandon our order and simply pay and eat elsewhere, but no one comes. Finally, I get up and approach the waitress to settle the bill and leave. As I approach, the waitress asks if I'd like to order... I replied that I did, but no thanks, because she's incapable of taking care of her customers. No dismay, let alone an apology, she simply replied that I could pay with my card inside. We went to the outdoor restaurant next door, which was crowded and less staffed, yet we were served immediately. The food at the neighbors' restaurant was delicious and significantly cheaper than the competition. I will never set foot in a Paardenburg restaurant again.

I had wanted to eat here for years, and yesterday it finally happened. A lovely evening to catch up with a friend. Perhaps our expectations were too high, but we left disappointed. The food wasn't really tasty and was therefore quite pricey. The waitstaff gave us very brief service, which made us feel rushed. Not the really long evening out we had hoped for.

The place is greatly located and great/friendly staff members. Their wine is on point. But the food is meh; except the French onion soup. That was great. The main course is a bit sad. It took us too long to make a choice for main course. And then what we got was abysmal. EUR 300 for 4 people is quite a lot of money for not so delicious food. The starters and finger food was decent. You might want to reconsider the options within main course. You will see a picture of portion of main course dish that is supposed to compliment the Cheese fondue. The three other colleagues ordered different things but neither of them were too happy with the food. I have been to this place two times before. I like it but I am more reluctant to visit again. I can get more value for this amount of money elsewhere.

The lobster menu was indeed delivered with plenty of delicious lobster meat. Everything else tasted very good. The 0.0 pink bubbles beforehand: delicious. The atmosphere was a bit less pleasant: some visitors used the restaurant as a café, leaning back and talking loudly to hear each other. While there is a café area...

Last Friday, for the first time in a while, we sat down for a four-course lobster menu and were very pleasantly surprised! The first course was a salad with Pata Negra and, of course, lobster, which they didn't skimp on, so there were no stray bits to search for here and there, which is the case in some restaurants when it comes to lobster. It was wonderfully fresh, a generous portion, and not overloaded with dressing. The bisque was also delicious with a fantastic shrimp garnish, and the main course, half lobster, was wonderfully tender and served pure with some accompanying vegetables and creamy purée. The white Fleurie Viognier was perfectly tempered, and we always find their "house wine" a good friend; you can find a worse house wine than this. Personally, I wasn't as impressed with the Cremant. We're not big fans of sweet desserts, but even this one was really good! Added to that the super attentive, hospitable and professional service, I can say that we had a very pleasant and enjoyable evening, definitely worth repeating, thank you for your good care.

We had another excellent lunch here, this time apparently the first guests to taste the 2026 lobster menu. The lobster was perfectly cooked, and the bésique was also delicious. We also liked that it's also a great place for a late lunch, allowing us to maintain our "Spanish rhythm" ;-)

We shared a bread platter as a starter, tournedos and venison with fries for the main course. For dessert, we had tarte tatin and crème brûlée. We had a bottle of wine (Chardonnay) for €32.50, and the bill was €154. The tournedos was delicious, but it was two small pieces, and the rest of the dish was mostly very, very potato. The prices are really exorbitant for what you get, which is a shame.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What a fantastic experience at Brasserie Paardenburg. A beautiful location with a cozy, warm atmosphere and a wonderful welcome. The service was sweet, attentive, and professional; you really felt welcome. We celebrated our mother's 75th birthday here with the whole family in the Baroque room. Private seating, a beautifully set table, and everything taken care of down to the last detail. The set menu was beautifully composed, the food was fantastic, and every plate was beautifully presented. An added bonus: we arrived by boat from Amsterdam and were able to literally disembark right outside the door—how unique could that be? This was an unforgettable day for our mother and for the whole family. Thanks to the entire team at Brasserie Paardenburg for this wonderful memory. Absolutely recommended!

I had a lovely lunch with my family and enjoyed the good food, but charging €6.50 for a carafe of tap water is a disgusting rip-off. I won't be back.

We had a delicious meal before we went to the Ziggo Dome.

We (about 10 people) were here recently for high tea. The private room we were in was beautifully decorated and the service was good, but we found the food rather bland. As a starter, we were given broth, which was just water. It was very tasty, though. For the main course, we each got three mini rolls (the kind you buy in the supermarket for Easter) with a slice of cheese and a lettuce leaf. I thought this was really very meager. For dessert, we got a few mini pastries (about 3cm x 3cm) and a scone. Drinks consisted of one glass of champagne, tea, and water. For 40 euros per person, I definitely wouldn't recommend this. When we got home (30 meters later), we were hungry again.

What a lovely café with a warm atmosphere! The coffee was top-notch, and the latte art was beautiful. I ordered a toasted sandwich with aged cheese and tomato soup—simple but perfectly prepared. The service was cheerful and polite. The tables by the window offered a beautiful view of the street. There was a relaxed atmosphere, which made me stay longer than planned. The background music was calm and pleasant. Everything felt personal and well-cared for. A place you'll want to return to.

Quality/price ratio seems slightly out of whack, i.e. detrimental to the customer. Service was just average, due to probably inexperienced staff. Finding a parking space was a real challenge, as getting to the nearest parking lot was a long roundabout drive and during (early winter) darkness difficult to discern where parking was exactly possible and/or allowed due to a total lack of light-up signs giving the necessary indications. When rethrning to my car, I found I got fined €104 for being parked in a space that turned out nót to belong to the parking lot facility. If it wasn't for the pleasant company I kept, I would certainly have categorized it to be one of my less enjoyable evenings out.b

Dear Paardenburg staff, On October 4th, I turned 60 and celebrated at your beautiful garden house. From the moment I walked in, I was enchanted. The beautiful round tables were so beautifully set, the atmosphere, the decorations—what a fairytale-like location. The 6-course meal for 80 people was perfect for everyone. It was so delicious, everyone enjoyed it, and the speed with which it was served was truly amazing. 👏 Afterward, the hall was transformed into a party venue. I was amazed at how quickly and organized everything went. I want to thank everyone: the cheerful bar staff, the lovely waitresses, and the chefs who prepared the food so well. And absolutely Marco & Sera, you made and carried this event. It couldn't have been more beautiful. Thank you so much for your dedication. 👏👏 And the venue is a dream. A convenient place for lunch/dinner. Food is just so-so

TOP SERVICE!!! Last time, we were given a table next to a door with a lot of traffic, so this time we requested a quieter spot so my grandfather could hear the conversations. And we certainly got that. We were surprised with a private dining room. This was partly because there was a wedding dinner going on downstairs, but for us, it was absolutely perfect. And of course, the food was delicious again.

A nice place to sit but the latte coffee I had was quite average in quality.

We went for a business dinner, service was nice, although a bit delayed with service etc. Excellent food and atmosphere, close to the river. Garden looks great, but it was too cold to sit outside.

Six months ago, I reported that we had to wait too long several times during dinner. Yesterday, I had lunch at Paardenburg and found that the wait hasn't improved. The man on the terrace was very friendly and welcoming, but the woman who poured me a glass of wine was careless and spilled the wine. We waited 45 minutes between the starter and the main course. Moreover, my main course (cauliflower) was lukewarm. So, we won't be returning. Paardenburg is a place with pretensions that don't live up to them.

Attention makes everything better. And that's exactly what I missed. I had the truffle risotto; how much better would it have been (at this location) to have the truffle shaved at the table? I wouldn't have paid extra for that, because the prices are excellent. We also ordered bread to eat while waiting, which arrived at the same time as the risotto. The bread came with rock-hard butter, oil, and no salt to be found. I found the service rushed and impersonal. Water (paid tap water) was immediately on the table. Wine was offered once, but I didn't ask for it again, despite an empty glass. Even though it was lunch, I would definitely have had a second glass. The waiter dropped a bottle of wine in a cooler next to our table. They quickly wiped it up and didn't ask any questions. Hopefully, white wine doesn't stain linen trousers.

Had a wonderful lunch on the sunny terrace. Next time I'll make a reservation for the indoor dining room because it looks beautiful too.

Without wanting to disrespect the others, a special thanks to Anouk 😘 Our granddaughter loved picking up her food and ice cream from the kitchen with Anouk! We had lunch here last Sunday, June 8th, with 2 people. Theme was Saint-Tropez. They had put straw hats on various tables to use during the meal. (which we did) Unfortunately it was inside because of the weather. But the atmosphere, inside or outside, is always good here. They had a delicious menu . Enjoy. And..... nice wines. Super nice place! We were 4 people, we had not made a reservation, but after half an hour we were able to get a nice spot on the water. Delicious food, but you have to pay a lot for the fries, vegetables and other side dishes. 6.50 euros for a bowl of fries and also 6.50 euros for a bowl of vegetables.

Had lunch. Atmosphere and ambiance are excellent. Operation not very careful. The dish, a crab cocktail sandwich with apple, was generously topped with… lettuce. But the crab cocktail was a bit poor. Not to mention next to nothing. Two decent sandwiches, with three dessert spoons of crab cocktail per sandwich. Tasty, but completely insignificant between the bread and lettuce. For 14.50 I think you can expect a little more. The main courses are also quite expensive individually, but I don't dare take that gamble anymore. Unfortunately, for such a beautiful restaurant.

Looks nicer than it is. Food is of mediocre quality and quite expensive for what they serve. It was very quiet in the shop on Friday evening and I didn't think that was strange. If I go to dinner with two people and receive a bill for €170, there are certain expectations.

We had dinner here yesterday. Beautiful historic location. The staff was extremely nice and friendly and we certainly had a great time. Sadly they had a bit of an issue with the timing because my food (lamb neck) and some fries were lukewarm at best..But the taste was great so 4⭐️ anyway. I’m very sorry to say that our experience at Paardenburg last night was disappointing, and I feel compelled to give it a 3 out of 5. Unfortunately, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming, and the staff’s attitude came across as unexpectedly rude. We were there to celebrate a dear friend's 50th birthday, a truly special occasion. We specifically chose Paardenburg because it has always been our go-to place for memorable celebrations, and until now, we’ve always had wonderful experiences. Regrettably, last night did not live up to those standards. Out of respect for our friend and the occasion, we chose not to raise any concerns at the time, so as not to dampen the mood. However, it's only fair to be honest and say that, based on this experience, we will no longer consider Paardenburg for our future celebrations.
