We were looking for something to eat on a very hot day (35 C) and wanted a quiet restaurant in a quaint neighborhood. This place hit the mark. The host was apologetic that there was no AC and the only outside seating was in the sun. We opted inside with the windows open and it was pleasant. The food was so fresh and delicious. The pasta tasted homemade and everything was full of flavor. Would highly recommend if you are craving some good eats and good service

Pasta vongole? That was anything but Italian. Absolutely tasteless and completely lacking in finesse. The bruschetta? Not a success either, dry and characterless. Maybe I'm just too used to real Italian cuisine... but this was clearly not it.

Really nice place with original dishes. A bit (too) pricey with not too large portions, but you won't leave hungry. Nice atmosphere, nice people. Make sure to reserve in time because it fills up quickly.

Just a simple nice place with just a regular food flavours The decoration is basic (this is not a problem) but the biggest MINUS point is the (not exciting) ventilation (in the kitchen) All my clothes where smelling the food from the kitchen .. In the summer when they using the terrace I guess is lovely place

Delicious food and nice service. Prices for some dishes were out of proportion. For example, a cacio e pepe costs 25 euros and the special we had was tasty, but a pasta with tomato sauce is not worth 25 euros.

Wanted to try this place for a long time and did it today. Unfortunately our experience wasn’t good. We were waiting for a table outside and our turn was given to some other couple. We didn’t complain about this and waited for another table silently. And later we were told a table is ready and while we were walking to sit, someone else seated there before we could. I couldn’t stand this second incident and I complained. First I was given some excuses and when I didn’t buy those, I was given an apology which I believe wasn’t sincere because nothing was done to reverse the situation. This place had no idea how disrespectful is what happened and made no effort to fix it. Maybe this is because we are not Dutch, I am not sure… About the food; it’s normal food which you can cook at home as well. Nothing wrong and nothing special. This is a place to eat when you don’t have anything at home ready. If you don’t live close by, you don’t need to bother going…. Update: Restaurant replied back blaming us… That is unfortunate. Here are the actual facts which are very different then what they claimed in their reply back. 1- from the very first moment, we informed the waitress that we wanted to sit outside. They gave us a table inside so they knew we were waiting inside. It’s not that we didn’t tell them. 2- No one told us we should wait outside or we can’t wait inside(also it is not clear why where we wait makes any difference. where we wait should really not affect anything). 3- we took the first available table offered to us. We have not refused the table. It is correct that later we were offered another table, like half an hour later, which is not clear why because we were already seated outside now. Switching a table for the 3rd time, in middle of our dinner would just have been another inconvenience. 4- we we’re not offered a wine or anything else as an apology. The wines were part of our order. We were charged for everything we had and we paid for all. We even still tipped the waitress since none of this was her fault but whoever responsible with reservations and seatings. So all 4 points restaurant made in their reply are actually incorrect. Why they chosen to do such reply is unclear. Anyone can make a mistake and may even fail to fix it. but making false claims to cover their mistake, takes their disrespect to a new level.

Just incredibly nice service, we were dining out with 5 rowdy children and they were able to accommodate us. Food was great, nothing extraordinary but executed well.

Wij komen al vele jaren met regelmaat bij Ill Cavallino. Altijd als er wat te vieren valt is dat onze vaste keus Of je met z'n tweeën bent of met 10 personen, je voelt je een welkome gast in die prettige Italiaanse informele sfeer. De kaart is niet groot maar wisselt regelmatig en wij vinden de kwaliteit top. Ook de huiswijnen rood en wit zijn prima Niet goedkoop maar dat kan ook niet voor kwaliteit. Wij vinden de prijs kwaliteit verhouding correct. Een aanrader voor een avondje uit eten. Blij met zo'n leuk restaurantje in de buurt 👌🍷🍾😋

Delicious Italian food and enjoyed delicious tasty dishes. All this with a nice bottle of Italian wine and the evening was great! The location is good, you can eat outside when the weather is nice, but it is also attractive inside.

Good food and atmosphere, but the service was with a bit of the wrong attitude. Wine needs to be served with a smile. If you sell 8€ bottle for 30 € , at least you pour it for the guests.

Het was allemaal goed. Vriendelijke ontvangst, prettige ruimte. We kozen voor het delen van voorgerechten en aten vervolgens een superlekker pasta met spinazie en gorgonzola. Tiramisu op t af te sluiten. Alles smaakte echt heerlijk. Aanrader dus.

Visited il Cavallino for their pasta menu, offering large, platters of pasta. While good, the dishes weren't particularly outstanding. The wine selection is notable and the staff welcoming. When we visited it seemed quite busy as ordering took some time. The atmosphere is fine, and the pricing is reasonable for the area. A solid choice for a straightforward Italian meal with no frills.

Nice and affordable Italian restaurant in a more residential part of Amsterdam. Nothing special, just good quality food at a reasonable price served by friendly and welcoming people. Some nice dishes are the vitello tonnato, linguine con gamberoni, and papardelle gorgonzola

The food is exceptional, the service truly outstanding and the ambience is just great. Only con point is the volume (just the general volume of noise, it's pretty busy in there). If you intend to go for a quiet meal this is definitely not the place for you.

Disappointing Italian. Food is not very tasty. I would not go again and do not recommend it. Service is ok and the staff is nice. The atmosphere is ok and location has great potential. It’s overall overpriced for the food quality you get in your plate.

Wir sind mit einer Gruppe von 25 Personen unangemeldet aufgetaucht und haben gefragt öb es möglich wäre als gruppe zu essen. 45 minuten später hatten wir das essen auf dem tisch. Super flexibel freundlich und lecker.
